I'm using the Moto PowerPack. It's been working fine, but since updating to 6.0 my phone cannot see the device to connect. I've tried to connect via the security settings/smartlock and the Moto Connect app.
It still recognized my car BT as a trusted device after the update.
Any trouble-shooting advice?
well, you are going to be better off asking your question where questions are supposed to be asked, so that people see that you need help, but genetal is the wrong section to get help in. ask a mod to move your thread to the q&a section http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/attention-questions-t3228454

hey guys,
I have got the XDA Stella (also known as Kaiser) and i herd you can make this phone act as a modem. basically i got an archos (media tablet with internet) which i want to be able to use the internet on my archos through the phone. only problem is i have no idea how to do this or what to get?? can anyone advise please. it would be through wireless or i can do through USB, but was wondering how to do it.
thanks in advance
Shane
Your trying to use your phone as a computer modem right.
If so what you do is this. link computer to phone via usb.
mine then ask me if i want to internet share i click that then click done. if you dont get that option try going to start/programs/connections/internet sharing
that should do what you need.

Erm he wants to share the connection with an Archos, not with a PC. That won't work.
To the OP: USB most likely won't work, as the Archos certainly won't recognise the Kaiser. On the PC it requires Activesync and its drivers to be installed to work. We never know, you can try running internet sharing onto USB and plug it into the Archos, and see...
Otherwise you'd have to use WMWifiRouter or the manual hack to share the connection over Wifi. Beware that sucks battery down like hell on the Kaiser, don't expect more than 2 hours on a full battery.
Whats the Wifirouter you mean just on a normal computer or is it software to buy for the kaiser, and the manual hack am i likely to get caught by my service provider??
there is a option to adhoc to a computer, i was wondering if there is a way to change that to the archos?
also whats the manual hack or where can i find it??
Hey man all you have to do is use search, this topic has been discussed for at least a year now..
wmWiFirouter is a program that turns your phone into a wifi access point. Again, search has all of that info for you plus tons of other great knowledge.

Thanks got wifirouter working, just cant get my archos 5 to find it now
On the WMWifirouter site there should be a list of devices that will not work.. I think PSP's do not work.
Hello all, I just got my captivate yesterday, and it's running 2.1 Eclair. I wish to upgrade it to FroYo. However, when I try and connect it to my computer via Kies, there is a notification on my computer's task bar stating 'A problem occurred during hardware installation. Your new hardware might now work properly', and from what I've read on these forums, it is a driver problem. I'd rather not root it the day after I got it, so any suggestions on how to get this connectivity issue cleared up is greatly appreciated.
I apologize if this question has been asked before, as I'm new here, and somewhat lacking in the 'software development area'.
Thanks for your help.
Guys please, I need dire help. D:
i think the reason why no one has replied was the fact you as asking for SGS Captivate help on the I9000 forum
moving your topic to where this should have been posted to begin with
You need to get the appropriate drivers for your computer to be able to connect to you phone.
You can get them from the samsung website.
Eh, okay guys. Got that working, no more connection error. Now Kies just cycles 'connecting to device' forever, and that's not a driver issue.
But it's a step, I suppose.
When I connect the USB cable that came with my Samsung Captivate to the computer, it says that it has not installed successfully and does not give me any other message but to check with the device manufacturer. I have looked through a few forums already and trying to find an answer to this has been difficult. I am very sorry if this is a repeat question/concern.
On that note, if repeat or incorrectly categorized forum topics are such an issue, then what's the point of the forums? It's bound to happen. I have never seen a forum so strict before. Sometimes errors are made and not everyone has days on end to search through the entire backlog of forum threads to find an answer to their question...

Have you completely uninstalled all device drivers for the phone, rebooted your computer, and reinstalled them?

You did this on purpose. You know you posted a question in the Themes and Apps subforum. Your title even starts off with [Q]. Come on now, you're asking to get yelled at.
Moto G 2nd Gen XT1063 won't connect to my Windows PC after the Marshmallow update. In the past, I would see two folders upon connecting (one of them being the SD card). Now I just see an empty folder, and when I try to copy a file into it, I get the "Cannot copy item - The device has either stopped or has been disconnected" message in Windows.
USB debugging is enabled. I uninstalled/re-installed Motorola Device Manager (2.5.4), but that did not do any good.
Any help will be appreciated.
Note: I f***ing hate this. Whoever rolled this out without properly testing should be fired. I wish I could go back in time to this morning.
OK, here's how I solved this, and hopefully it'll help others:
Developer Options -> Select USB Configuration
In my case, MTP was shown to be already selected (as it should be).
I clicked on the "Charging only" option. This disconnected the device from the PC.
Then I selected MTP AGAIN. That did the trick (there was some driver install message that was displayed in Windows). Then the connection folder showed the familiar "Internal storage" display.
I cannot believe that as users, we have to go through this crap. Shame on Motorola/Lenovo/Google.
Spoke too quickly - it seems the phone loses the MTP setting every time and it has to be set over each time you connect to the PC.
Not exactly the answer to your question, but I was helping a friend who also has a moto g and a similar problem, and after we achieved nothing he just went with Droid Over Wifi as an alternative. Works pretty well imo, more reliable than mtp

Sphynxie, thanks for the link, will try it out.
By the way, I have since learned that this is how it works in Marshmallow:

And a bug report has been filed w/ Google:

Appreciate those links, that's some nice insight into Google's continued efforts to make file transfer over usb as awful as possible. IMO MTP isn't worth dealing with. My own phone got updated recently so I also switched to wireless solutions. Unless I happen on a pc without any wi fi access, I won't be using a cable anymore.
Recently purchased from Google Pixel 5 unlocked updated to Android 11.
Endeavoring to root it following the excellent Homeboy76 instructions.
Using the correct sized cable does not and will not usb tether to my windows 11 computer especially when debugging is selected. However, it does connect and is recognized by windows when file transfer /Android auto is selected on the phone's options. So Far so good?
However further along the root instructions, it is necessary to disconnect the cable enter the phone's sub-menus by the power +volume up down buttons then re-connect the USB cable and verify by a Powershell cmd .
Root instructions specify that USB debug has to be selected on the phone.
Obviously, I am doing something wrong as the computer USB connection following accessing the phones secondary menu disconnects and does not show on Windows devices.
There are well-documented reports on the internet concerning the pixel 5 USB connection issues alas none of them solve my problem.
All helpful suggestions are welcome.
Thank You
Roy Shorter
