Hey,
So after updating to 22.21.19 retde, I found the smart display feature, that is meant to keep the screen on when you look at the display, is no longer working. It is enabled and the test that is accessible from the options works and can successfully determine whether I look at the screen or not.
Can anyone confirm this behaviour under android L? It would be remotely possible this is an isolated case since I had to completely factory reset my phone for the update, to remove root. I am also rooted on the new build.
So, if you run the same version of Android L, I'd like to hear whether smart display works for you or not. Thanks in advance.
Yes it seems to be broken for now

You're not the only one.
It does work sometimes, others it simply ignore your face and dimm the brightness too fast.
Brightness slider wasn't responding to my touch sometimes, so I checked out the touch screen service test via *#*#7378423#*#*. Sure enough, major no-touch spots particularly with horizontal movement on the space near the top of the screen. This problem only began since the update to 5.1. Thoughts? Besides rolling back...worried it's a hardware issue?
Have a screenshot of the service test but unable to post here. If needed, let me know.
I also have touchscreen issue on my 5.1.1 xperia z3 dual. Now touchscreen don't work.
Definitely it's fw. Mine didn't worked really even i restored my TWRP backup of 5.0.2, but when I flashed 4.4 it worked. Now I have to observe again if this will reoccur in 5.1.1

I am using xperia z3 compact since about 1 year. Now i suddenly got a serious issue that atonce my soft navigation keys(Back+Home+Recent Apps Buttons) has stopped working. First there was some trouble upon touching keys but after next day they stopped working at all and were just like dead. I made a factory restore but no use. Then i flashed a fresh copy of new downloaded firmware but problem still persisted.
But strange thing is that if its hardware problem then why these keys are working in "Gloves Mode".
I was on Android version 6.0.1 build: 23.5.a.0.575 at the time of problem occurred. Then i flashed build: 23.5.a.0.570 but no use. Please help.........
I solved this by going to back to kitkat
Same as same problem with you @libra857 . Really it solve the problem going back to kitkat? Thanks a lot @sparkys I'll try to do that. Thanks Thanks Thanks. BTW what firmware do you use?
the same problem suddenly i was Android version 6.0.1 build: 23.5.a.0.575 at never halted i put my phone on charger next morning found the problem i tried factory reset then downgrade to 23.4.A.1.264 but no thing solved it until i activated glove mode it helped me to use my phone but not solve the problem

Really? Then you upgrade or leave it at KK?
I've had the same issue for 2 months now, the nav bar doesn't work and also a small section of the upper screen doesn't as well. Download a screen test app and see for yourself.
If possible, take the issue to Sony Care and see if you can make them fix it. I've haven't had such luck and taking into consideration the rather expensive (around 150 bucks) and possibly pointless attempt at getting it fixed, I'm stuck with a partially ruined screen. I use LMT Launcher to sort the the issue partially.
Hi guys, I have the same problem on my Z3C. I just flashed it back to KitKat and it didn't work at all, in fact now I'm stuck at the first screen unable to chose between the languages because the soft keys screen part doesn't work. So I wouldn't recommend doing that.
had this problem too since 16 months old. to overcome I had activated assistive touch, auto-rotate and downloaded smarttouch (its free from play store). It was a hw prob and screen needs to be replaced.
another "fix": change the resolution from 720x1280 to 600x1000 (230 DPI). Looks crappy like my old sola, but at least I can use my phone. I use Window Manipulator.
found it here
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperi...home-screen/m-p/1165534/highlight/true#M24637
can someone explain to me why this fix works?
I was playing around with my brother's z3c with same problem. To check if theres a hardware problem, I enabled "show touches" in developer options. I found out that the lower part of the screen (where the navigation buttons are) doesn't work. It missed the buttons by a few pixels. The "fix" SHP5 suggested works because it makes the navigation buttons bigger does getting inside the working part of the screen. The other work around (glove mode) works because it makes the touches bigger to compensate for the gloves does making the touches go inside the navigation bar area even when its detecting the touches a bit above.. This give me the idea of my workaround.
WORKAROUND:
-root
-install xposed
-install Xperia/AOSP NavBar module (z3c is not in the compatible devices but I tested and it works)
-enable module
-change navbar height to what works for you (mine is 120%)
-reboot
NOTE: might overlap other apps if nav bar is too high.
The phone is on 23.5.a.1.291 firmware. Root, Recovery and xposed are available in this firmware.
Please leave thanks if helpful....
It's not hardware! In recovery mode the keys are working without a problem! It just happened like this, I'm desperate...
Xperia X Performance (F8132) Accelerometer failure & Screen Auto-rotate irresponsive
Hi All,
I got an issue bothering me since I bought Xperia X Perfomance (F8132) Mid June.
The auto rotate function failed after a while but everything goes fine after reboot.
When it fails, I use "Xperia Service Menu" -> "Service Tests" -> "Accelerometer",
then all X,Y,Z are zero and the ball just sticks and freezes at mid.
I bought from Taiwan and I can find 15 more people having the same symptom with me on 2 forums
( http://mobile01.com and http://gamer.com.tw ).
Hence I don't think it's only me and it's a common issue or common yield problem for Xperia X Perfomance.
I post here because I'd like to find more people with the same issue and raise the attention of SONY in order to find the root cause (i guess it's either over-heat causes this or accelerometer yield issue) and give a patch.
Now I'm using a APP "Rotation Control" to workaround this, but all photos cannot records correct orientation data and no auto-rotate is kinda inconvenient.
For a flag-ship and high-priced cellphone for SONY this year, it is very disappointing to me. :crying:
Version: 35.0.A.1.227 and 35.0.A.1.238 both occur

I also have that problem. No more auto-rotation after a while (1-2 days) . Only a reboot fixes that

Thank you for letting us know.
It shows it's not a regional FW issue but a global HW or FW one.
I wonder if SONY knowing this. If not, we need to address this and push SONY to work it around.
And if it is not workaroundable, SONY will have a big problem.
I have the same issue on my Xperia X (F5121) bought in Sweden. Haven't checked the accelerometer but the behaviour is the same and reboot is only fix.
I have not had any problems with auto rotation, my accelerometer works fine but my touch screen is messed up

Can you specify "messed up"? I've had issues with the touch screen also, mostly that it registers a tap while I'm scrolling resulting in involuntary tapping on links. Also it often takes a while to start scrolling, as if the screen has a hard time recognising the swipe.
I have the same problem. The accelerometer stop working 15 minutes after reboot.
Help me verify if is caused by a third party app or not.
Use your phone in safe mode for a while.
I'm from Hong Kong, the accelerometer and its auto-rotation of my x performance has the same problem that it won't work until i reboot my phone.
I dont think that is caused by a app crashing when the problems occuring in all around the world.
The issue didnt come to me when I was not yet update to 35.0.A.1.282. Please notice this problem SONY. It seriously affected the satisfaction from user of the phone from your brand.
There is a topic on the Sony support forum - see here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-X-Performance/Accelerometer-stops-working/m-p/1158490#U1158490
At least they are aware of the problem. As soon as it happens again on my phone, I will send them my logs. I will report any development...
It seems that I uninstall the AR effects in my phone and reboot, it works again
Rotation fails
Hello guys,
I have the same problem. Yesterday it worked fine, but today, the auto rotate don't work. Very disappointing. Only a reboot can help but not every time.
Sony has to do something with it.
Gyroscope/Auto-Rotation Issue
Hey everyone,
I'm also having this same issue, but only since the most recent update from late September. When trying to make a pic display as fullscreen by rotating the phone, nothing happens, unless I reboot the phone. Then within day or two, it starts happening again. When I go to camera it loads up and STAYS in landscape mode, no matter what I do, even closing it out and clearing out the cache & force stopping it then reactivating it. It seems like a software issue that Sony needs to address PRONTO!
It appears another thread here on XDA is dealing with the same issue. I tried shenlong85's idea and it seems to have fixed the issue, but I need another day or so to make sure. If you don't hear from me by Sunday (10/23), assume it's been fixed. Hopefully the Nougat update we're all about to get any day now will permanently fix it!
The memory uninstall updates only prolong the issues. Seems like the firmware issue earlier on.
Nougat... When are u coming?

Well, we'll see. I am giving my XP 'til Sunday........if no more auto-rotate issues by then, then I will consider your idea to be gold. lol Of course, once we get Nougat, I'm hoping it will ensure that the issue never comes back period. As of this time, the issue has NOT returned.
I bought my Xperia X Performance from Kogan who sells imports in Australia from Asia and I have the exact same issues with my orientation and touchscreen. However my jumpy touchscreen only seems to occur while charging.

I tried shenlong85's idea, but less than 24 hours after trying it, I switched my phone from Portrait to Landscape to view a 16:9 widescreen pic I had in my Album, and it WOULD not auto-rotate the pic. So unfortunately this "trick" doesn't work either.
Just have to hope Sony includes a fix with the Nougat update we're about to get any day now from them.
I'm noticing now too that once the Auto-Rotate function stops working, so does Smart Call Handling. Have to swipe screen once again to take calls. Hurry up Nougat!! lol
I'm having the same issue and the only help I'm getting from Sony support is to factory reset my device :\ I'm hoping Nougat makes it's way to our devices soon. I really like this phone and this is a pretty big issue to have.

I agree Spencer. And yes Sony Mobile told me the same thing. I'll do a repair (which yes, includes a factory reset) only IF Nougat doesn't fix it. They say we're getting it "in or close to October", so I'm guessing it's gotta be coming any day now. Hopefully they include a fix with Nougat though and I don't have to do that. Getting tired of this BS with Sony. My Z3 had an issue where if I turned on Stamina Mode, it would 1) mess with my MMS (group/pic/video) text messages.........you don't know how many times I had to ask ppl to resend those to me and how much that sucked lol 2) Cause a "random" battery drain. Only fix was a factory reset. I FINALLY got wise and realized it was SM and kept it off. Found a great app called 360 Hibernation Master that did what SM was supposed to do but better, MINUS the buggy BS. But OF COURSE it doesn't work on any X series phone (at least not my XP), so I'm stuck with SM now. At least Sony Mobile FINALLY fixed that bug with SM so that's not an issue anymore. lol
It is a big issue, and it makes me not want to keep buying their phones.
I compiled and installed AOSP (Android Pie) from Sonys Open Devices page and it's running pretty well except for the following:
-) "Secure Startup" Option is broken - It kinda works but when you type in an incorrect PIN code the phone tells me that the code I entered was correct but that my data is corrupt and that I need to reset my phone. After a few restart attempts it then proceeds to work. Anyhow not working well and one little wrong click and the phone does a factory reset.
-) Fingerprint sensor - Works 90% of the time however if you "provoke" the phone by using a non-registered fingerprint a couple of times, turning the phone off and on, etc... Cannot say exactly what causes it - The phone reboots. Now this is not so bad, except that natural phone usage causes this once or twice a day - Random reboots through the fingerprint sensor. If I have no fingerprint registered the phone never reboots and all is good. So something is amiss here.
-) Bluetooth tends to fail somehow - It works and then after some random time people cannot understand me when I'm talking to them on the phone via my bluetooth headset
I've tested this with older pre-compiled version of AOSP Pie and the issues are the same. The issues are also present for the F8131 an F8132 model of this phone.
I'm really trying hard to fall in love with my Xperia X Performance but it's quite a struggle. The stock ROM does not allow RAW capture, hence I cannot install any version of GCAM that works. The Sony camera app produces mediocre pictures. Also the torch is very dim. Two things that really annoy me.
AOSP seems promising except for the issues listed above. Did anyone experience the same issues and possibly find a fix? If yes, please share. That would be awesome.
Thanks!
