Before you enabled Mobile Data.. Did you set the APN settings correctly? APN is the Access Point Names for the specific carrier you are with.
This link will help you with the Access Point Names.
http://www.thecellguide.com/samsungn5howtoapn.php
I'm starting to think you got ripped off... Where you trying to buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 5? Or a Samsung Galaxy J7?? I hate to tell you this if you wanted a Samsung Galaxy Note you didn't get it and you were sold a Samsung Galaxy J7 which is why you couldn't find the unlock codes because Verizon doesn't sim card lock their devices anymore and if I was you and you know who you bought that J7 from, I'd pay them a visit!! I shudder to know what you paid for that Galaxy J7 because a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 a REAL one like mine 64GB cost me 800.00 USD and that Samsung Galaxy J7 isn't even worth 200.00 USD... What did they charge you for the phones price to buy it??

I have received configuration messages from my mobile carrier when I inserted SIM card, and I and installed them (the carrier is MTS, from Serbia). Yes, I wanted to buy Samsung Galaxy J710 Dual SIM. Both SIM slots are unlocked. I tried turning Wifi off and just mobile data on... Nothing changed... Same error again.
I just realized that this topic is for Galaxy Note 5 phones... Sorry about that. This is the only place I found mentioning anything about "Software Update - Registration Failed" problem...

All I can suggest is to install updated firmware for the J7 using Odin and then put a sim card in and set the APN settings correctly then see if it works and if it doesn't you'll have to go to the place that you buy your Internet from and have them set it up..

Is it possible that wrong CSC code caused software update registration to fail?
I lost my whole day reading about it. It is set to XSG (United Arab Emirates, I think).
Also, I was supprised when I found out that KNOX Warranty Void is 0x1. I never rooted this phone, nor install anything outside Google play. I also found information that my native language interface was installed on 27th December 2016. Is it possible that this broke KNOX? Could it be the proof that someone did something that is preventing device to update?

Yes thats all possible since knox is tripped.. Once knox gets tripped it usually causes the phone a lot of problems.. And no installation of a language cannot trip knox the only thing that could tripped knox was because someone rooted it before you got it.. And if it has an incorrect CSC yeah that will mess with any updates... If you want to at least get that phone up and running again I'd suggest you may as well reroot it again and install your own kernel and rom that you can find on the net.. There's usually a few good roms and kernels out nowadays that run great and a lot of times even better than the stock rom.. Are you sure you didn't buy a fake phone?? What does CPU Z from the play store say about the information on your phone? Like the bootloader information the CPU the amount of memory and even the amount of space.. I need to know so I can check against a real one.

Hi Mikkie86, I just bought an International Note 5 and having the same issue. It's XSG and Knox is 0x1. Also it doesn't even try to look up software updates, it says Process Failed. Have you got any solution with that?
The place I've bought is doesn't accept returns, I'm so mad right now. They also didn't inform me about the device is Note 5 Duos. I figured it out as I was putting my sim card in it.

Hi all,
I have my phone , it's an Galaxy Note8... was unlock already because i can use with my at&t sim card even the logo when booting on was tmobile logo...
Well here the thing: i can make phone call and texting, using with wifi is ok, but it can't use with cellular data, even i turned cellular data mode was on already! Last night i went to Settings, and do the Factory reset. After that my imei was null / no imei... So i did try restarting on and off the phone couple times luckily the imei was appeared again - but with another imei not match the imei before !?!?
It's long story makes you guys get bored right? But i just want to ask is there anyway to flash this Model to an USA region ROM? because i search google says SM-N9500 is from China ... How to flash my phone to another ROM region and avoid of losing imei again plus can using on cellular data. ( mine was not root because i don't know how to ) ... Below is my phone informations..
Please help me with your kindness and best regards for everyone reading this > :highfive:

All I can say is read here and you will learn. As long as the CPU/SoC is the same you can cross-flash. I am reading more and more saying as long as its ARM based doesnt matter, but safer than sorry. Please Note BE CAREFUL (AYOR aka- BRICKing, WARRANT VOIDING, ETC), its a little advanced for beginners.
My experience has been with Galaxy S3 and Note4 & Edge variant.
ALWAYS WHEN CROSS-FLASHING, REMOVE THE MODEM FILES AND BOOT-LOADER FILES. You will have to lurk about xda to identify these files. On older Galaxy Devices could tell you from memory what the boot-loader names are. Samsung in Increasing KNOX Security has added so many partitions its not even funny, its scary!
PS: I cannot and will not help with this project.

Could you do a adb system pull of your N9500SQU1AQC9 device. Im trying to port n920p with the note8 firmware. Nothing else will will port to the SM-N920P but the N9500. Im currently using the teleteam 5.2 s8/with n8 features. I want to go full note 8.

Security patches do not block your ability to unlock the bootloader on the F/FD variants

Everyone in this thread says yes, not sure why you're doubting it.
The dual sim model uses F firmware and shows F in settings, it's normal. It's just an F model really with 2 sims.
Ok thank you all, i was not sure because the "root away" post, though he meant the chance of rooting is away. Thank you all, i will root now ?
in dev options, can you still see OEM unlock?
its toggled on?
then just root.

Ahh sorry mate missed your post. The cqrrier specific threads here on s8 and up are pretty much dead. Yeah the safestrap and junk is all here on xda. Cf technicly is made for us yes. But because we have a locked bl it wont work. But if we where say to unlock it tomorrow yes cf auto would work perfectly in therory..if you search xda and s8 no verizon youll be taken. Screw it here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8
The s8 is not like past devices. All U.S. models are identicle so any 950u thread can or will apply to you as well. Xda has a wonderful search bar at the top of each page and it actually works really good once you get to know it.
I'm coming late to the party so to speak.
I finally got a S8 (Verizon) but have yet to move over to it.
My current phone is an S7 (Verizon) and via this website I was able to use a "non-customized" firmware ROM files along with odin3.12 to flash my S7. I did that so that I could use the "moblie hotspot" feature and give wifi to my laptop as I have unlimited data on my phone.
My S7 is "stuck" on Android 7, July 1, 2017 security patch, G930UUES4QG1 which I have been fine with not getting any verizon updates so long as I can use the "moblie hotspot".
Are you saying that with the S8 it is **NOT** possible to do what I did with the S7?
Here is the info on my S8
Model: SM-G950U
Carrier: Verizon
Android Version: 8.0.0
Baseband: G950USQS5CSB1
Kernel: 4.4.78
Build: R16NW.G950USQS5CSB1

Bro if u found then tell me.
This isn't much of a question more is it a vent of frustration towards Samsung. I am still on the July Security Policy despite Samsung claiming Monthly Security Updates. When OEM's refuse to Update their devices on time or out right at all this is when fragmentation becomes a big deal. Monthly should mean Monthly Until the end of life. No exceptions.
Thoughts?

then just update it manualy:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-9/firmware/SM-N960F/BNG/download/N960FXXS3CSH2/286019/
you can also use samfirm tool 0.3.6 or frija app to download it with ure pc since that web site has trash speeds and flash it using odin. but be sure ure pc has samsung android drivers before using odin.
i believe you could also use samsung smart switch software to check for an update and flash it too.
so as you can see you can just update the device yourself instead of waiting. read and search xda for any of the tools and ways to use them aforementioned.

you can probably skip it all together. but your csc is the carrier code. if the phone is not carrier tied then you should either use the link i sent which is multi csc and would probably contain your sim CSC or find out the carrier code matching your carrier/sim.
read up on samsung and CSC for more details.

i have the same model but i believe it's something to do with the region instead of the carrier.
In comparison withe the firmware for both SG and PH, PH received 2 updates from July (CSF9 and CSG3) as compared to SG which only received one (CSF9).

Yeah, I think ill just wait it out because flashing over a security patch seems like a nuclear option. Hopefully in arrives in the coming weeks. Thanks for the help and information though everyone I appreciate it.
You guys are touching a contentious issues with the way Samsung delivers update in Singapore.
Due to the national telcos bottlenecking the process, Samsung phones are getting much lesser updates than the rest of the world.
As an example, Galaxy Note 9 in Europe (UK/DE/FR), version N960F which is identical to the one sold in Singapore received a total of 24 updates, including 4 different built of Android 10/OneUI 2.0 and is up to date with the March 2020 security update.
In Singapore, the Note 9 received 8 updates and the latest is from October 2019 with the October security update.

Samkey is getting updates everyday so maybe there is a support for it. unfortunately I bought a credit from a reseller and till now didn't get it to test.
and now I'm on Android 12 beta 1 and I don't know if is going to work or not.

If I Flash My Device Can I Get Future Monthly Security Updates and Official Beta Updates In Samsung Members Application ???

You won't get OTA updates for the beta builds, which you'll have to flash yourself every time the package is available. After the last beta, you will get a stable update.
I bought Galaxy 21 Ultra 5G with Singapore region. I changed it to DBT region via special code (do not remember it now) but seemed legit as the dialpad code opened a sevice menu and I only zicked DBT radio button on the list of available CSC list. I get updates regularly when DBT releases them, which usually is very fast.
However, I do not get the banner on Samsung members for One UI update. The reason is that Samsung has my account linked to my country, Albania, and I cant change it without losing my orher samsung data linked to this account.
I would think that once your phone is in apptoved region for Beta testing, and the latest security patch is installed for that reagion, you can create a new samsung account while using a VPN with Germany location. This would set your Samsung account to Germany region and the Samsung members will check your location to Germany. The only problem I foresee is your mobile carrier! I do not know if Samsung members checks also the carrier signal, nor do I know if you can use Samsung Mambers without a carrier signal (airplane mode). Same goes for wifi signal. They all trigger location regardless of your VPN.

Hello, yes you can enroll once changed your csc to DBT, but unfortunately I tried many methods to change mine to DBT but all failed. finally I did install OTA file to get Android 12 beta and yes it is safe to change csc if you know what you are doing.

I am planning on to unlock bootloader only. My device S21 Ultra currently Android 11, did'nt update. Will I continue recieving official updates from Samsung and able to install them (not flashing that, OTA ones). I am not going to flash custom recovery or kernel or even custom rom. Will it work that way?

Just out of curiosity, what advantage will unlocking the bootloader give you if you're not going to flash a custom recovery or a custom ROM? You're planning to at least root the phone after unlocking bootloader right?
Actually I have 2 devices. Galaxy M01 (has no powerful DAC) and S21 U. Got Android 12 on S21 today but wanted to check out Viper 4 Android cause its currently little unstable for A12.
Well update is I unlocked and currently enjoying Viper. Let's see how far it goes.
