I have a T3 on 5.1.1 - stock everything, not rooted (yet).
Screen timeout is set to 1 minute.
If I press the power key or home key to turn the phone on, and just leave it sitting there the screen will not shut off. It has been on for 7 minutes so far. Not sure how long it will stay on.
I've had crappy battery life and now I think I know why. Power button or home is getting turned on in my pocket and it won't turn off.
AFAIK, no other timeout settings have been changed other than the Settings -> Display -> Screen Timeout set to 1 minute.
Is there another setting somewhere that is specific to the lock screen's timeout? I can't find one anywhere.
Edit: Has been on for over 20 minutes.
Looks like the lock screen will turn off if I set screen timeout to 15 seconds or 30 seconds. If set to 1 minute or 2 minutes (haven't checked longer than that) the lock screen will not turn off.
Bummer... Oh well 30 seconds it is.
Can someone try and recreate this?
Set your screen timeout to 1 minute. Lock your phone then turn it back on. Does your screen turn off after 1 minute?
If not, set it to 30 seconds and see if that works.
I don't have a t3 or lollipop installed so not really a comparison.
My 910t on FireKat (4.4.4) has always been set on 1 minute and times out just as it should.

I have the T3 Stock 5.1.1. Screen timeout is set to 1min. Lockscreen turns off in 4-5 sec. That's normal based on all the phones I've had. I would factory reset or think replacement
I'm about to root so I'll do the factory reset then. Don't want to flash any ROMs yet as I like all the features of the Note from TW and not ready to lose them. I can live with a 30sec timeout if needed. At least I know it's not a known bug and it may just be the way it's behaving now and might be fixable.
Thanks for trying it out!

Hi Guys,
Although I set my backlight to stay on for 2 minutes, it randomly defaults back to the 10 second timeframe.
Why does it do this and can it be prevented?
I have the same problem. I did a hard reset, and it was fine, until I hit lock, now it's happening all over again. I adjusted it in kaisertweaks, but it just ignores it. Screen always dims after 10 seconds.
Check backlight and power setting for both battery and mains.
If you are also using S2U2, check the backlight settings there also. Whatever it says on S2U2, it will override the other settings.
Hope this helps.

MAC
The screen keeps blinking back to full brightness, every 30 seconds or so, when it is left alone and the screen dims normally. It is as if something is pressing a button or touching the screen.
When I press the power button and send it to suspend mode, the backlight goes off, and the tilt no longer responds to touch or button pressing. For some reason it pops itself out of suspend and turns back on every couple minutes. My battery life is going down extremely fast. 100% to 40% in three hours.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I searched the forum but never found a specific topic for this issue.

I have the same problem w
th the backlight comming on by itself & battery life depletes extremely fast. I am using HD 15 Nov with 3.29.
In addition to backlight issue my hardware keys are no longer working.
Please has anyone got any advice
i have the same problem. the only thing that seems to work is doing the keypad lock and putting it to sleep. it will occasionally blink like its trying to come back on but doesnt. another thing i did is put my phone in flight mode, locking the keypad and putting it to sleep. when i do that it doesnt blink or anything. sadly i wont receive phone calls or emails and texts. i think the blinking has something to do with phone signal and accessing the networks.
hth
also i noticed that it wakes from sleep when the keypad "unlock" screen pops up.
i think i found a fix
Ok I hope this helps for you because it seems to work for me. I first went to start/settings/sounds & notifications. Then I clicked on the notification tab and unchecked everything leaving only the ringer on for when calls come in. when I did that, for about 5 minutes (longest I tested it at) the phone did not turn on and the backlight didn’t do that weird grayish flash thing. Afterwords I at first was going to go down the list of all notifications and turn things on/off to see what wakes up my phone but i got too lazy and only checked one setting. One thing I noticed is that when I have the beam: autorecieved notification turned on for display a message on the screen I get that weird backlight flickering thing. So for now I just have sound alerts on when I receive any type of messages and a sound alert for reminders. So far so good, my phone hasn’t woken from sleep in 20 minutes.
Hi, please forgive me for asking such a dumb question. I imagine my problem is not that uncommon. By default, the phone turns off back light if I don't touch any key for 30 seconds (feels like shorter than that). Anyway, I dial in to check my voicemail. Due to the length of the message, the back light turns off. It looks like there is no key other than the power button can bring the screen back. Sometimes, I have to press the power button a couple of times before the screen comes back, then when I try to delete the message (by pressing 7) sometimes I don't even see the keypad any more. It's just a bit of hassle. Can you tell me how you would do it?
thanks very much!
I'm not sure if there's an option for the phone not to switch the backlight off and/or go to sleep while in a phone call.
If you want to control the duration before the phone switches off the backlight or goes to sleep, you will have to change the backlight or power settings ujnder Settings -> System.
didn't know when and how it was set at 10 sec backlight

Thanks! I went into Settings -> System -> backlight and realized that it was set to was set at 10 sec on battery. I don't know when it got changed. Reset it back to 30 sec. should be better now. Changed the power to turn off after 3 min, too.
Hi everyone,
I am currently running the rom found at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1464758
and am having a problem adjusting the time before the screen shuts off due to inactivity. At the moment whenever I change it from 15 seconds, the change appears to have taken affect (it shows the change in settings), then I leave the settings and it resets back to 15 seconds with no notification. It appears even if I leave my pad on the settings it does not change anything and still shuts the screen off after 15 seconds.
So now my question is threefold.
1.) Am I able to fix this problem in any way or is it a byproduct of the HP Touchpad itself?
2.) I have screeble, but it does not appear to be receiving information from the pad's accelorometers. Is there any way to fix this?
3.) I have tasker, though I have not messed around with it much. Is there any way to use tasker to force the setting in if the settings are unresponsive?
EDIT: Reflashing the ROM didn't work. Tasker didn't work.
EDIT 2: It looks like it was screeble that was deciding to keep on reseting my screen off time even when it was disabled. I deinstalled it and things seem to be working fine.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I read quite a bit on my phone and usually keep it set at 1-2 mins but it always resets back to 15 seconds ;s

The postman delivered this house brick from Korea this morning. My daughter bless her little cotton socks has bought me this Note to replace my HTC(theres nothing wrong with my HTC). I have tried since 10am this morning to adjust the screen time and as with you it just will not have it, my HTC and my laptop are set up so that when plugged into the mains they stay on but this big bugger won't and an additional problem is that even though it is charging the battery is falling like beer down a miners throat.

Okay so I came across this issue today and I've figured out how to solve this. You must have enabled power saving mode at certain %. If you did go to custom power saving settings ---> screen timeout and change it to how long you want it on. You must also change the same time under display ----> screen timeout to what ever you chose under power saving mode. To test it restart the phone and go back under display and should see your last picked timeout minutes. :good:

You are lucky! My Galaxy S4 keeps resetting to 2 seconds! That doesn't even give you time to keep going to settings and changing it to 30 seconds or minute... Any fix for this annoying problem?
I noticed this was happening even with my power saving turned off. As deziking had posted, for me the fix seemed to be changing the settings in the "Power Saving" menu options. Mine was set to "immediately". Changing my Power Saving to kick in at 5% battery power seems to have remedied the problem.
Hope this helps.
Go to settings, device care, press the 3 circles at top right of screen, tap auto device optimisation and turn it off.
