I recently got my Gear 1 and directly started installing TWRP and Null_23, which went without problems.
I only have a weird, but mostly annoying problem which I can't figure out :
I have 2 smartphones : 1 Galaxy S4 (private phone) and 1 Galaxy S3 (business phone).
On both I've installed Gear Manager and I can connect without problems (both are same versions by the way : 1.7.052101).
I can switch perfectly between the phones, to receive eighter notifications from my private phone or from my business phone.
However when I connect to my private phone, the time is set to 12 hour format which I can manually change to 24 hour format.
When I connect to my business phone, the time is directly set to 24 hour format.
Connecting back to my private phone will set the time back on Gear 1 to 12 hour format.
Ofcourse I've checked time and timezone settings on both my phones, so I'm clueless now.
Does anyone know where the Gear 1 gets its time settings from ?
Or know a solution ?
Ok, where do I start?
My last phone was a Galaxy IIIs. Rooted it and installed "The Peoples Rom". Had very few problems with it and used it like that for 4+ years.
So finally I get a new phone, Note 4, Rooted it and have kept it stock. I have had so many problems with this phone. Its just HORRIBLE. I dont know if its the stock rom that sucks, or the phone. I used Apex launcher pro, maybe its that. IDK.
When I bought this note, I bought 2 others, one for my son and one for my daughter. have left them alone, no mods. They dont seem to have the problems I do either. My WiFi keeps disconnecting and reconnecting, which really pisses me off because I constantly use the phone to control my chromecast. I will be watching something, doesnt matter if its Youtube, Netflix, Videostream, whatever, when I grab my phone again to click "play next episode" or whatever reason, the wifi has disconnected and reconnected but it screws up my chromecast connection and I have to try to reconnect to it, which usually screws up the queue, or play next episode, just whatever the hell it is, I have to force close, reconnect, and go through so much BS its ridiculous. It will also just turn off by itself and I have to turn it back on, even though I have it set to NEVER turn off, sleeping or whatever.. Uhg. When it turns off, its usually in the morning when I first grab it, I notice its off, and have to toggle it on. And sometimes I notice it has turned off when I get home from running around town.
I have data turned off. I dont use cell data AT ALL, ever. I also have WiFi settings set to never sleep, choose best signal unchecked, etc.. I have 2 routers in my house, one at each end. Doesnt matter what router I am connected to or what channel, security, and so on, the phone acts the same. keeps disconnecting and immediately reconnecting. I have also set it up for Static IP, which didnt change anything either. I have it set to connect to just ONE router and have had it "forget" all others.
Yes, I searched google and have tried all of the tips that were relevant.. I even tried Tasker to see if there was some way to force WiFi to stay connected. It's NOT a matter of signal strength, I get full bars and only 1 bar missing when I am outside. So I dont think its a problem with my antanna. I dont know what to do now. Maybe try a new ROM? Throw it against the wall? Seems like my device is defective becuase the kids say they dont have any problems with the wifi, but they dont use it as much or in the means that I do. And trying to get your teenage kid to hand over their phone so you can test it for a while, is like, well you know. lol
I know this is more of a rant than anything else but if someone has any ideas please let me know.
List of what I have done so far.
Rooted the phone with N910T3UVU1DOK2 Stock Rooted Odex / DeOdex for N910T3. I chose Odex. I used the phone for several months like this.
Then I had a problem with T-Mobile blocking my phone (bought on ebay). I contacted the seller asking him WTF and they sell so many phones that he couldnt find my information so he sent me to an EMEI place that he paid for. The EMEI website says its supposed to take about 10-15 minutes. But SEVERAL hours later and 3 different stock ROM installs later, they finally got my EMEI changed. So now I am on N910T3UVUIDOG1. Then the EMEI guy rooted it with CF root or something...
Doesnt matter which of the stock roms I have used, I have the wifi problem. Like I said, I dont think its my antanna because when I am connected, I have a really good connection, well, I think its good. Its the same as I get with a cat5 cable on my pc. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/2032861983
Anyway, Help me? or Flame me? lol

Well there are no WiFi issues with the Note 4 at all.
However there are several things to comment on with what you wrote.
For one the first and most obvious is the fact that you bought it on eBay. Was it used? Doesn't really matter because crooked eBay sellers often sell things as NEW even when they are not.
So who knows the history of the phone, that leaves a huge variable in the mix.
Judging by the fact that the IMEI was blacklisted its either stolen or in the best case scenario it was a phone bought with EIP, sold, and then not paid on.
Again questionable history.
So I'm guessing its a damaged or defective phone. Unfortunately because the first IMEI has beek black listed and the 2nd one is not for that phone you cannot use anything like PHP insurance. You might (big might) be able to get a warranty support through Samsung but I'm guessing you would have to change the IMEI back as they are not going to honor any device with a different IMEI. That's also a huge might because you also need proof of purchase etc.
Big lessons learned here. For one this is the risk now a days from buying on eBay or Craigslist type places.
Also these issues definitely do not represent the device etc. So far the Note 4 has been one of the best Sammy devices ever.
I would find out why its black listed. If you bought it less then 3 - 6 months you might be able to file a claim with your bank as its possibly fraud type situation (stolen phone).
I truly hope there is a happy ending for you some how.
Good luck!
I have bought 2 note 4s and they act exactly like you describe. Cannot stay connected to my Google fiber. My nexus 5 always stayed connected with no issues. My wife's moto x? Acts just like the note 4s losing connection all the time.

Strange. My wife also has one too and we both have no problems on 300 Mbit cable.
Also we have at least 2 or 3 exchanges over the past 2 years so that is a total of 5 Note 4(s) with no Wifi issues.
Perhaps both of your issues are unrelated but have similar symptoms.
Just a thought but to those having problems do you have Smart Network Switch enabled in WiFi settings? I was trying to connect my Chromecast a few days ago and my wifi kept cutting out. It would happen everytime I tried to "set up" the Chromecast on my TV. Once I turned the Smart Network Switch off I had no problems.

I've never actually turned it on. Have used the note on 4.4.4 (stock and firekat), 5.0.1 briefly, 5.1.1 (stock and poprocks), cm12.1, and now 6.0.1. Always rooted, sometimes with xposed.
Wife's moto x has always been stock and still the same issues.

Well in your case if this is happening with devices of different brands perhaps its some issue or settings with your access point / router.
after upgrading my old phone (4.4.2) to my Galaxy S7 (marshmallow) my tasker cant switch mobile data to off.
i have an profile that switches off my mobile data and my wifi at night. In the morning its back on so i dont wake up by stupid mails and whatsapp.
But now on marshmallow that isnt possible anymore.
Anyone got on tip how to make it work?
Only with ROOT.
to bad, i wanted to keep this phone original as you lose warrenty when rooting Samsung.
perhaps the block mode can work for me so i , especially my girlfriend , doesnt get wakes by the phone at night.
Tasker can switch do not disturb for you. It can stop all sound, alarm only, or customize what apps or contacts will ring thru.
The only way to do it without root is to use AutoInput. It would however require the screen to be on and it all around kind of clunky. But it's your best option if you don't want to root.
Thanks!
I will try the do not distub me methode. if thats not working great then i will try Autoimput.
But maybe i just go on and root my S7.
You Can use an Apple Watch Series 3 (probably a Series 2 and earlier models as well) standalone with a Note 8 (S8/S8+ and maybe any Android Device?)!
[ Thanks to @spinedoc on Android Central for this idea!]
**Please, no flaming! I live in both Android and Apple World (as many do). Been loving Android off and on for years. Bored with iOS/iPhone for a couple years now. I do have a Gear S2 (and I wear that too, total geek, I know...) but I have yet to find a decent <= 40mm Android Capable SmartWatch. They are just too large on my wrist and Apple Watch 38mm is perfect so I bought a new Series 3. Apple Watch is behind in tech to me compared to some Android Watches but AW is very slick and really nice looking to me. Some people cannot afford both an Android Wear watch and an Apple Watch even though I believe Android Wear works on iPhone. I kept my iPhone to work on theming as it was jailbroken but isn't any longer due to upgrading to iOS 11. Also I help a lot of friends and family with their iPhone setups and problems so it's good for me to have an iPhone on hand as I follow along when helping them.
Of course not all of the features of the Apple Watch will work but many will! I haven't tried out all of them yet. Phone calls won't work.
You MUST Own an iPhone [for Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) or earlier models of Apple Watch, you need an iPhone 5s or later with probably the latest iOS] in addition to your Android device and have Hotspot functionality on your cellular plan.
Here are the steps that I used (it is NOT necessary to initially have a SIM in your iPhone when setting up. I am using a Series 3 GPS Only Apple Watch with an older iPhone 6+ on iOS 11).
1) Turn on the Hotspot on your Android device (I'm using a Note 8).
2) Connect your iPhone’s wifi to the Android phone's Hotspot.
3) Your Apple Watch will access the internet using the wifi hotspot connection on your iPhone.
4) Now that you have “established” an authorized/known (can’t think of the word Apple uses) wifi connection you can leave the iPhone at home and either leave the hotspot running or turn it on when you need updates to certain apps on your watch!
5) Go into messages on your iPhone (especially when the SIM is NOT in it) and be sure you have an email address that is checked off to use with iMessage. I used iMessage seamlessly - with voice text entry…too small to type (of course there is no trail of the SMSs on your Android phone).
My weather updates, my mail comes in and I can respond. Haven’t tried anything else except Siri who told me the time but couldn’t answer a couple of questions about Apple Watch (just referred me to open the web on the iPhone). Remember that the functionality available on an Apple Watch is dependent upon what exists on your iPhone, not what's on your Android device.
Surprisingly, I didn't get much of a hit on the battery either in my Note 8 or on the Apple Watch when I left the Hotspot on. Not sure how much data was used but I get a 10GB/month hotspot on my AT&T plan so doubt I'll eat that up before the next bill comes out.
If you have an LTE version Apple Watch on AT&T then using NumberSync might not be that good of an idea. Check out this article on Android Central:

FYI this worked for me with a series 2, than means no cellular connection, I'll bet it works better with a series 3. Battery draw was higher on both the AW and the Note 8 (hotspot continuously on), but I still made it through a full day. Most of my stuff is on Google Voice, so all that worked perfectly and I got notifications on the AW and was able to respond. All the apps I tried which involved the phone seemed to work fine, for example the Ecobee app on the AW worked fine to adjust my Tstat at home. Apple pay worked perfectly as well. Siri didn't work when I tested, it said couldn't find my iPhone. iMessages can be tricky as mentioned above. The only thing that truly didn't work at all was making and receiving phone calls.

Thanks again @spinedoc for your initial information on that NumberSync article on Android Central. I posted this guide on the ATT forum and someone stated that even trying this was a hot mess! No way! Once you set it up that's it. It works really well with the series 3. You used ecobee, it works with liftmaster too.
I love the watch but I love my Note 8! So I do want to live in Both worlds.
If Android Wear comes out with a smaller watch I'll end up buying that too. Lol!

Say u turn your hotspot on , tether the iPhone to note 8 , leave the house but your iPhone loses connection to your note 8 because your out of range so it hooks onto your home router. Now you won’t get messages?? Think that’s the problem I had. It Did work when I left the iPhone in the vehicle, lost tethering so iPhone went to cellular data. Can anyone confirm?

I had my iPhone (no SIM in it) tethered to my Note 8 hotspot. At the same time the Apple Watch is automatically connected to the iPhone (which is still using the hotspot for internet connectivity).
Once the Apple Watch was connected it "established " a know WiFi connection so you can actually shut the iPhone down and the Apple Watch will connect to your Note 8 (or any previously connected hotspot which your iPhone was connected to).
So when I leave my house and my Apple Watch is out of range even with my home WiFi (you'll know when your watch has no connection as it will display a tiny red phone or something like that, at the top of the screen) I turn on my Hotspot right in the notification shade (which also turns off your N8 normal WiFi connection) and the Apple Watch connects automatically. That "not connected" icon disappears.
Now you will not receive any cell-related content. You'll get text messages Only from those using iMessage (but you can respond on your AW, I use voice dictation, so easy) your Note 8 texts will not appear on AW. You'll get email updates (if the email accounts existed on your iPhone), you'll get weather updates and can use wifi-connected light bulbs and garage doors etc. if they were all originally set up on your iPhone and if there is a corresponding AW app. Still lots of functionality!
I'm such a geeky goober that I have an Apple Watch on one wrist and a Gear S2 LTE on the other! Like jewelry to me.

I forgot to mention that this is the GPS Only Apple Watch.
Also, @vincey, are you trying to just tether your iPhone to your N8 hotspot (& not use an AW at all)?

Series 1
I tried it with my Series 1 Apple watch and I am not receiving messages.
Thanks for the great info everyone,
Have anyone had the chance to check the method with the series 4 ?
In terms of battery, will the watch last for a day using the hotspot ? Have anyone tried checking WhatsApp notifications ?
my son wants apple watch he does not have phone yet. he does have ipad. if i find an old beater iphone5 to set up the apple watch, he could do similar as you with note?
the apple watch would record exercise, would that sync back to apple health on wifi? i don’t see apple health app for ipad though.
could he use ipad to copy music to apple watch?
can he install games from ipad to watch?
plan b is fitbit versa
Is this still working? How long does your Apple Watch Series 3 last before it needs to be charged again when doing this?
I'm assuming WhatsApp messages sent to the iPhone will be received on the watch?

An Apple Watch can only be directly paired with an iPhone, not an iPad, and if it has watchOS 4 or later, then it can't be paired to an iPhone 5 or 5C, because they won't run anything newer than iOS 10, but as long as the watch has watchOS 3 or earlier, you can still pair it to a 5 or 5C. Otherwise, just get a 5S. If it's a cellular iPad and there's a SIM card in it, then he can do what the OP did with his Note 8, but he won't be able to sync or install anything on the watch using the iPad. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure a Fitbit can be paired to any phone, tablet or computer
Hi guys, I recently switched from a samsung s8 to a Pixel 7 and I wanted to be able to carry some "automations" with me with an NFC Tag.
The automatism is simple: I return home -> the wifi is activated and the ringtone becomes silent. I leave the house -> the wifi is deactivated and the ringtone returns to normal.
With the S8 I've never had any problems.. with the Pixel, when I get home, the ringtone goes silent, but Do Not Disturb is also activated. And there is no way to separate Quiet from Do Not Disturb! Both activate.
I tried with two different programs to modify the nfc tags: a very old version of "Trigger" and the most recent "NFC Tools". But both give the same result: if you activate Silent, you also activate Do Not Disturb! Obviously if I change the ringing mode by hand this doesn't happen.
Advice?! Has anyone encountered this problem?

Before "Trigger" and "NFC Tools", what app were you using?
If anything, I suggest you use -- if you were not using originally anyway -- MacroDroid. It seems to be capable of achieving what your goal is, although I wasn't able to get the NFC tool to set up myself (but that might just be my phone). Although I'm unsure if you really need to use NFC protocol to achieve this versus using geolocation/GPS; you could probably achieve the same thing with a gps trigger...And i'm sure there are other clever ways you can achieve the same goal using the very diverse program.
Worse comes to worst, you could possibly use Tasker -- although that app hasn't really been in active development in a while, I've seen around the forum that people still use it so at the very least it still functioning...
I used to use Trigger... but once it was set up I never used it again (except in the background). But that was 4 years ago.
I think I will try to use MacroDroid. I already use it to enable/disable rotation only on some programs.
Any advice on any modules?
