can someone help me plz

Non stock-based ROMs require an unlocked bootloader. Flashing the stock FTF has always fixed this problem for me. Try again, with all the WIPE checkboxes ticked in Flashtool, and don't exclude anything.
P.S. Please reupload the images, if they are necessary.

it worked after flashing ftf for 3 times
but if i want to use cm rom then i'll need to unlock the phone but i'll lose brave engine and other things
is it possible to re lock it again and restore the ta backup ???
will that work or it's not possible

That's actually what I do: take a TA backup, use a custom ROM, then restore and lock if I feel like going back to stock. There's a simple tutorial on the Backup TA thread (search for it). You'll have to be rooted though, and if you're on 5.0.2 or above, you'll probably have to unlock just to root, which is obviously useless for you. I suggest flashing JB (easiest to root) or KK (don't remember if you need unlock for this), root, and take a backup. After that, you can unlock and flash anything with no worries. ?

You need to read carefully.
The ROM *requires* nAa kernel to work and should be flashed in CWM recovery.
Sent from my X8 using XDA
flash this with flashtool. this is stock rom for x8 untouched so you have to root it and make other steps again!

so will my phone get fixed with flashtool?>
Why don't you try???

the rom is for nah pc companion should work ,,, or DL flashtool and the x8 ftp file if you whant change your baseband to ,, root and copy paste the xreco again happy soft brick my friend enjoy
you can still recover your back up after you install xreco
Not xRecovery. Just root with x8toolbox, unlock bootloader, install a kernel and flash the ROM in CWM recovery. xRecovery is old, it's not used anymore.
for now i am doing the 2nd option here in this link ...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12442257#post12442257 ....then ill need to get a custom rom rite??

2) flash a kernel
3) wipe data via CWM
4) install rom
5) enjoy

thanks in advanced
Yes the rooting process is safe. Its just not safe to do a factory reset or data wipe if you are on a lpy-lpf etc kernel.
ok,so whati need to do,i downgrade my phone to direct rootable rom using pc odin, root it then install cwm..and if i want to install an ics rom,i use the cwm is it and keep my cf root..then i will have an updated rom with root and cwm...am i correct?

no no no, thats not the way it works, no need to downgrade, but there are some other things to consider as the yellow triangle that appears after flashing a cf root.tar, i thing the safer and quicker method would be this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647148
as it says, just dont make any backup or restore because it dont work but the root will work fine
what if i wanted to flash a custom rom?for example the kingdroid..so,i need to install cwm is it?
Flash Using Mobile ODIN
With root on, you can always use mobile ODIN to flash to any firmware of your choice. No binary count and also no triangle.

You can use MO to flash any STOCK firmware of your choice.
For custom ones you need to have a working CWM Recovery.

There's something wrong with the formatted strings in settings APP...

I've just flashed my XZ1C to the newest Customized UK firmware with US OEM.sin (for fingerprint sensor) without flashing /data.
Everything is OK until I go to the settings APP...

I don't know it's caused by the newest firmware it self or it's because I didn't flash /data ?.
Any ideas about it?

Factory reset might fix it, but most likely a complete reflash, wiping data. This has been reported before on the thread, happens when you try to mix-and-match firmwares.
The following won't be news to people more experienced than I, but I managed at one point to get my phone into what I presume is a bootloop. Waiting for the right moment, and then connecting it in flash mode to the computer allowed me to use Xperia Companion to reinstall the current firmware correctly. I'm glad that Sony provides this functionality in its PC/Mac software. Perhaps in first backing up just what you need through Xperia Companion, then doing a software repair (reset/flash), and then restoring your (minimal) data would do the trick. I know how annoying these little anomalies can be, I had the weird experience of having GBoard reinstall itself on every reboot until I "fixed" the installation as I outlined above. Good luck!

Thanks for reply!
I'll try to do factory reset the phone. But I'm still wondering why this will cause the Settings APP to work like this ?
I had the problem when i first flashed the german 8.49. I had the same weird menus and txt because i had the origianl us oem. i reflashed w/ complete custom de (I don't have tmobile) and everything is back to normal. Also, I got the ota update to the current version. I assumed the problems were because the us oem was outdated, but maybe not.

Forget about what i say up here. I just want to root it please
Unlock the bootloader, install twrp recovery through fastboot, flash a custom kernel and install Magisk.
You will find guides to everything what i said so i don't need to write instructions here, look them up yourself.

https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/development/kernel-elitekernel-v1-t3427549 - download this kernel and flash it in recovery
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445 - flash this right after the kernel and you should be rooted
If you haven't unlocked the bootloader yet, I suggest doing it first: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
EDIT: Root without unlocking BL: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/recovery-root-mm-575-lb-t3418714 (get all 3 zips, rename the kernel zips to .ftf, flash kernel575.ftf with flashtool - reboot - enable dev mode, run bat script - reboot in recovery and flash supersu.zip - flash kernel291.ftf, reboot, done (for future versions you'll want to only flash the kernel from sony's ftf after rooting

How to downgrade from Pie to Oreo?

Been trying to root my XZ1 compact for a while now. Never knew it'd be this complicated tbh compared to other Android phones like Samsung or OnePlus. I'm following j4nn's guide, but I'm stuck on step 2 where I can't find an older firmare on XperiFirm (all 3 UK firmwares are on pie). I've already bricked my Z5 compact which is stuck in bootloop, can't afford to brick another Sony phone.
Does anyone know where I can find an Oreo firmware to downgrade in order to proceed to the next step?
If it's in a bootloop, then it's not bricked. You probably need to format one of the partitions, maybe data, and/or re-flash matching partitions. I'd just start over from a stock rom for the Z5c (there was no XZ5)
For the XZ1, check out this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...int-wi-fi-calling-step-by-step-guide.4502093/
Where eparr has a link for an Oreo firmware (he needs to root before modding the OEM partition).
Good luck!

Might sound odd but where is the actual link to the firmware? All thats attached is an apk file and pdf's.
Did you look through the PDFs? They're how-to guides, which include a link to the firmware.
> Download the XZ1-Compact_MetroPCS_VoLTE+Pie+FP.zip (5.2GB).

So I've been trying to flash a stock rom that I downloaded for the Z5c using Newflasher. However everytime I try to it keeps giving me this error:

Is your phone in flash mode? I think it should be a blue light that you get after plugging in while holding the volume down(? might be up) button.
You could also try a different usb port on the computer (try without a hub) and make sure you have the right drivers installed.
But either way, that error is likely a PC software one. Though it does depend on what the phone is able of doing, which you haven't said.
