One more thing , i don't want any jobless people , complaining that this is a useless thread !! .This tread has been started in the goodwill of helping newbies !!
Q:What is difference between i9100G and i9100 ?
A:i9100 was released first my Samsung as International Galaxy SII
Then due to overheating problems and battery drain issues ,
They replaced it with a new model named i9100G .
Major difference is in hardware .
More into details ,
i9100 uses Mali400MP (GPU) & Exynos Chipset (CPU)
i9100G uses PowerVR SGX540 (GPU) & TI OMAP 4430 Chipset (CPU)
Because i9100G was released later , it doesn't have that much support from a developers , compared to i9100 .
Q:Should i buy i9100 or i9100G ?
A: IF you love installing ROMs , playing with it , developing and tweaking your phone for more performance ,
Then you should go for i9100 , or you will regret !!
If you are a business man and u want good performance and battery life ,
You should go for i9100G , or you will regret !!
Q:Can i install i9100 ROMs on my i9100G ?
A:No , DO NOT INSTALL , or you will get a BRICKED phone !!
Q:What is ROOT ?
A:In the unix/linux world root is the super user that can do anything on the system. In the windows world the user is called Administrator. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rooting_(Android_OS)for a more detailed
Q:What are the advantages of rooting ?
A:Install Custom Rom , remove bloatware , Overclocking , Backup apps and many more.
Q:What are the disadvantage if rooting ?
A:Your warranty is now void !!
Q:How to root my i9100G ?
An Ginger Bread (Android v2.3),You can root your i9100G by flashing Superatmos kernel,Lucifr kernel , through Odin .
On ICS (Android v4.0.4) , You can root by flashing SuperICS Kernel or LP7 kernel from Codeworkx
for detailed instruction , go to : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679778 (Thanks to Jiangyi )
Q:How to unroot ?
A:By flashing stock firmware !!
Q: What is Kernel ?
A:In computing, the kernel is the main component of most computer operating systems; it is a bridge between applications and the actual data processing done at the hardware level.
Q:How to flash Kernel ?
A:Using ODIN program .
Q:What is Stock ROM ?
A:A stock ROM is the version of the phone's operating system that comes with your phone when you buy it.
Q:What is Custom ROM ?
A:A custom ROM is a fully standalone version of the OS, including the kernel (which makes everything run), apps, services, etc - everything you need to operate the device, except it's customized by someone in some way.
Q:So what does the "customized" part mean?
A:Since Android is open source, developers are free to take stock ROMs, modify them, strip them of garbage, optimize them, add things, and pretty much do whatever their imagination and skills allow.
Q:Is there a Custom rom for i9100G ?
A:Yes there a few custom roms for i9100G , based on GingerBread (Android v2.3) , such as SuperROM , Prometheus ROM , Dark ROM , and a few others !!!
As for ICS (Android v4.0.x) Roms , CM9 nightly builds are available !! Thanks to Codeworkx
&
And as for Jelly Bean (Android 4.1.x) , AOKP ROM BUILD 40 is now available for i9100G !! Thanks to fuss132's hard work .
and CM10 preview is available for i9100G
Most important part is that you dont flash i9100 ROMS on your i9100G , as that might result in a brick !!!
Q: How to install the custom rom ?
A:Go to respected threads !!
For CM9 , Go to : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583091
For AOKP Build 41 , Go to : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710679
Q:What is a BRICKED phone ?
A:When used in reference to consumer electronics, a "brick" describes an electronic device such as a smart phone, game console, router, or tablet computer that owing to a serious misconfiguration, corrupted firmware, software, or a hardware problem, can no longer function .
Q: Can i repair my Bricked phone ?

You can use any kernel found in this forum. Method of rooting is same but make sure you are using kernel for 'G' model only, otherwise you'll end up bricking your device.
I recommend you use doomlord's method, for your first root..

Maybe you should go with superatmos kernel !!
A little mistake
Hello ashwinsrihari,
Based on what you said in the first post, "Q: Can i repair my Bricked phone ?
A: Yes , with a help of USB JIG" , Bricked phone cannot be repaired with Usb JIG , it will only work if the Download Mode is unreachable through 3 botton combination. Bricked phone can only be repaired by Jtag.
A little question mates, im now in 2.3.6 I9100GXEFLB1 , rooted with superatmos kernel, XXLA1.
To install the new ICS or CM9 when its released, i should turn back to stock kernel flashing it, or i can install CM9 flashing it directly?
MY BASEBAND VERSION IS I9100GXXKL4, WHICH ONE Of THE KERNEL VERSIONS SHOULD I USE?

I see.. Yesterday I saw my friend reset his counter by using jig (he is 9100)
Then I tried on my G version, no luck.. That means for now now, G users have no way to clear the binary counter right?

Install :
only on SDE recovery !
extract zImage & initramfs.cpio.lzo from archive Kernel_ics_3.0.21
put your device in SDE mode ;
check Flash kernel & initramfs ;
copy here zImage and initramfs.cpio.lzo

- make sure that when something new appears, and I will have time , I will not hesitate to bring some versions already established.
Good luck ! :good:
I've installed over the AOKP (250G, turbo, 8"). Seems to be ok regarding the speed.
But, after 10..15 minutes of sleeping, the tablet don't wake-up. I have to log press the power to power off and power on again.
And the process is reproducible,
I installed it and my G9 didn't boot anymore with 4.0.7 deodexed. Installing a different kernel didn't bring it to life again, so i needed to reformat.

I installed the firmware 4.0.24 after being formatted, installation ok I then installed the SDE official, I then copied the image ext4 deodexed version 4.0.7, I have to restart developer edition, j 'I flashed the kernel Surdu petru redemarer the tablet on Developeur edition, the first start and stay on the archos logo for a minute. everything works the only problem score and I / O remains of 758 with 4.0.7 and kernel 4.0.24 surdru while a score I / O 4500 I do not understand a pourquoi.merci sudru for work
I Surdu petru, I might just be me, but you might want to double check the kernel version in the zip file is correct, I downloaded, unzip and flash, uname -a reported being 3.0.8+, I checked again and the same again...... Then I flashed a 3.0.21 kernel that I had built myself and that's alright.

If I understand correctly, you've used 3.0.21 Sources with a 3.0.8 .config? Fair enough.... A normal 3.0.21 could probably be made to work with 4.0.7 rom, Your difference would probably lie in the powervr drivers which archos split out on the new kernel..
No Matter, Like I say I ended up flashing my own...... Just thought it a little strange :good:

I've also had this problem on the same 4.0.7 rom (deodexed), possible incompatibility ?

hello xda developers team
i am really excited to be a part of this big community ..... anyway i really need a big favor of one of the great developers regarding multi booting procedure on my samsung galaxy note gt-n7000 :
i tried the Dual Boot 5Roms G-Note [TW, CM9&CM10] method but it seems old enough for the official jelly bean update from samsung .... so can anyone help me to successfully multi boot these roms :
1. samsung official jelly bean 4.1.2 LSB - UAE : As my main rom
2. Sweet rom ICS 4.0.4 v5 : Secondary , Mainly to use it with the amazing garmin street pilot 1.49 until jelly bean version stabilize
3. Cyanogen Rom jb 4.2.2+ : as to be kept up to date with this amazing rom
i usually install excess roms on internal sdcard rom1 and rom 2
the main problem i think is with dual booting jb and ics ,,,, i tried too many kernels already ,,, about 80% of those in the [JB][ICS][GB] Kernel Repository actually but nothing seems to be dual boot - able with an easy method !!
i can dual boot between ics roms just fine when i was on ics samsung and sweetrom v5 , only menu press while booting is reqiured
i can boot official jb with 17.03.2013 - PhilZ-cwm6 v4.89.4 with CWM 6.0.2.9 based recovery just fine , or speed mod kernel k5-1 and k5-2
when i need to go to ics : the nightmare starts by flashing Chuan_Dualboot_Aroma_v2.3c.zip and mounting the 2nd rom partitions and then flashing Chuan_Dualboot_Aroma_v2.3c.zip AGAIN to setting default rom on rom1 sdcard and flash a dual boot kernel then reboot !
i really need to dual boot with the easiest way possible and never to flash kernels all the day for switching from a rom to another !!
by the way : 2nd and 3rd roms seems to have only 0.96 gb of data storage ,,,, this sucks actually because i usually use about 1.34gb Without garmin sp which takes up to 180mb additional on the data partition ,,,, so this is a problem too !! , i really would like to have an option for 1.5 - 2gb data partition allocation , please no talking around for and link2sd or other stuff cause i am a really heavy torrent user on my 32gb microsd card and would like every thing separated as possible !
btw : i never tried Cyanogen Mod before but when dual boot is good enough between those two roms ( jplsb-uae , sweet rom v5 ) i might take a look at it ...
thanks for taking time and reading my post !
yours
sniper9911
one more thing
i also found another thing that bothers me A LOT !!
when i try to do a restart from sweet rom v5 ics 4.0.4 ( which is on sdcard rom1 ) and device shuts down then galaxy note logo appears ..... sometimes after that it hangs at a black screen consuming alot of battery .... i could never get this ics rom to boot afterwards until i did this :
i managed to go to cwm vol up + power + home and then flash philz jb kernel , boot jb rom , restart , go to recovery again , mount sd rom 1 partitions , set boot properties , flash hydracore 4.3 std kernel ( which i always flash no matter what , i tried the oc version which worked because my note voltage is group b but too much battery consumption made me revert back to std ) and finally reboot and choose to boot from sd rom 1 !!
what i am missing here ?!
thanks anyway
sniper9911
I have the same wish
Hi! I have the same wish as you, i need dual boot for The Official Samsung Android 4.1.2 with TouchWiz and also with SlimWizz2 wich has a tablet interface with TouchWiz also, but i couldn't manage to dualboot them. I also wanted to dual boot them with xperiaNote but no way ! We need a kernel for dualbooting TouchWiz based ROMs, one to work as Siyah kernel...i hope someone will hear us...

I would like that too ,,, Wait i have an idea !
can we get a hand with a script by our beloved developers to mount partitions, flash kernels , and reboot using chaundualbootaromav2.3.zip in the dual boot menu derctly ! ,,,, in this way every time we press on the rom we want we can boot to it very fast
i would like to choose which kernel to flash and to change the boot menu name for my rom too ,,, using this way we can multiboot GB , ICS , JB , and CM 4.2.2 too ... but the kernels needs to be modified to be multiboot-able !
i love the speed of hydracore v7 on sweetrom v5 ,,,, the same speed as a note ii and very aggressive too ( 874mb ram ! ) but the video support sucks actually on this rom plus the camera drivers needs to be modified last picture taken on stays on the screen ,,, but its okay even if it is stayed just like that , just add dual boot support please !
I noticed an exciting thing too with the latest hydracore ,, when you play where's my water , where's my perry it seems silky smooth at first and a lot of physics particles with higher resolution appears ( i would say like note ii but i have never played it on that monster ! ) ( and when alot of water particles are on screen you get arount 10 - 7 fps ) and it seems no matter what you do battery does really suck on this kernel ,, talking about standard version here for sure
one more thing about hydracore v7 : when i play games with this amazing kernels it seems to be consuming the battery in a way that i experienced a very strange thing : battery low notification appears on my screen while playing so i plug my ( 2A , 5v output ) charger from samsung and the battery seems to get lower values ( as if the charger is not enough or the device doesnt benefit from it ) as long as i am playing ( i.e : using gpu , cpu together ) ,,, i think this is a fault by this kernel
also i would like speedmod kernel k3-15 for stable usage and it charges while playing but i misssed the huge performance gap between speedmod and hydracore v7
If anyone can help us we would appreciate it too....
any ideas ?
any ideas guys ?
please devs .... help us here
still waiting

Woah! Don't disappoint me bro, we will get the siyah kernel, there was a talk of that too. Siyah is a very good kernel not just for a dual boot but also the other capabilities. Wherebdid u see that note won't have the siyah kernel?
Well, the title says it all, what do you think is the best rom + kernel combo when you're talking about battery life. (4.3 or 4.4)
SOKP 4.4.4 , F2FS Formatted + Art enabled + AGNi kernel with 60mv undervolting and battsave profile , i can get two days easily, no perf loss , i get ~20000 in Antutu , 22000 with oc @ 1700mhz and performance mode

Hey man, first i flashed SOKP and directly after that the AGNI anyrom aroma 2.8.1 kernel but first the aroma installer didn't work right and after i finally installed the kernel i had a bootloop, you know what to do about this problem or is a boeffla kernel maybe a better alternative?
The actual AGNi got a bootloop problem , take this one , the 2.8.0 is the last working one : PSN_pureCM_11_ANYROM-AROMA-v2.8.0_I9305_OC-signed.zip
and forgive the f2fs idea , to do a format it's plenty of **** , none of the recoveries work (excepted the one twrp made by psndna) some kernels are uncompatible , only activate ART, choose the battsave profile in AGNI kernel manager and get the cpu undervolt to -50 mv (if you're having issues , only go to -40 )

That one worked, thanks! The battery is pretty good right now but there's one big problem, my screen freezes once in 15 minutes with this rom, it's really weird... I am the only one with this problem?

Thanks for the tip,but i really started hating 4.3, so i think i'll stay with 4.4, thanks tho!
Hi. Currently under Slimkat 4.4.4 for approx one week. I last a bit more than two days, with no specific optimization. The best match for me so far.

These kinds of threads are against the rules. It is offensive to developers to start comparing and criticising other ROMs (whether you realise you're doing it or not).
If you were clever, you'd start a "what kind of battery life do you get from your installed ROM?" thread. This is within the rules, not prompting comparisons, but would yield useful information as people show their battery stats, kernel settings and installed ROM... then you can choose yourself.
Or you could just download some ROM's and test them yourself... What works best for others may not work best for you due to differences in how you use the device.
Thread closed as its a Best ROM/Kernel thread.

What about other devs?
Rohan made the device source. Without him, you woudn't have any rom or any kernel. I heard even dt2w credit on kernels goes to him.
