I grabbed an unlocked Nexus 6 off Amazon and signed up for Google Fi a month ago. A spot just opened on my friends Sprint Sero account (5 lines for $200 plan that was popular years ago) with unlimited data. I know the phone will work, except I can't be sure if tethering will work?
Could someone comment if they tried the same phone and what needs to be done?
TIA
no one has any insight?
well, tethering generally works, no problem. what you need to find out if itll work in Sprint, via that program, and how much itll cost. im not on sprint, so cant answer you.
this is how I got it to work on sprint while ruining 5.1.1
1. Enable developer mode (Go to Settings -> About phone, and click on the build number until the developer mode is enabled).
2. Enable USB debugging under Settings -> Developer options
3. Connect the device with a USB cable to a computer with the Android SDK platform tools installed
4. Start an adb shell: adb shell
5. In the adb shell, run this command: settings put global tether_dun_required 0
Edit the Build.Prop
6. Then open a root explorer and open build.prop add net.tethering.noprovisioning=true to bottom
sprint sold phones come unlocked, there is no difference between a sprint nexus and an unlocked version ( unless you buy the international version)
still no delete option on xda
still no delete option on xda

So heres the deal. I bought this G1 because the price was so cheap and now I'm tracking down problem after problem. If you've read my post's you know I fixed the simcard port already to recognize simcards and not kill them, second problem reported was the phone would reset contacts every ngiht. I'm guessing this can be done through software updates/ROMS. Well I have Tmo with a full smart card data package. At first the guy selling it puts in his card and its lights up but won't activate saying it needs to talk to googles servers to create and account. He said he didn't have a data plan so I thought nothing of it. I get it home and fix it and load up my simcard and log into my gmail account with no problems, it loads up the phone and everythings great. I hard reset it and give it to my friend. He has the $10 nonsmartphone plan on his account. He puts it in and creates and new account and activates the phone no problems. It gives him full internet, youtube, etc... for about 5 hours. Then it cuts out and says he needs to upgrade his plan to use this phone. No more web or youtube. But whats weird is he could launch his browser and it would load google. He could even search google and wuold get live results. But if he clicked one it went to tmo's upgrade page. So I hard reset it again with the idea I'm gonna root it and repair it or even see if the problem is him not having a proper smartphone plan but now the phone won't connect to google servers with my sim card. I know its find because I can get online with my 3 other phones with no problem. But on the G1 now it sees the bar's and the 3G logo flash's a couple times then it times out and says it can't get a reliable signal to google servers. Anyideas what I can do to this thing? I was gonna root but you have to have the phone on and active to see hwat version you have. Any help would rock!
Thanks

good way to activate it.. to be able to root it and from there can pass the google account set up and figure out the problem..also could be internal antenna issue(just guessing) or can try do a factory reset again..

forget it: just use wifi:
really don’t you just have to:
1. go to rc29
2. on “click android” part setprop persist.service.adb.enable 1
3. on adb: am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.settings/.Settings
1. Just put in whatever SIM you are using, then on the activation screen, hit Menu then click on APN. Click add APN and put your company’s internet settings in (ask your provider for these settings). Then add the data plan to your account for the day and remove it after you have activated the phone OR get a friend with a data plan to activate it for you.
The following procedure can be used if none of the above are available to you…
I. Getting Back to RC29
1. This procedure requires you to be on an old version of Android (RC29 aka Android 1.0) so you must use our unroot procedure first and get to RC29, DO NOT DO THE STEP THAT TAKES YOU BACK TO CUPCAKE, skip it and come back to here once you are on RC29.
How To Get Back to RC29
2. You also need a WiFi connection to do this procedure.
II. Setting Up ADB
1. After you are back to RC29, follow our How To Setup ADB procedure EXACTLY as it is written. Once you are able to see your phone’s serial number after typing ADB devices in the command prompt, then come back to this procedure.
IIIa. Activating the Phone Over WiFi WITHOUT a SIM.
1. Borrow someone’s SIM card then procedure to Section IIIb.
IIIb. Activating the Phone Over WiFi WITH a SIM but No Data Plan.
1. Turn on the phone, you will get a Touch Here to Begin Screen.
2. Open the phone’s keyboard and hit enter once then type the following on the phone’s keyboard:
setprop persist.service.adb.enable 1
3. Then hit enter.
4. Hit enter AGAIN and type the following on the phone’s keyboard:
telnetd
5. Then hit enter.
6. With the phone still plugged in and the command prompt still up on your computer screen from the ADB process, type the following in the command prompt on your computer with hitting an enter at the end of each line:
cd\
cd c:\AndroidSDK\Tools\
adb devices
*this should bring up a serial number if your phone is connected, if not then redo the setup ADB process.
7. Now, in command prompt on your computer, type the following with hitting enter at the end of each line:
adb shell
am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.settings/.Settings
8. On your phone should pop up the Android Settings screen, you can now choose a Wifi network to connect to then hit back and finish the activation process over Wifi. Enjoy!
I appreciate the tips, but,,,,,, screw android! I''ll just sell the phone off for parts. If I had wanted an iphone I would of bought an iphone. I'm just gonna stick with WM where you put in your sim card, then you can make calls.
PROBLEM SOLVED!
I finally spoke to a knowlegable TMo support tech today and found out whats going on. Your simcard has to be told its a G1 or you will get crazy anomolies like contacts dissapearing to not being able to activate anymore. The support guy who happened to be the 1 that was knowlegable said he's seen it hundreds of times with the G1. You put your simcard in activate google and everything works fine for a couple hours or days. Then you will start getting bugs and weird issues. Then the phone won't activate no matter what simcard you put in. At that point you must call Tmo and tell them to activate you phone as A G1 and remote reset it and all will fix itself. Thanks for the help guys.
One more question. Are all android phones like this? Or just G1's? I hate not being able to plug and swap out simcards from phone to phone depending on my mood.
I had an issue with activating as well but after about 12 hours,I finally got it. Anyway..about the G1 thing you were talking about, when I activated mine, I got an e-mail from Google thanking me for activating my Nexus...humm..didn't know I had a Nexus..lol
Anyway,glad you got it sorted.
Sent from my G1 from the only app on my main homescreen.
I bought a Sprint HTC Hero 200 from ebay. I tried to activate it to Sprint without data, but failed. Now, I want to activate the phone to Alltel, if possible. Is there any guy who knows how to do it?
Whenever I opened the Alltel website, it asked my zip (city). Once I entered my zip (columbus, oh), the web turns to Verizon web page automatically.
Please give me a tip or information to activate my phone to Alltel.
(Do I need to flash my phone with Alltel Rom? I have flashed my phone with CM6. Is it fine?)
Well it sounds like your phone has a bad ESN number. Good luck with that.
Sounds like the Alltel market in your area is already transitioned over to Verizon.
Posted with my Alltel Hero using Android Tapatalk
The phones having a BAD ESN with Sprint has no effect on using it with Verizon/Alltel as they have no way (other than calling Sprint and asking) to check to see if the ESN is bad... I have an Sprint HTC Hero that I'm using with PagePlus (Verizon MVNO, Activated no problem) just I don't have my data working (yet!)

How did you activate the sprint hero to PagePlus. My phone is not a BAD ESN. I just don't want to spend my money with data plan in Sprint. It's not worthy because I have wifi around me almost always. That's why I didn't activate the phone to Sprint.
Now, this is my question. could you tell me how to activate the sprint hero to PagePlus? I want to follow your step. I had tried it, but I didn't know how to program my phone for PagePlus. Please let me know. Thanks for your help.

I really appreciate you, TpyoKnig.
Now, FINALLY I activated my Sprint HTC Hero to PagePlus. I don't need to waste money for data plan (at least $30/mo). As TpyoKing helped me to activate it, let me post some information I have done for my Hero, in order to help those who want to activate Sprint HTC Hero to PagePlus. If you have any question, tell me. (I'm not a dealer for pageplus. so please don't give me any money.)
Here are what I've got. (I added my experience.)
1) thing you have to have is root for your phone, if you have that then great! Also you need to be running a NON-Froyo Rom (the froyo roms, I've tested thus far) are lacking EPST which will be used later to program the phone. --> My case, I installed NFX-Hero ROM. After I activated my phone to PagePlus, I'm running CM6 ROM. It works fine now.
2) Search the Market (Via WiFi) and download 'MSL reader'
3) Write down that MSL (will need it later)
4) reboot phone
5) download pageplus.prl from a web and put on root of SD card
6) on your phone pull up the dialer (hit the green button) and put in ##775# (##PRL#) and put in your MSL code you got earlier
7) select "update PRL", drop down "Folder" to "SD Card" and push down on your navigation ball and then long press the "menu" key to make your keyboard lower and select pageplus.prl then select "ok", then press your "menu" key and hit commit modification
8) phone will reboot (Congratulations you'r now on Verizon towers!)
9) Get PagePlus to activate phone (eg, contact a local dealer) , tell them you are manually programming a Sprint phone and give them the IMEI and that you need your MIN/MDN and SID. --> In my case, I purchased pageplus from Kittywireless.com. They promptly provide MIN/MDN and SID.
10) on your phone, pull up the dialer and dial ##YOUR6DIGITALMSL# , then select edit mode
11) change Mobile Directory Number (MDN=your new phone number from pageplus) to what is given to you by PP/dealer
12) change MSID to your MIN (Mobile Identification Number) as suplied by PP/Dealer
12) press menu
13) commit changes
I'm really happy.

It's 2 years late coming, but thank you for this information. I was able to help a friend to get his phone working on PagePlus. I got the PRL file from here.
Is there a way to determine which LTE band (4 or 13) the X is connected to? I've found one Field Test mode with Anycut, but it seems to be limited to providing info on the CDMA side of the house, indeed it's the same screen I could access with a shortcut on my Droid X.
Advanced Signal Status pulls up another screen, the same you used to be able to access via *#*#INFO*#*#, but this doesn't provide band info either.
I'm looking or the Same options

I'm looking for this as well. Subscribing so I can get info.
I've been looking for this as well. A fellow in the Note 3 forums, who seems very well-versed in LTE networks, told me there is no engineering mode on the Moto X.
I have been trying to figure out a way to do this for a while now; doesn't look like this functionality is there.
Don't know if this will help, but if the launcher you're using supports activities, make an activity from: Settings >Phone Info (.RadioInfo). Lots of data, but I'm on a T-Mobile Moto X running Net10 ATT as my carrier and don't have the correct SIM currently to configure ATT LTE so can't test whether this works.

Hey guys, I don't know if this will help in any way, but here's a thread I've had a sub to for a while because I find it interesting and I might take advantage of it on my Nexus 5 in the future. It's basically how to access the menu you're looking for, but on the Nexus 5. Now, I wouldn't recommend installing/running his app because quite frankly, I have no idea what it actually does or what would happen if you ran it on the Moto X instead of the device he intended. The part that may or may not have any relevance to our situation is what he types into the adb shell to manually start the menu:
Code:
am start -n com.lge.SprintHiddenMenu/.sprintspec.Debug
Now, obviously the "lge" part threw up a flag since this phone isn't made by them. The "Sprint" part might also throw up a flag, but according to his post, even though it's a Sprint debug menu, every model of the Nexus 5 (North American model at least) has it. My thought process here though, is I don't know where on the Nexus 5 that "com.lge.SprintHiddenMenu/.sprintspec.Debug" points to, but if we found the corresponding location on our Moto X, we could find out if any menu like it exists, and if so, the name. We could then proceed to run that command in an adb shell, modifying the name of the menu accordingly. Now, I don't know all there is to know about all of this, so if I said something stupid, please forgive me. Just trying to help out a bit, and also wouldn't mind access to this menu (if it exists) for tinkering purposes.
Can't get SPC/ MSL on Windows Phone 8 HTC 8XT Sprint.
You should be able to call Sprint to get them, just provide the IMEI or whatever they ask for. As long as you *had* an account with them you should be fine. If you can get DM Mode running you could get it yourself.
Dial ##MFG# in the normal dialer menu and go to Diag and flip the DM Mode switch.
Drivers might get installed automatically, but I'm not sure.
not that easy

more often than not, the carriers won't give you the code especially if you don't have an account. and if you had an account, you probably wouldn't need it. also once you do the ##mfg# and select diag, guess what.... it asks for the "user unlock code" which as far as i can tell, is the six digit MSL we are trying to get. so you never get to the dm mode switch.
the problem with some of the methods that i've previously used like dfs or cdma workshop is i can't get windows to recognize the phone to prompt for a diag driver or in other words it won't show up as needing the diag driver or as a port, so i can't connect it to dfs, cdma workshop etc. i can get into the bootloader screen by holding the buttons during power on and windows then looks for a "usb bldr" driver and installs the old windows mobile interface, which i thought was great at first thinking i'd set the port manually but i couldn't get the device to show up there either.
can you or anybody offer any further advice, i know this isn't a new subject to say the least and i appreciate all the good info i've gotten from you guys over the years, i always type xda at the end of my google searches because there are so many great developers here. i have an 8xt bought from an auction, its awesome, i am a page plus dealer and i activated it through the dealer portal, it went through fine, but without being able to at least change the prl, or manually program it, i can't use it! help!

I don't remember where I found the unlock code, but I think its in my 8XT thread.
HTC has always had their own drivers for their diagnostic modes. If you still have an 8XT with 8.0 GDR2 or 3 try installing the webserver app and using the native toast launcher on one of their apps. I would work on one of those again, but its been forever since I had mine. My only issue is that the Qualcomm Diag mode (not the power+volup) seems to be in READ_ONLY mode. I'd try a few things first, but I'd be nice if someone could donate one of their old ones, so I can work on it again.
I'd recommend the ATIV S Neo if you want to attempt to reprogram stuff, its just much easier and you can do it on the phone too.

can you please tell me how can i found user unlock code or application or program to find security code
Disclaimer: This requires modifying the apns-conf.xml file in /system/etc, I am not responsible if your phone is damaged.
I have not tried Voice/SMS as I only need it for the unlimited data, YMMV.
Requires root
Works with international and T-Mobile converted to international phones
Use root explorer (or TWRP file manager) and replace apns-conf.xml file at "/system/etc" with the one attached
You'll have to click the R/W button to remount /system as writable (it will display R/O when it is currently writable) if you're using root explorer
Delete telephony.db at "/data/user_de/0/com.android.providers.telephony/databases". You don't need to replace it as it will regenerate upon reboot.
Go-to your APN screen and click reset to default from the 3 dot menu
Reboot
It may have connected automatically or not, either way go back to your APN settings and make sure Visible Internet (VSBLINTERNET) is selected.
If you can't get it to activate you might have to resort to using another compatible device like an iPhone, the oldest compatible iPhone is an iPhone 6
If it connects upon boot and then goes to no signal a couple minutes later until the next reboot, lock the network to LTE only mode via any method, I personally use Toggle Network Type widget (the big L) https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/widget-toggle-network-type-5-0-xda-t2945406/amp/
You may have to switch to a custom rom if you continue to have issues, personally, I had to switch to Bootleggers.
Enjoy that 40$/Month unlimited data!
For anyone still using this guide today. Just switched to Lineage OS 17.1 on a Oneplus 7 Pro and it seems the directory has changed to "/data/misc/apns/apns-conf.xml" with android 10.
To get this method working I:
1) Made a folder called "misc" on the root of my phone
2) Transferred the apns-conf.xml into it.
3) Flashed Lineage OS & Gapps and made sure it booted.
4) Factory reset through TWRP without deleting the internal storage.
5) Mounted "/data" within TWRP.
6) Used TWRP move the folder created in step 1 & 2 to the "/data" directory.
7) Rebooted into TWRP into system and proceeded with the initial setup.
Hope this helps anyone trying to use Visible on a custom ROM.

I was jk about money, I just want to help Anyone I can even tho it is a late in the game for 6T lol Not for me tho.. Anyways on to getting your native VISIBLE Texting NG AND PICTURES WORKING!!!!!!!!!! NO JOKE! But as a bonus this morning I did get incoming phone calls coming in also. Not my visible number out yet. Simple.. Done in a blink.
You have 60 seconds to complete this from 2fa in signal.. Pardon my tech talk I've never had help, everything I do is self taught. Download signal. Have your oneplus 6t w working data, i used my visible Sim. Also have your old phone used w visible handy. On your 6t pull up signal and set it up til you get the code you need from visible sms. Pop Sim out n into old visible compatible phone, second you get that code.. Yep, back into 6t w visible Sim and manually enter code. BOOM. there's your texting, so far better than my hpp ghost phone visible sent.. The not receiving texts and call sometimes. So far since 330 I haven't been yelled at for not answering a certain someone.
To the outbound native visible phone # voice. Simple
You guessed maybe. Download your fav wifi text/calling app. Ive been using textnow. Install and get the phone number. Ik. Bear w me my friends. After that still being inside original or working visible phone pull up dialer. Dial *72********** stars being your telephone number for textnow. Return Sim to 6t. Done. All calls I'm assuming once they hit the server get immediately forwarded to your text now number. Just can't call out on your visible number.. But that's what I got my last 12 hrs playing w this issue.
Ik, but not really. So shout out to everyone that did the real work, I just found work arounds. Also I'm idk.. On corvus 10 or something. Got kali nethunter installed if that matters. Any questions lmk. Kinda dope, it's pretty quick
