Thank you for your efforts to help.
I activated it on the site.
I activated it on my phone.
I set my network to CDMA/LTE.
I make sure I'm on 4G LTE
I call someone.
Lose 4G.
Those are all my steps.
Perhaps I disabled an app that is required?
Also, do calls progress as normal or is there an intermediate screen?
When I call 611 I get a "Connecting" screen.

thats not true. Its only true to use the advance video calling if the other person has the feature. Wont effect the usage if another person doesnt have it. Just wont be able to use video chat

no thats not what it does for me. What i recommend doing is a factory reset.
To anyone in the future who has this same problem:
0) I correctly followed the steps to get Volte and nothing worked.
1) Factory reset did not fix my problem.
2) No one I talked to knew what they were talking about (surprise surprise).
3) I reached someone (Keshia) via chat and she deleted all my features and then re-added them - this fixed it.
4) ???
5) I can make calls and still be on 4g now. Praise the Lord.
Whenever I make a phone call, the phone (Stock, rooted) pops up a warning saying that "Mobile Data Not Available" and "Mobile data is unavailable while on this call. Apps like email, Internet and social networking will work if you connect to Wi-Fi."
I'm fully aware of the limitations on the phone hardware, and I don't need to be reminded of it every single time... and then have to click a stupid button to make it go away, particularly when I am driving. Is there a way to disable this stupid popup? I can certainly get into system files (since I'm rooted)... just need to know what to do.
Please keep in mind, this is different from the warning some users have complained about which pops up a similar warning when they disable mobile data... this is a different popup that happens with phone calls.
Thanks in advance!

Never turned it on because coverage is spotty at my house. I wish it would be VoWIFI, then I'd be all over it... I assume it doesn't work that way, correct?
It's warning you the phone is dropping down to CDMA for a phone call, which can't handle data and voice simultaneously.
VoLTE can. So, if it's giving you that warning, you are probably on stock ROM?
If you used VoLTE, it would not give you that warning.
I'm also assuming custom ROMs don't have that warning, but I'm not sure -- since I don't use Verizon and I always have simultaneous data/voice.

Correct. If you want to make VoIP calls with WiFi, your best bet is downloading the google hangouts dialer. You'll be able to make calls over wifi free to US numbers, and you can even make it so it will show up as your number on their caller ID. The only drawback is that you can't receive calls over WiFi using this app.
But to answer your question, just turn on advanced calling. Even if it doesn't work due to your lack of signal, it shouldn't hurt anything, and it will get rid of that message.
Yeah, I know what the warning is about., I just don't need to hear about it every time I make a call... so I wanted to disable the popup. I figure if the ROM cookers have seen it, they can point me to where it is and I can remove it.
My concern with adding Advanced Calling is that, as I've heard, it's not able to transfer off VoLTE into a regular calling mode. In other words, if you're on VoLTE, you have to stay on it or else you'll lose the call... is this no longer true? If so, then I'd consider turning it on... but I can't afford to drop calls during a drive (I'm now working in sales, after all!)
Related: I saw a some info about Wifi calling, which is available on some newer phones... I know VZ doesn't let us do this on our phones (for whatever reason) but I wonder if we can enable this feature on our phones via a custom ROM or some manually added modules?

Unlikely since we haven't even figured out how to get VoLTE onto custom ROMs. Plus, Wi-Fi Calling wouldn't be as easy as enabling something. Even if we could somehow enable it, Verizon would need to allow it on their side.

This is also why I can't Wi-Fi calling. AT&T has it for premium AT&T branded phones (mine is not) and for their postpaid/contract customers (I am on AT&T in-house prepaid GoPhone). So, only AT&T can give me Wi-Fi calling, not a custom ROM.
I am uncertain which information is true or false, but thought I would ask here. I realized I may be missing a few features when I bought the unlocked Note 8. However, I was under the impression that I could somehow enable things like HD voice and Video Calling.
If I am able to do this, can someone provide a link to a guide I can follow for the Note 8? I realize there are third party apps. But, I was hoping to achieve the above naively.
I'm Currently with AT&T, but prefer the ability to Hot-Spot by using an unlocked version of the Note. Hopefully someone who has enabled this can chime in.
I currently have an ATT Note 8 and I have a similar question. I want to flash the unlocked firmware so I can use it on T-Mobile. I've looked online and couldn't find an answer hope someone here can help us.
So my understanding is that AT&T only allows things like HD Voice, Video Calling, VoLTE, Wi-Fi Calling, etc. On their branded device's. It's why I actually didn't get the unlocked device even though I previously had a Note 7.

This was my understanding as well, but, I thought someone came up with a clever way of enabling these features. Hot spot and the ability to jump carriers were more important features than the others... which is why I went with unlocked. Am stuck in an unlimited data plan with AT&T for one more year. Unfortunately, they don't allow any kind of hotspot with unlimited plan.
Since the phone just became available and only to few people (BTW I'm still waiting), you guys have to wait , because since all those are hacks, phones have to get to right hands and then may take some time to figure things out, unless any of you have enough knowledge, then head to S8/S8+ forum and try using those solutions on your Note 8, may even work.
When I booted my Note 8 with T-mobile sim card, it applied some carrier customization and enabled VoLTE and WiFI calling but video calling is missing which I don't use much anyways.
You can usually do this via the service modes:
Dial *#0011# may work
Press the Menu key and then Back
Press Menu again then Key input and enter the value 1.
Wait a little
Press Menu and then Back
Press DEBUG SCREEN
Press WB-AMR SETTINGS
Press WB-AMR ENABLE
This use to work on previous models.
(In the UK being shafted by a long wait for my Note 8)
I thought many of the methods wouldn't work since AT&T uses whitelists on their system and it's not just the features are missing from the OS.
I tried the *#0011# and was able to get all the way to debug. That screen or option is not showing up on my unlocked note 8.

I know the S8 crowd has been flashing the carries specific CSC/CP files through a modified ODIN on top of the UNLOCKED firmware. I'm sure this will work on the note 8 as well. The modem should enable all the carrier specific bands and the CSC should enable the wifi calling and VOLTE. on a side note, check in the settings menu for the wifi calling. when I flashed the T mobile CP over the U firmware, I did not have a WIFI calling quick toggle but I did have wifi calling the in the regular settings menu. I had to toggle it on and off that way.

Are you on an old grandfathered in AT&T unlimited plan? I have a new Unlimited plan and they offer lots of goodies including a 10GB/month hotspot for each phone.
Check them out: https://www.att.com/plans/unlimited-data-plans.html
You should not be stuck in any plan now for a year or any time frame. Change when you want to change.

I had to download the app "shortcut master". Navigate to to IMS Settings, click RCS Configuration and enabled everything. I also can see the WB settings under "DM Configuration" under the IMS settings but they are relabeled as xxx_WB and instead of enabled/disabled, it is a 0 or 1. I believe the 1 is enabled. Probably need to restart as well but I am uncertain.
The outstanding question I have is do I need to change HD_VOICE under the DM configuration from a 0 to 1 as I see that there as well.

I downloaded the shorcut master. However when i try to change anything, it says SU: not found. I also saw in there about the HD voice enabled. But am not able to launch any type of editor. I have the note 8 unlocked version, using straight talk sim card on verizon towers. I would love to be able to talk on the phone and surf the internet at the same time.
anyone able to get this working on the unlocked version?
I have video calling & HD Voice working on unlocked model with VZW SIM on gUDP, I almost had WiFi Calling working; but broke video calling. I'm hoping to get both working; WiFi Calling works with T-Mobile SIM out of the box. I haven't messed with my AT&T SIM to see if any of the features work; but maybe this week I will.

How did you get video calling working. I still have yet to successfully place the call.
I've been reading about all the Note 8's (Snapdragon) being the same hardware but different firmwares which can be flashed vice-versa. I'll assume the ESN/MEID of the unlocked models are in Sprint's database. (Still have nightmares trying to activate a Nexus 6P with Sprint)
I'm wondering if it is worth it to get the unlocked model and then flash/ODIN the Sprint firmware (for Wifi-Calling/Calling Plus, and VoLTE, etc).
Why go through this? If I can get the unlocked model cheaper than the Sprint branded version, is it worth it?
I'm on unlocked note 8 with sprint. Activation was simple. easy and no trouble. I do have wifi calling.

*73 works but FYI it forwards calls after 23 seconds or if you hit END
*28 is what gvoice recommends which forwards on no answer or busy.
Almost the same thing but you get the busy signal forward as well as when it goes to voicemail with 28. 73 is more of a timeout or on reject.

Sprint WiFi calling already works on unlocked version...for VoIP we are waiting for update...Sprint will enable provisioning for your imei if you call them...mine is enabled awaiting the VoIP update when released...Verizon and AT&T are the only ones having issues with WiFi calling and VoLTE...Video calling is not even offered by Sprint
My unlocked on Sprint has:
Download Booster
WiFi Calling
Hotspot (shortcut master lite method)
HD voice (shortcut master lite enable enhanced lte)
VoIP (provisioned by Sprint but awaiting app (like Sprint's WFC for WiFi calling) to be installed in future update to work)
VVM by Google Voice (Sprint VVM needs root and build prop edit with required files pushed to system folders)
No Video Calling will be available because Sprint and Google agreed for Google duo....which is sometimes better anyways
Duo does work great, have tried with both my wife and father ( both have s8s) . I got email today that my Sprint SIM CARD was shipped but the phone is still on backorder, errrr. Hoping to get update in few days since when i bought it said would be shipped after the 15th.. FINGERS CROSSED!!!
Ps, did you have to do anything to the phone to get the wificalling or hotspot working?? I have hotspot on my sprint plan so i plan on using it for tablets for the kids., and deff want VOLTE when its ready
