Are you flashing correct recovery from download mode?

Yes. Same issue have other users as far as i know.

I'm having the same problem on my SM-N920S (SK Telecom) Note 5. I've enabled OEM unlocking in Developer Options and have tried flashing both TWRP and PhillzTouch Recovery using Odin. Odin reports a successful flash but when I try to boot into Recovery (Volume Up/Power Key) I get a "System Update" message on screen followed by standard stock recovery.
Anyone?
Is there anyway to root 9200 on latest oka rom?
Same issue here. Do anyone know how to solve this problem? Or...TWRP need a update?

I currently have a rooted SGH-T879. I have never installed a custom ROM before but I would like to install CM10.
The problems I am having are
- CMW and TWRP only have i717 (would this work)?
- I cannot boot into recovery mode. (When I do the button combo it's a black screen after the samsung logo and when I use an app to boot into recovery it soft bricks the phone.
- I am getting a installation aborted error when I tried to install it before the recovery mode stopped working.
The files I have are:
[email protected] (file name exactly as typed)
gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip (file name exactly as typed)
I also have USB debugging and Unknown sources checked.
Please help, this is far more complicated than the jailbreak on ios that I was used to. Thanks
Do yoi have a custom recovery installed? If so, which one? Did you root the phone via odin?

Currently I do not have a custom recovery, I had CWM 5.0 previously but I am trying to install CWM 5.8.4.3 or TWRP 2.3.1.1 which I think are latest for my Note. Those are coming to no avail also.
CWM - the progress bar isn't moving when using the .tar file (used odin 1.85 and 3.04 and 3.07)
TWRP - odin crashes after using the .img.tar.md5 file after it verifies files.

Maybe need to uninstall odin then reinstall the latest version and reroot. May have a corrupted odin download

Three fresh downloads, still have the same results.
Hello everyone, I'm having a problem flashing tw roms through twrp. It installs the rom but when I reboot my phone it just hangs at the boot animation. When I go back into twrp and wipe data and then try rebooting my phone it tells me my phones not rooted and asks me if I want to install super su. I can flash aosp roms just fine. I'm hoping I can fix this without having to unroot and root my phone all over again.
you need to flash the correct modem and bootloader for the rom

Flashed modem and bootloader but no luck. Looks like ill just odin back to stock and re root my phone.
I upgraded from cog2 to dok2 by flashing through odin just fine. then I flashed cfauto root through odin to retain root, worked great check through root checker and have root. now my problems come when i try to install twrp 3.0.0. I go into odin and flash, says successful and phone boot up just fine. but when I power phone off and try to launch twrp it just stays on the samsung galaxy note 4 powered by android screen, then shuts off the goes back to screen and does this it wont boot to twrp or boot back to normal start up. i have to go back to download mode and start the process all over again reflashing dok2 and root, Every time i try to install twrp same thing. Any ideas?
Latest twrp is like 2.8.7.6 or something not 3.0.0 make sure your flashing the correct twrp or philz recovery for your phone model.

Latest is 3.0.0.0-1. Op downloaded the version that was bugged. A new version came out that fixed the problem and is posted in the twrp 3.0.0.0 thread in the T-Mobile galaxy note 4 original development forum

I'm having a bit of trouble trying to get a Custom recovery working in my phone. It's a SM-N920C International (UAE) version. If I flash Arther's Philz Recovery or TWRP both of them get stuck in "Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Recovery is not SEandroid enforcing". Usually it should start right away but even waiting like 10 minutes it doesn't start. I can use the phone normally and even flash stock roms with ODIN. It just doesn't want to start any Custom Recover I throw into it. Any thoughts?

Oops, I've forgot that! I'm on Marshmallow
Btw I realized that I was installing LP recoveries in MM so I flashed the lastest TWRP build and now it works. The new problem is that I managed to root it but even if SuperSU works I can't manage to modify system files and busybox doesn't work either. I've flashed Dr.Ketan experimental MM root over Supersu 2.67 (Systemless root) because it didn't worked.. so maybe there's a conflict there. I'll report tomorrow.
Fixed with a beta of twrp

Flash SuperSU Beta 2.68.
I was trying to install TWRP on my Note 5 using odin and everything worked perfectly. I even got the green "PASS" icon. But when it rebooted, I turned off the phone to boot into TWRP using Home+Power+Vol Up, and I got a installing system updates icon, then a fallen android bot with a yellow cross sign on top, and then it loaded into default android recovery, not TWRP. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!!
This happend to me too. What you need to do is to flash a custom kernel for your device because you installed a custom recovery and what happens is that that the stock kernel stops working or it gets erased, but the fix for the problem is flashing a custom kernel.

I can't flash it through custom recovery because I can't get to it
But before you flash the TWRP again to your device and the kernel you need to download the official firmware for your Note 5 because it seems that you messed up real bad with you phone.
Just google official firmware N9208 and download it to then flash it through ODIN in download mode, then after installing the Firmware boot up the phone and set it up, after that you go to Developers Mode and enable OEM and USB Debugging, after that you download the kernel i provided above for your N9208 IN YOUR PHONE. Afterwards, go to Download Mode and flash TWRP through ODIN in your phone and then boot up the recovery and flash the kernel that is in thr internal storage of your phone in the Download folder. Now the phone should br rooted. If you still didn't understand the instructions then look up this video https://youtu.be/We6OUJvzve0
hope it works for you ?

Thank you SO much for that detailed reply. I understand the instructions but is it alright if instead of flashing a stock firmware I just factory reset my phone?
