Can anyone recommend an arm band for running? My issues are:
I sweat a *lot*. I destroyed a Droid RAZR MAXX on a 20 mile run. (I put my mp3 player and phone in plastic bags (*) and that seems to provide decent protection.
I really would like something that isn't going to chafe my arm on long runs.
I don't really care about using the phone through the band.'s window I have a Moto 360 for that.
If it has room for the phone with a plastic case that's a plus.
Thanks!
(*) I've discovered a perfect use for those bubbles that Amazon uses for packing things. I cut the end off and slip my phone or mp3 player in them to keep them safe on long runs.

This is why I love my Sony smartwatch 3. Built-in GPS and you can transfer on to it. No need to carry my phone with me when I run
You should look into one of those running packs too. I find them more comfortable than an armband.

It seems like there are a lot of good apps out there for exercise and what not. But it seems like that is going to be difficult if I carry it lose in my pocket.

I just saw an armband for the mytouch at a Tmobile, but it was still behind the counter, so I think it's almost here.
I'm also waiting for it. I've been running with the phone in my pocket, but I get scared that it might get jostled to death.
they have armbands at walmart for ipods, I use it for biking. the phone fits perfectly with it and I can still use the touch screen also. its in the fitness section and its about $8.

wait and see what Tmo got
I have just ordered
iGadgitz Neoprene Gym Jogging Armband for Apple iPod Classic 80gb,
120gb & 160gb
Will post my findings, it got good ratings though.
Compared to ipod the Magic is like 10mm higher, 20mm thinner and not much slimmer. I THINK. Erm
EDIT: fits in well enough, feels secure, I like! I feel the need to mention Buddy runner here, awesome app.

They charge a lot for just about every accessory...
The rep at one of the t-mo stores here gave me the white charger and red gel for the price of the kit with the black charger and black gel...but I didn't get the mug included. Oh well, my wife got what she wanted for $10 less than I paid for them individually.
The store did not have the fitness kit. Wonder if they'll start selling the arm band separately. $5 arm band + $5 belt + $30 water bottle...lol.
There is a solution right now. I've used it for months on my Dream, but now that it's gone to that great cellphone store in the sky (phone died while flashing new rom) , I plan on using it for the Magic.
It all involves a case made by a company called Krusell. They make very high quality leather cases for both the magic and the dream . On the back is a mount that allows you to use your phone for running, bicycling, in your car, or just clip it in your pocket securely without the ugly clips that other companies use.
All of this is purchasable through Amazon.
Here is the link for the case for the Dream
http://www.amazon.com/Krusell-75431...12?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1256415764&sr=1-112
and here is the link for the sports pack
http://www.amazon.com/Krusell-Multi..._1_1?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1256416577&sr=1-1
Now I'm willing to bet with a little bit of creative effort (and some superglue) you could pick up a less expensive case , and just scavenge the mount off the back of it. (for example the blackberry pearl case uses the same mount, but its 1/2 the price off of Amazon.)
had pretty good experience with this armband
http://www.staples.com/Griffin-Streamline-Sport-Armband-for-iPod/product_792628?cmArea=SEARCH
It has some flaws: back is not insulated so I had to wear it over my sleeve, a little hard to operate through thick front skin. But in general it's inexpensive, fits pretty well and does it job
I bought this Tunebelt. It is for the iPod Touch but fits the Magic like a glove. There is a hole in the bottom for headphone connector and you can control your touch when running.
I also use Cardio Trainer from the market and it is great.
SAMBO, Do you still like the iGadgetz armband?
Any new good Arm Band?
Or
Is Tune Belt AB5 worth the extra 7 £ compared to iGadgitz Neoprene?

I have one question about the Igadgitz. Is it possible to connect your headphones i the center-bottom, where the usb is placed on an Magic? I cant find at picture that confirms this possibillity
I use this one for some months now and I am totally happy with it:
iarmbands.com/LARGE-ARM-Universal-fit-Arm-Band-uab-010.htm
You can connect your headphones through a hole at the bottom but I prefer a stereo bluetooth handsfree. I bought this one from ebay:
dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8422
Definitely it isn't the best around but it is very handy when running because you can easily pause/skip tracks/adjust volume.
I'm close to pulling the trigger on buying a new note but I'm concerned it is too big to work out with.
I'm no Ironman, but I run a few miles 3 days a week and I really like streaming Pandora through my bluetooth headphones while recording my performance with Sports Tracker Pro + Zephyr Heart Rate Monitor.
I've seen a few threads discussing arm pouches and the aquapac. Does anybody here actually strap the note to their body for road running? Does it work ok?
So far the note looks like a great device for me, I don't care about games and I don't care what other people think. Screen real estate and usability are king for me but I would hate to give up my Android workouts.
I'm going to a running gear shop later this week to see what kind of pouches they have.
http://www.sportstracklive.com/user/DavidSmoot for an example of what I am talking about.

Personally it is too big for me . . I have a feeling the velcro would drop as you run as the phone is almost 200grams. i have the note and im thinking of buying or trading for a smaller phone / mp3 player for exercising
When the time comes (it's too cold outside) and i start jogging again, i won't take this beast with me I'll probably buy a Wildfire S or something small and use that when i'm out sweating and falling down mountains.
But i guess it could work with the Note, but it's really really big for that task. You'll end up with a huge arm! But just try it and see how it goes.
I run with it
I do, and have run with the Note. It not that too bad compared to my Atrix 4G. The first time I ran with it, I actually just held it in my hand the whole time, which is what I always did with my Atrix. It wasn't that uncomfortable and I don't have giant hands.
I tried looking for armbands that could hold the Note but was unable to find anything worth while. So this last time I ran I ended up jerry rigging an old CD player workout fanny pack into a makeshift armband for the Note.
It sounds terrible but the end result doesn't look bad at all and its pretty comfortable all things considered. I ran with it like that last night for a short 25 minute run and it was fine didn't slip much and because the pouch was orginally for a CD player the velcro flap was more than strong enough to hold the phone securely.
The Note is awesome for running thanks to its super fast and accurate GPS and giant battery.
I'll try to post some pictures of my setup when I get home.
I do almost every day. When I run at a slower pace I keep it halfway inserted in a tights pocket at waist line. This way it doesn't get cold.
For faster runs (intervals) I keep it in a pocket inside a running belt (also inside my jacket so it doesn't get cold).
The only problem is that GPS accuracy (even under free sky) is not that good when not using it for car navigation (where track is corrected to keep you on streets). I may run in a straight line but points are scattered left and right so real time speed accuracy is quite bad because now it says I'm running at 12mph 5 secs later it says I run at 5mph. While my speed is constant at about 6.5mph.
Size is not an issue but accuracy is so I will probably get a Garmin watch for running. I'm quite disappointed with that
I run for the train every day. I always have my note on me.

I use a waist belt pouch which holds the G Note quite well.
Besides the clip onto the belt there is another flap which will clip pouch on better.
Only problem is one has to wear a belt during the run, which some do not wear.
(Picture of pouch is enclosed below):
I run and use runkeeper, gps is so fast but honestly it's big
I bought this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150729459042&ssPageName=ADME:L:OU:GB:1123
I "wear" mine in a Arm Pouch whilst running and throughout my workout in the Gym with no problems.
I do have to reposition it during some arm exercises.
I use Endomondo when I go running. Before I got my armband, I put it in a small pouch and then in my pocket just in case any sweat got in it. Now on my arm I don't need a pouch. But yeah, I guess it would be too big if you were wearing spandex with pockets! Other than that, it's great.
Hmm... I plan on biking with it very aggressively (always late commuter) daily.
I'll let you know when it gets here
So, I exercise a lot and when I run I like to have my music and mytracks running. I also cannot wear headphones when I run due to the fact they are not allowed on post(I am in the Army). So, my question is, has anybody purchased an armband for the Droid 4? And if so, what are your experiences with it? When you sweat, does the phone stay dry? Can you hear the speaker when you play music and its on your arm? Is it easy to touch and manipulate the screen? Thanks for any input you all might have.
Chad.

Scosche soundKASE
Hey Ghost, I recently purchased a Scosche soundKASE from Amazon was a little worried at first it may not fit as at the time there was only one user review stating they also owned a Droid 4.
Been running with it for about 3 weeks now and haven't had a single issue, armband stays tight, I can still hear the speaker nice a loud, able to navigate the screen just fine.
The fit was a bit snug at first but now the case has stretched comfortably to where I can slide the phone in and out with ease, but it does not bounce or otherwise feel as though it will fall out on it's own.
The obvious limitations are sometimes the sound can be a little muffled depending on the placement on the arm, volume rocker buttons are mostly inaccessible but if you push on the sides of the case you can usually get it to register.
It does fog up a bit every now and then, but it has never affected my phone in any way.
Very happy with this purchase, works well with the Droid 4.
I cant post links yet so just search Amazon for "Scosche soundKASE - Android" it should be around $18.00 with like 4 reviews.
I was wondering if there is a smart cover for the Nexus 7. It would be like the iPad smart cover. I have seen one, but it did have a backing and seemed it needed the backing the fully function.
Any sightings?

I'm looking for this too...the ipad one basically doesn't have a back on it...

You won't be able to get a smart cover like the iPads as they are magnetised to each other. As far as I know the Nexus does not have a magnetic strip down the left side, although I think you'd be able to stick one on and make your own smart cover

that's what you're looking to get for sure
it's too hard to find a smart cover for Nexus 7, below smart cover will be a good choice which recommended by my colleauge:

I just bought this and its pretty amazing.

I was thinking of using the phone when cycling to track my route and so that I can see my position. I will not be going off-track often and I don't expect to be falling off the bike often . Could you recommend some good case? Thanks
I'm using this one for the past 2 years and it's really great:
http://www.topeak.com/products/bags/smartphone_drybag_5_wt
It hosted my Nexus 4, then my Z1C and now my Z3C . The great thing is that it has a clip on the back that you can attach to the regular clothes too, so I can use it also if I go hiking or rowing.
You will have to use a bluetooth adapter during those times because the phone will be enclosed 100%.
super cheap yet very solid and functional:

I'm a bike commuter and like to have my phone on my handlebars every day either as speedometer, clock or music player. I've used a number of different mounts with varying degrees of success.
Right now, I'm a huge fan of QuadLock (quad lock case dot com) . For the Z3c, you'd need to get a secure 3rd party case case (not sure which would be the most secure, maybe the Ringke Fusion? or Terrapin? I dunno), then get the Bike Kit which includes the bike mount and the universal adapter. I've used this setup with three different phone/case combo's thus far and each has been rock solid.
I can't comment on the earlier poster's ebay mount, but I can offer some advantages of the Quadlock over the Topeak bag. A huge benefit of the Topeak is that it's a dry bag, protecting your phone from the elements. But, that's not a concern with the Z3c since it's water/dust proof. And, the downside of the Topeak is that it can overheat, they warn about this on the Topeak site, and I've experienced it with other enclosed mounts. Also, with the Quadlock, you will still have access to charging (depending on your case) either from a battery pack or a hub gen if you have one - I've done both.
The downside of the Quadlock is that it's $40 USD. But, being the most reliable one I've tried thus far, I don't have a problem with that cost.
HTH,
Jack
Hey Jack, I'd like to get your opinions after using Quadlock after a year. I'm looking for most robust option. Quadlock has dedicated products for iPhones and some other devices but they recommended universal adaptor for Z3C. But I don't trust the adhesive that will be mounted on Z3C case. Have you had any issues with this? I suppose you have used Universal adaptor as well.
I can also buy a more up-to-date and compatible product that supports charging while using the device. I have a Roswheel front bag on frame for Z3C. Basically I'm not happy with using it. But I can use it to house my charger and from there an extension of charging cable to Phone at handlebar could do the trick. What do you think? Of course this is a rare case scenario. I'm not a great fan of cycling. Only joining weekend activities. Usually they take only 70 miles.
I would also appreciate a little update. I also have something similar to the bag mount. Quadlock looks really cool, but I can't justify the price.

If your headset stem is square-section, the easiest way to mount your phone is with a simple loop of elastic. Starting with the loop under the stem, pull up loops along the left and right sides of the stem. Then thread your phone through those loops so it's sitting on top of your stem. Our phones are waterproof, so no need for a case. They also have those tiny wrist-band strap holes at the bottom which you can use to make a secure back-up to stop the phone hitting the floor if the elastic fails.
I cycled across Europe like this last summer - absolutely perfect tool for the job.
