Using the Verizon version of the phone and was able to put Cloudy 2.2 on it no problem and I tried to put an updated Cloudy 2.5 on it and failed. I'm not able to put the phone into download mode. The screen will turn on but nothing shows. Just need some help on finding out what to do to get it back to normal.

Basically I woke up in the morning and my cognition 2.2 beta 9.1.2 had reflashed itself like I had just flashed it. I thought it was a bit weird, so I decided to try to install apps. It said I had no space for it, which was not true as I have plenty of space. When I restart my phone I lose all my settings etc, so I decided to try an odin oneclick restore, but it's stuck in download mode, and odin seems stuck saying "<ID:0/005> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!" I've been waiting for about 10 minutes now and i'm getting rather worried, as it has never taken this long. It seems like a hardware failure to me. What would be the next course of action?
I ended up successfully flashing back to stock, but now after boot, nothing is displayed. on the device, the keys do light up and respond to touch, however.
Update: Took it to the at&t store today and they gave me a brand new cappy, though unfortunately I can't put this one into download mode for some reason. Anyone know how to fix that? XD

Hello,
I upgraded to Froyo last week, and hadn't had any problems until now. Yesterday when I had my bluetooth hooked up to the phone, it all of a sudden disconnected, which has happened many times before when the phones battery goes dead. So, last night I plugged into the wall to charge it, and this morning I wake up to the screen constantly flashing on and off (showing the black startup screen that says "Galaxy S I9000 Samsung".
I've tried plugging it into my computer, plugging it back into the wall charger, and booting into recovery mode, but all it does is show the battery charging screen momentarily (batteries shows to have no charge it whatsoever), and then switches back to flashing the startup screen.
Can someone please help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much,
Cam
Hi Cam,
I have the same issue as you have and I'm trying to find the way to reload my device with the stock OS Android 2.1 Eclair that includes the bootloader that seems defective for some reason.
I was bounced by from Bell support to Samsung support, then to Best Buy where I got it and back to Bell.
I'll keep you in the loop if I find a solution.
Good luck

Hey Maxx,
I called Samsung this morning and they told me to take it to the Bell store where I purchased it from, and they may need to flash it or send it in for repairs.
Definitely keep me in the loop, it's much appreciated. This is extremely frustrating.
Thanks,
Cam
Hi Cam,
I will try the instruction found in the post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870058 after work.
Let's hope this will do the trick.
Maxx
Hi Maxx,
Did you get a chance to try it out? If so, did you have any luck?
Thanks,
Cam
Hi Cam,
No success with any firmware combination I tried, I think the only thing left is to send it back for repair. There is many others that have the same issues. All seems to be related to an internal SD card that is defective.
Maxx
Thanks, dude. Unfortunately it looks like I'll be sending it back today. You know whether or not I should take the two SD cards out before sending it back? I presume I should at least take out the card that I purchased separately?
Very late reply but this happened for me today (i was trying to install cwm through program Heimdall). So i put phone to download mode and using odin i was able to push in android 2.3.6 and everything works fine (except root permision gone).
I have CM6 running and love it. Props to the Cyanogenmod XDA crews for making a non-techie such as myself about to stumble through the process. It took some bouncing around between websites but I was able to get it done.
However, I did have a blackout week over the holidays and did drop my phone a few times. Long story short, my smart phone is no longer so smart looking.
I need to get it back to stock just to make sure I don't have any warranty/insurance issues. When I take it in to get replaced.
I tried running the RUU from htc.com and that didn't work. It doesn't get past the Bootloader phase. Something about the phone isn't connected to the USB (even though it is & the comp recognizes it as a android device). This happens when the black screen comes on with the silver HTC letters.
I thought maybe it was the fact that I had a different baseband version (necessary to get Cyanogenmod on there) and when I try to boot into recovery mode to flash the official radio it gets stuck at the white screen with green htc letters on it.
Some things I just noticed as well, I am unable to have the PC HTC Sync software recognize my phone.
Thanks for the help.
I figured it out, don't worry about it

Hey guys,
I updated my galaxy s to a custom ROM yesterday.. Battery started draining and phone was heated all the time it was turned on.
As it was discharging very quick, I plugged in the charger, phone was heated up and I suddenly got a whole green screen on phone.
I removed out battery instantly, I let it cool.. again inserted the battery and started. I got the same green display. I tried to put phone in recovery or download mode, I am getting same green display everytime I start phone.
Phone is working flawlessly as I can get phones and message tones, even touch is working. I can hear lock and unlock sound when I slide my finger over phone screen. Only thing is display is not working.
Now, What should I replace? is Digitizer working? Will samsung cover this under warranty (I've installed custom ROM on my phone) if not what will be total cost of repairs?
I dont know what might be wrong but maybe you can tell us what custom rom caused this issue so we can avoid it ?
not sure on a solution, but if you flash a standard ROM using Odin, then you can return it to Samsung and tell them that after updating to Froyo using Kies you have this problem.
as the firmware on the phone will be the official firmware then i cant see any reason why your warranty wouldn't cover it [thats what i did anyway]. just make sure you flash the phone, modem and csc files to totally restore to stock.
BTW this may also sort you problem.
Matt
Just yesterday I was trying to install a 4.3 Rom for my HTC One. Little did I know, they weren't compatible with the Sprint versions so I technically bricked my phone. I spent all of last night trying to put a stock version back on the phone but even if i'm successful I get a black screen. It would let me go through the "add Wi-fi" screen and set up my phone but after a certain time, it reboots and throws me into a black screen with a toolbar that have no signal, the battery and the time. I currently have the 1.31 version and apparently there are no RUU to help fix the problem. Any suggestions?
I'll PM you when I get home or you can look here
