Hi,
I recently bought a T-Mobile MDA Vario III from T-Mobile Netherlands.
Visiting the US I discovered this phone does not support 3G in the US.
My US colleague liked the phone so much, and had a look at the AT&T Tilt. The big difference is ofcourse the missing frontcamera, but this one works in the US on 3G. Are there any AT&T Tilt users here that have tried that phone in Europe and/or Asia and got 3G or HSDPA there ?
I suspect there are different versions of this phone around with different frequency support. Or should I have bought a HTC version, are they possibly enabled to use 3G in both US, Europe and Asia ?
Any hints to enable 3G on my phone while visiting the US would be appreciated !
Regards,
Taco
Umm, unless the Vario III is crippled (in terms of frequencies supported), the Kaiser supports all currently 3G frequencies worldwide - 850, 1900, 2100MHz. I used my TyTN II in Korea (2100) and obviously in the US (850/1900)...According to gsm.org, Netherlands TMo uses 2100 also.

T-Mobile USA does not yet have 3G. They'll be on the the new bands someday (and your Kaiser doesn't support those bands). Most likely you'd find yourself on the T-Mobile network with GSM-only.
If you want 3G in the US, you'll probably need to purchase a prepaid card from AT&T...
I can swith to the AT&T network with no problem, still only Edge....
What I am suspecting is that 3G is on different frequencies/bands in the US, and the european models don't support them ....
Question still remains: has a AT&T Tilt user been to Europe or Asia and saw that 3G worked there ? My colleague wants to buy one ...
Thanks !

The Tilt defintiely works in Asia and Europe. And I'm fairly certain that the Vario III will work on 3G in the US as well.

This is conjecture on my part, but I'll bet that T-Mobile Europe and AT&T do not have a 3G roaming agreement in place in the US...
Hi All,
I currently live in the USA and I have a AT&T branded Kaiser and a Hyperdragon III BlackStone ROM on T-Mobile USA network.
I know that the phone does not actually support T-Mobile's USA 3G network but could anyone tell me if I can take advantage of the European 3G networks with this phone? I'll be travelling in the UK and Spain and would really like to use it as amodem for my laptop when there is no wifi around.
Any info would be appreciated
anyone know?
Hello All,
I have brought an unlocked HTC HD7 (T-Mobile) from USA and according to the specs given at HTC US site, It says that it supports UMTS 2100 and AWS 1700/2100 band for 3G.
Can anyone confirm on having used HTC HD7 (T-Mobile) in India on Tata DoCoMo or BSNL network for 3G?
Thanks
Shaju
well, i already bought mine from us and i use it in Saudi Arabia with no problems at all with 3g, just to be sure contact your telecom company and ask them if it is supported or not.
regards
Theoretically, yes, it should work.
I'll be giving it a shot on Vodafone (in Mumbai) once they launch their 3G service, shortly, but if anyone else has confirmation, that'd be great to know.
Hello saud_19, what is 3g band used by your service provider? Is it UMTS 2100 or AWS 1700/2100?
Thanks,
Shaju
well Shaju, unfortunately i am not sure but i think it is 2100.
: )

Hey Shaju,
Did u try the HTC HD7 bought in US? Did it work? Did u face any issues?
Regards

Most likely you wont get much out of your HD7 cellphone in india..
you will be combarded with spam because thats where all the marketing place is ring ring and they spam you with advertice. Infact indian doesnt have the best coverage at all... its a poor country to beging with.
Its best you buy a phone that works in your town and that make sure it has coverage all over with your local provider.

First of all lemme tell you all, that HD7 works great in India, got hold of one in Nov last year and have been using it with impressive results.
There are some issues with the marketplace, but a workaround is available.
Secondly about India being poor, I guess this is not the forum to take offense, to what clearly is OFFENSIVE.
3g services are lagging, as its still in a nascent stage. I'm getting between decent to good speeds on Airtel 3g in Delhi
Cheers

Dumb-ass ignoramus comments.
A TMOUS HD7 will get 3G on 2100 band.
Great, this means I won't regret my impulse buy of a TMOUS HD7 last week.
It works too where I live, we a UMTS 2100 network. But speed sucks!! think it does not support hsdpa speeds on UMTS 2100 networks cuz mine cant get pass 35KB/s download speed
According to PocketNow.com, the Bell Canada HD7 will work on both AT&T UMTS/HSPA bands (850 and 1900).
They claim it is available from Negri Electronics for about $700.
If true, this could be better than Telstra HD7 which only works on one AT&T UMTS band.

Thats correct. You can buy it in any Bell store here in Canada for $599 + tax or find one on craigslist BNIB for $450 - $550. I just bought mine yesterday and am using it on Rogers wireless 3G (which is 850/1900 like AT&T).
thinking about getting a wp7 device. Anyone running the Bell Canada HD7 on AT&T? Its between this device (if it does indeed work) and the Samsung Focus. Need to find a new one for $500 shipped if possible.
Dell Streak powered by Streakdroid 1.8.0
Man I got rid of my HD2 for a samsung and would love to go back to that form factor regardless of the screen brightness. Anyone interested in a trade for their Bell HD7 for a At&t Samsung Focus? Great device just miss my HD2.
I am using Bell's HD7 with a South American carrier!!! )) 850 3G
Does the bell version still have netflix in the marketplace?
Sent from my Liquid Metal using XDA Premium App
Yes, Netflix is in the marketplace.
Hi all sorry for my english
I would love to purchase the new Lumia 1520 but not easy to find here in Canada.
Luckily I found one in a store but was told its the international version that was released in Honk Kong she also told me it runs on the 2600hz or something like that
Is there a way for me to know 100% if it will support LTE here in Canada?
Thanks in advanced.
A) depends on the carrier
B) the bands that the phone supports, and the bands each carrier uses, are a matter of public knowledge. Look them up!
Hi, I'm from Turkey. A friend of mine had a BlackBerry 9900 formerly and it supports 3G. He had bought it from Europa, so in Turkey, although it supports 3G, doesn't work. He had to spin out using 2G.
