Recently my phone has displayed a task bar notification of low memory...and after clicking it, it takes me to the remove programs menu...
since this occured my emails wont sync. The settings are emails should automatically sync, however it isn't working...
any ideas?
Do you have root? Have you partitioned your SD card? What ROM are you running?
If you're not rooted, move any cache you can to your sd card and remove some apps.....or root and move everything to your sd card!

It is not actually low on memory, it is low on STORAGE SPACE.
In other words, you DISK IS FULL.
The reason it won't sync is that it needs to use some storage space to store the data that it syncs.
You need to delete some junk and then it will work again.
Also note: That menu isn't just for deleting programs. It can also be used to clear program data, for example, scroll down and click on "Browser" -- it will give you the option to delete some stuff (cache, etc.).
hey, im root.. on the newest CM, I have already got apps on sd...the low memory display appeared after putting on a 50mb file...since then, I have deleted around 200mb, but the memory notification wont leave.
any help?
You need to delete it from the place that is full... INTERNAL STORAGE.

thanks, ...hate uninstalling appz...too slow
My TL gives an warning says my internal storage is 75% full, but clearly I only used like 10%.
I transferred all my stuff to cloud (I don't have a SD card) and cleared the internal storage. Then it's been good for 2 weeks before the warning came back again. Now I can't even install apps because it says there's no sufficient storage. What is going on?

Force close that service or disable the notification by holding it down from your notification pannel->info->disable notification

Well I tried to ignore the notification but that's not a solution. It is a real problem. Now I got an Chrome update but it won't install because "Insufficient Storage".
ok now I've temporarily solved the problem by moving some apps from "phone" to "internal storage" (what does that even mean?)
so is there a "phone" storage separate from "internal storage"?

Well, yes. You have 2GB reserved on your phone (from the 16gb internal) for apps. Then you can move a part of some apps to the internal. Thats why you only have like 10GB on your internal. And not the 16GB as the phone comes with. It also uses that space for apps,rom,...

I see. Can I put more space to the reserved? Like 4GB for apps and 8GB for internal storage?
I found out clearing the cache of Chrome and Google+ frees up a lot of memory.
My Note is still going strong, but I have a permanent notification about lack of storage space, and the phone runs slowly.
The version of Android is 4.1.2 - would switching to KitKat reduce the amount of space required? I heard they tried to make it compatible with cheaper phones with less built-in storage space?.
I don't have many non-essential apps installed by now, and I have them on the SD card where possible. It seems that the Google Apps are now so big that they are taking up all the space.
My phone is rooted - if I switch to KitKat I guess I should be able to add the option to install to SD back in.
If KitKat is a good idea, and I want to keep S-Pen functions, which would be a fast rom to use?
In Storage Settings how big does it say your storage areas are?

Total space 1.97GB
Available 125MB
USB Storage Total space 11.07GB
Available 1.99GB
SD Card Total space 3.97GB
Available 1.54GB
Switching ROM won't change it. But you can repartition to increase the internal storage size. You'll have to backup everything though because it will all be deleted.

Thanks, looks good I will check it.
With around 22gb of memory tied up in system/miscellaneous files (which I assume I have no control over without a root, i can only delete a few mb of the miscellaneous files ), is 10gb the typical amount of free memory available on this phone? Hopefully this is a memory leak thing, but I haven't seen any positive results since the new firmware upgrade.

10gb seems to low for free space
That's abnormal unless you've got loads of games or media.. Check to verify that you have no archived backup from recovery. Those take up gb's worth of space.
So I've scoured the settings and backup definitely isn't enabled

Backups made in recovery will NOT show up in folders.. Try wiping backup archives in recovery.
Go to my files, device storage, click more and click show hidden files. Check to see which folders are using a huge amount of storage
The easiest way to see what's taking so much memory is with the free program DiskUsage. You can download it from the Google Play store - it's small and very easy to use. Just start it and it'll show you what's what

Ballin, yea so a while back I attempted to run a GameCube emulator and downloaded like 3 games for it..thought I cleared everything but I guess quite a few gigs were still hidden in unknown territories...
Miscellaneous files down to 711mb, thanks guy(s)
LG urbane is supposed to have 4GB on spec, using windows conversion, 4×1000x1000x1000÷1024÷1024÷1024, it should be 3.72GB.
But my watch storage shows 2.94GB under android wear setting. ( android wear => setting=>LG urbane=> watch storage)
There is 1GB mssing.
I've got 2.11GB available/2.77GB total. Guess the apps, data, OS and updates to same take up some space.

It seems some internal storage are hidden. The total storage is misleading though. Shouldn't they show the the whole storage space to us and then make those hidden storage as system file?
