Hi all!
Early this year I transformed XT1097 RT Brasil into XT1095 because this one received Android 5.1 before and because I thought that the XT1095 being the Pure version for US was the one that would receive the updates before anybody else.
Well......I was totally wrong. XT1095 hasn't even received the soak 6.0 yet and the XT1097 from Brasil and Mexico, and the Europeans already are enjoying Marshmallow.
So what I want to do is to go back to the 5.1 XT1097 RT Brasil. Searching the web I came with this very easy tutorial but I'm not sure if I will brick my phone since I'm quiet a noob. Please can you let me know if I can do this tutorial safely?: http://motox-brasil.blogspot.cl/2015/06/firmware-motox2-xt1097-firmware-retail.html
Thanks so much in advance.
Cheers!

Thanks. The problem I have is that in Win 10 adb doesn't work. But RSD Lite it does. I can flash the 6.0 with RSD? I don't have risk of hard brick doing this right?

I'm on Win 10 x64; you should install the usb drivers from Motorola so that they show up in Windows Device Manager under "Android Device" at the top (Motorola ADB Interface). My phone does show as connected in Bootloader Mode.
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481
I have no experience with RSD Lite, so I can't say. Usually bricking happens when you try to downgrade gpt.bin and motoboot.img, or try to flash an incompatible firmware, which is not the case here.
I hope someone else with RSD Lite experience can better help.

OK thanks a lot. I will then give it a try. I suppose that there shouldn't be any issue then. Because I will go from 5.1 to 6.0.
OK I used RSD Lite and flash the 6.0 RETBR in my XT1095 and worked perfectly!!! I transformed the XT1095 into XT1097 and have 6.0!!!!! No problem with the modems

Excellent! Keep the firmware file, don't delete, in case you may need it later on, if you try other things with your phone.

Read more carefully, he has the xt1097 from Brazil. The xt1097 from at&t can't be unlocked nor rooted. However the xt1097 from Canada, Chile, Brazil, Peru, etc can all be unlocked and rooted.
It is ONLY the AT&T in the USA which is locked and can't be unlocked.

Correct. I have the XT1097 from Chile (originally) not Brasil I transformed first to XT1097 RETBR to get 5.0, then the XT1095 got if first, so I transformed it to XT1095. And now with 6.0 since the Pure is not even in soak yet I transformed it to XT1097 RETBR again

Dear all!
I converted my European XT1092 to the American XT1095 Pure Edition to flash Lollipop.
Now the European ROMs are rolling out - and I would like to go back to the original model number to receive future ota updates in my country. Unfortunately flashing back KitKat for the XT1092 didn´t work...(nor did the European Lollipop firmware)
Does anyone know how I can convert my Moto X 2014 back to its initial state when I bought it? From XT1092 to XT1095 and now back again to XT1092?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: Found the problem and solved it!

Just use the mfastboot commands from this post but use a uk firmware image.. Flash them one by one and all should be fine
Hey any ideas how i can go about installing that? Ive tried to use Multi tool to get stock but now it says my phone is xt1095 but it was originally xt1092 :/ ive tried to find the uk stock firmware but no luck.
It's a factory image you can flash it over anything you currently have running. Open the Multi tool folder and you will see some called 'msfastboot' Make a new folder on your desktop and place that in there, then download the factory image I gave you the link for and extract it into the same folder you placed the msfastboot into. Then, whilst in that folder hold the shift key on your keyboard and then right click on your mouse and select 'open a command window here' Then put your phone in fastboot by turning it off and holding the power and volume down keys at the same time. Then, in the terminal you opened earlier type these commands one at a time:
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin (REMOVES YOUR CUSTOM BOOTLOGO (Not neccessary))
mfastboot flash boot boot.img

can t boot to recovery
please some help here
i was thinking 3 solutions.
unlocking the bootloader but how?
waiting for Lollipop img
or calling Motorola to unlock the bl
thank u
why would you relock your bootloader?
solution its simple, if you dont want to unlock it again, use rsd lite 6.2.9 and flash the firmware from the country of your moto maxx, if its a mexican moto maxx flash mexico ,if its puerto rico, PR or if its brasil, then brasil. you can flash them, those are flasheable with locked bootloader because they are signed, just the one where your phone was

use RSD 6.2.4, it's compatible with Moto X 2nd.
You shouldn't update OTA, i think flash full fw with RSD is safest way, cleanest, and fastest.

I need marshmallow 6.0. ... and I don't want to install custom recovery, ROM or root it, if it not necessary for upgrade process.
I will be very thankful to you.

Great sir, I followed your instructions and I successfully upgraded my moto x2 xt 1096 (5.1) to official 6.0 xt1092 without any trouble or changing my recovery or any thing else. Thanks for your help.
one thing is when I restart my device one warning screen appear like (your device's bootloader is unlocked and some more cautions) and moto boot animation is changed. Is it possible to get rid from these by simply re locking bootloader by fastboot command....... "fastboot oem lock"
Or after changing firmware it's not possible to re lock it simply myself or any other code is required.
And one more question can i later install other update like 6.0.1 if it is available in same way or will you upload any future updated firmware in same location MEGA from where I downloaded earlier.
And will I get any future OTA from Motorola i.e. 6.0.1 or higher and should I install that OTA if arrives, or not?
I will wait for your reply. Thank again

Yes, when you unlock your bootloader, the boot logo changes to the warning logo, and the boot animation was changed by Motorola for 6.0.
You should be able to relock the bootloader by "fastboot oem lock". You can also flash a different boot logo and animation, but then the phone will not be pure stock anymore.
Because you flashed pure stock firmware, you should get System updates for XT1092 when they are released by Motorola, you don't need to reflash the full firmware.
The factory firmwares on MEGA are not mine, but thank you to whoever is uploading them there.

Thanks dear Sir for your guidance.
So it mean if I re lock the bootloader by entering command "fastboot oem lock", then I can install future OTA update if it arrives for xt1092 without bricking my device? Or my device has official stock but hybrid firmware or some parts of firmware. (xt1096 +xt1092) and may brick while installing official motorola OTAs? Or now it is 100% pure xt1092.?
This is last request And I don't wat to waste your time any more because you already given your precious time to me.
Thanks again for your guidance.

1) You don't need to lock the bootloader to receive ota updates. Updates work with the bootloader unlocked.
2) Don't worry about updates, Motorola said marshmallow 6.0 is the last update this phone gets. There will not be anymore OTA updates.

Hi sir I tried to re lock the bootloader by entering command " fastboot oem lock " and failed as........
..... (bootloader) FAIL: please run fastboot oem lock begin first!
(bootloader) sst lock failure!
Then I entered... fastboot oem lock begin
and returnd string is follow
.... ( bootloader ) ready to flash signed images
Then I can't understand what to do now.?
And an other thing when I connect my phone to PC it is still recognise and mention it's name XT 1096 however I installed firmware of XT 1092 and every thing inside is totally new corresponding to 6.0 and is XT 1092.
Is there any thing wrong, or its bootloader could be re locked. Or I should repeat the whole flashing process and at last befor entering "fastboot reboot", I should try fastboot oem lock. Is that maters or not before rebooting first time, or should I re flash the boot.img now to lock the bootloader or it is more difficult to do or it is impossible. Any idea or help or any other link please.

Yes sure, follow the instructions in first page of this thread given by Gus Ghanem and say thanks to XDA developer team and their members
---------- Post added at 02:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:15 PM ----------
There is also a MEGA link to download stock marshmallow 6.0 firmwares
---------- Post added at 02:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:19 PM ----------
But only proceed to flash marshmallow 6.0 firmwares if you are not using Verizon network because you will loose CDMA but you can use GSM and UMTS networks

Hi,
i just got brand new unused Moto X 2nd gen (2014), It has 4.4 Android on it, but OTA update does not want to work anymore, as of 15.1.2020.
It is unlocked XT1095.
I am looking for somebody to help me over Skype to update it to 5.1 and then to 6.0 - the way usual update would go, and would donate to you via PayPal.
Hi All!
Here is my situation, I have a moto g xt1072 (Jan 2016) which came with a faulty problem, no sound after 5 seconds of been started. I checked everything (Factory reset via recovery), including both speakers, (both working at 7.5 ohms). Do you think a firmware change or a different ROM can help or it's time to let it go?
Base band: M8926_309101.02.03.19R THEA_EMEA_CUST

System Version: 24.41.34.thea_retes.retesall.en.EU retes

Everything is stock, no changes were made.
Thanks in advance!!!

Yep, if you are familliar with this process could you mind writing me a list of steps in order? I'll investigate 1 by 1 later, I've found so much info that's confusing. My phone is unlcock for any cellphone company, but It's not root, it's stock.

Fastboot: I'm not quite sure what is this about, is this for the new firmware installation? The guide you point says something about downgrading 4.3 to 4.2 and I'm running 6.0 stock.
I tried the first command (mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin) and it got stuck at : Waiting for device.
should I root the phone first?
can I use RSD Lite?

The guide I linked to is not about downgrading. Ignore references to Android 4.3 - it still applies to Android 6.0. It sounds like you have not installed the usb drivers for your phone in Windows. This is a prerequisite. These Moto G drivers will also work for your phone:
Moto G USB Drivers (WinXP/7/8/10 32Bit-64Bit)
Test Fastboot is working by typing: fastboot devices
You may also be able to use RSD Lite - but this again will require you have installed USB drivers for your phone.

my opinion is use RSD lite first, unless there is not a specific firmware file for your carrier/region...
or there is a high rate of flashing failure with the firmware available.
if RSD lite fails, best to post errors from pc and phone here
before try again, if there's not an obvious fix
then try mfastboot.exe
fastboot.exe is generic android, mfastboot.exe is Motorola specific, for moto's unique system.img...
avoid usb 3.0 ports
make sure the firmware downloaded is correct size, verified MD5 is best.
verify drivers are correct when the device is in fastboot mode
I have generic moto instructions in my

i think the tip you gave to avoid usb 3.0 ports will really help, didnt realize i was using the usb 3.0 port
Ok, this is what I did so far: (I'm running Windows 7 64b).
1. RSD Lite 6.2.4: Installed
2. Motorola Mobile Drivers Installation 6.4.0: Installed
3. Motorola Device Manager: Installed
1. I started the mobile into the recovery mode
2. Connected the moto cable to the pc
3. Opened RSD Lite, loaded the new firmware and hit start boton
4. The process reached a "please reboot manually...."
5. The phone starts but with the old firmware in it.
More Updates: I ran mfastboot sequence and every command returned OKAY. The issue still remains intact, sound works for 5 seconds, and the firmware has not been updated.
Any thoughts?

Ok, please check the attachment.
It looks increasingly like your issue is hardware, not software related. The only remaining software option I can suggest is via PC, do the following wipe: (requires working ADB setup - google it)
