headphone symbol stuck on screen - LG Optimus L90

My son's phone has the headphone symbol in the status bar even though there are no headphones connected. The problem is he can't hear any music unless he plugs his headphones in. Anyone have any idea why this would be happening? Is it a software problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

Maybe some dust or something is inside the hole.. Try cleaning, restart phone

Actually, it was a software problem. I reflashed the system and all is good now.

[Q] Mainboard jack sensing failed, any way to force audio through speakers?

LG-P970 with CM10.
About a week ago, my phone started thinking that there were headphones plugged in to the device, even though there weren't, and subsequently routed audio, including call audio, through the headphones port.
I have confirmed it's the mainboard because I unplugged the audio jack circuitry from the mainboard with no change. I have also confirmed it's not the ROM, as the issue has been present when the stock 2.3.3 ROM and CM10 ROM were in use.
Therefore, is there any software/kernel hack I can perform that will allow for me to manually route the audio through the device's speakers?
No, flash stock and go to a service center to get your main board replaced.

Similar problem
i have a similar problem, but it is the other way around: if I insert an jack, the phone doesn't switch on the headset, and this is for a while. It happened while I was talking on the phone (using a hands free system) and suddenly I wasn't hearing anything, it was just like I removed the jack. I thought that with the new ICS update this will be fixed somehow, but it didn't. I checked the input and cleaned somehow but still no luck.
The good news is that I did found a widget that turns on and off the headset and I can listen and use the headphones, but still, this should be done automatically and I am thinking that still, this may be a software problem and not a physical one. Any idea how to fix this?
Thank You.

[Q] Swap default landscape mode

Hi I'm wondering if There's any way (app, xposed module, etc) of make the reverse landscape mode the reverse mode by default. Let me explain myself, when im playing Games like NFSMW I use headphones and it's uncomfortable to hold the device while the headphone jack it's connected, the problem it's that in some games the rotation it's locked so i can't play with te device rotated. I tried apps like rotation locker and Ultimate rotation control but the problem is that with these apps when the screen it's forced to rotate the gyroscope stay intact making the car (NFSMW) turn the opposite way. So I realized that the only way of play this correctly is either using an app that swap the gyroscope (which I didn't find) or better a trick to make the device think that the reverse landscape mode is the default landscape mode.
Thanks in advance.

On rooted roms this is not a problem and for sure many apps will allow you to switch the screen 360°. But if you can't and your problem is only the audio jack I will considering to take bluetooth headphones which they are much more comfortable, specially when you play heavy games.
I like my Senheiser HD 280 pro for gaming and Im rooted but with Asphalt 8 and NFS Most Wanted There's no way of playing with the reverse landscape mode, not without Making the gyroscope Crazy at least.

Connect Z1 via bluetooth to PC or laptop and plug in your Senheiser HD 280 pro, what you think?

No, you can connect you Z1 via bluetooth to listening audio on any your PC and plug the headphones into the computer. Also in this way you can use a lot of more surround settings from you PC to get best audio ever playing games on Z1, even a 2.1 surround or 5.1 with subwoofer. Already did and the sound is amazing.
I guess that's a good suggestion but Im always on the go

Of curse, that why I was refering about bluetooth Headphones or even Handset. I know still an option to switch the default landscape, for sure, but at the moment I do not exactly how. I never had this problem. For me best way is bluetooth so even the cable is not disturbing.

Headphones not working

Anyone else has/had this problem with Z1? Model C6903
My headphones aren't being recognized (I tried several including official sony headphones - i did not try bluetooth headphones) - when I connect them, the headphones icon does not appear in the notification tray.
This problem started after i got my phone from the repair shop (display had to be replaced). Before sending it to repair shop I did a factory reset of the phone.
Guys from the repair shop said they tested the headphone jack by connecting it with speakers and they said sound would play normally over external speakers.
What could be the cause of this (besides faulty repair)? When I get home today I will test the phone with bluetooth headphones, if it doesnt work with them it surely is a software problem..
I am running official 4.3 ROM with stock kernel, unrooted device..
I've even disabled smart connect app but problem is still present
Take a Q-tip cotton ball and put a bit of it in the jack then take the plastic stick of the cotton ball and place it over the tiny cotton in the headphone jack and twist, roll it (clean the headphone jack) using the plastic stick
will try that, but i did not wet the phone..
edit
didnt help
Sometimes happens to me as well... I try with two different pair of headphones for the moment: one works all the times (Monster), the other (WESC) less than 50% of the times.
I'm sure it's some kind of hardware-detection problem.
As you, I didn't get my phone underwater (yet!, but some day I will for sure!)...
strange issue....
Someone on here reported the ring around the opening on their device had moved and was sat proud of the rest of the body, I can't help wonder is this what's happened to yours? Even half.a millimetre would be enough to dislodge the contacts inside the headphone socket.
Never had this issue and my phone was underwater quite a few times.

i've sent my phone back to the repair shop and will see if they fix this issue.

Microphone Issues

Hi, did anyone of you got this issue too?
http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-first/324460-htc-first-microphone-issues.html
The microphone hole ist stuffed so if you make a call the other person doesnt hear you.
There is a second micro which is activated if you turn on loudspeaker, maybe someone could get it to work in the normal mode.
Greetings
Hello. I have the same issue. The interlocutor does not hear me anymore. Did you find a fix for this?
Thanks.

This sounds similar to the problem I had, im not sure if it was moisture damage or if the headphone jack is damaged. Do headphones play sound okay? If so its probably doing what mine did where it doesnt detect the headphones being removed and thinks they are still plugged in. My problem sorted itself out, I just happened to be using a aux cable for a car stereo and after unplugging, the speakers magically started outputting again.

Having the same issue, it's the headphone jack. I temp fixed it by constantly plugging my headphones in and out but it comes back after a while

Ive found the headphone jack on a few websites which sell parts for our SP, would replacing the jack solve the issue do you think? The part is small and uses a clip in ribbon cable so I don't think it would be too difficult to do. Before my issue fixed itself, I was considering buying the jack and attempting to replace it, I just wasn't sure if that would actually fix the issue.
