I've been reading about the encryption and if it slows down the N6 I definitely want to disable it, how do I go about doing this for 6.0? Can I just go I to security and changing the settings? Do I have to flash a custom boot img? If so, where is it? Like I've said, I've been searching, and I've seen vids of the 5X getting school my the OG N5, and I don't want that happening to my N6. Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

it DOES NOT slow down the nexus 6. at first, many thought uit did(nearly a year ago), but now most people know better, while some are still clueless.

I'm not completely convinced of that. While I only used it encrypted for a short time I did notice an improvement when I unencrypted the device. Could it have been blacebo? Maybe, but with the commit changes to aosp that were targeting encryption speeds It could also have a very minor impact.

When you say "now" do you mean that it has been fixed with Android 6.0 but it was there with 5.0/5.1?
Because I saw a lot of speed benchmarks on N6 (with LP) and they show encryption slows r/w a lot!
As I mentioned in another post, I ran Lollipop unencrypted for months, and when I upgraded to Marshmallow I found that I'd managed to encrypt my N6. I was pretty annoyed, since I expected to see slower performance and shorter battery life. Neither is true. It's every bit as fast and long-lasting as Lollipop was. No doubt the application performance monitors can see a fractional difference in the graphs, but in real life I see nothing at all.
I suggest that you strike this requirement off your to-do list - unless you have a simple and safe way to do it, in which case please post it here so I can do it too (yeah, it still niggles me a bit, just not enough... )

Since you are on 6.0 encrypted could you run a r/w benchmark and post results?

Benchmarks will not really tell you anything of note. The best way is just to judge for yourself. I recently picked up the n6 and heard the same. So I ran it encrypted for a few days (both stock and custom roms) Then unencrypted and ran the same setups and made up my own mind. You will have those that swear it makes a diff and those swearing just as loud that it really doesn't. So the best bet would be to run some real world usage. As it is a new device and will be pretty clean unencrypting it will not really be a big deal as long as you don't load it down to much. But even if you do it shouldn't take you more then an hour to unencrypt it and be on your way.

Hi, I really love this tablet lineup alot. I have the tf300t and it has alot of Developer Support. I love this brand specifically because it allows me to type up school related documents when I need to and has an awesome battery life. I wanted to get the TF701, but it seems completely empty on the developer support. Why is this? Is it a crappy tablet? Does no one care about this tablet anymore?
If this isn't a suggested tablet, what is a suggested one that has a keyboard with it?

This tablet is good. It may not be the best but people complain about everything even though ALIENS MADE IT!
Just look at all the complaints below this thread. They killed it. End of story.
No I dont know really. I think the developement is has been quite good so far. It might not be busy here but that could change.

Hey man, I seriously am so appreciative for all you work man. I used CROMI-X all the time on my tf300t. Your Rom and the AOSP roms motivated me to stay with the tf300t. You have done an awesome job and I appreciate all your time with your ROMS.
I guess I have gotten spoiled with having the opportunity of tasting all the different Roms Available for devices like the the Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S4 and the TF300t.
I was just curious if the lack of developers on this tablet made me think there was a serious issue with the tablet.
Now doing some research, even the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet doesn't have much developer support either even after being so popular.

And that's exactly it: The TF701 and the Z2 may just be so good on stock that there is very little demand for development. Any market is ruled by demand and supply - even free one's [emoji189]

I agree, that TF701 performs pretty darn well with the stock rom. While the TF700 begged for custom roms (to solve issues like the need to turn off FSYNC), it took me a lot longer to unlock the device and install the customized sbdags version. His version is awesome, but I agree that the need is not as apparent as it was on previous devices, presumably because the hardware is better.
That being said, it also seems like the user base for the TF701 is not quite there either....
Maybe cause the 701T just came out recently?

I wonder if it might be also because the tegra 3 has been around since the tf300? along with the nexus 7. So they had something to work from. I dont know if that has anything to do with it though.
Stock when rooted is just so good, for me at least. I would hate to lose the productivity apps built into the stock Rom if I change it.

Sbdags is a God, there is no question about it. His efforts and those of the other developers are the reasons Android is so great.
I wonder if the custom rooms have this feature present in the stock Rom where I could just bring up floating apps by just clicking the button on the left.
P.S. Don't know why the attached screenshot is blurry. It is clear when viewed through the gallery.

I think the nf6 is an older build
The build number ended "NF8" on June 18th ( 4.4.2_0016). It's now "NFB" June 30th (4.4.2_18) The kernel also changed.
Well now that I'm rooted gonna wait on some roms before flashing an OTA that might lose root.

Perhaps it is via OTA. Via Kies it was 2GB.
What Is kies and where do I find it?
The OTA said it was for "platform and stability" improvements. Maybe they tweaked the TouchWiz, that some owners say, was causing some stutter/lag.
My 8.4 Just updated and its Build Number is ending in ANF9. Seems as though the performance has picked up a lot, no longer any lag when swiping left to the quick briefing page and calender page. It actually feels really nice right now. Good Job Sammy!
Also looks like RAM has been optimized quite a bit. with all default apps running im sitting at 1.3G free space. I never checked really until now, but hey whens the last time you used a samsung device and had more than 5-600MB of RAM free by default anyways lol!
No update on mine yet (BTU). Still on NF7. Least I have something to look forward too. Am hoping they tweak the battery to last longer with normal useage.

Can anyone, who download the 2GB file from KIES , screenshot their system info? I want to see if it differs from mine. Thank you..
I got the update today, I can confirm that touchwiz performance does seem improved. It also seemed to greatly improved my wifi, I am now able to stream full blue ray HD wireless with little to no hiccups.
Beyond that general system performance seems about the same and benchmarks have not changed.
Definitely a good update, not sure if I hosed myself in terms of root though.
Well considering the fact we have no idea when anyone will ever cook off a rom for us I went ahead and ran the update. Can't really notice any difference but then again I wasn't running TouchWiz anyway. Of course now I no longer have root.
Wondering if we need a brand new root with this update?

Yeah I hadn't rooted yet, but will want to eventually.
Definitely seems to be mostly around touchwiz, curious if others see the wifi streaming improvement. Before the update I needed bump plex down to 12mbit and bsplayer wouldn't stream anything smooth, now I have plex running at 20mbit and bsplayer can play compatible videos directly even full blue ray h.264 videos.
I can also confirm that memory usage in default state is considerably lower, though not sure that's of much import given how android allocates memory.
Was hoping the floating multi window for the pro would show up, but no luck
There may be something to the improved WiFi speeds and streaming. I notice that YouTube videos load pretty much instantaneously and stream without hiccup. Dunno, maybe placebo effect but does seem quite good.
Update: Confirmed improved streaming. Cranked up Star Trek Into Darkness on Netflix. It started much faster than previously and full HD quality resolved in about half the time. Pleased.

Just reflash the original cf auto root.
Update to the latest version via Kies. Lost root but the previous root method still work for the 10.5.
Touchwiz is so much better I've abandoned go launcher and gone back to touchwiz, my scrolling widgets are much faster in touchwiz than go launcher now.
Glad to hear root still works. I'll be rooting as soon as I'm past my 45 day return period
Has anyone heard about this? It's supposed to be a secret ROM that google mad genius created with L stuff added and spread. I heard it's also invite only like OPO but you have to have at least 3000 thanks as many post. Can someone confirm? It also scores 48500 in Antutu on art at 2.3GHz. Please, if anyone can confirm?

I have heard of this, and know some people who say they have used it. i can't get them to give me any info about it because they have a verbal non-disclosure agreement with the developer. All I can say for sure is, the name says it all.
I think it might have something to do with this web site:

Good luck!
I've heard of it, and seen a few screenshots.
Sounds like an awesome rom
I can't say too much but this rom is amazing. Its built with Linaro and Sabermod. From what i know the developer goes by the name Mcdickbuttcore and he is very innovative. Its very secretive how he builds and distributes it. He takes the build and puts it on a flash drive. From there he puts it into a garbage can on a undisclosed street and one of his "testers" picks it up and distributes it to a small group of people. Its rumored he has the source code for lollipop already and is building with it. Hopefully i dont get killed for telling you this.

Leave Velolipopperz alone!!!, I build it for me and my sons. I have access to Lollipop source code because my brother lives in the ventilation system at Google headquarters and uses their fax machine to send photocopies of everything. It's MY code, all MINE. My brother says so and he's older than me and has a unibrow so don't mess with me.

Then the guy who picks up the garbage is actually a secret developer himself who is double crossing the lead developer. He makes modifications to rom zip and then manually adds certain scripts which decreases the performance .

Overall UI sounds have weakened as well.. Tried Viper4Android... It just isn't what it used to be on kitkat.
No issues with mic or in call volume though.. Or may be I haven't noticed it.
Are you using that ElementalX app? There's a volume gain mod baked in it as well but it's a hit or miss Kinda thing. At least on Lollipop.. So, I didn't bother reporting it.

Awesome. Let me in bitxx I got your 3000k right here..ΒΆ
Figure it would be nice to have a thread of changes we have found in 5.1.1
For me the UI feels a LITTLE more responsive, nothing major. That's all I have seen.
What about others?
For me so far it has been better standby time. Battery.
I notice somewhat better performance in general, phone just feels a little snappier. Battery life obviously can't be judged yet, might factory reset later if it gets worse (stupid Google Play Music device limit).
This is super minor, but I notice that the time it takes for the phone to verify the encryption passphrase is about half of what it was. And most people will likely not care about this either, but the T-Mobile jingle aligns with the T-Mobile white screen during boot up now.
Agree it's very very early, but I had pretty bad battery drain for the first few hours after I updated. Cleared cache via the stock recovery and it seems to be much better.

I noticed that too. I had to reboot twice into recovery (had to go back into Android because I needed to decrypt my phone to clear cache). Both times it said "Installing system update". No ertror mesage, though.
Updated this morning. Played around with my phone for a bit and then did a factory reset for the heck of it. So far it's pretty decent. I like the new camera feature and the removable S Finder and Quick Connect boxes too. I've been running it with everything turned on for almost a month and was getting great battery life. So far the battery is doing pretty good as I'm using it quite heavily.

One of the kernel modifiers that works by altering setting in RAM. You can get improvements for sure but be careful.
I used to run a kernel modding app in KitKat ROM but now on Lollipop the phone runs nice without it so I don't use a kernel tuning app anymore.
I have Xposed but even then, only a minimal number of modules. You can create an unstable device by these types of mods.
Can you tell us which settings exactly you have in L Speed? A screenshot would be enough because when I tried it I didn't see any improvement

I'm probably as big of a skeptic as you get when it comes to these miracle "speed up your phone now!" kind of apps, but hear me out:
I installed this after it popped up whilst lazily scrolling through the Play Store. I remembered reading a post title about it somewhere and figured I might as well laugh at the massive scam when it starts asking for IAPs or something.
But wow, it really helps. I mean it has only been running for about 30 minutes, so I can't say much for the battery life improvements etc, but here's what has noticeably improved thus far:
- "Smoothness": Enabling the UI tweaks rewarded me with buttery smooth scrolling, window switching, even SwiftKey (which, whilst being a great keyboard for a multi-lingual, has always fallen behind others in terms of smoothness) is now on IOS levels of responsive, for now. I'm running 5.1.1 (B324), which is already a massive improvement over the choppy mess that was 4.4.4, but this made animation smoothness on-par with the latest flagships.
- App loading times: Vastly improved. The HAM7 isn't bad at this, but not exactly great either. I'm assuming it's the IO tweaks that 'fixes' this, as app loading times are way quicker. Even the app switching window, which is notoriously slow to load up on the HAM7, opens up very hastily (not instantly, but MUCH faster than usual), even when you have 3-5 pages of apps open. Hell, even the camera doesn't waste time opening.
And perhaps the most impressive improvement: Faster streaming. I know, this sounds like snake-oil, right? Wrong. I live in East Africa, our internet here is horrifically slow compared to European countries (my company has a 7mb/s line, which is one of the fastest lines available in our area). Streaming a video in 1080p is something one can only dream of. I took a quick look at YouTube, ramping the quality up to 1080p, and it plays! I mean I still have to leave it for around ten seconds to buffer a little, but after that I'm golden. I'm baffled, I honestly don't want to believe it, but yet it's happening right before my eyes. I will test this on other streaming services (Netflix and ShowBox) later and update this post with my findings.
So there you go. A totally skeptical non-believer converted in 30 minutes. I can't tell you how this works, all I can say is that it does, at least in my case. The HAM7 running 5.1.1 really isn't bad in terms of every day performance, but this makes it a lot more bearable (I hate EMUI).
I'll update this post with further findings tomorrow.

Impossible. This application uses modifications that are impossible to make or you're unrooted.
I think what he is saying he hasn't used L Speed and gets a better score?

Lots of factors affect it. Rooting and modding can slow it down, for instance I can assure you installing ViPER4Android will slow it down, but sounds oh so good.
Don't use viper. But yes depending on the amount of apps etc does affect it. Using always on display now and love it and not really much of a battery hog, I love coming back to my phone and don't even touch it just glance to see if I have missed anything.
