Hi guys,
I'm asking if there is a feed or something other for edge screen features to unlock my phone swiping along the edge screen...I already use this feature to see notifications and news, but I want to know if I can use this swipe just to unlock my phone...
Anyone can help me? Thank you
Doesn't look like there's a way to do it. Besides, it takes a few seconds for the information stream to come up on the edge screen after you swipe anyway - it's much faster to just press the home key and be done with it.
Certainly the use of physical keys is faster, but I miss the double tap that I had on my old lg... I would like something like this without using physical buttons on my Edge+ without root or lose warranty
@nemero16 there is a way to do that with an app called "shortcusts for s6 edge" in the play store
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60292352
You could use @trailblazer101 's Quick Launch feed to unlock your device and launch directly into any app you choose. Does not require root.

Hello. I was just wondering if any of you out there (more specifically the people who own the Galaxy Note) if you know if it is possible to disable the finger touch input on the Galaxy Note when using the stylus? What I mean is, if you were to want to use JUST the stylus and NOT your fingers to navigate around on the Galaxy Note, is there an option that makes that possible or...?
Hopefully you guys understand what I'm trying to get an answer to.
Thanks!
there is no disable option however if you want to navigate your device using the stylus only, this is done pretty easily. The only buttons that you cannot use with the s pen are the hardware back and menu button however Samsung have created the same functions of the back and menu button if you use gestures on the pen i.e. if you keep your finger on the button of the s pen and swipe left on the screen, it acts the same as the back button likewise, if you swipe upwards, it acts like the menu button.
So in other words, what your saying is that the finger touch input will still be enabled even if I use the stylus?

First of all dont insult it sayin stylus , its S-pen and is way more functional than so called stylus.
I wonder why you want to disable finger touch. if u dont want ur capacitive back button to get pressed when drawing (most of the users were facing it), then let me tell you that newer roms are taking care of that. i.e while drawing if you hit back button, it wont work unless you lift the S pen.
if your requirement is something else, then you can use gloves
If the finger touch won't be disabled when using the S-Pen, then one must not touch or rest his/her palm while using the S-Pen. It would have been more comfortable if the palm could rest the screen while writing. Yes, gloves may be useful here..
Currently ICS and JB TW ROM's have S-note where you can enable palm rejection. But otherwise you cannot disable the touch on your touch screen
When you do some practice you can draw while resting your palm on the screen without touching the menu or back button.. I use to take notes in college only on my fone and it's very much familiar to use spen now

I upgraded to the S6 Edge from an S3. On the S3 the home screens and app menu wrapped around (i.e. swiping right on the far right screen brought me to the far left screen) and if I pressed on the dot corresponding to any home or app screen it would navigate directly to that one. On the S6 Edge, screens do not wrap around and pressing on any dot that's not next to the screen I'm on just moves it one screen in the right direction, but not all the way there. This is a pretty frustrating way to navigate as it means more swiping. Anybody able to get some better screen navigation for home and app screens or am I stuck with this?
Yes, this is my EXACT problem. Is there some magic setting that unlocks this feature? I didn't realize how much I relied on the navigation dots till that functionality disappeared with my new S6! It's such a little thing, but it's making using the new phone really, really aggravating. Has anybody found a solution to this?
ETA: I too upgraded from an S3, but to a plain S6, not the S6 Edge. I don't know how I feel about the fact that this is apparently a problem across phones . . .
Also, while we're at it, can we make the menu button come back? I miss it. . So to recap: 1) navigation dots, 2) screen wrap around navigation, 3) menu button. All missing. All essential.

Agreed! This is terrible! Is this one of those Touch Wiz cuts that everyone is praising? Ugh, I miss the dots and the wraparound home screens.
From what I've read, there's no solution, but I won't accept it until I read it on XDA.
Pressing the power button when using pattern lock does not bring up the pattern lock screen. Instead there's a stupid swipe screen first.
Has a way been found to disable that swipe screen & go straight to the pattern lock screen?
I remember this first appeared with the Marshmallow update with my Note 5. Lots of people complained about it, don't think a fix was found. I just lived with it & now I'm used to it. In fact I totally forgot about it until reading your post.
OK. Let's try another approach.
While looking into this I learned that setting security to "None" works. Tried it, & it does seem to.
I need a lock, though. Sooo...what about using a third party swipe lock? Do any support Trusted Devices?
I have mine set up as swipe to unlock with a password, no pin, no pattern. I also use fingerprint and iris to unlock. Most of the time I also have a trusted device (Gear S2 watch) connected that prevents my phone from asking for the password. There is also a setting for unlocking with the home button instead of pressing the power button. Go to Settings: Display: Navigation bar: Unlock with home button. So for me, with my watch connected, I just hard press where the home button is on the screen and I'm unlocked, no swiping! You can use this with or without AOD.
LOL, I guess I'm having trouble even accepting a non solution from XDA.
Bumping for more ideas/solutions.
Can I maybe disable it with BK Disabler (if so, I haven't found a way).

The answer is in the post right above yours. Go to settings>display>navigation bar and turn on "Unlock with Home Button".
I get what that says, however, I use the LED cover. When opening the cover it powers on the phone. I want to open & unlock...not open, swipe, & unlock...not open, press, unlock.
Basically, the only way I've found to disable the swipe screen is to disable security completely. I want the lock, though.
Method on my Note 8, Android 7.1.1
Settings, Navigation Bar, set Unlock with Home button to on. After that if you hold the home button it will skip the swipe to unlock screen. For me it takes me to my pin screen directly.

I prefer the fingerprint. Mine is set up that even if it's showing the AOD, as soon as I press the fingerprint sensor, it's INSTANTLY unlocked and showing the home screen. By far the fastest way.

solution
...........you must have installed a third party free software, like mobogenie e.t.c,so go to your settings and find permissions in there you might find a permission regarding your lock screen dont allow any non-samsung apps access to it,and that should do it,lemme know if that did the trick.ciao..........( i copy this from another web site)
This works for me. I uninstall everything which I install today., becouse swipe screen start today.
Sorry for my bad english
hey... I'm lookin for a solution on this as well
android 4.3 and kitkat we didn't have fingerprint... but we didn't have to deal with swiping all the damn time every time we turned the screen off
this sucks... want to keep the screen fingerprint/pattern without the swipe to unlock bit
There is a very discrete menu button in the upper left hand corner of the first unlock screen. That will give you the option to turn it off.

Screenshot? I'm not seeing it.
This has been on basically every android phone since lollipop. just get used to it. There's no way to change it
I agree with OP; having two lock screens is dumb, especially with the secure one just being on a blank screen - no wallpaper.

You are incorrect My LG G4 running Marshmallow I was able to disable the stupid swipe first screen somehow... I know it's possible to do on my new to me LG V20 running Oreo.
I mean seriously you said "just get used to it" on XDA forums? The entire point of these forums was to customize our devices and not to accept the default. If I wanted somebody else to tell me what I wanted I'd be a sheep buying an iPhone.
The home button thing isn't working for me because my V20 doesn't have a home button and for security reasons I don't want to use fingerprint or facial recognition.

For security reasons? Are you scared your device sends your encrypted fingerprints and face image to Samsung so they can sell it to other people?
With every new device, especially from Samsung, and new iteration of Android, it becomes increasingly more difficult to change and mod things. Fewer and fewer mods are being made and become available with every new release. You can see it in the Xposed repository, as well. I doubt disabling the swipe-to-enter pin/password/pattern is very high on anyone's list of things to change. Most people have accepted it and gotten used to it. It's not really all that much of an inconvenience. It adds maybe half a second to the unlocking process.
If you want something that's quicker, just use the fingerprint scanner. Oh, wait...
I have this on the galaxy s7 active on nougat and I'm looking to get rid of it as well...
well Oreo update its gone... Oreo update also isn't very stable... how can I remove this on Nugat? even with root acess? while still keeping the stock security system?
Anyone ever heard of a way to remap the button on the S Pen?
I rarely use the Air menu in fact I actually disabled it in options.
I do however use the pen in my hand probably 95% of the time, I love the precision as well as having the ability to hover over something without clicking it like a mouse can.
My only thought is that it would be amazing to be able to press the button and have it register as a tap at the current location instead of having it pop up in the air menu.
I also would love to be able to modify that SVG Circle that Prince the current pin location on screen to something more visible and possibly add a trail or something. I'm guessing this would require rooting. I am a long time desktop developer but this is my first time really delving into Android and I have noticed so many hidden services and apps that I would love to kill but I can't so it looks like I may have to root anyway.
That prints* sorry I tried to edit the typos but the save wouldn't send. I'm assuming my you block extension here is blocking some script. I've pretty much disabled 90% of the functionality on this phone just to help secure it that's another thing I need to look into browser security.
+1 on remapping the pen button

Yeah I think there's a lot of potential for some really helpful and amazing functions. First time I used this and noticed it could track on screen without touch I thought that was something very special. And then when I found that it could register a button press while hovering I immediately thought of thousand applications for this.
Just one off the top of my head. Imagine having an actual useful text to clipboard function where you simply hover the cursor over text you wanted and click the button to highlight and let go of button to stop highlighting. It would make copying text on the phone just like using a mouse. I am so sick of having to long press and stay completely still for the damn thing to register. We shouldn't have to do that with this s pen.
I have tried before on rooted note 3 to remap the s pen button but the phone didn't recognize the command... always pop up s pen menu. I think surely you need root before trying or try adb push.
Regards
Conito, I would love to hear more in-depth description of your attempt to remap it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.spencontrol
this might be an option if you have rooted your phone.
it doesn't outright remap your button, but does let you execute commands by drawing lines or symbols while holding the button.
I haven't tested it since the note 2 though because I no longer root devices.
I have even wrote to Samsung asking for this. I want to be able to remap it for the eye dropper to when I'm drawing. It's set as the eraser from Samsung so hopefully someone will one day find a way to at least change the default tool (eraser) That might be easier than a whole other app or something.

Sorry mate you have to quote, I didn't see your post until now.
I just try to remap with applications like xposed additions and stuff like that. But the app didn't recognize when I pressed the button. So the only thing we can do is get into the app that manage the spen command and edit it with tools or things like that. I remember that some guy in the note 3 forum develop a simple app that can launch that application. So maybe that could be the solution: edit the behavior of the original spencommand app.
My best regards.
Hey,
Not sure if anyone else has noticed but after the OneUI update I cant swipe down from top left to resize windows.
This was a really useful productivity feature when multitasking (especially at work).
you used to be able to enable "popup view" then you could swipe down from top left to "pop-out" windows but now the only way to do this is a long-winded long press on multiview window then long press again on the top of app then select pop-up view... its much less effective than just swiping down (also you need to follow this same process for each window you want to have floating...
Does anyone know how to get the older much better way of working again? - or has it gone for good?! :crying:
Cheers

It was already discussed a few times. It's removed, all the good multiwindow features that we had in nougat/oreo in galaxy phones are gone. The oneUI solution is close to the google stock one. No swipe from corner, no menu between two split screen apps, no fast way to split screen via holding recents or swipe/hold (but it fires google assistant for example), no hold card in recents for fast split or popout. Everything was removed and this is really bad for my productivity. Feature that was marketed, especially with the note 9 that is phone for productivity and multitasking, feature that samsung were praised for how much better is vs the other android makers solution - removed. Well, good job.
Wow, I had not realised all. Of that is now gone... Sadness!!

Wrong, if you mean split screen mode it still exists. On OneUi you gota open recent apps and then hold down on app icon to get a menu and from there you got split screen mode. Also popup window exists still aswell. Which can be found in same menu as split screen. Swipe from corner can be enabled again in settings on One UI

Read my post again, I never said those features are removed. We(I) were talking about the shortcuts that were fast and convenient. Simple two examples:
I am watching youtube, decides I want to also msg on viber. Before I can only hold recents - open viber and start typing without the video interruption. Right now you will go to recents, video WILL interrupt, you will press the icon on the card, select split screen, then viber, then you will press play and wait for the video to start. Second scenario is when you decide you want to switch two split screen apps place - there is no mid menu anymore, so you need to close/open them. pop-out is also a lot slower to do and with more steps. Generally it's 3-4 times slower to do the same now vs oreo and the funny thing is - they easily could had avoided that - popout from corner option in the advanced menu, swipe recents and hold for instant split screen (right now it's like that for google assistant - swipe and hold, never mistrigger it so it's good) and return of the mid menu between two split apps. Simple, but they removed it all. They even removed in the newer second base that was released after the first one a leftover for hold recents when navigation bar is on for instant split screen.
I am still expecting this option to be reenabled by samsung. It was seriously useful as hell and now i feel my phone is half broken

Try Nice lock from xda:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/themes/nicelock-module-download-links-module-t3923844
It's Good Lock for the places that can't get it from Galaxy store.
Everything you need is on first post, the launcher and modules...
Edit.
It doesn't bring back the hold down recent key for multiwindow though. You now have to have an active app running, tap on recent key, select and hold down the second app you want and slide it to top or bottom of screen to activate split screen.
