here's the story: my Tytn II was running fine for some months
one day I was travelling and need to use the GPS until there was just around 8% battery level
then everything started to get slow (GPS map couldn't even redraw)
ok, I though it was in some "slow-clock mode" to preserve battery
then I reseted it and, when I came synced it at home, ActiveSync said it couldn't sync (don't remember why) and it would have to send all the information again
but it was taking forever, so I stopped it and did it again later, when it said it was success
I then noticed my speed dial numbers had been lost, but that's not a big problem
the biggest problem here is that for the last 5 days my Tytn is slowing down very often (like 5 minutes after I reset it), even after I removed all startup programs!
What I'm noticing:
1) GPS maps doesn't redraw (I waited more than 2 minutes... it should take like 1 second)
2) Freecell cards are animating very slow after a completed level
3) touchscreen responsiveness is slow
4) I have TodayAgenda... after I change the date of a calendar item, it doesn't get displayed in the new day (just if I reboot)
5 and probably most important) mstli.exe is using 80 to 98% CPU
any hints?

I'm using L26
Since I didn't change anything else, not installing/uninstalling programs and so on, I don't like the hardreset idea (there's a lot of work to set everything back again )

There's often alot more work in diagnosing exactly what the cause is. If you haven't installed anything else then a hard reset (not a reflash) isn't to much work and it gives you the opportunity to progressively reinstal and test any additional software you do use. When you find the app that when installed or configured/used causes the slowdown, then you've found the culprit. Major slowdowns don't just happen out of the blue without changes to the software unless it's due to hardware failure and a hard reset will quickly pick up that sort of issue.
By all means wait to see if others with the same setup have experienced the same issue and if so what they did to solve it but I suspect you'd have it fixed sooner, going down the hard reset route.

I couldnt say it better. I flash and hardreset my phone very often, its a little bit painfull but u will get used to it.
Do not be afraid of the hardreset.
just letting you know I remembered in this same day I had the battery problem, I changed a setting on IP Dashboard (configuring it to keep max 500 KBs history)
I now removed IP Dashboard the problem stopped
will try some other program later, or the old config
thanks

Out of the blue my Bionic just started rebooting. 8-10 time per day, who knows how may time at night. I am using the stock ROM. I am looking for a stable ROM that I can use to fix the problem. I also have the problem of disapearing apps that I move to the ext card.
Feedback on possible cures will be welcomed.
I just experienced my first unexpected reboot. It was after plugging in my USB to my computer.
This seems like the sort of thing that would have a 50% chance of being related to your hardware, and a 50% chance of an unstable app screwing something up. The stock software is at least stable enough that it's not very likely to be the cause of your issues, and flashing another ROM (which will have the same kernel) won't help if it is a hardware issue.
A factory reset followed by staggered reinstallation of apps (one or two at a time, to see if one in particular might be causing issues) would be my first step for a problem as extreme as random reboots. The next step is through warranty channels. I might even do that first- I don't think I could put up with a phone that rebooted on me.
And the cure for disappearing apps is to not use media area for storage. The phone dedicates 4gb for apps, that should be more than enough until they patch a fix.
i may have to add that my phone was completely stable until i purchased and installed the extended battery then i started to experience reboots and a few locks here and there.
i did a few factory reset on the stock but the phone was still acting up with the new battery.
i then decided to root and run roms and to be frank no locks and or reboots running the same battery that seemed to be causing the problems based on that being the only change to my phone before the reboot and locks.
i am not saying that there is something there with the stock as there would be more reports on this but rooting and going back to stock is a single click now making it a fast process to trouble shoot the software.
i am experiencing a bad or short life with the extended so in my case it could have been the battery screwing up the reads on the software (guess) but the first 3 charge from full to dead just about 3 days after that same extended only last one day.
in general it seemed that my issue could have been a bad battery and wiping data and playing with roms may had help but in the end i will be calling verizon for a battery replacement as i doubt that in two weeks the battery charge for an extended could only last 1 day of medium use.
sorry long response and by no means i'm i encouraging to root and rom just speaking out of my experience.
Hi - first post here. After 4 Thunderbolts - Verizon sent me a Bionic. Much better however, after rooting with 43v3r and de-bloating with The Black Hat App - I'm having random reboots. Initially, the reboots were several times per day increasing in frequency to several times an hour. Y u c k - My Thunderbolt could do that too.
So in troubleshooting:
1 - I've reverted to stock build - no add'l apps: No reboots in 48 hours. So - I doubt it's hardware.
2- After reverting - I then rooted w/43v3R, then debloated - just using stock apps - no reboots in 24 hours. So, I really doubt it's debloating or rooting
3 - After adding a few apps - Stitcher, Enhanced email, SVOX w/voice, Beautiful Widgets (w/clock selected) - I get a reboot.
4 - Remove everything but stitcher. No reboots - 24 hours.
5 - Add Enhanced Email yesterday
Today, I had a reboot.
6 - So culprit 'looks' like Enhanced Email OR perhaps a switching problem between 3/4g (The Thunderbolt - Stitcher used to drop connection in this particular location so, there IS an issue w/3G-4G.
Questions:
1 - If it's not a 3g/4g issue; could it be related to where Enhanced email or Stitcher chooses to install itself?
2 - Is there a log somewhere where I could find 'boot' times and any issues relating to reboots? Like a 'minidump' in Windows...
thanks
I, too, have started having unexpected reboots. I can't pinpoint it exactly, but I have also recently isntalled Enhanced Email (trial version).
Reboot Logger
Hey Google is our friend - don't know why I didn't look before but I found this in Android Market.
"Reboot Logger" by Watanabe,Masayuki.
Just installed it - will report back after Thanksgiving (in the U.S. - Thursday)...
(I would post a link but I'm a noob here - and, now I know why I hate myself.)
Looks like promising -
Have yall installed any themes or different battery icons, or anything like that to yours? Mine is 43v3R rooted with the liberty romv2. I was changing a cpl of the icons and experienced a reboot just out of the blue. I got rid of the icons I changed and stayed with the icons that came with the liberty rom and have no issues at all. I do not have enhanced mail on mine.
most bionics will turn off and wont turn back on till you do a battery pull. Its a known issue, all you have to do is google it and it turns up. From what ive read putting the battery on performance mode and putting on detect in pocket will help. Personally it doesnt help, i had the issue with the stock battery so purchased a extended thinking it was the battery, but after doing research i found out it isnt. They say the new OTA should fix it
icons - reboot logger
Thanks - haven't changed any icons BUT I am using HTC Thunderbolt wallpaper. I had a Thunderbolt that had a reboot problem until the OTA before Gingerbread - Verizon offered me the Bionic when I called about my Thunderbolt issues (I had three replacements - all with the same issues).
I will try different wallpaper -
Reboot logger works well but doesn't offer a clue as to what is causing the reboots. Mine has rebooted 2-3 times per day since I installed Reboot Logger(RL).
3 times a day is tolerable but, I would like to get to the bottom of what's causing it.
What IS helpful with RL is that it does show that the reboots are not occuring in any obvious time sequence.
They may be related to push emails coming in from my Exchange server. Not sure - I'll post more as I learn more. Hopefully the upcoming OTA will fix - though my experience with HTC's OTAs does not give me a lot of hope.
Update - Last night, I uninstalled Stitcher - Stitcher frequently throws errors requiring a FORCE CLOSE. I also have kept Blueooth off.
No reboots in 24 hours -
Will reinstall Stitcher in the morning (I need it at the gym)...
Update tomorrow/Monday
Turned Bluetooth ON - no reboots in 36 hours so, It looks like Stitcher may be the culprit - I wonder if Stitcher has issue with the internal/external SD storage scheme.
As I noted previously, Stitcher reports 'force closes' frequently - especially when it's not even active (when I have not loaded it or used it).
(No sooner than I posted this - my phone rebooted. And again, and again will switch off BT - I'm in my office so, there's could be an issue with 3g/4g switching or other interference...)
Have you tried setting the phone to run strictly 3g? I have had no issues at all with mine jumping back and forth between 3g/4g.. I leave mine on 3g to keep it from trying to search for a 4g signal. I never turn bluetooth on, nor do I ever really use the compass. hmmmm... Can you tell me everything you have done to the phone. Apps you have installed, what ROM you using, if you have .886/.893 etc? I'm willing to see how close we are as for as how our phone's are setup and help as much as I can. I have not had a single issue with mine other then that one reboot after changing the battery icon.
After nearly two weeks of monitoring restarts - it appears that the problem is more related to where I am. At my home, restarts are rare and related to Stitcher.
At work in Beverly Hills, CA; restarts occur frequently. I assume it has something to do with 3g/4G switchover/crossover or interference.
I had lots of problems with the Thunderbolt dropping data connections in 90210. I could not use the hotspot. On the Bionic, the hotspot functions really well. I've used it up north near Fresno in 3G only land, here in BH and at home where I have decent 4G coverage.
When I remove Stitcher, the reboot problem disappears. Sometimes when I 'wake' the phone, there is a dialog apologizing for Stitcher having 'force closed' even if I haven't used it for days. Market reviews indicate anecdotally that Stitcher has a problem with force closes. This behavior must also be at the root of some of the reboots.
I've also set all programs not to update automatically - this may have reduced the reboots as well. On average, I'm getting 2-3 reboots per day. More than I would like but, tolerable.
Hi, ever since my droid 4 received the ICS update, ive notciced many bugs which interefere with me using the droid 4, and i was wondering if there were any fixes for them
Could these have been caused because of the way i upgraded the droid 4? I was too impatient to wait for the ICS upgrade to be released in my area when they started to send it out, so i ended up downloading it from here and installing it manually. could that be the cause?
anyways, here is a list of major glitches im experiencing
-touch screen refuses to work for no reason some times at random. it works on the lock screen and on the power off screen, but no where else. only rebooting the phone solves it
-when typing in a field in the browser, when i switch to a different field using the keyboard arrows, it copies everything from the first field to the second one
-browser randomly seems to hang indefinitely when loading a web page. i know its not a web connectivity problem, because when i go force close the browser in the app manager it works fine when i open it again
-sometimes the phone just freezes up entirely for no reason at all, and a hard boot is required. usually happens when using the browser
-sometimes bad lag happens out of nowhere
-the game plants vs zombies sometimes will freeze and reboot the phone by itself

At the risk of sounding like a Verizon CSR, have you tried a factory reset after the install?
I know a lot of people that were having various issues with the ICS update reported performing a factory reset (full wipe) of there phone fixed most of the issues. I've also heard wiping the sd card can sometimes fix issues. I doubt that performing the update manually is the source of your problem (I updated the same way) but you could also try fastbooting ICS to start fresh. Just make sure you back up anything you don't want to lose (pictures, etc.). Good luck!

I doubt your impatience was the cause of the slowness. ICS for the Droid 4 is nice, but is pretty buggy and slow. I've had all of the same issues you've reported including some random reboots. I use my phone a lot, and have a lot of email addresses and a lot of programs in memory constantly doing things, so I'm not surprised that my phone gets bogged down.
I recently loaded up Hashcode's CM10 port onto the phone and I'm telling you it feels like a whole new experience! So far, it's pretty amazing for me, it's been my daily driver for almost a week and I'm just checking for some updates now to fix a minor issue (my Wireless MAC address changes in this ROM). If you're a power user like me, you should really try to load up Safestrap and give AOKP, AOSP or CM10 a whirl!
Hey guys, I'm having GPS issues with my phone. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same.
I'm getting a decently long lock time and then afterwards, every 10-15 mins I'm getting a lock loss followed by a little delay then a lock again.
In case it helps, I'm on stock build KTU84P.N910TUVU1ANJ7.
Consequentially, if someone could help me out by giving me the following files from their phone, it'd be really appreciated:
/system/lib/hw/gps.default.so
/system/lib/libloc_core.so
/system/lib/libloc_api_v02.so
/system/lib/libloc_eng.so
/system/etc/gps.conf
Same here.. Across ROMs(NJ7 based ROM and stock NJ7) as well. Did the compass calibration but didn't fix it. Navigation on this phone is pretty terrible since it loses gps every 15 minutes like what you're seeing.. Any suggestions from anyone would be great!
I flashed the new baseband and still am having the issue of a buggy GPS...
I did have initial issues.
But the compass calibration seems to have resolved most of those.
Though yesterday I did lose the gps signal, which I thought was weird.
It was the first time it did that which I can remember.
It's happened to me on all my Note phones. Samsungs gps is less than spectacular.
Ya I'm having the same issue it doesn't matter the ROM still same issue. But think its a Samsung firmware issue. It works for me initially on a trip A to B but seems way back B to A it stops. Didn't have this issue with note 3. Part of my reason for bigger phone is GPS use so this is irritating. If not fixed with lollipop might have to change.

My Note 4 is currently completely stock/unrooted NK4, and I've seen the same thing - GPS works for several minutes, dies for about 5 seconds, then comes back. I've also once had GPS fail to lock at all until I rebooted the phone. :-/
Oh, well. It's still way better than my old S3 which had been dropped quite a few times.
I'm not having any gps issues. The new updated maps is doing it for me.
But, on other phones I have installed the faster fix app when having gps issues. It can be acquired in the playstore:
Note 4 Bell Canada
Updated 5.0.1
Day 3 Extra Info
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Full day at work 85% battery at the end
Google Chrome PC and Android bookmark history sync works perfectly
Wifi hotspot works perfectly every time ... no dreaded "Limited connectivity" like I used to see with the GS3
Fast charging is awesome .... with the stable battery usage of Note4 with 5.0.1 it is so easy to keep this phone charged.
Bad: My phone keeps taking screenshots when I am on the lock screen and I don't know why.
Day 2 Extra Info:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The Good:
As far as I can tell everything works.
Bluetooth dropouts during locked state drastically reduced ..... sometimes stutters once a few seconds after lock and none observed after (JVC Car Audio Unit)
Menu multitask key is just as snappy as before (I had already disabled Google talkback)
Battery life is great ..... At 6*% after a full day at work ..... my GS3 was often near zero after a ful day in the same location
I can now give permissions to write to a microSD card
Standby battery life is great ...... charged 100% went to sleep .... woke up at 98% (My GS3 would be somewhere between 60 and 70% same location)
Every app I have is behaving normally
The Bad:
I got one random Google + forced close so far (that is no so bad I guess)
Update Process: Smooth as silk, no crashes, no lockups, no forced closures
The UI: New notifications are great, a lot of little improvements including and x if you want to close an app
Performance: same as before ... great no keyboard issues yet, no issues with toggling things on and off, Chrome scrolls web pages smoothy
Apps: All apps seem to work ... no forced closes
Battery: no obvious differences ... to early to tell
Things Fixed: My bluetooth connection stuttered like crazy in the car if the phone was locked .... seems like this was fixed in 5.0.1 ....
Seems like the max volume is louder now
I'm on Bell too and my experience is very similar to yours. So far I'm very happy with the update. No problems and I'm enjoying some of the new changes.

1. Power Saving on/off from setting not working. (No changes when u slide on the slider to on/off, only working via notification toggle)
2. GPU thermal throttling for benchmark. (I'm not a fan of benchmarking, but it's interesting to see the 3D behaviors on 5.0.1 unable to perform as what it should be if the phone temperature not cold enough)
3. Waze graphical glitches.
These are some of the possible bug that I realized and it need to be fixed in the next update.
However, overall experience still not that bad. The main issue for me now is the Waze graphical glitches which force me to temporary using Nokia Here Map at the moment.

I'm from Malaysia too. But i don't have power saving problem.
Wake did not work properly.
Recent apps slower than before. Like 2 second lag.
No more option to change lockscreen animations
Data usage unable to view data usage in short period of time.
Some features were removed after upgrade.
Only useful additional thing is smart lock

As on 5.0.1, there are Pros & Cons.
Pros:
1. The finger print now is much much better than Kitkat
2. Feel like a bit faster.
Cons:
1. The Bluetooth is not so clear like on Kitkat and time to time no voice even if still on Bluetooth connecting. (Already try to unpair and repair, still not ok)
2. A bit warmer than Kitkat.
3. Eat more RAM than before
4. After sync calendar with Kies, all calendar on device are gone but still existing in outlook calendar.
Remark: I'm on SM-N9100 DUOS
Anyone having trouble with super su not granting privilege after rooting in G ?
I hate the lag and switch between screens on the brightness slider. I've gone back to kk
My experience has been great when it works (smoother UI, better battery life surprisingly).
One major issue though. 3 times, the phone rebooted overnight. All three times, it was while it was plugged into the charger, and it was stuck on the SAMSUNG logo (with bubbles animation). But I cannot get past it, and trying to restart via holding down the power button does not work.
Has anyone else experienced this yet?
Finally. Me too. Samsung Lollipop Update Problem

I AM experiencing this. I honestly think this update has broken my phone. My Samsung Galaxy S4 - when turned on, stays on the logo screen. Luckily for you it doesn't always do that but my phone won't even fully start up so I haven't been on it for two days. I really suggest you back up your phone because there may be a chance of it not turning on ever, like mine and a few phone shops are saying I need to completely wipe it. Does anyone know how to help? It would mean the world, thanks!
Battery life pretty disappointing. getting a good 10-14 hours under light usage. Heavy usage is out of the question if I'm leaving the house.
I downloaded the update yesterday and until now I must say it's amazing. Problems I had before with kitkat are gone. The speed is much faster. It's all so smooth and flat. I like it. I can't understand why everyone has issues with it. I'm using Note 4 SM-N910F.
