It use the S810 DAC with latest Snapdragon Hexagon DSP, the Z5 Premium have the same, the amplifier is a TFA98XX (Sadly no S-Master HX)

Definitely is the Z5 DAC better than the Wolfson DAC
S-Master HX is an amplifier by Sony, it enchanting Hi-Res alot and it can upscaling Compressed files (like DSEE-HX)
can i ask please so does the sony z5 premium output 192/24bit without down sampling, in other words if i play 192/24bit will it be output as 192/24
can i ask how can one know that this dac is better than a wolfson dac,
over head-fi forum the people there trash the sound quality of the z5 premium comapred to lg v10

Yes it outputs 192kHz 24bit
And I know that Z5 DAC is better because first: DSEE-HX second: wolfson DAC can only output 96kHz 24bit third: the DSP is definitely better
And the LG V10 uses an higher DAC 384kHz 32bit but the CPU will be on full load if it play that, Sony Z5 would be keep cool and play that without any issues

wow, what a bold statement
My audio settings seems the same, cant see any new.. if i access desire player, and go to sound setting its the same. How come no new customization options are visible. 3.5.61 first, then 40.v.m.l
Does Project Desire work on MM?

I have a pretty limited knowledge on this but from what I have read if both uses the Snapdragon 600, then the sound quality (with headphones) would be the same? Or would there be any differences which makes one better than the other?
Soundchip... whatever...
HTC One = AMP + Stereo Speakers !
I think the word ur looking for is DAC [Digital to analogue converter]..Samsung uses WOLFSON [one of the best]..Dont know about HTC but it must be great from what i am seeing.
LOL I have a one x and the sound with an audio mod that allows 96khz resampling is the best audio that i have heard yet. It beats my friends galaxy s3

I dont own a sg3 so I dont know if they have the wolfson DAC, if not that would be the main reason why. What audio mod are you using, acid or beats audio or something else? My personal opinion along with my buddies when comparing my note 2 against their phones is that the note 2 blows away the competition as long as I have voodoo sound support. Nothing can compare to that audio mod, I will personally slap anyone that things the beats audio mod or the beats audio headphones are actually good

NA S4 vs One: The HTC One wins. They have the same DAC, but htc has an external Amp.
Int. S4 vs One: S4 probally wins, but no1 has tested yet. If it has a Wolfson DAC, S4 wins, but by a small margin I would assume.

Generally, Wolfson > Qualcomm > Tegra. HTC One has qualcomm but I am interested to see what they have done with their "beats" stuff hardware wise
Beats is a stupid software mod which increases the trebble and bass..there are no real sound improvements in it. Marketing gimmick.

HTC have made an effort to provide good sound hardware (eg the speakers) so I wouldn't be surprised if we see some improvement over the One X. A dev who went to the launch event in the US told me that the sound through headphones was very impressive compared to his DNA

Normally I would agree with you 100% but in this case I think you are wrong. Beats sucks, but the audio for the One has been completely redesigned in-house and the drivers are made by HTC specifically for the in-house chip and made to interface with Beats.
But don't take my word for it; if any one is farmiliar with Myriam Joire (a.k.a tnkgrl) of Engadget you know she's a programmer and has a background in Audio, she knows here stuff better than 99% of the people here. On the latest mobile podcast (linked below, around 35 mins in) she talks about how its the by far the best audio you will get on any mobile device, period. She mentioned it was a league ahead of the iPhone/iPod, but no other devices were even mentioned. I'm not an audio file, but when I hear one make very bold statements like that, its quite impressive.
I would say the One wins by a long shot.

Now i'm very disappointed of Xperia V sound for listening music because when i played with Walkman Player, sound are not stable. When i taste with Clear Bass +8 or +10, sound output is low volume with not stable. Sometime sound volume was increase level but sometime decrease with not stable for listening. Original Walkman Player 4.1.2 on Xperia V is very lousy with not look like My Old Xperia Neo. Why ???? When i used Sony Ericssion Xperia Neo, Everythings r very good & taste with Clear Bass +8db or +10db, sound
is very good taste for feeling. Now i changed Neo to Xperia V, very disappointed for listening for songs of music. And then cannot use Xperia Neo headphone on Xperia V.
How can i do Xperia Neo sound quality on Xperia V??? I don't like sound for listen my new Xperia V.

I have the V, too.
If you give so much bass to the sound, it is no wonder the system will try best to limit the volume for preventing damage to the tiny speaker, the headphone or your ears. Especially in conjunction with a cheap headphone that might be quite annoying, yep. If you like bass then buy headphones that deliver bass without the need for pumping it up artificially.
Thanks Bro! do u know how to stop limit volume for preventing damage to the tiny speaker?? i don't want to need limit the volume for clear bass.
It's depend on limit from system or headphone bro?? i like more my old xperia neo headphone but V is not support for Neo.
Thanks

Acid Audio: Good all-in-one-package. Very popular. But some say, it's a little unstable. (And I'm not quite sure if this one worked for me )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2177709
Viper Audio: Lots of settings, but more a convoler. Some say it sounds a little unnatural, others love it.
Btw I recommend xHiFi version, it's better imo. ^^
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
PureXAudio: Clearest sound of them all. Also has a great bass! Using this one myself.
Make sure to only flash the lite version, as the full one only supports Xperia Z!

It's the OEM earpiece, if you are using it.
How is the speaker audio-quality compared to something like HTC One devices?
Is the DAC & AMP somewhere near the quality of the HTC 10, LG V20 or Axon 7?
Regards Forsaked
I can only compare to the iPhone 6S.
The speaker of the P10 is a bit louder, but on the loudest setting it sounds a bit distorted or overdriven. When I set 2 steps down it sounds like the iPhone 6S in direct comparison. The loudest setting is good for ringtones and they sound really well, if you don't have songs like metal or trance as ringtone.
With headphones (Beyerdynamics DT-770) and some FLAC files I couldn't hear any differences.
Pocketnow made an audio review for the P10.
https://youtu.be/jBzEmOhfcSU
The loudness of headphone output is 1/3 of iphone 7, 40% quieter than Galaxy S7. Not very loud. Both Phonearena and GSMarena confirm this.
I can confirm that the sound in P10 is very nice in Bowers and Wilkins P5 jack.
If you run flacs and Hi-Res Audio its very nice. Blutooth in AAC is also nice.
The Sound in P10 is designed by Hardan Kardon and the DAC is made of Yamaha Commercial Audio
It is well enough loud, if you use the Huawei music app you must run DTS.
Its pros is rock, blues, vokal, acoustic, jazz, funk etc... The sound is egaging, dynamic, detailed and lively better than iphone 4S, and other mobiles ive tried. The phones strongest audio card is something called SEPARATION, between instruments, that is simply outstanding. You hear details of what drum it is, clear vokal, and all the instruments is well placed in a room.
Classical sounds nice, but is not its strongest card, it could have more clarity and focused details..
If your are a Beats head, that damage your ears with hiphop, Skrillex and tekno at high volume, maybe your not satisfyed.
I cranked House of Pain Jump around in Poweramp, and that sounded nice.
HTC 10 should on the papers have better audio sound tho.
But I want to know if the Huawei P10 is ready with drivers to connect a Dac via USB for example Dragonfly.
I ask this because alot of other people wants to know the same.
Works with ESS chipset in the B&O modular for the LG G5.
I prefer to disable DTS. Nice sound but the volume is a little lover than Htc
I just want to give my opinion on this:
I have both the Axon 7 and the P10 Plus and I must say that output is better in the P10 Plus, and I don't understand why.
I don't know what kind of sorcery does DTS mode, but it pumps the sound in a really nice way.
When you disable DTS, Axon 7 sounds better in HiFi res.
Probably is because there is no way to use the AKM DAC on the Axon 7 with a proper equalization, so even when the sound is good, it can't be used along the Dolby Atmos feature. Dolby Atmos only kicks in when using the speakers, or if you want to use it with headphones, it will automatically change to Snapdragon DAC. So far there is no way to use Atmos and the AKM dac together.
I'm using Sony XBA-H1 which I find pretty decent earbuds to test this.
:good:
Its Confirmed by Huawei that P10 use the latest Hi6403 soundchip (typical with Kirin960) that supports Hi-Rez
Its rumoured that Harman Kardon, and Yamaha Commercial Audio group has worked on the sound in P10
It's just to bad that the amplifier is to weak. It makes the volume lower than the competitors.

I don't know, but this P10 Plus sounds better than my Axon 7, and is supposed that Axon 7 is the best audio phone.
Activating DTS make everything more punchier and richier.
The Audio quality is great. But the low volume might be because of some EU regulations.

Problem is that we don't have a way to equalize the output using the high quality dog, because as long as we turn on Dolby Atmos, it changes to Qualcomm one.
Is a pity we don't have a stock or default equalizer besides Dolby Atmos, because is useless if we want the best quality out of the headphone jack.

Using stock music player with my Trinity Master IEM (2BA drivers, 1 dynamic) and it has the best sound output so far among my existing devices (xiaomi mi3, nexus 5, oppo f1s). The sound is crisp and full. With DTS, everything sounds louder but more artificial.
Does Nokia 7 Plus support Hi-Res Audio output?
Use poweramp alpha version for hi res output.
LDAC support already shown for the sony wi-h700 on android p dev beta
I am using poweramp alpha version 705 and the output via jack is 24bit 384Khz.

I have now bought a N7+ myself and I can comment more thoroughly on this.
I was intrigued by the above comment as to my knowledge, sample rates beyond 192khz are reserved for the flagship snapdragon 835 and 845 processors.
I went into a shop and downloaded some 352.8khz samples for 2l.no and to my surprise, not only did they work in google play music, but it sounded great.
Using USB Audio Player plus, I can see that the 352.8khz audio is being downsampled to 192khz for playback by android, I have no idea how the downsampling is done and I would rather it have been downsampled to an exact multiple, but nonetheless at those sample rates, it still sounds great. If you're an audiophille, you'll have an external dac anyway, it's just convenient to be able to play it back.
Dsd dsf files also playback in google play music, and in usb audio player pro, when output to the Android system, they are being output as 24bit 176.4khz.
I accept this as this content is extremely rare, and flagship grade, you're not going to get everything in a midrange phone.
I'll post screenshots and elaborate more on this later.
What I will say is that the headphone output and amp on the N7+ is solid and very decent, it's not as good as the LG Quad Dac on the g7/v30 but it more than does the job for listening to music even on some over ear headphones. It just makes the removal of the headphone jack on many flagship and Apple phones infuriating when you can get hi res audio this easily!

I totally agree with you, The headphone output is so much better in N7+ compared to similar priced devices in market.
I also own an OP2, OP3, OP3t and LgV20 and among all of these LG is on top followed by N7+ which is saying something about this device.

Dolby is an inferior music encoding algorithm.
Ok for movies and games, most times.
I use Poweramp and wav/HDCD files.
Poweramp has one of the best or best graphic equalizer for Android.
When listening to music Dolby is always kept disabled... feel the wuv.
On a high end system I use it only for Dolby encoded movies.
