I cleared the cache partition as some forums says but still getting the unlock freeze issue.
Please i need a final solution regarding this issue.
It's a TouchWiz bug. The latest update has tried to fix it but sometimes it continues to occur. We have to wait next update...
since the last update never seen it happen again.
have you updated your phone to the latest update?

After completing the update and successful rooting I am experiencing many issues throughout my devices that I have not ran into on previous updates.
The main problem is that every 5 - 10 minutes my device freezes for a few seconds then reboots itself.
I have tried many things t fix this. Flashing back to NCE then updating again to OA1 and Factory Reset after rootation still did not seem to fix. I've tried Unformat my external SD card and turning off auto sync. Still no fix.
Other problems I am having are thing such as applications beginning to force close. Even the google keyboard gets this problem every now and then.
After my device was updated and rooted I did the usual and clean it up as I did on previous versions and never had this problem until now.
I updated my moto x4 from Oreo to pie using flash using boot loader. my boot loader is still locked and software status is official too. It still is unable to update to January security update. Please help !!
yes I have also facing same issue... i have also try by safe mode but shows something not right .... reconnecting to server... might be Moto update Services try to connect moto server which has not able to connect due some issue in server... hope so this is issue...
you can connect to moto support team let me know what they are say for this issue.
They told to reset and try again.. to do that I got to backup my data which LL take time.. so on hold as of now
Yup, same here. I got the Android 1 Google Fi model (Bootloader unlocked, unrooted). I'll try again in a week and see if it resolves itself.
And another ~ bought 2, mine showed the update 3 days before my wife's but won't start (download and install now, via wifi only and it reverts back to the settings screen). She got the notification last night and it took first try. First time I've had this issue in the 4 months I've had the phone, just glad I'm not alone here....
Since you're official/fully stock, there's not really any alternatives besides factory reset or await for full image is available to manually flash via fastboot method. You do not need to unlock long as you stick with motorola firmwares. Links in FAQs thread.
Nothing new here? Mine keeps nagging me to do the update, start it and it shows getting to 17% on step 3 of 6, then just kicks me back out to the setting screen.
This is my first android phone (from a flip), couldn't get lineageos to work with my provider (RedPocket) and have neutered as much of the google crap as possible. Right on down to disabling all permissions for Play Store. Could that be part of my issue?
It has been nagging me since last few weeks, no solution apparently
New Update:
Could actually able to fix the issue by installing a vpn and set it as a USA based server.
My phone was bought in US and I was using it elsewhere. After using an USA based IP it downloaded the update and voila.
Yesterday afternoon I received a 2.3 GB update, which turned out to be the security patch for April. It installed normally but immediately started causing system and app failure. The problem arises when scrolling, as if the update time on the screen is reduced. It is a continuous stutter. I have restored the factory settings and the problem persists. Did something similar happen to them? Solutions? The truth is, I don't know what to do anymore. Will it be hardware? The phone has 3 months of use and prior to the update it worked perfectly.
Sorry if my post violates any forum rules, I'm new to this.
You could try going in to the system update again. Then click the menu top right and download latest package and try flashing it again
hey guys, post here because is the most active forum from xz2 and xz2 compact, i have both of these phones one with unlocked bootloader and the other stock, but with the lastest google play services update both phones gets into bootloop after restarting for apply the update, so im stuck on may 2020 update bacuase august 2021 update briks my both phones. Have you face this issue? do you know what to do to avoid it?
Since when do you need to reboot for a google play service update? Never heared before
Yeah, mine just started bootlooping with a play system update today, even though I already had august patches.
EDIT: it somehow fixed itself after 20/30 boot attempts
Yes, there is such a problem, gogle play updates are in Security, it is treated after a couple of reboots, but does not solve the problem sony xz2 h8266
I have same problem, trying fix this with Xperia Companion, refresh last firmware update, with reset all settings. Nothing helps, but phone start after 20\30 boot attempts like marcogiannetta said.
it happen with me either and after fix it with Companion it got same problem so , I fix it again and stop auto update but nothing stop the stupid error .. any suggestion ?
I have the same problem :-(
If it bootloops, patiently wait for 20-30 bootloops, it will eventually boot into the OS.
Then enable developer options and disable automatic system updates..
It's the only way to prevent the error so far.
Still waiting for the real solution to this problem...
The Play system update has been took down so we are now stuck on may 2020 update :/

Did the issue fix itself?
I am encountering the same issue and looking to know if it is a phone thing or an update issue.
I factory reset the phone but the issue is still occurring.
I tried downgrading to 12.5.3 but it didn't work. Seems like roll back is prohibited at my phone.
The issue stopped occurring for approx 9 days and yesterday without doing anything it started reoccuring and has not stopped since.
The issue keeps reoccurring even in safe mode.
I am totally confused. I don't know what to do
The same issue with mine also after updating to 12.5.4. The phone can't be used while every 2-3 minutes disconnects from network. Any ideas?
