Hello everyone. I have an AT&T Tilt, and it's great so far, except for two issues:
1) After I end a phone call, the backlight seems to go off and the screen is very dim. Pressing keys does not bring the backlight back. If I power the screen off and on, the backlight comes back on and the screen is at its normal brightness.
2) I lock my AT&T Tilt using the "Device unlocked" area on my home screen, and when I unlock the phone, sometimes it asks for my PIN, and sometimes it just shows the unlock button on the screen. My settings are for a 12 hour timeout.
If anyone can shed any light on possible fixes to these issues, that would be great. Thanks!

I have the same issue after a phone call....
Same issue here too... it doesn't happen when on USB-power... and I don't remember it doing this before the security-Exchange policy was forced onto my phone.

I think this happens coz the phone goes into standby / lock mode during your phone call. Just press the on/off button to turn screen off, and press again to turn on. Now your phone will be responsive again.
Minor bug.
Or you can just scroll the volume wheel to turn it back on.

thanks everyone for your replies. I will try the StayUnlock application.
I still don't understand my second issue though. If the bug is causing this issue, shouldn't it at least be consistent in either requiring me to type in my PIN or just hit the unlock button? I have set my phone to lock after 12 hours, so it should never ask for my PIN, just the unlock button...
I now see that people have been having the first issue since the Cingular 8125 but I have been unable to find any references to my second issue.
ATT Til and Backlight
When making a phone call, once connected, about 12 seconds later the screen goes dark regardless of the setting on the backlight. I am not using a password, and the only way to get back is to use the power button. using the phone button puts the call on hold
Hi, I received an unlock code and I followed the directions.
I put in my T-Mobile sim card and started my Atrix HD. When it finished loading, it went to this grey background screen that asked for the unlock code with either option of "Enter"ing or "Dismiss"ing. I inputted my code, and pressed Enter to unlock it. After that, the two options disappeared as well as the bar for entering the code, but stayed on that same grey background screen with nothing but that and the time, signal strength, battery life, etc. on the top of every android. About 5 seconds later, my phone picked up T-mobile and was finally unlocked (I was getting texts, etc), but it was still on the grey background screen. I've been waiting for over 2 hours now, and it is still stuck on the grey screen. I have tried pressing the home button, the back button, and the tabs button, but none of them does anything and stays on the grey screen. I am able to turn the screen off and on and adjust the sound with the physical buttons, and everything works at the locked screen. When I try unlocking the screen, opening the camera, opening the phone or text, it all goes back to the grey screen. Also when I try turning off the phone with the physical button, no option of powering off appears on screen, it just stays on the grey screen.
Help! How do I get rid of this grey screen. I have not tried restarting because I do not know how to restart the phone without being given the option by pressing the power button. I've held the power button, but that did nothing.

Nevermind! I found the answer to own question. Since the lock screen still works, I just went to the lock screen and without unlocking the screen, I pressed the power button and the power off options appeared on the lock screen. So I was able to restart my phone that way. The grey screen is gone after I restarted. Hope this helps.

Just press the power button once (without holding it) like you're locking the phone. The screen will turn black, now press it again, you'll see the lockscreen now press and hold the power button till you see the power off option coming up.

Whenever I disconnect/reject a call on my Nexus 6 the phone screen doesn't respond!
I can lock the phone and use the screen swipe up to unlock it, but after unlocking it screen doesn't respond.
If I hold the power button and touch on power off or power on, it works, the phone powers off/restarts!
When unlocked, the nav buttons work. But the part above the nav bar buttons doesn't work. It however, works for the above mentioned cases
It's very irritating yet funny how it isn't responding.
Is the system frozen?
No, lock and unlock works, on screen nav buttons work, restart and power off menu works!
Is the touch screen not responding?
Nope! Consider the same answer as above
Can anyone help me with this issue please?
PS: Only started facing the issue after updating to Android 7.1.1 (Yes, I did manual OTA install)

Reinstalled the same image and rooted the phone! Issue resolved
Hi guys
Just a quick one. Got a strange issue with the screen on my note 8 and just seeing if anyone has had the same issue or any idea on a fix.
Last week updated to the 9.0 beta and all seemed to be going well with no notable issues just a bit of lag here and there. However last night I turned my phone off and when I came to turn it back on this morning it started to boot as normal I entered my password successfully and it started to boot. As soon as the password registered and the unlocking pad lock appears it quickly shifts to the bottom right hand corner instead of the centre as normal. The phone continues to boot and from then on the screen just goes black and is unresponsive. The handset is on cause people can still ring, notifications still get received and all the hardware buttons make noise as if they are working. The screen will just not turn on. If I try doing a soft reboot with the power and volume down I can start the phone and the Samsung logo comes up as normal and the pin screen as normal but as soon as I enter my pin the same issue happens. If I hold the power button on its own to turn off the phone the multi menu (reboot, power off, emergency) all briefly appear but are enlarged and sitting on the right of the screen.
Any ideas guys, cheers.
Try reinstalling Oreo back onto it. It could be an issue with the Beta Version of Pie that you installed on your device.
The beta software is intended for this very purpose, you found a problem, then you report it to the releaser to be fixed, the creators of the software are the ones that will evaluate and improve the software, you see, it did not work for you, just try to reinstall it, if the issue persists, provide feedback to samsung, and flash a stable firmware
Possibly this bug Pie Beta + Secure Startup + WQHD = Black Screen?
It happened to me too. I installed over my existing UAE firmware with Indian one then the one ui update. After reboot got the same blank screen issue. I then did a factory reset and everything is back to normal for the last couple of days with improved battery life probably due to the reason that many region specific Samsung app like Samsung pay doesn't work.
So had a bit more of a play when I got chance and I managed to resolve the issue. Still being hit with the same problems for some reason I tried unlocking the phone again but sideways (don't ask not sure why) and the screen unlocked. From then on phone worked completely normal until next reboot. Same thing every time until I hold phone on its side and unlock with the fingerprint reader.
I've since reverted back to 8.0 and sent feedback over. I'm gonna try testing again weekend see if I have same luck.
Cheers for the replies guys, hope anyone else has this issue the comes across this.
you must disable secure start up
I had the same issue after updating to beta 1 with secure boot enabled. I wiped the phone and it started as it should, since I couldn't unlock the phone even with fingerprint. I noticed that the screen was only showing for few seconds the 1/4 of the image (unlock sim with PIN).
This issue has been driving me mad for the past couple weeks. I'm at my wits' end and I need some expert help to figure this out. Please read this post thoroughly to understand my situation, as this is not a simple matter of uninstalling some apps.
When I first got my Note 9, the screen lock button worked perfectly. The screen would immediately turn on when I pressed the button, and it would immediately turn off when I pressed it again. However, once I got the Android Pie update, the screen lock button stopped working properly. The screen still turns on immediately, but there's about a 0.5 second delay after I press the button to turn it off. It's a relatively small issue, but it's enough to bother me.
I attempted to fix this by performing a system reset. But this did not help. In fact, this issue is still present even before completing initial setup of the phone.
When you perform a system reset, the first screen you see when your phone restarts is the welcome screen. It contains a "start" button that you press to begin setup. On this screen, the lock button issue does not happen. My phone locks and unlocks correctly. On the next screen, you connect to a wifi network. After connecting to a wifi network, the lock button issue becomes present. In other words, this issue with the lock button is present before I even start using the OS, or install any apps, or really do anything at all. It seems to be triggered by connecting to a wifi network during setup.
So I figured there must be something wrong with the firmware. So I used Odin to flash an earlier firmware version. This did not solve the issue. I even tried installing an unlocked firmware version, on the offchance that my carrier (AT&T) was doing something weird. This did not help either.
I have no idea where to go from here. I thought that a system reset is supposed to completely wipe everything from your phone, so that it behaves exactly how it did when I first got it. But that's not the case. It seems like something is carrying over that's causing this issue. Does anybody have any idea what I should do?
Do you have lock instantly with power key on?

It is probably the double tap power button to open camera feature. You can toggle it off and locking will be instant.
If its already off, there my be an accessibility service listening key presses.

This delay issue is so silly but it annoys the hell out of me. Where did you turn off this feature in Pie?
Update: Found it. Just use the search box in settings and type in "camera" (or whatever it is in your language). The "double tap power" setting will get listed.
Thanks alot,
Watz
I even turned off the double press for camera app but I'm still noticing a 0.5 sec lag when i press the side key
I even restarted after changing the setting
Nothing is happening
Please help
