Not exactly sure where to place this since it's basically about Project Fi not just Nexus 6, but I would like to know what other phones can be used on the Project Fi.
Users have reported success transferring an already activated Project Fi sim to a nexus 5 (2013) completely working. Little is discussed on this since the release of marshmallow officially but it seems very intriguing. People have also posted success on:
Sony Xperia Z5 Compact (but no details)
If you have a phone that supports Tmobile and Sprint and can test its capabilities per above on Project Fi, please post it here! I would love to know if any of these known phones can work on a pre-activated Project Fi sim. These are just a few candidates,
Moto G 2015 (3rd gen) - has full Tmobile/Sprint and Band 12 for VoLTE potential - XT1548
Moto X Style - Full tmobile / partial sprint and band 12 potential
Moto E 2nd gen (Sprint version) - ?full tmobile / full sprint (obviously) and band 12 potential
HTC One A9 (sprint version) - released Nov 6th. Full tmobile and sprint and band 12 potential - also on marshmallow.
LG G Flex 2 -LS996 full Tmobile and sprint and band 12.
LG tribute 2 LS665 - Full tmobile and ?sprint and band 12
Huawei P8 L09 - full tmobile and sprint and band 12 - ?marshmallow soon
.... any of the Iphones ... but who cares?
And any you can think of I can not.
If you have a project fi sim and any of these phones please list out your experience,
Coverage - Tmobile and/or sprint
Wifi calling - useable (?native with marshmallow)
VoLTE service?
Any quirks you've come across!
Thanks in advance,
Rico
I believe the phone has to have a special Qualcomm modem to work properly with project fi

No "I believe" or "I think"
Sources please.
Also, that describes most of the phones on this list
Thanks

Fi only supports 3 phones at this time: Nexus 6, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P:
Why is Project Fi only available on the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6?
These devices are the first smartphones that supports our network of networks. They work with the Project Fi SIM card, which supports multiple cellular networks, and a state-of-the-art cellular radio tuned to work across network types.

Interesting, Im trying to find info on the Moto X Pro - China variant? It may not have Tmobile (and likely not sprint) LTE bands.
Thanks
Rico
Interesting, some more info,
This guy states his moto x 2014 (verizon) works on project fi - data and calling. No mention of wifi calling. Phone doesnt have Volte. I imagine it uses tmobile only - no sprint coverage.

Another one
Moto X - pure edution - xt1575
Full TMobile/sprint and VoLTE capable. not on marshmallow yet.

Hi guys,
I really want to buy the Moto X, but here in Germany the price for a bamboo one with 32GB ist a whopping 600€. And buying the Moto X for 600€, whereas my Nexus 5 costs 250€ less? Yeah no. In addition, the Nexus 6 will probably be cheaper as well, so I just cant justify spending that much money on the Moto X. Does anyone know, where I could get it cheaper (import etc.)? I mean, if I converted the USD price in euros it would cost 450€. Would really appreciate any suggestions

Someone mentioned that they were able to buy the Moto X with a key for motomaker at the Phone House (DE site) with free upgrade to either wood or leather.

Thanks. Do you know what XT model is European Moto X or which LTE bands are supported? Are there different builds for EU countries like were for previous Moto x? You can't find any useful information on the sellers sites and asking them for help is fruitless. They don't know what they sell.

At this moment the pure edition doesn't support European LTE bands. It only supports bands 2, 4 and 17. Motorola said they will unlock bands 3, 5 and 7 soon via a software update. 3 and 7 are the important ones to Germany.

But we still don't if it's pure in the sense that the boot loader is unlockable. Can anyone confirm?
Motorola makes amazing phones but on the other hand it' s full of dirty tricks that annoy its customers. Remember that previous version was different for unlocked USA model, European and even Asian model. Does anybody has already new Eropean Moto X and can confirm that it is XT1095 and not 1094 or 1093 model?

Huh? 95 pure is USA only. Of what dirty tricks do you speak?
Well, it's a long history of them. Browse Motorola forums. Motorola is far to servile to the operators to the detriement of its own customers. Never truely analyzed whether such a policy pays off. I personally believe that their phones could sell better. It's not normal to not reveil significant parts of specifications for different models, weird mess with lte bands, blocked tethering, voip..
And those are only last issues.
I know there are various generations and versions of the Moto G. Do any work well with T-mobil?
yea the moto g model #xt1064 works with T-mobiles Hspa+ bands
you can get one from best buy
XT1064 here running unlocked on T-Mobile without issues. Picked it up at Sears for $133 last night. $2.60 unlock code on eBay.
As you may have heard the Droid Turbo and Turbo Maxx is not coming to Europe.
I am thinking about buying one from eBay and using it in the UK.
Will The 4G LTE work in the UK ?
GSM arena says Droid Turbo uses LTE Cat 4 (Bands 2, 3, 4, 7, 13), also confirmed on Motorola website.
I use EE network in the UK, and I've been reading that EE uses bands 3 and 7
What is the significance of "Cat 4" ?
I'm assuming that LTE will work just fine as Droid Turbo does use bands 3 and 7 but can someone confirm whether this is the case ?
Also will I need to buy an unlocked model ?
Thank you
i use the Droid turbo in Italy
we use the same 4 and 7 band lte.
Cat4 means Category 4 150 mb in downlod and 50 mb in upload
the Verizon Droids are unlocked from factory and works with all sim cards.
in Us is prohibited to sell locked phones with operators.
so it will work in UK

Sorry to ask so many questions.
I've never imported a phone before, is customs paid on delivery, to the delivery company, or do you pay to eBay, how does it work ?
I think UK custom charges is 20%.

Did you have to do anything special with your soft/hardware to get the droid turbo working? I´m talking about getting a phone and internet connection.

Moto Maxx XT1225 has LTE bands 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 17 . ("Official"specs do not show LTE band 5, but it's there.) Bootloader can be unlocked, phone can be rooted. We have TWRP recovery, and we're about to get CM12.
You can buy on EBay or Swappa. $650 -$735. New.
Comes with 64 GB internal storage and ballistic nylon back with Kevlar underneath. All the hardware of all the Quark phones is identical with the differences being storage and back covers.
If you don't care about rooting, running custom software then either Droid Turbo XT1254 or Moto Maxx XT1225 would do for your purposes. If you do care, then Moto Maxx.

no
the phone will work out of the box without doing nothing
the only problem is LTE with Wind and Tre that will not work everywhere, but only where band 7 has coverage
if u have Tim or Vodafone u will have LTE in every place where is available.
Hi everyone....
With the euro being what it is at the moment I figure now might be a good time to take adavntage.
Can anyone tell me this. IF i bought a Moto X off of amazon.es, would it work on the UK LTE band (namely ee or 3)
I want to buy a Moto X 2014 (32GB). But I live in Poland and this phone isn't available in my country. I'm thinking about buying XT1096 Verizon, but I have a few questions:
1. I read that this version haven't block card SIM. It's a true? Can I use my own card SIM (from Poland)?
2. I want to buy phone from this seller . If I choose teak wood or black wood, I will have this ulgy inscription "Verizon" or not? Yes, I know, this is a question for seller, but eBay is a black magic for me and I don't know how do this...
3. Third matter - bootloader. I read in this page - - I will be able to unlock bootloader. Also I read about problems with VoLTE. Phone from link is a VoLTE, or normal version? There will be problems?
4. ROM. I want to have Android 6. But I'm looking AOSP or another pure ROM, because I want to install Xposed. What will be the best?
And what I should know about this version in my situation?
I use it in Europe either and everything works fine.
You can unlock the bootloader and then flash the stock 6.0 of xt1095 (the pure edition), it is very good rom and I used it for half a year.
Just recently I flashed nexus experience which feels much better for me.
You can have xposed on both.
About the ugly 'verizon' inscription , yes you will have it no matter what. This is xt1096, Verizon's version.
Remember that custom ROMs don't support Moto apps such as Display and Voice, which are among this phone's main selling points and do not have any real alternatives
@OrenGazala and @Flipz77, Yours answers are very helpful. Big thanks! I forgot paste link to eBay seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Verizon-Unl...hash=item3602a50d3a:m:m5feJrL_YfuqhdKODPEUR0g.
On the picture phone don't have this ugly inscription so I ask. And is this phone 'normal' or VoLTE?
Have you looked at the XT1095 Pure Edition? They are factory unlocked and do not have any carrier branding such as Verizon. I bought mine used on Swappa for a lot less than that link on eBay.
I'm looking at buying another one for a friend of mine who lives in the UK and I'm trying to make sure that the LTE bands will be compatible with his network. It seems that Europe mostly uses 800, 1800 and 2600. The XT1096 has 1800 and 2600 while the XT1095 has only 1800, however my friends network (Three) uses only 1800 and 800 so the lack of 2600 isn't an issue for him, however the lack of 800 could be. But I'm not sure and I don't know how to find out.
Might want to look into what bands your local operator uses in Poland.
