This is the only clean way to debranding your P8 with official Huawei update L09V100R001C900B170.
1. Download from Huawei Hungary the latest european version L09V100R001C900B170 : http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=49884&version=118243&siteCode=hu
2. You will find in downloaded file 'D__documents_Temp_upload_GRA-L09C900B170CUSTC432D001-Europe.rar' two folders :
/CUSTOM
/dload
3. Copy both folders /CUSTOM and /dload forders with one update.app in each folder in your SD card
4. Shut down your P8
5. Press "Vol+" + "Vol-" + "Power" until your P8 vibrates
6. Update will start. If you have an operator ROM, you might get un error message at the end. Do not worry.
7. Turn on your P8 and configure it (don't need to create Google account or even to connect it to WiFi.
8. Open Huawei File Explorer and rename /dload folder containing update.app (2.91 Gb) to /dload.rom (or other name you fancy)
9. Rename /CUSTOM folder containing update.app (19Kb) to /dload
10. Repeat steps 4 to 7
11. Open Huawei File Explorer and rename /dload folder containing update.app (19Kb) to /CUSTOM
12. Rename /dload.rom folder containing update.app (2.91 Gb) to /dload
13. Repeat AGAIN steps 4 to 7
14. Open Huawei File Explorer and delete /CUSTOM and /dload folders from your SD card.
That's it. Your P8 bought from your operator will be now complete debranded with the latest European ROM
NB: Steps 10 to 13 (to reflash L09V100R001C900B170 after flashing the patch in /CUSTOM folder) are recommended to have a clean installation.

Well, I think it's quite clear. Download the latest European ROM (not branded) from official Huawei server in Hungary (link above) and inside the downloaded file (.rar) you will find two folders.
@ BUNDOO
are there possibilities to make OTA updates after this install? I suppose that the answer is no, but can you confirm please?
And are there risks to have difficulties with the connectivity option? Some users noticed this issue after installing a new stock rom

If you change a branded operator P8 to unbranded just flashing the stock unbranded ROM, you will have problems. I can confirm that.
BUT if you install the latest stock ROM L09V100R001C900B170 http://download-c.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=49884&version=118243&siteCode=hu that includes a custom update from Huawei to install after the ROM, everything will be fine. Please note this is the official Huawei update center thus the ROM file is the official untouched ROM from Huawei
People who have problems with their branded P8 after flashing in the past a stock ROM, their phones will work flawless again.
Now, concerning future OTA updates, I cannot tell you because for the moment L09V100R001C900B170 is the latest update. As far as I know, you stop getting OTA updates ONLY when you flash an unbranded phone with an operator branded ROM.
My Bouygues Telecom P8 came with GRA-L09_V100R001C432B124CUSTC101D001. Now it's running flawless GRA-L09V100R001C900B170CUSTC432D001 which has many enhancements and stability over Bouygues ROM. Besides, I believe, in the future I will get more updates from Huawei for the European stock ROM than for the Bouygues ROM.

I come from b130 (Vodafone) and wanted to install the b170.
But the update hangs at 19%. Tried several times.

Indeed, after debranding you'll get official updates for the free market. That's the main reason for debranding because operator updates are more rare and usually they come out much later.
yes, it is normal OTA are working fine after debranding... i'm on b200 too
Anyway we won't get marshmallow for GRA-L09
Thanks. It worked like described.

You're using the word "FLASH" in your description. Does it mean that you lose datas (files, configs, softs...) when you're changing the Splash Screen ?

Thanks!
If your only flashing a new boot screen, etc; your device should not hard reset.

Hi,
I followed the instructions to convert L09 to Middle Eastern & North and South Africa version and it all worked well for me, but I'm wondering how do I convert to Chinese version? Can anyone help with some information?
Like do i just need to edit the build.prop and have the correct regions update.app file? or is something else necessary.
Thanks in advance

So I managed to convert to Chinese version. This is how I did it.
While fresh in the memory, instructions on how to change the region+ firmware to UL00
What do you need (links in 004's original post earlier in the thread or here:
1. Firmware UL00-C433B114 (Middle East, North and South Africa)
2. The oeminfo.img program to change the locale (45.69 KB) Anti-Virus may or complain, so disable it)
3. Mounted on the phone ES Explorer (Solid or Root Explorer will not work !!!)
4. You need a copy of your existing ROM versions recovery.img. You can get this using the Huawei ROM extractor tool.
What to do:
1. Flash TWRP Recovery through Fastboot (Bootloader must be unlocked)
2..Get Root (install SuperSU.zip through TWRP), reboot.
3. Install and enable root in settings of ES Explorer and go to the folder /dev/block/platform/hi_mci.0/by-name/
4. Copy oeminfo file and transfer it to your computer
5. On your computer, unpack the oeminfo.exe program from the RAR. Put your oeminfo file in the same folder.
6. Rename oeminfo in oeminfo.img
7. Run oeminfo.img.exe and type hw / meafnaf replacing dualcu / cn - click apply
8. Rename oeminfo.img back to oeminfo and copy to your mobile phone
9. Replace the original file in the phone to change (overwrite)
10. Go to the phone / system / and open the file build.prop
11. Find the line ro.build.displey.id = change your version to "=" CRR-UL00C433B000 and save changes
EDIT ?: These steps (10/11) MUST be completed or it will not allow you to update later with new regions ROM
12. Extract the new ROM file on your computer with the firmware.
13. Copy dload folder with the Update.app file and copy it to the phone's internal memory or MicroSD card
14. Flash back stock recovery from your existing ROM (use the extractor tool if needed). You can do this now or at the end before flashing but you must remove TWRP and ROOT before attempting to flash new rom.
15. On the phone go Settings - Update.
16. Select Menu - Local update
I then ensured Google Play was installed.
After doing this, flashed TWRP again and Rooted the phone, I then edited the oeminfo file using the above method, changing the attribute back to "dualcu/cn". After this I edited the build.prop to using the above method but this time I changed "ro.build.display.id=CRR-UL00C00B131".
I then removed root and flashed the original Huawei recovery, and then rebooted and went to update settings. I searched for update and a new file was found however a modified system was detected so it offered to download a full version which was the B160 build. This downloaded and then updated and now I have CRR-UL00C00B160 version
Whats the advantage of this Version?
There are more updates to the Chinese version..they are on build B160 whereas UK still on build B144.
Some other features like dual SIM should work however I haven't tested this.
Other things like build in virus scanner, permissions manager and also the ability to set the date of your mobile data plan to help keep track of data usage and allowance.
Pressure sensitive screen is also featured although not yet used in any apps but maybe it will be enabled soon by Huawei

if you have changed your localization ( the "Cxxx" part) then you won´t receive any updates. You have to manualy update via Update.APP files.
Your IMEI is linked to you Build/Localization. This way, Huawei makes sure that every phone receives the right update file. If you change one of both, you won´t receive OTA updates anymore, since the update system can´t assign the "right" update file.

I had used firmware finder to upgrade from emui 4.1.2 to NEM L51C432B350.
I've regretted it since as B350 is not ready. WiFi is patchy and more importantly, battery standby is just not as good as B130. Battery saving doesn't seem to keep apps asleep.
There is a B355 version on firmware finder but it is not signed for me yet.
Has anyone been able to roll back from Nougat? And what is the process? Honor website and forums have been hopeless.

I've done using b175
My phone version of the Middle East
May be different for you
Now with solution!
OK, so it turns out that the rollback is fairly easy. It's just not very clear if you're a novice (like me).
First, use the backup app to back up all your info to the SD card. This process wipes everything on the phone memory.
Next, use Firmware Finder to download the software version that you want to roll back to. In my case, NEM-L51C432B130.
Once that is downloaded, extract the zip file. The largest file in the unzipped folder should be UPDATE.APP. Leave this for now, we'll come back to it.
The next step is to download the test keys / intermediate file from here http://www.hihonor.com/pl/support/details/index.html?DOC_ID=94145
This is a Polish rollback file for NEM-L22, but that doesn't matter. As far as I can see, this just preps the system for rollback. Thanks to user schizmatyk for linking this on another thread.
The intermediate file is a zip of around 70Mb. Once it is downloaded, extract it and you should have a file called UPDATE.APP. This is different from the file with the same name mentioned above.
Copy this update.app to the dload folder on the root of your SD card. If you don't have a dload folder, create one.
*NOTE - there are also clear instructions on a pdf file in this download.
Next, flash the intermediate file by switching your phone off. Then hold volume up & volume down, switch on again. Keep holding the buttons until the phone has started. You will see a message to say that an update is being applied. It only takes a moment.
Your phone will restart.
Once started again, go to the dload folder on your SD card and delete the update.app file.
Then go back and copy UPDATE.APP from the extracted folder of the ROM that you want to rollback to. Paste it into the dload folder.
Repeat the flash process above. Phone off, volume buttons and switch on. Phone will update and wipe. This will take a bit longer.
Once the phone restarts, use the backup app to restore all your data from earlier.

Sesuai seri sebelumnya...
Seperti nem-l51c432b350 untuk versi sebelumnya kan ..nem-l51c432b130 (emui 4.1.2) ...
Habis download ..ekstrak....
Ntar ada file dgn nama update.apps?
Buat folder baru di sdcard(eksternal) dgn nama dload
Ekstart dulu polish rollback nya sampai ketemu file update.apps? Sebesar 70mb (1)
Selanjutnya ekstrak file update.zip (2) yg isinya berisi file update.apps? Lalu hapus folder dload yg pertama di buat tadi ...bikin folder dload lagi dan letakkan update.apps? Tdi ke dlm folder dload tsb
(Yg lain gk usah)
Klu sdh buka telepon ketik *#*#2846579#*#*
Nanti bklan ada pilihan..pilih update system...yes...sdcard.....
Biar sampai selesai dan reboot...
Usahakan batere full gan...karna bisa sampai 10 mnt...

Sesuai seri sebelumnya...
Seperti nem-l51c432b350 untuk versi sebelumnya kan ..nem-l51c432b130 (emui 4.1.2) ...
Habis download ..ekstrak....
Ntar ada file dgn nama update.apps?
Buat folder baru di sdcard(eksternal) dgn nama dload
Ekstart dulu polish rollback nya sampai ketemu file update.apps? Sebesar 70mb (1)
Selanjutnya ekstrak file update.zip (2) yg isinya berisi file update.apps? Lalu hapus folder dload yg pertama di buat tadi ...bikin folder dload lagi dan letakkan update.apps? Tdi ke dlm folder dload tsb
(Yg lain gk usah)
Klu sdh buka telepon ketik *#*#2846579#*#*
Nanti bklan ada pilihan..pilih update system...yes...sdcard.....
Biar sampai selesai dan reboot...
Usahakan batere full gan...karna bisa sampai 10 mnt...
Click to collapse
