Hey all,
So I've been eyeing on getting the LG G4 for a while now via Swappa (the T-Mobile version). I was going to buy it until someone commented about manufacture date on the LG G4 because there's a serious issues with the phone's motherboard that causes a bootloop. I search all about on Google and personally don't feel comfortable in buying it if that's that case...
... however, I'm willing to still go for it if you can all possibly chip in your thoughts about this issues? Google states it's a "small" bad batch and Sprint has recalled all their LG G4s but how "small" batch is it? How are your chances in getting the dreaded infinite bootloop the batch made before Sept 2015?
I hope to get a good amount of input on this, thanks in advance.
i bought my phone in june 20th or somewhere around there from tmobile and ive rooted and done alot of stuff on my phone and i havent run into a bootloop, but maybe im just lucky
This was probably a bad choice in thread type :x if mods can delete this, that'll be great.

I saw a SGT that is hanging at the bootlogo on ebay.
it's ending tomorrow, so any answers till then would be appreciated.
I hope I understood it correctly from what the seller wrote.
Is this easy to fix and how?
Im hoping to save some €uros, would it be a good idea if I can get it cheaper?
edit:
one more question. is there a clockworkmod bootable sdcard for the tab or what do I have to do to flash a new rom?
Mate, there are a lot of reasons the tab isn't booting. You may not be able to recover this.
I personally wouldn't buy a tab thats not booting, there could be a hardware problem and then those euros you spent have just been thrown away as you can't return the tab. You were fully aware there was a problem before you bought it....
Good idea is to visit other countries ebay, you may get a tab for cheap though do make sure it is compatible with your networks and the seller is happy to sell overseas...
seller writes it was like that when he got it?
is this possible at all?
or must he have done something to it, like flashing a rom and doing something wrong so that he cant recover it.

Well, if you buy it from him like that you would then be able to claim it was like that when you got it. It could be anything, as stated before, and I wouldn't touch it unless it was super cheap and I could use it for parts. Mine was brand new and after having it for almost a month it had to go in for repair (covered under warranty, but still a pain). Since you will likely not be covered under warranty, I just wouldn't bother.
he is sending the original slip with the device.
someone bought it for 301€, quite a lot.
So, my flex fell ill, and it was time to get a replacement through at&t's warranty department. They ended up sending a refurbished phone, but considering its the flex, I can assume what was wrong with the refurb device in the first place. The new model has crippling retention, my last model had the slightest bit from the navbar. Just a white bit being on the screen can cause minimum 5 seconds of retention. I don't want them to send me another phone that was apparently "fixed". What should I do, because Im sure most of them were returned for bad screens, meaning that if I call again, before my old phone even makes it back to them, then I'll have to wait yet another 2 weeks for another bad screen.

You could go through lg or even through Insurance, but they will all do the same thing ATT does, Replace it with a certified like new device.
No one will give you a brand new device.
Know of any way to find out the previous issues a refurb device has had?

Thanks anyways! I found a warranty place near me where I can try the phones first!
hi guys, so im on my 3rd or fourth LG G4 and its going out. i have backed up all my data i want just in case. i have 2 options before this goes and need some guidance .
option 1. wait for it to completely dies and have to go to geek squad to wait 2-3 more days for a new phone and cross my fingers there is no "service fee" (since my replacement was older than exchange the warranty is no longer unless "I" deal with LG)
option 2. buy this used G4 for 20 bucks that has just a cracked screen, if i go that route i would like to change or get changed the IMEI and related data (i ask what would that be, related data)so i can avoid a activation fee of the the new G4.
i think im getting screwed (replacement phone warranty is expired even though i have had it 6 months) thats why i ask about getting the number changed to dying phone so there is no activation fee, that would work correct? is there any repercussions to this?
is this something i personally can do without root? i can go to the phone shop and get it done but i like to learn new things, any pointers or legit tut's? see a lot thru google but seem all shady.
thanX in advance

Mine is not purchase from eBay
If it is brand new in box you should be good? I'd message reseller and ask just in case and ask him if it is sealed and specifications are all the same
Where is it coming from?
The only problem I see is you open the box, and find out it is a clone.
You could always put a claim return to it. Reseller might argue it was sealed but your point is valid
If it is coming from China I wouldn't bother
Bought a lg g2 once. Seller did not claim it was bnib. When I got it you could see the extra glue that screen was replaced
Try local
Nope it's coming from new york not china luckily...idk though now I've been reading about this boot loop problem the g4 has...I'm wondering if I should just stick with what I have...I use my phone everyday for work and really don't want to risk an issue...not sure what to do really :/

Ask him for first few numbers of the serial number
Post back
A lot of the issues are with the 505 phones. Some have never had a problem even then
If it is a 505 you are taking a risk
Ideally you want 7 series number if you are taking it with no warranty
First 3 numbers year month
505 is 2015 may
708 would be 2017 august
I know no one is going to be selling there phone with a serial number listed..... But atleast you know your getting a 7 you are getting the newer motherboards
No one has exact info on which are known to bootloop. You might get lucky with a 505, or you might end up pissed off
The newer the motherboard/serial number less risk
Hi all...I'm sorry if something like this has been posted before...if so please link me to it and delete this.
I have the g4s little brother, the LG g stylo (metropcs), and I was thinking about a slight upgrade. I found a bnib tmobile g4 on eBay (located in usa not china)
My current phone is stock rooted 6.0 with xposed and I have everything set just how I like it...I also use my phone everyday for work so it's very important that it works flawlessly.
I've been reading about boot loop issues with the g4 and that worries me...I'm also worried about this whole thing I've recently come to find out about xposed not working on nougat? But I suppose I could just stay on a mm based Rom? I'm also trying to learn about magisk as I didn't even know what that was because I really haven't tinkered with this phone in quite a while.
Anyway I'm wondering if anyone here has any good advice/knowledge to share with me...any links that could provide good reading material would be appreciated to catch me up to speed...or if maybe you can suggest another phone to upgrade to? The g4 I found was $140...but I'd probably spend up to 250ish? The g4 is just sounding like a good little upgrade for less than what I paid for my stylo new...plus I'd still get to use g4 tweaksbox...If you've read all of this I appreciate your time thanks.

depends on 2 things... 1 if its really a h811 ive seen many and inside motherboard is another variant..
2. its not guarantee but as long as you get a phone made from 2016 onward the better. doesnt mean it could not bootloop but chances are slim. i have 1 from jan 2016 anyhting above that manufacturing date . less chance to bootloop also LG has extended warranty to 2 years from manufacture warranty so they say.

Would it be ok for me to post a link to it on eBay so I could get an opinion on whether it's real or not? Not sure if that's allowed or not :\

well the only way i guess is to ask the seller for manufacturing date. tell them some units are defective and you want to look for the phone with newest manufacturing date. cause if you get one and its from 2015 are very likely to bootloop.
This isn't coming from New York
Read it fully
Coming from hong Kong or china
Likely a refurb
