SM-N920k - Not hearing sounds during calls - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I bought my Note 5 N920K off eBay. The first few days it worked fine. I would say the first few weeks. Then one Saturday I was on a call and suddenly I could hear the person on the other end. I tried to call back but when the call connected, there was still no sound. I toed another phone and completed the call. I then tried to call VM as a test call. I could hear the welcome note in the first 5 seconds and then it just went quiet. I tried this again and the same results, I tried the SIM card in another phone and it worked fine. I tried another SIM card in the note and same problem. I know of someone who had a Galaxy S5 G906k with similar issues but it went away eventually. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to if this may be a HW or a SW problem?
Any assistance would help. Let me know if any additional info is required to assist.

i believe somehow related to kernel problem. I got the same situation here. It will be solved by flash stock firmware via odin.
you can find stock firmware in below link:

Calls going straight to answerphone?

Hi, can anyone help me please?
I'm losing my company voda phone (sim card) as I'm being made redundant, and swapped it out for an Orange payg sim last week. All seemed to be working fine. However, I tried to call my phone today, and it just goes straight to answerphone. I contacted Orange CS, and they sent me some sim updates. Rebooted, and Orange CS managed to place a call to my phone. Sorted. Or so I thought. Just tried again, and it's still going to answerphone. Have I messed my phone up somehow? I know my 2 year old daughter was palying with it at the weekend, and managed to call one of my friends for 2 mins!! Could she have changed something else?
Check call forwarding in the phone settings.
You can adjust how long it takes to divert to voicemail here. Perhaps this is your culprit?
Make sure that the top checkbox (forward all incoming phone calls) is unchecked also.
Thanks for the suggestion, but seems to have sorted itself out now
I have been swapping the sim cards around, and trying different phones. I guess one of the reboots must have done something? Anyway, all working again
Check This Out
All folks who have this issue may want to check out this thread.
The calls going straight to voicemail may be a symptom of NSI as defined in the thread linked above. As of right now, there is no cure except a soft reset or perhaps going back to a 6.0 ROM.

Captivate Unusual Problem. Please HELP :(

Dear users,
So 2 months ago I returned to Europe from USA. I bought an AT&T Captivate over there and since it could not be used over here, I unlocked it. But after unlocking the phone I noticed an very frustrating problem :
When someone calls me there are absolutely no problems no mater how many times they call.
When I call someone the first time everything is also ok.
But when I try to call someone after I already called once, there is no sound. I can't hear absolutely nothing and neither can the person that is beeing called. Not a sound, not even the "beep...beep" sound (sorry, i don't know how it's called in English) when you are making a phone call.
So basicly I have to restart my phone after every time I call someone to be able to make a call and actualy speak to them, and then restart again.
I hope I described clearly what the problem is. Is there some way I can fix this because it is extreamly frustrating ?
P.S. i'm using Froyo OS.
The Froyo build is Beta - so it could be your problem. Also, the Captivate is still an AT&T phone, so even though it is unlocked, it may not like the network you are using.
You could try the following:
1. Different SIM - different provider
2. Roll back to 2.1

Captivate silence during calls?

I am currently abroad in London. I have unlocked my Captivate to work on a local network, Orange, with a pay as you go plan. Recently when 2.2 was released I used Kies Mini to upgrade, it went fine. However, now I can't use the phone for calls!
When I make or receive a call, its as if the phone is muted. I can't hear a thing, not static, ringing, or the other person when then answer (yes the calls go through), and they can't hear me either. It's very strange. However, I have tested both the mic and internal and external speakers with other apps and they work fine.
I have tried downgrading and re-upgrading and even doing a reset with Odin but it does not help. Strangely enough, when I first upgraded calling worked off and on (1 working call for every 3 silent calls) for about a week, then stopped alltogether.
Any suggestions? I really need this fixed fast. Could this be a SIM card issue?
Hi, I had the same issue, and it was with an Orange prepaid sim card. I unlocked my phone prior to the trip, and I had the same thing with every other call had no audio whatsoever but the SMS still worked. I wonder if somebody had a custom rom that worked fine with Orange

Yeah exactly SMS works just fine. Well that sucks, what a strange issue! I wonder if there's some sort of fix for this?
Surely somebody else is using an unlocked Captivate with those pesky Orange pay as you go....
I can't say it'd be a fix or anything, but on some roms, I sometimes have to enable speakerphone, and then disable it. I doubt it'd be a fix for your issue, but it's worth a try

OP did you try that? That would be too easy if it was it. I flashed my phone to a new ROM but I cannot try it until my brother sends me the international Orange sim

[Q] No audio after starting a phone call

Dear XDA users!
Please help me to solve the above problem. I have a brand new Galaxy Mini and the problem is:
- if i make a call no one can hear me, and i can't hear anybody
- if i have an incoming call, it's the same
- after that events all audio on the phone are muted (plus strange that the camera stops working too)
So if I don't make a call or haven't got incoming calls everything is all right. I can hear the dialing tones, the clicks, when i'm clicking on icons and so on.
Now I put back the original stock T-Mobile HUN 2.3.4 firmware (S5570XWKQ5). Nothing changed. When a call started everything go wrong.
The device is SIM unlocked with BML5 method. Before this actual stock rom I replaced the stock with CM9 using CWM.
I tried many custom roms, the problem still exists. And as I said it exists on the stock rom.
I'm totally lost with this thing, i can't use my new phone. Did I do something wrong? I can't believe it's hardware fault. But no success on stock, custom, etc...
Thanks!
Edit:
Forgot to mention, at first on the stock rom, I was trying to SIM unlock with this code: *2767*3855#
Don't know if it matters.
Anyone?
Tried different kernels, different radio ROM, different android versions. Nothing changed...
Is it hardware fault or related to something else?
!!!SOLVED!!!
If anyone interested:
I've pulled out the battery for 5 minutes and this sound misery gone away.
Really lame that i forgot to do that so far.
!!!SOLVED!!!

[Q] Loud scratch noise during calls after Cyanogenmod 10 + Generic IMEI

Hello everyone, I hope you guys can shed some light here, I would really appreciate it. I searched the forum and found a workaround for the IMEI problem that did not work for me. And I found nothing regarding the noise during calls, so I decided to post to get some help.
Problem 1
I have a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000B from Brazil unlocked from the store. Three days ago I decided to update my system (2.2) to the CM10.0.0 (4.1.2). After much sweat and hassle I discovered how do it properly, so I flashed 2.3.3 and then CM10 and it seemed to work properly until I found out my IMEI had been corrupted. I tried the solution I found but it didn't work because on step #5 I don't find the file named ".nv_data", just "nv_data.bin.md5". I tried copying just the other but in the end it doesn't change my IMEI back. I still have a generic IMEI but it is not affecting the signal of my phone, I can still make and receive calls. When I flash android 2.2 it restores my IMEI. I don't really care that much about my IMEI, I just worry about the possibility of it causing the scratch noise.
Problem 2
My other problem is that I keep getting these really loud and intermittent scratch noises during calls after flashing CM10. Right now I am using a dutch SIM for I live in the netherlands. Maybe that is important to mention. But I had been using android 2.2 here all along with no problems. After CM10 I get these sudden short bursts of noise during my calls. The other person can barely hear it but I hear it loudly. It's really annoying. I have no idea what is causing it or how I can fix it.
Can you guys help me out with this one?!
Thank you,
Henry
