I was using stock for a while after i got invited for soak test. Recently after exams, i flashed minimal os with decipher personal kernel and im happy with the battery and performance and stability of the rom. If u intend on using stock rom, flash stellar kernel. That's the way to go.

Hi guys. just gonna ask,
I've seen and learned about the build number, and the builds that i come across reading the forums isn't like mine.
Mine is JZO54K.I8190NZSAMC1 so i don't know if it is compatible when it comes to flashing ROM and kernels and other tinkering the OS stuffs to my build. Thanks to your answers in advance.
As long as the rom is for your device, lets say you got the 8190L then you can only flash 8190L roms

It depends does the rom include your model? if it does give it a go
i think it does include my model but to be sure since it's my first time flashing custom roms. i flashed enox revenge and it's going smoothly no noticeable bugs yet. thank you for confirming. now i have peace of mind when it comes to flashing stuffs.

Glad it worked out in the end for you! I tried enox revenge, but i wanted more of a s4 feel so i went with dmod. Both are excellent roms very stable to stuttering or anything.
i've read the thread about dmod. doesn't it drain your battery fast? i think that's one issue of the dmod right? and to fix that you have to flash something (which i've forgotten).
btw thank you again!

Hey XDA.
I'm sitting here with my newly rooted LG phone. And now i want to install a custom kernel. The problem is, i dont know which to choose and what settings after install..
I have looked at iodak kernel because that is whst i found that is compatible with stock rom.
Anybody that can tell pro and cons of different kernels and what settings i should set i to for maximal battery life with 3g always on.
Thank you

Cyanogenmod and werewolf kernel, since the last update of werewolf i think its the best kernel for gaming and has a great performance and battery life, also livecolors are available with ararargis Toolbox

Does werewolf work with mokee rom?

Stock ROM + iodak gives performance similar to initial v10a ICS. Which is blazing fast

i agree aswell :good:
iodak v6 if you have Stock ROM
Optimus Prime is you have a Cyanogen-mod based rom
Either way always do a full nandroid backup before trying any new kernel or ROM.
Good luck!
Why optimus prime over werewolf?

Its all down to preference. Try all if you have too, its very quick to flash a kernel and no factory reset required (usually) I like iodak and werewolf, I would probably like optimus prime too if it supported stock rom

Well im using optimus prime on stockrom and its great good baterry life and no problems at all for me

Both "Werewolf" and "Optimus Prime" are good kernels. But they are a bit different. I'm actually using Optimus Prime v2.7 for 2 reasons: it has WHEATLEY Processor Governor (which is quite fast and it doesn't drain battery really fast) and it uses a sort of Hybernation of the cellphone, when screen is turned off.
Werewolf is good tho, but it drains too much battery.
Anyway, i'm really disappoint about the wifi drivers, which seem to drain a lot of battery, when Wifi is enabled. The wlan_rx_wake wake locks wake up the device too many times, so the battery does not perform really well in any kind of kernel (custom, cm stock and LG stock). I have to disable it and use data traffic only, otherwise smartphone will shut down in few hours.
I'm kind of stuck on which ROM I should try to flash because most of the ROMs I flash on my always get stuck on the boot animation , I'm not sure if its because I used to use SafeStrap Recovery. Any help though, it would be greatly apricated.
Your supposed to have a unlocked bootloader when installing anyone of these new Roms . use myth tools to unlock your bootloader.

Oh thanks ! Do you have any good recommendations on recoverys with links and for ROMs also ?
Twrp is good and carbon is my personal favorite but try one at a time to see which one is good for you its all about your personal taste.

The new touch cwm works real good and I run PACMAN.
Sent from my PACMAN MATRIX HD MAXX
My current favourite is HoloBlur with PurePerformance. The battery life is quite good, it's fast, and stable.
I run CWM touch recovery.
For ROMs: HoloBlur X (PurePerformance) is a beatiful stock based ROM to get your feet wet.
CM 10.2 and BeanStalk 4.3 are the 2 best custom ROMs I have ever had the pleasure of using. Carbon is great but the battery life just isn't up to par with BeanStalk or CM for me, plus since Carbon jumped ship to 4.3, a lot of features don't work like Trebuchet settings and PIE. PACman 4.3 is awesome but I would wait for a new nightly from Skeevy that reports better battery. As it is now, it is too laggy and unstable to use everyday (for me at least). Don't even mess with Uxylon or SLIM, play store and mobile data are broken on those.
If you don't mind freezes/crashes once in a while, you could run CM10.2 nightlies and automatically update them using Cyandelta. If you want to go CM nightlies, use CWM 3.0.3.4 (in the last 2-3 pages of the 3.0.3.2 thread) but if you're going to use PAC or Holoblur, you can use CWM 3.0.3.6 touch.

Yeah, the RAZR TWRP has messed up touch points, and CWM touch works fine, unless you're on the official CM nightlies and updating with Cyandelta like me.
I still don't know what the hell cyan delta is lol.

Hi guys, I am just wondering what is the best kernel for the Nexus 4 Mako. I am looking to improve battery life and can you flash a kernel and stay with stock 4.4.2? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
There is no best kernel, every user's preference and usage are different. The best you can do is try all of them and see which suit you the best.

Best cm12 based rom is pacman for me...but all cm12 roms have memory management problems.

AICP is fastest but not long. I installed 80 apps and it slow down worse than cm12. PAC have little features
Stay on Stock for the moment, or flash Titan Prime.
Fast, stable and RAM issues are non-existing.
Running 50 hours straight already on it, still 25% battery left.
And if you install Xposed correctly, you get all the features found on CM12 based ROMs.
I will switch to AOSP or CM12 based ROMs once 5.1 comes in and settles down.
I am using cm12 official and i like to use cm becoz in that we can apply themes
