hi
Sorry to post in x98 forum but I have not found separate forum for model x80hd.
I have bought it recently for my children. It's as usual full of Chinese bloatware.
Where can I find clean, updated android rom for flash?
I have also x98 air 3g and thanks to mirek190 I am able to have fun wit clean, great performance android on this. Any help for x80hd?
This is new version with dual boot with Windows 10.
Thanks

Also an owner here, and after some tinkering with it, I can honestly say that it is a great value for money purchase. The android installation that comes with it, is not too bad imo, but unfortunately even after installing nova launcher and disabling\uninstalling all the chinese apps, it has battery drain issues(about 1% for every passed having the screen off, and that with all the radios disabled and green mode on). Win10 runs without a hic and gets 1-1.5 more hours of usage(I am pretty sure it's because the minimum brightness in android is way more than it should be)!!, but I much prefer android for news reading and media consumption purposes. I would love an aosp clean android rom for it, but it seems there are currently none to be found. So until a dev does something about it, try to root it(I think the minitool for x98 works for it) and get rid of all the unwanted apps by hand. You can even regain all the Win10 space(although most ppl prefer the reverse), by reinstalling the original ROM after meddling with the partition tables. There are guides for the x98 and the procedure seems to be the same. Do you also have battery drain issues?
Kind regards, Prodromos

other then this I love wp

Hi there, If I were you, I wouldn't hesitate for a second: go for the Samsung Galaxy S4! I had a HTC Mozart and then a Windows Phone 8X, which I swapped for my old HTC One S and I couldn't be happier. I don't think I'm looking back any time soon!

Actually, I've used both Android and Windows Phone a lot, and I can tell you that Android is as smooth as WP. Obviously, if you use a crappy Android phone, it's not going to be smooth, but I guess the same applies to WP. As for the Xperia ZR, it looks like a great phone, but I've never been a fan of Sony phones; it's just a matter of personal preference. But I can assure you that either of the phones you are considering is going to be as smooth as any Lumia 925, Samsung ATIV or HTC 8X.
"The same" doesn't actually apply to WP - the minimum requirements for WP7 and WP8 devices are high enough to ensure good performance of the OS (Android has no such restrictions).
Android will get worse battery life and (especially depending on where you get your apps from, and no, XDA isn't even always safe) a higher risk of malware, but you do also get a larger number of apps and a more tweakable system. Also, the S4 has better specs than any current WP8 device (my phone, the Samsung ATIV S, has hardware equivalent to that of the S3).
My boss has the Sony phone, and has had nothing but trouble with it. The features they advertise are there, and work well, but the USB port failed quickly (makes charging and synching tricky), the external speakers (including speakerphone) are very soft, and it has had various other problems. Definitely not recommended, unless the consideration of "high-end waterproof phone" overrules everything else.
After almost two years of owning the Xperia Z1, I was thinking of an upgrade, so I was asking this question to you, ladies and gentlemen, do you think it's a worthy upgrade to go to Xperia Z3+?
I know about the heat issues with Snapdragon 810 chipset, and I wanted to stress the fact that I don't game on my mobile, and I will not use the 4K on the Z3+ much at all.
Or do you think I should rather wait for a new Xperia iteration?
I have the same thoughts because I had the Z1 for almost 2 years. I decided to stay on the Z1 and wait for Z5 or another phone... The fact is: for that money, the Snapdragon 810 is not worth it!
And there is Sir Venkat Kamesh with his GREAT Rockroms... I had about 11 phones now and his ROMs are the best and I think he is going to provide updates till Android M. And yes, Sony will release Android M for Z1.
And after all, its still a very nice and fast phone
Absolutely agree with you. Z1 still good phone, hardware is not out of date, design - classic never die , sony`s lifetime of product also beyond praise. I'll wait for a new model, Z5 or something like that.
Indeed, the Z1 has a classic lovely design, and I cared about this phone a lot, as good as new, no scratches or scuffs, never dropped. But I am getting a bit frustrated about Lollipop update, phone feeling a bit sluggish, lots of redraws, pretty bad battery life; and all these after a factory reset, too.
And I am in a bit of a tight spot too, since I switched from Windows-based laptop to a Macbook Pro, and I don't think I can flash any custom ROM's on a Mac?
Still, ArmadiloDS, could you post a link for those ROM's of Venkat Kamesh, just to have a look? Thanks a lot!

Yes you can use flash tool on a Mac. I have been using one since i got the phone, two years ago.
May I add, I am also not upgrading next month, as this phone still kicks ass. Apart from the battery life on 5.0.2. Which is completely ****, even after a factory reset and stock install.
Gets below 50% and almost instant drop to naught.

Hi guys just want to ask why custom rom development in Zuk z2 pro is less if you compared it with z2 plus. I'm planning to buy zuk z2 pro because of amoled screen and 6gb ram.
Currently I have s7 edge that I used in banking apps and work but I want this phone just to satisfy my rooting desire.
Are there any available site outside xda where they develop z2 pro rom?
If not what any advise on what device will satisfy my rooting cravings with almost same hardware and less than 300 dollars?
Thank you in advance.
I don't know exactly why there's not as much development. It's already kind of a niche to have a brand that Lenovo is getting rid of after a few years. As far as where actual development is taking place, my impression over the last year has been that there's Siyang/SY and "LR.Team" over on the official (Chinese language) Lenovo forums; he does the kernel development on Mokee and uses that to make ports of popular-in-east-Asia ROMs like Flyme, MIUI, H2OS and sometimes a build or two of AICP or Resurrection Remix, but they're just pet projects for him to play with and he doesn't actually support or keep updating them, and they tend to always have something broken or crashing. Mokee seems to be in perpetual development in much the same way.
zukfans.eu as a community is an interesting mix of the "wild east" of development from China (at least that's where you'll tend to find leaked development builds and basebands being mirrored in English first), occasional resources coming out of Russia, and links to XDA threads that follow the development of things you're already aware of here.
Really, it would appear that the primary actual development on the Z2 Pro is being done by @davidevinavil and @cosmedd with some assistance from others, so AEX and LineageOS. I'm not sure who the guy is that released CosmicOS, other than that he also seemed to release some other ports of other ROMs for the Z2 Pro over the last couple weeks but may not actually be doing original development so much as has got a good compiling environment and some understanding of how to get things to build for the Z2 Pro -- which is still pretty impressive!
I have a Z2 Pro (Z2121), and I got my wife a Z2 Plus (Z2131). I will say that now that we have AEX and LineageOS, it's a lot easier to recommend the Pro... the screen is pretty, sure, but since we're living on the edge with unlocked bootloaders and custom recoveries & ROMS, the things that really make it better are the on-board UFS storage and USB3 connection. Doing nandroid backups in TWRP and transferring internal memory to/from the computer is SO FAST compared to the Plus, which is just eMMC storage and USB2 connection speed.
Anyway, the Z2 Pro isn't being manufactured any more, so quick, grab a Snapdragon 820 with 6GB DDR3-LP memory and 128GB UFS storage and an AMOLED screen for $300 that runs Oreo 8.1 and can run rooted and still pass SafetyNet with a little help from Magisk while you still can. Also, definitely get a good case for it... I've already had to replace the rear glass on mine once, and don't look forward to trying it again.

Well explained @Terminator.Thank you.
Also, have you SEEN the actual forums over there on the Z2 Plus side? Check out the last few days of the AEX 8.1 thread... It's a colossal dumpster fire of people asking the same questions over & over and making demands about "fixing" things... Makes the Pro forums look like a paradise of polite folks who know how to use the search feature and attach a logcat (and that's saying something).
Hey everyone, so I obviously have the Note 8 with Oreo on Verizon... Wish I never updated past v3 but I did, so sucks 4 me!!! But rn I got my setup running smooth with Sungstratum "Pitchblack" & Samsung Night Theme 4.7 Black Notifications along with my little system mods thru Substratum & what not... Is it worth it to update? Theres still no black theme yet for Pie, correct? Again I'm not rooted or anything... Thanx for the advice ahead of time, if any ??
So far, I'd say yes. Better notification system, dark mode in the menus, easier to handle only with one hand, battery at least for me seems a bit better, getting security patches every month and a few more things I can't remember.
Haters will hate...but for me it seems a positive change.
Plenty of black themes plus a built in night mode.
Just check out removed features before you flash.
No 3rd party call recording etc etc
If you are using any mobile banking apps, I would highly recommend it as it Pie would include all of the latest OS updates.
Yes its worth i agree with some people about functions which is removed but all this you can have if you flash custom rom

Good Morning,
i have no technical background but using software and Hardware. Keep hardware for a long time.
Joined as I replace with a xperia 1 .
I like the new phone and was happy with the price, but it has a catch.
I purchase a SO-03L Version with a disgustingly infected(couple dozen of stupid unisntalable apps &n services NTT DOCOMA operating system.
I like to use it via the german Vodafon network.
The device is sim UNlocked
I always would liked to use my phone with a selfchosen clean OS and as want to use the chance of the the device to try a custom os ( lineage OS or maybe the Pixel rom).
I am well aware that most Information are most likely already publish within this forum but I yet struggle to gather them to feel confident about flashbooting my precious device.
Anyhow, if anyone could direct me to the right thread or would even be willing to assist me via dm or similar I would appreciate it.

Moin,
curious about how active the community is. After using the phone "branded" by NTT, I still like the hardware, but the spammy and messy OS doesn't spark joy at all + I am struggling to connect to my german vodafone network without further steps.
even tho I did quite a bit of reading into custom forms, I never ever installed flash tool etc in the fear bricking my precious phone Had a fight with my girl and will proof this evening that I am capable of making that phone my phone.
I will gather and sort my steps and publish them here, if it work smoothly it will be documented and if I was a fool and f*** up to follow not even a dozen step manual, I deeply wish some veteran slides into my notifications >oo<

EDIT: JUST CHECKED comments and seems working with emma method so won t work with phones post 2017 ( ITHINK?)
NOTE: MY Last phone died a epic death of touchscreen and I a couldn't recover much data any way. so I did some backup, but it ain t worth a lot.
New Phone new life:-D
I am concerned as in XDA Thread ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/can-i-fash-xperia-1-so3l-to-global-rom.4436503/ )
the SO 03L brought up issues even tho some solve it with"poking the fingerprint sensor")^^
Step 1: Get smooth
Using a Dell xps 14 Win 10 connected to wlan and electricity and the phone is charged by 99%
No SIM no sd card card
USB C cable is proudly "donated" by an SCAN DISK sdd harddrive so should be a decent enough.
Next Step. BACK UP and factory reset
Another check for SIM LOCK issues and note of the IMEI
