How Tasker Can Make You More Productive
Have you taken a look at Tasker and thought "Eh this isn't for me.." Well if so then that would make you a liar. Tasker is for anyone and everyone that wants to improve the way that they use their Android device. First thing you should know is that most of those mods you flash to get special features like Tap2Wake, Active Display, Silent mode when faced down and others are all possible with Tasker. You don't even need to root your device! So right there you're saving time and happiness. Let's take a look at all of the best ways that Tasker can make you more productive like a business man with a briefcase.
Automate SMS
Everyday I have to go pickup my stupid idiot brother from work. Once I'm there I have to fumble around with my phone as I spill hot coffee all over myself so I can text him that I've arrived. Well no more! I can automate an outgoing sms based on my location. So this idea is simple. I set a new profile based on location. I chose the GPS location of where my brother works. The action I attach to that location will be sending an sms to my brothers phone number that says "Here." Now the text will be sent automatically as soon as I pull into the parking lot.

The same idea can be applied to locations on the road. So if I'm in route to my meet my brother at his work, I can program a text to be sent that says "I'll be there in 15 minutes" once I reach a specific location.
You can also schedule texts to be sent out based on date and time. Never forget about Mothers Day again and just tell your phone to text your Mom "Happy Mothers Day! I'll never forget about you!" on whatever day Mothers Day is on. Who knows.
Keep Track Of Time
Here's a pretty nifty one that some people are using. You can keep better track of time as it passes, by setting your phone to vibrate every 30 minutes.
Of course you can use this in anyway that you please. Maybe you set it to vibrate every 10 minutes from 8:00am - 9:00am every morning as you get ready for work. It's a simple task that can be used for many different things.
Create context-based voice reminders
Well here is a good idea. You can set voice reminders based on the time and date. At the end of every month you can have your phone yell at you about paying your bills.
So for a task like this to run, you'd create a new profile where the context is the date and the event is the reminder. This is another simple but very useful task.
Sensor Events
This is my favorite type of task to run. You can assign any type of task to run when it's triggered by a sensor. For example we can tell Tasker to launch Chrome when you shake your device. You can even program how sensitive the shake trigger will be and how long it lasts. But launching an app is just one thing you can do with it. You can also tell it to shut your screen off, send a text, make a call, kill a specific app and all kinds of nice things.
These examples are pretty bare bone but it's just to get you started. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be creating much more elaborate tasks that can do amazing things to help you be a more productive person.

You can use the "test app" feature in the application task section, and test against the Calendar app to pull data from it. Then you can manipulate this however you want, for example, when I dismiss my alarm my phone reads out my calendar events for the day. I will post a guide later today on how to do this.
I use a couple of profiles for productivity. The first is what I call active mode, which is a user created variable. If I'm in active mode and try to go on non productive apps such as a game or social media my phone tells me I'm in active mode and should do some work before switching back to my launcher home screen. I also have some activity tracking profiles which log when I start and finish something before uploading the information to a Google spread sheet.

Is there a way or a program to have timed profile? Meaning; profile changes to vibrate, silent or normal on times specifed!
For instance, I put my phone on silent at 11 evening and would be nice to have a program or something timed to switch to normal again at 7 in the morning

Funny thing is that I have just thought about re-installing this application onto my Diamond for the same reason. It allows a very granular control over automatic profile, with the ability to link diary entries, hardware conditions, connectivity conditions & also time of day to ensure the best profile for every moment (dam, i sound like a marketing blurb)...........
Anyone else installed this on a Diamond, I can't see any reason it wouldn't work ok?

You could just set an appointment at 11 pm - 7 am and repeat daily in outlook and set the status to busy. Your diamond should then auto go into silent, although I haven't checked, it does work on other win mobs.

good question, on my old device i could edit the profiles. no idea how to do that on diamond.

Another vote here for SPB Phone Suite.
I'm using it on my Diamond and the timed profiles are effortless. Profiles can also be set to control bluetooth, wifi and phone on/off, along with call filtering and repeating notifications for texts, emails & missed calls.

From TF3D Home|Settings|Sound| check "Automatic Set to vibrate during appointments"

Another way is to use something like PhoneAlarm, you can have "profiles" set up so when you activate say "home" profile with either time/location/manual it can switch on/off/change any sounds/alerts/wifi/bt etc ans also "run" any program as well.
I personally use this as my home screen and use both timed profiles and outlook items/tasks/appointments to switch. see sreenshot

Yeah, Phone Alarm is good.
Using Phone alarm and other software, that mean you need to give up TF3D. But I still like the TF3D interface.
Like TF3D, but hate it because not easy to customize
Tha latest version of Phone Alarm allows you to switch between manila and your default today.

I downloaded trail version of spb phone suite, it looks promising where you can specify from what time to what time you want to switch to another profile! Looks nice but I have to see if it works actually and post back again

Phoneweaver does the trick for me, I have set the Day profile from 7am till 10pm then it automatically switches to Night - set only to vibrate, until 7am the next day. You can have a lot more in depth settings if you want, but that is enough for my needs. You can also have a Car profile or any other profile you want to create. It switches Data connections on and off and also Push email.
Phoneweaver is good
I have downloaded both SPB Phone Suite and Phoneweaver trial version. First I started with SPB Phone Suite which also has Time based profiles but didn't work actually. I specified a time for a profile but was never activated on that time.
The Suite has some other nice features such as adding photos to call history and reminder interval based on sms and missed calls. It could be good peice of program is the timed profile feature work.
Then I downloaded Phoneweaver and the timed profile works just fine so i will keep that.

Hello there, I'm the creator of the competition app Pebby - Baby Helper.
Pebby helps you take care of your baby. It allows you to easily set the last time the baby slept, ate or had its diaper changed. Glance down and check how long it has been since any of those events.
Pressing one of the three buttons starts or stops the timer for each of the three activities. The last time or time interval is shown besides each activity.
You can also view statistics and graphs of your baby's activities on your smartphone, on the configuration page.
Now that the competition is over and the first version of the app is released, I'll continue to listen to feedback and ideas for Pebby, to further improve it.
As this app is based on actual requests from moms, it's important for me to receive parents' inputs on how to improve it. Feel free to offer suggestions in this thread or via PM.

Progress Report
The project is going along nicely, with the basic draft layout already done.
The app already has a menu icon and can be used to track the last feeding and diaper change times.
Next steps are to implement the sleeping times and save the information between app executions!
After some more development time, here's where Pebby is:
I've implemented the sleeping times, the time values persistence and redesigned the icons as an action bar to free up some much needed screen real estate.
Bonus points for automatically supporting buttons' pressed state now (because of the action bar, nifty little layer).
The absolute basic functionality of the app is now done, but it's time to start considering the storage and display of graphs: iOS apps require some time after bundling the working Javascript, which I'll need to implement the remaining features.
No screenshot today because the work so far has been mainly behind the scenes:

Ability to reset values history and start from scratch

The challenge end date is closing in and the app finally displays fuzzy "X time ago" texts.
I'm going to use the time that's left to essentially debug the app and make it more reliable in cases where the phone becomes disconnected from the watch as well as design the required store assets.

I didn't do anything specific for the round Pebbles. A number of fixes and improvements are planned for the future, including upgrading the app to use the new SDKs and correctly drawing on second and third generation devices but unfortunately I haven't had the time to do it. So it's not forgotten but I can't promise dates right now.
If you do end up testing it on Pebble Time Round can you please report how it shows right now?

Getting Started With Tasker
Many of us have probably had a similar experience with the first time we used Tasker. We download the app, take our clothes off, get into bed and then realize we just aren't ready for this. So I thought I'd put together a small getting started guide for Tasker.
What is Tasker?
Tasker is an Android app that allows you to create automated tasks that are triggered based on selected circumstances... Ok that's already confusing so let me give you an example. I can program tasker to open up my shopping list every time my GPS location shows that I'm at the grocery store. I can also program my phone to to lock my texting app when I go to sleep so my girlfriend doesn't snoop through my phone. Now all I need is a girlfriend.
First be sure to download the app from the Play store.

Scenes
Scenes are user interfaces that you can create in Tasker. Think of a scene as a box that contains various elements that you would normally find in an app interface, like buttons, text, text input, images, sliders, and so on. Normal Tasker actions can be tied to these elements, so that you can have a button that runs a task, a text field that lets you write text to a variable, or a slider that controls screen brightness.
Scenes can be all kinds of sizes, and be displayed in different ways: As a pop-up box, full screen like an app, as an overlay over another app, and so on. The size and type of scene depends on what you need the scene to do. I will quickly go through the basics of creating a scene, and then I will go through multiple examples at the end to show how everything works in practice and for different uses.
Tasks
Tasks are a set of customized actions. You can create tasks like "If the battery is below 50%, mute volume." Creating tasks is usually the part where most people give up. After all it looks like you're solving advanced algebra problems. Stick with it and mess around with it until you get the hang of it.
Profiles
Profiles are conditions that will trigger your tasks that you've created. I can create a profile that will trigger my mute volume task that I created above to only activate on the weekends. So then I know that every Saturday and Sunday my volume will mute if my battery is below 50%.
These settings will also take a bit to get used to. Don't worry, you wont hurt anything by messing around with them until it all makes sense.
This will get you started to the point where you can create your first automated task. Just start simple and then experiment with more complex tasks.
Push Tasker
Push Tasker is a plugin for the app Pushbullet. Pushbullet is an amazing app with all kinds of capabilities to send information from one device to another. I personally use it to setup custom notifications for updates on specific websites. there are some great instructional videos to help you get started with Push Tasker.
With Push Tasker, you can have Tasker send notes, links, and lists automatically. It can also intercept notifications or reply on its own. If you're already using both of these apps then you'll love the idea of combining the two of them. Check out this video to see how it work.

AutoLocation
AutoLocation will let you set custom Geofences. A Geofence is a location on the map that you will be able to define by giving it an exact radius. You can then have tasker react when you're within your defined location.
This is a perfect way for me to keep track of all the restraining orders that people have on me. I'll just get a notification every time I'm getting to close to someone's house. Keeps me of trouble and out of jail!

Besides the AutoApps plugins by joaomgcd, there are some excellent newer plugins called Snackbar Tasker Plugin and Material Design Tasker Plugin made by Nick Nack Development that allow you to easily create interactable Material Design scenes. Beats using the stock scene editor!
BaldApps plugins are the best IMHO
AutoRemote is by far the best plugin in my experience, we've been using it for years. It solves the cross-Google account issue with PushBullet, so I can send things to my wife, son, parents etc. PushBullet is frustratingly limited to one Google account.
The number two slot is mentioned above (AutoWear), before that was AutoPebble. AutoNotification is very useful, as is AutoTools for the What3Words API.
We've stopped buying the Auto apps and started subscribing as it's ridiculously better value for money.
All the AutoApps (including the alpha ones) are almost a requisite at this point. As "FourQ" mentioned - the subscription is the ultimate deal, for about a dollar a month you get every single AutoApp plugin, (including the alpha ones). It's a total of like 30 plugins.
Also the Snackbar and Material Design plugins (by Nick Nack Development) are great for so many things, whether taking input or displaying data, in a look/feel of complete Material Design, without ever having to setup or mess around with using a Scene.
Join from JoaoApps is a new one, and basically is a full replacement for PushBullet. It integrates with Tasker too of course, but in a way that's also far beyond what Pushbullet does. There's no monthly fee for using Join, just a one time purchase.
Two brand new recent releases that are extremely helpful in dealing with data storage for Tasker are the Spreadsheet Tasker Plugin and the Tasker SQLite Plugin. The first can upload/download data directly to/from Google Sheets. The second can store/retrieve/administrate SQLite databases on the device using Tasker and without using root (in regards to databases you create). So amazing what folks have come up with lately.
Others I use include On Time which lets Tasker designate groups of quick launch icons in homescreen widgets, as well as the plugin KC Tasker Processes which lets you know if an application is running in the background.
Secure Settings still has its uses, however plugin Media Utilities seems to have not been updated in a long time and may be abandoned.
Well, since failed to finda mod/tweak/app, whatever, that is capable of this...
In short, I want a module to automate the choices for the dialogs Android has from time to time.

(Contacting the dev - naturally - didn't give me any response... go figure)
This was one thing iOS's homebrew devs did very well... it saves so much time
( The app basically kept a list on any app and their popups [similar to NotifyClear on Android] and then if such Dialog fired, answered it automatically with the last remembered user choice
(In order to train the program, you just had to hold the desired button for some time, till "Automata" asked you to remember the choice for the future)
I would love it, if someone could point me to such tweak, as this is the only thing I dearly miss on Android.

(I already dismiss some popups via tasker + autoinput, but it lacks the simplicity this program offered... I already have quiet some Tasks running all the time... Overloading Tasker w. 20+ tasks just for popups seems ridiculous)

There is an Xposed module that will get rid of airplane mode messages both stand alone and part of wanam I believe. Properly configured there are no dialogs that Wanam cannot cover for you. Whether tasker has 20+ tasks or 200+ it doesn't matter. As far is a "simple" app for ios......it's a simple app for a simple device for simple users
