Anyone else experience overheating?? I can't play a game or watch videos for longer than maybe 15 to 20 mins before the VR kicks me off saying I need to let the cell cool down....
Same here. First time when i use it take about 20 min to get overheating message on the next day i menage to get 1hr without a problem i guess all depends what you play with. But its quite annoying. I use S6edge

Hi!
The touch calibration on my XZ (10.3.1.A.0.244) is way off, or the touchscreen itself has problems detecting inputs correctly.
For example, it often doesn't detect my lockscreen pattern correctly. Also, using the Swype keyboard, I can see that the swipe lines it detects are very wiggly/zig-zaggy and it therefor often doesn't recognize the words correctly.
Is there a way to calibrate the touch layer of the screen (It's not rooted at the moment)?
Or should I send it in for repair? I've had it for less than 6 months, so according to EU laws it's still under full warranty (I don't want to send it in, though - heard to many horror stories...).
Any advice appreciated!
cheers,
Dr.
Xperia doesn't have touch calibration... You must dropped it. Screen can't stop working just like that. You crashed something inside the phone.

It was like that from day 1, just thought it was normal. I never dropped it, and it looks like new from the outside. The touch resolution is very low (=bad) on the XZ compared to the phone I had before (Sony clearly cheapskated on the touch layer, you can even see how far apart the touch sensors are in certain light conditions).
And it didn't stop working or something - but if I swipe a straight line on the Swype keyboard, the line it draws is zig-zag, because the touch module is either faulty or just of bad quality (I suspect the latter, unfortunately).
Every touchscreen can be calibrated, but it depends if the manufacturer wants us to "mess" with the factory state or not. I found some calibration software for older Xperias, but not for XZ, hence the question here.
I know I'm very picky about details like that (it's not like the phone isn't usable) but the phone I had before spoiled me, because it was so close to perfection, and the XZ just doesn't feel premium to me (except the price).
So, any advice or am I going to have to send it in?
I live in Norway, and I rarely let my phone get warmer than ~35 degrees, and since I rarely watch clips longer than 5 min on it, and rarely record videos longer than a min or two, this isn't a problem (Norway's cold weather also helps I suspect).
This summer, however, I will be in Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia etc), and I'm a little worried about what the heat there will do to my phone, especially as I haven't had any issues with glass raising etc. Any experiences?
Don't worry, Z have a temp sensor and if it gets too hot the system will lower the cpu clocks and turn off some cpu cores to avoid overheating .

If it is 35 degree Celsius then you phone is so cool. My one goes 55-56 degree if I play temple run for 10 minutes. 35 is very low.

mine gets about 70 degrees everytime.
but it doesn't matter because of the thermald shutting the device down if its too hot.

Thank you all for your replies. Those temperatures you guys are mentioning seems insane! Aren't your hands burned?
The main reason I asked is because I'm a bit worried about the whole back panel lifting issue.
Don't worry about that. Sony created the service "Battery warning".
If phone exceed the limit tempurature, it will show the warning message and control (stop) some services.
yep main get hoooot too -when i play on gta san andreas get so hot that even in the hard cover it is uncomfortable to hold it (Now I play that game on my ps3 controller with HDMI connected :angel

This good point. But lets say the Z dont have this sensor. So the phone will turn into fire ball?

Then I must say your unit got a real cool mind , well your unit produce reasonable heat which is very good. But for S4 Pro CPU, 55-56 degree is not the temperature to worry about. Even my Optimus G also heats same as my Xperia Z and both phone uses exactly same hardware. So far I know, above 75 degree is a red alert for this types of CPU though they will shut down before reaching that temperature. Still I am jealous of your phone because if your one stays cool that mean you have a better battery backup.

But don,t forget the rom also plays a important role for some problems that people think its hardware problem. Try to change you rom. Maybe there is alot app are running without you know so that overheat you phone
Mine is getting normally something around ~60 degrees Celsius (CPU temperature) when using it normally, but when the system boots it reaches even 71, so don't worry, it won't burn or explode hehe. And as it was already mentioned it has an overheat protection

We can always put it in some cold water, to avoid overheating
Good Morning.
Can you tell me if the rom of Z1 is compatible for Z1S and if you can run the root?
Thanks for the reply.
The Z1S is basicly Z1 for T-Mobile since they suck and must have their own version... there is some differences on the software side but the hardware should be the same... best way to test it is to try, not to ask !
if you decide to try it out, i would be interested about results !
Do not try Z1C because thats the compact model and the hardware and software is much different...
Z1compact has the same hardware as z1 only screen is different. Camera processor etc are the same. On z1c development section there is a way to install any rom from z1.

Z1 roms don't run on Z1s. I mean they boot but they're unusable.
Somewhere I read that I can unlock/lock bootloader only 8 times. Is it the true?

Not that I've ever seen but why are you doing this to begin with?
Why would you ever lock it once unlocked?
Don't do drugs. They melt your brain.
you can lock/unlock it exactly 103.28 times(just kidding, theres no limit)

Does yours lock the phone to only o2 sims? Mine came unlocked but a mate was locked
I’m on three and it works fine. I asked them before ordering and they said it would be unlocked.

A few days in and I am starting to regret my impulse buy! Starting to realise how buggy and rough around the edges this thing is. Pointless AOD, broken gestures, broken app switcher (with 3rd party launchers) no Bluetooth volume sync, terrible lock screen notifications. Also keep finding other little bugs e.g. yesterday I thought I had shared a photo via whatsapp but it did not send and I had to open WhatsApp and attach it that way. Overall it adds up to what I think is a clunky experience. YMMV
The plus side vs. say the Note and 3XL is the size is great and IMO is almost the perfect compromise between the S9 that is too small and Note 9 or Pixel that are a little cumbersome and can be a burden. It also feels terrific in the hand and the Twilight looks great! Battery life is top class as is the camera.
I’m on the fence though as to whether to keep it as the Note and Pixel just offer a far more polished experience and I am not confident that Huawei will fix it, they just seem focussed on the hardware so likely more interested in getting the P30 out the door than improving EMUI.
