Problems with updating - Desire 626 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. I have the virgin mobile variant, with an unlocked bootloader and stock recovery. Everytime I try to update, it downloads, reboots and starts updating, but then stops and shows the phone with a red exclamation point and then boots back into system. Any ideas on why, or how to get the update to work? Thanks.

when u get red exclamation point that is your recovery mode this is when u have to press volume up and power key at smae time for about 3 sec to get into recovery options.

It fails. Then gives: failure to map file

I had the same issue with my AT&T 626. I ended up updating with the RUU from HTC's website.

The software says it can't read my phone, though it's read by the computer itself. Thanks though.

[q] [help] moto milestone bootloop at android logo

I have a Motorola milestone (second hand) and tried to load a update for it then i noticed the following problems:
- boot looping at the android logo
-when i tried going into bootloader i get a blank black screen
-when i go into recovery and try to update using "update.zip" i get a EOCD error and another time i get a authorization error
WHAT TO DO????
Come on dude,
Just search EOCD error, I think you will find at least 15 topics.
You lost root, Nedd to flash vulnerable recovery sbf. You will find latest instructions on nadalbak site.
You can find site inside his cm7 topic. Milestone android development.

i'm fairly new to the milestone side, the version that is on the phone is 2.2
Everybody's instruction is to put the phone in bootloader mode and connect to the pc but i only get a black screen and then the phone restarts hence rsd lite not picking it up
Put it in recovery and try to flash another sbf, it should work.
Trough rsd lite.
try that just now and still no response on the pc, and i know the usb port is working because i charged the phone
Are you sure your drivers for phone are correctly installed?
Explain correctly installed?
yeah so what about when i try going into boot loader and get a blank screen?
In the early development of moto driver's phone wasn't recognised by rsd lite.
I didn't hear of that problem anymore though. The solution was to reinstall / install drivers again or try on another pc.
Cable could also be a problem.
Are you trying to enter bootloader with the cable connected to phone? If yes try without and after connect it.
The cable isnt the problem, im sure of that and i tried on two other laptops but they are 64 bit windows 7 but anyways why when i press "power+vol up + camera" i only get a black screen and not black screen with other milestones?
I'm thinking thats the problem or reason why rsd lite not picking up the phone cuz its not in bootloader mode
Ahhh
It took some time since last used bootloader.
But I think is power + x for bootloader.
==== update ====
my bad that's for recovery
oky just tested:
it's power + up key from keyboard
now when i first pressed the power i got a black screen, so i pressed the power again while holding the up key .. and voila:
bootloader 90.78
battery ok
....
good luck ..
when this happened to me i was shocked so much , but then i got it fixed so yay
sigh was trying that from lastnight but no luck
Does anybody have a video to how this done because i'm wondering if i'm doing it right cuz i'm still getting black screen when trying to go into bootloader, i pressed "power + up button on DPAD" and then pressed the power button again but still black screen
While the phone is off, hold the up button on the D-pad and press the power button. Do not let go of the up button until the bootloader screen comes up.
while the phone is off? i can't turn off the phone because its just looping so i take out the battery then put it in and press up and power button so is that the right way?
Yes,
If it doesn't work, for pre 90.78 bootloader I think it was another combination of keys.
Google it
Got it all wrong, the problem was that a app was installed and then the phone was restarted then the looping start at the android sign
no luck, the ways i see is the same as urs

about the video:
found this on youtube:
bootloader:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjQcvg3Eplc
recovery:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3Vl9NbU6Ag&feature=related
if you enter recovery try wiping everything / factory reset and see if it get into android.
other than this i haven't got any other idea,
it is possible to reboot it with adb if you got a rom that supports adb at boot. ex CM7. cm6 and froyo rom not sure but this is a long shot.

Bootloop

I rooted my Xperia Z (via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186368) and it was working perfectly fine for quite some time... now it gets stuck in a bootloop every time I try and restart it.
So, the information that I have:
The device has a locked bootloader, I rooted it using DooMLoRD's thread, linked above.
It worked for a while. I installed Titanium Backup.
When I turn the device on, it gets stuck in a bootloop.
When I plug it into my computer and hold the vol +, I get a blue LED and nothing else.
When I plug it into my computer and hold the vol -, it flashes red then green very quickly, then the LED turns off.
Nothing happens if I tap the vol+ during boot.
I'm trying to piece things together from other threads on the forum, but to no avail.
I found a thread started by someone with a similar problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38669779), but he doesn't say how he eventually fixed it.
Could anyone give me some advice or step-by-step guidance on how I should proceed?
Thanks!
I am having the same Issue:
Locked bootloader (Three UK network - bootloader unlock allowed:NO)
Rooted, Then installed "recovery for locked bootloaders"
Tried to flash rom, gave error code 7 for the zip, flash failed.
Now bootlooping, Cant get green LED with volume DOWN, But can get blue LED....
I think the blue LED is for fastboot, and apparently that only works with unlocked bootloaders.... Is that correct ?

Never mind, now solved
It seemed, that when stuck on the Sony logo loop, If I held volume UP and power button (to force a restart) it would vibrate once, then immediately switch my finger to the volume down key (AND HOLD) the flashtool program would recognize the device in flash mode
(even though there was no green LED on the device indicating it was in this mode, IN FACT, the phone just looked like it was completely dead whilst i flashed it with Stock unbranded firmware... but it worked)
Moral of the story .. persevere !
Hope you sort your issue too

You can recover using flash tool. Use my guide to get your ftf if you don't have one and then you can reflash it in fast tool

Please help

I rooted my HTC One international and flashed Android revolution. At the end it said "you may have lost root, do you want to fix?" I selected Yes and now my phone is in a constant reboot where its shows HTC logo and then switches off and on and shows entering recovery and off and on again back to HTC logo.
How do I force it to switch off and are there any other recovery options?
Entirely wrong section, but try holding down the power and volume down key. When it shuts down keep holding the volume down key. Should get you to the bootloader. If it just keeps rebooting no matter what, when it shuts off hold the volume down key to get to boot loader. I've had a similar thing happen. If those don't work you can PM me and I'll try throwing some other options out there.
Thank you so much, that worked!
Sorry about posting in the wrong area. I was freaking out a bit about the boot loop and in that worried frame of mind I posted in the wrong place.
Back to the problem, I can get into the bootloader now and select fastboot and my computer can connect to the phone.
At the top of the bootloader it shows ***Tempered*** and ***unlocked***.
I re-flashed the recovery but I still can't get into recovery. It just shows entering recovery then the clockworkmod recovery screen shows for a split second and then it reboots.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

flash a TWRP recovery
I ran "Fastboot erase cache" and now I can enter recovery again.
I tried re-flashing the ARHD ROM which is still on the internal storage but when the phone reboots, it keeps going back into recovery.
I did create a backup of my original ROM before I flashed ARHd but when I go to restore in ClockworkMod, it just says "Could not open directory. No files found"
What should I do?
Ok I re-flashed superuser and then immediately flashed ARHD and now it's booting again.
Very relieved. Thanks for the help.
Mods, please move the thread for me.

Looks like you'll need to wipe your phone, make sure you have a backup of everything you need because everything on your phone will be lost otherwise :
Hold the Volume-Down button
Hold the Power button for around 10 seconds
Release the Power button (but keep Volume-Down pressed)
You should see something similar to this :
Use the Volume buttons to move around and the Power button to select "Factory Reset"

Yeah, that happens sometimes with stock recovery.. you need to try different moments for pushing the volume down button... and with some luck you'll be able to boot into the bootloader

Cannot enter recovery, download mode, or boot after Verizon OTA

Good Evening,
I mistakenly accepted the OTA update from Verizon yesterday, after putting it off. My phone is rooted, and shows the 'boot certification verify' error when attempting to go into Recovery or boot the phone. Every time I shut my phone off and turn it on I get to the LG Logo with the aforementioned error.
I am not new to flashing, and have searched the forum and found threads on flashing back to the stock ROM and recovery. I have downloaded the *.kdz file, VZW LG Drivers, and the LG Flash Tool. The ONLY thing that is holding me back is getting my phone to boot into download mode. It seems to bypass the method when I press and hold the Volume up (+) button and insert the USB cable. It jumps straight to the LG Logo with the 'boot certification verify' error.
Does anyone have any input? Thank you for your time in read this.
