Spots with flash - Galaxy Camera Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wife just got this today, and something we noticed is that in one room of the house, with the flash on, we get weird spots on the pictures.
Is it software/hardware/boogeyman?

my tilt turned white

i took it out of my pocket to see what time it was, and the phone is white, i reset it, hard reset it, flashed new rom, flashed new spl.. no luck.. everything is just white.. phones operation remains intact.. but i cannot see anything that is happening. there is probably a thread on here about it, but all i saw was about wrecked spl flashes.. what can i do?
A number of people (including myself) have experienced issues with the Tilt screen going to a permanently "washed out" white. Unfortunately, this appears to be a hardware defect, and the only thing you can do at this point is flash everything back to the original settings and exchange the phone (assuming it's still under warranty).
Brrrrrr. This sounds like the horrors with the hermes!!!! Plz. let this not be true, it is the reason why I am stuck with a Kaiser for 2 years now instead of with a Touch Pro/Vario IV at the end of this summer :-((
By the way shouldn't this post be moved to Kaiser General?
return it its coverd under warantee or even if is not they'll fix it its known issue
turned white you say? quick head down to the apple store. you can bump it for 350!
just remember to say "no im serious...its real...look...theres the 3g sign.
Just buy a new LCD....i believe the problem is in the flex cable going to the screen. Hardware problem's suck. But it's the only fix i know..or send it to one of those expensive fix places online.
Like when poop gets really old it turns white?
i had this happen before on an old tilt. it happened on hot days outside the screen would turn white. i couldnt figure it out, it prolly happened about 10 or 15 times this summer.
my fix...
mash down on the area around the lcd. most of the time it worked if i mashed down in the center of the little 1/4 inch thick strip of plastic btwn the bottom of the screen & the bottom buttons. if that doesnt work, try all around that strip. that worked prolly 90 or 95% of the time for me. a couple times it didnt work & i had to mash around the whole screen.
i know it doesnt sound kosher, but hey percussive maintenance always worked back in my vcr days.

Twitchy Compass

It appears that my compass is "twitchy". I can't think of a better word to describe it. Using any program that uses the onboard compass shows the same results. For example on GPS Status the compass is constantly moving back and forth by a few degress, when I do compass mode on Street View the same thing happens, the screen is constantly moving back and forth slightly.
I've gone out of my way to make sure that I'm not near anything metal and placed the phone on the ground, with the same results.
This is my third phone and all three have done the exact same thing. This all started after I got the OTA cupcake.
Right now I'm running Cyanogen's most recent experimental build.
Any thoughts?
I would wipe and reflash and see if it still doing it. If it does I would then go back to rc29 and see if its doing it. If it still is doing it then its prolly a hardware problem.

A hardware problem that shows up on the past 3 phones that I've had, the one phone my wife has and didn't show up until we both got cupcake updates?
My bad I overlooked the 3 phones thing. Well you can still try to go down to rc29 which won't be cupcake and see if its doing it.

No twitchyness on a precupcake build.
Talk about peculiar huh? Total of 4 phones that this is happening too.
Do you live in the Bermuda Triangle
I wish it were that simple.
I thought that maybe the software's filter might have been lowered when they did the update, so I've gone atleast 100 feet from anything metal or electronic and still have the same results.
Unless the filter is so low now that it's picking up interference from the phone itself? But then why are the phones that I come into contact with doing it and no one elses? I'll see if I check on one of my coworkers phones when I go in later today. See if his does it too.
I know this is a real stupid question but is your gps turned on. When I run a program that needs gps and its turned off it works but I guess you can say twitchy.
Just checked my coworkers phone and I got the same results. Also checked the mt3g that is on display and got the same results.
For gps status it requires the gps to be on, but for street view i've got the same results when gps is off as it is when on.
Maybe we just live in a very high iron ore area?
To clarify "twitchy" I mean that the compass (or display depending on the program used) is constantly moving back and forth by a few degrees. This is happening when the phone is placed on a flat level surface and not touched.
Thats strange.

idk if this is a fix. but to keep my compass healthy i shake my phone holding it upside, downside up and every way direction for like a minute and then go over my bed and spin/twist my phone in the air about 1 foot above the bed in almost every way possible . i was reading before that it will prevent the compas from getting stuck whenever near magnets.
but i just opened up my orienteer compass app and it is too going back and forth between 2 degrees..but then again its not too big of an issue.

GPS quit working and what was wrong....

Just thought I'd post this up. I am a big Wazer, so got in the car to take a trip, powered up Waze, but no GPS. Stuck it on the dash and it got signal, but as I'd pull it back towards me I'd lose signal again. Finally gave up. During lunch, started looking at the issue some more. Downloaded several GPS apps, and all would say something like 21 sats available, but zero in use. I wasn't sure if the GPS system was down perhaps, until my girlfriend fired up her iPhone. Even in a restaurant, she had full signal. Didn't find much on the web about the issue with the Nexus 5, so decided to wait until I got home to compare it with my old Nexus 4. Well, on the way back I got to looking at the phone and noticed the back cover had popped away about 0.05MM just above the volume up/down rocker. I snapped it back in place (which was easy) and immediately got full GPS satellite signal. So, that was the problem. Then I remembered dropping the phone in the bathroom earlier this morning. It fell about 18" onto hardwood flooring. It seemed fine at the time, but I didn't notice the separation in the back panel. Subsequent searching reveals that the GPS antenna is secured to the back maybe? Guess it didn't take much separation to significantly curtail getting a signal anyplace but outside in the open or through glass. Anyway, I am glad it wan't serious. Just thought I'd tell the story... CG

New Tablet arrive with screen problem.

I received a new Tablet from GeekBuying a few days ago.
at first when i tried to start it is showed no picture.
but the i noticed that if i move it around or touch it here and there it will show a fleeting picture.
sometimes the picture will stay for a few seconds and then when i move it it is gone, some weird blinking and screen noise.
I made a video of it still with the factory sticker on it's screen and contacted geekbuying customer's support.
They emailed me back and asked for the ID number of the tablet so they can give me a new firmware that will solve this problem.
I on my part told them that this not looks like a firmware problem because it behaves like something is loose or broken on the inside , and with movements get displaced and shows different screen picture or no picture.
since then 5 days passed and GeekBuying did not even bother getting back to me with answers.
here is the video that shows the problem:
does it sounds or looks like a firmware problem???
does this look like something fixable at home ?
Thanks

Toddler washed my P9 plus, I'm thrilled! Please HELP. My phone confuses me normally.

Hi all, hoping you can help! Sorry if it's too long, just trying to give all details I can.
My lovely toddler gave my phone a brief wash when I turned my back. When he handed it to me it wasn't too wet at all, looked more like a couple of drops on top, and I didn't realise what he had done then. Thinking there was only a couple of drops, and that it might have just been dead I plugged it in and tried to charge and turn on (obviously kicking myself now!!!). It initially came up with an orange light and vibrated when I tried to turn on, but wouldn't. And hasn't turned back on since. So I took the phone out of it's case and realised there was a bit more water round the back. It subsequently turned out there was water in the charging port itself and where your SIM/SD card goes. We are on a boat so have limited resources, but I dried it out with a cloth then went to hunt out some rice. Popped it in rice for a few hours, then realised I could open the back up so I did, only one drop in there which I wiped up. I read another blog which said that you get better results with drying out by fan. So dried it in front of the fan over night. It suggested silica, so got some of that this morning, in the form of damp rid, and have popped that in a container with my phone. Currently the phone seems dry to me, but I'm a little unsure what to do next. There's a few photos that weren't yet back up so I'm hoping I can find a solution somehow. Frankly, if I never get my phone to work but can take my photos and data off I would be rather happy with that. I was wondering if I perhaps short circuited it when I tried to turn on??
So, in short...
- Best ways to save water damage?
- Should I be taking a part the battery and mother board?
- Can you fix a short circuited phone?
- Can you buy new parts? Where?
- Can you get photos off your phone without it turning on?
- Can you put your motherboard in to another phone?
