do you reboot after you uninstall? it wont uninstall until you reboot.
Yeah I did a reboot. It's weird the first one installed just fine but I was trying to install a different one and the first one won't uninstall even when it says it did and new ones won't install either. Did a reboot and everything.
I fixed it....installed an older version of layers manger.

Probably you have a kernel with sepolicy set to enforced. Layer mgr does not work, the app needs update.
Yeah that's possible. Well luckily I found an older version and installed it and it works perfectly now. Thanks for all the help tho guys!

You can install layers manually. With a root explorer.
Extracted layers are in sdcard/Overlays. Chosen layers are in system/vendor/overlay. And after reboot copied to vendor/overlay.
It is useful to make a back up of the directory system/vendor/overlay. After updating/changing rom the installed layers may be wiped.
Hi.
Does Layers Manager require BusyBox to be installed in /system? I'm asking because I've gotten Android Pay to work on Cataclysm and SuperSu 2.61. As part of the procedure, I installed BusyBox in /su/bin. However, now Layers Manager doesn't install layers. The app behaves as though the installation is successful, but upon rebooting, I don't see any apps layered.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey guys,
Downloaded the transparent geniewidget and overwrite/backup the original one in the /system/app folder - using super manager app (rooted with visionary). Did an install and everything works fine..(background is transparent).
However upon phone reboot, background is not transparent anymore..(Had to repeat the process above to get background transparency)..It seems that the original file is automatically reinstalled upon reboot (Can't even find my backup file anymore). What did i do wrong here?
Did you enable root access in super manager?
That's all I can think of.
It's one of the first options in the settings.
I would also suggest that you disable super manager's task killer and power management functions.
You might also try tapping on geniewidget apk once it's in system/app and installing it, even though it should work without installing it that way I think that might sometimes help.

I don't have super manager installed right now, that is one way to disable it's management functions btw (uninstall it)
I used super manager before there was a lite version, so maybe things are a little different now, there were a couple of settings I would turn off related to task killing and there was an app2sd reminder function.
I am really fumbling around in the dark myself so take anything I say with a grain of salt.
You should try putting the geniewidget I made (or the other one in the thread) in /data/app as well as system/app.
Try installing it from there too.
Although I just re-checked, and putting the apk in system/app alone did the job for me.
I've never had the probem exactly the way you describe it but I have run into the problem where I haven't found the correct file to rename and then the new file does nothing. I haven't seen the problem manifest on reboot, it just doesn't work.
Make sure you have found geniewidget or com.geniewidget (I forget the exact name), rename it to xxxapk.bak.
Is it still there after your reboot as xxxapk.bak?

Nope its gone.
I'm trying to install a certain .apk file. and it keeps showing me "application not installed".
I've tried it on stock, and it installs.
After checking logcat this is what it says:
D/PackageManager( 1399): Scanning package com.abcdef.android.abcdef.abcdef.apk
W/PackageManager( 1399): Cannot install platform packages to user storage
W/PackageManager( 1399): Package couldn't be installed in /data/app/com.abcdef.android.abcdef.abcdef.apk
How can i fix this.
Thanks.
Which is your default install location? It might be causing problems

still, the same problem...
How do i fix it?!
One more thing!
I realised that all other apk install properly, only apps that are supposed to be installed to internal storage (data\app) dont install properly.
Internal apps installing using android commander, check the install as system app box. The traditional root explorer thing can also be done.

But those apps don't need to be copied to system \app.
They are normal apps like UOT Themes and stuff.
Did you try adb to install? Check if that works.
The problem is that these are normal apk's.
because of this issue, i have to start from scratch.

When you say normal apk, does that refer to stock apk?
Like Themes, and games and all types of apk that are supposed to be installed on internal, (data\app) can't get installed.
Are you using multiple sd-ext scripts?
nope. not partitioned.
Actually it works on other roms, just issue wid mine.
That's why i decided to start from scratch.
OK. Then use spare parts apk and check the compatibility mode box.It might help.

Nope. Didn't work.
I'm just gonna switch the base over to unnoficial.
Okay. Good Luck with the ROM. Hoping to see more features in V2 :good:
Thanks..
Problem is official cm apps don't work on unofficial. So i have to compile all modded apps again.
Just upgraded my phone to 6.0.1 and I went to uninstall a couple of system apps I never use (Google + and Google Fit). Normally, I just uninstall them with Titanium Backup and then reboot the phone and they're gone for good, at least until I flash the next stock rom update.
This time however, while Titanium Backup says the apps are uninstalled, after I reboot the phone they're still there, and in fact are once again showing as active in Titanium Backup. I've tried doing this a number of times, all with the same result.
I don't know if this is something model specific, specific to 6.0.1, or if it's just something with my phone. Never had this trouble before, which leads me to think that Google changed something in 6.0.1, and I will need to wait for Titanium Backup to update their app.
Anyone else experiencing these issues, or have any advice on how I can get rid of these unwanted apps?
just use any root file explorer, go to /system/app/ or /system/priv-app/, delete whichever app you dont need, reboot, and problem solved?

Tried that (using both ES File Explorer and X-plore). In both cases I get a message saying the file/folder can't be deleted.
The only other thing I can think of is that I'm now using a systemless root. Not sure if that would make a difference or not, but I believe that's different from when I was on 6.0.

do you have busybox installed? do you want to try a custom kernel? oh, big question, are you sure that you have root???
Titanium Backup wouldn't work for me either with systemless root on 6.0.1. But I was able to delete some system apps using Root Explorer so I could install xposed.

Have Busybox installed (was part of the image I flashed), but I'd rather not get into flashing a custom kernel or using a custom ROM. Really just prefer the stock ROM, and to be truthful the only real reason I root my devices is so t hat I can have an ad-blocker, and to remove unwanted apps that can't normally be uninstalled.

Looked into that, and if I was looking at the right app, it's a $3.99 cost to get it. I don't mind paying for apps, but not sure I want to go this route just yet if I'm only going to use it for this one instance. Will definitely keep it in mind though if no other options become available.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one having trouble though - makes it more likely the developers will work on getting a fix for the issue.
When in doubt on this kinda stuff try setting kernel to permissive with the SELinux changer app. Also you can try deleting them from recovery if you've got TWRP.

Heh, what you're proposing goes a bit over my head, so I"ll have to do a bit of investigating if it comes down to it. It's not crucial that I get rid of these two apps, just something I've been doing since I never have any intention of using them. If the problem never gets sorted out by the developers however, and the aggravation gets to be too much, I'll take a serious look at the two options you've proposed.

Huh no kidding? I've never had to use it since I started using the v4a permissive mediaserver zip. Yea I guess if that's the case you'll have to do it in recovery or wait for apps to be updated
None of these options worked for me. What did work, was using SDMaid to uninstall the apps. I got rid of Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. It made enough space to install busybox, xposed, and adaway's hostfile.
On a stock rom you can't remount system as rw, so you can't delete stuff. So uninstall will miss its last step, deleting the apk, so reboot installs it again.
But you can boot into TWRP, mount system and have your way with it.

Hi,
I have a banking app wich loink I provide hereby: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rsi.ruralviawallet2
In the latest versions it just crashes, and after force closing and few opening and closing the app tells me that the system is modified and cannot run.
I have MAGISK 16 with magisk hide and the app checked to hide root, USB debugging deactivated as well...
Tried to use the uninstall magisk and un-SU scripts and cache clean but still crashing, So it may not have anything to do with Magisk, but since I had it installed it may have left something over there that the app is detecting as a mofied system...
Any Ideas ?
Thanks so much for your help
Make sure to also hide the Manager. I can open the app just fine if it's added to the Hide list and with the Manager hidden.
There might also be other things causing issues... Check here for more tips:
https://www.didgeridoohan.com/magisk/MagiskHide#hn_Hiding_root_from_apps
Thank you
Anyhow it's still not working, I have uninstalled all the apps that can be only runt with Root in case that was the cause, but still crashing. The Phone is unrooted now...
I will try now to Re-intall Magisk and hide everything, see if it does work :S
If anyone has a similar issue or idea, all help would me much appreciated.
Thanks again

When you don't have Magisk installed there are a whole bunch of stuff that may trigger the app that MagiskHide otherwise hides. Try with Magisk again...
Thank you very much for your help!!
For people that's having the same issue, I've solved it uninstalling several apps like TWRP MANAGER, ROOT EXPLORER and other apps that can only be used with root, after did a wipe cache and rebooted.
Take care with TWRP, when you install the recovery it asks to install an APK and usually almost everyone hits yes. This app is most likely detected by some apps and considered as system modification. @Didgeridoohan thank you!! ( It may be useful to put tjis in your Wiki for everyone to be warned about this so you dont receive this question again )
Reinstalled Magisk, Hid the Magisk Manager, selected the app to hide on the list and it worked!
Everything's fine now.
Thanks a lot for you kind help

Hi
The new danish app Sundhedskortet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.digst.hc&hl=en_GB) detects root, and think i have tried everything in my own toolbox.
anyone with suggestions?
Got it working with a tip from another tread:
"You can also use "shelter" to isolate what the apps can see"
thanks to @Lu5ck
Sundhedskortet detects the hidden Magisk app. Use Island.
Tried Island and Shelter.
Fixed my issue with AL-Bank, but Sundhedskortet still detects root.
Tried uninstalling from main profile and installing directly in the work profile, but still complaining...
Feeling a bit foolish now... Forgot to actually uninstall from main profile, noticed the duplicate in my launcher, uninstalled - and now works like a charm (Shelter, but guess Island would work similarly).

Hi - I have the same problem. Can you explain what you did step by step? I installed shelter and then installed sundhedskortet directly using Google play in my work profile but the app still detects root
Thanks!
Peter
I have tried installig shelter and island - installed Sundkedakortet on the work profile but still says root detected.
Can you tell me more specific what you did to make it work?
Im rooted with Magisk and Magisk hide is activated + Sundhedskortet is hidden.

Have you uninstalled from main profile? And then remember to reboot. Mine didn't work till after reboot.
Same issue. Sundhedskortet detects root, no idea how.
Using magiskhide, rename magisk and app is added in the magiskhide list.
