I have had my Nexus 6 since April now. I noticed this around August, but every time the phone reaches 4 hours (or around that time, give or take 10 minutes) it will automatically hang up. I thought it wasn't my phone until I tested it, and it has done so when I've called three different phones and reached that point with the exact same result. I am on AT&T's network in the United States using the AT&T branded phone. It happened on Android 5.1.1 and still happens on Android 6.0 (which I updated to by unlocking bootloader, flashing, etc.). I am currently on stock Android 6.0 build number MRA58K. Any suggestions or fixes?
Are you sure AT&T isn't saying "WTF?" and disconnecting the call for you?

It's quite possible! But still, it's a bug that needs addressing.
Do you know if this has happened to you or anyone else on AT&T? Might want to call them up if so
This might be failsafe.

here in Egypt all the gsm networks will end the call when it reach the 1 hour duration
kindly test using another mobile to make sure it is not network related

I just received my 32 GB Nexus 6 that I purchased on the Motorola store and I have not been able to successful activate it on Sprint. When they activate the phone both LTE and 3g work perfectly, but I am unable to make or receive calls and SMS . When talking to sprint they show that the device is activated correctly and can not find a reason why it would not work. Currently i am waiting on sprint to work a ticket for this issue, but I was wondering if any one else has run into this and if so were and how were you able to get it resolved.

possibly due to wifi calling enabled on your line?
after activating mine over the phone and watching my phone "update device config" by itself.. When I finally decided to make a phone call 30 mins later and noticed it not working.. I had to go under carrier settings and "update device config" a few times before my calling finally started working.. since then everything had worked fine..

Sprint does not have WiFi calling to my knowledge, if they do I have never used it or enabled it.

I have been through that so many times and no luck. The only thing I can think of is the IMEI whit listing issues I have been reading about with the CDMA carriers.
Just in case any one else is having this issue or considering buying a Nexus 6 from Motorola to use with Sprint I wanted to follow up with how this ended.
After a week of going back and forth with Sprint, talking to them at least once a day and having multiple tickets opened and closed they were not able to provide a solution. The final answer they gave me was that the IMEI was not compatible with Sprint, even though the phone should be. They then continued to say that unless the phone is purchased from them they can not guarantee it will work and suggested I return the Motorola purchased phone. In the end the phone was more important to me than being a Sprint customer, and luckily I was in a position to leave Sprint after being a customer for 12 years. After porting my number over to AT&T my Nexus 6 is now working perfectly.
I can't say this will be an issue for all users purchasing a Nexus 6 from a seller other that Sprint but it is something to consider before doing so.

That sucks man, well I ported my # over to Sprint from Verizon and mine activated just fine - then again I didn't order mine from Motorola. I don't know your situation is a bit ridiculous though maybe your nano sim needed to be replaced..

That is one of the first things we tried. I honestly thing it has something to do with the IMEI white listing but that is just my conclusion from reading other articles regarding similar issues.

Sucks op. My Moto bought n6 64 activated just fine in a few minutes last night while chatting with Sprint international chat.

Has anyone else been missing calls occasionally with the Nexus 6 on sprint? I seem to miss atleast one or more every day with it. It is very intermittent but it does happen, but it's not good because some of them are important calls.
Any information or help would be appreciated!

Are you using Google voice? Just curious because I've had it happen, but very rarely. By the way, check out my thread in general. Lots of Sprint users to ask.

It happens to me 2-4 times everyday on my Sprint Nexus 6 with Android 5.0.1 (latest OTA). I got Nexus 6 on Dec 22 and missed calls 3-4 times a day that I know of. It happened very intermittently especially when I'm connected to WiFi at home. I went to Sprint store and they said it could be network related problem and they opened a ticket. Sprint rap from store mentioned that it could be issue related to CSFB on Spark network. Sprint never called me back regarding the issue. I decided to returned with restocking fees (they refused to waive the restocking fee) and got the HTC One M8 and issue went away.
Yesterday (Jan 8) I had to buy new Nexus 6 and activated on my sprint account (for work related reason), BAM! the missing calls issue showed up right away. From my experiences, I've other Spark phones (S5, LG G3, HTC One M8) and this issue only happened on Sprint Nexus 6.
If it is CSFB issue, it should show up on my M8 and it did not. Looks like this issue is Sprint Nexus 6 and Sprint network since I don't see other people reported on other network like ATT, T-Mobile and Verizon.
I searched for "Nexus 6 missing calls" on google, you will see a bunch of people reported on Sprint Community forum and issue is still not resolved.
The only work around is to put the phone in 3G mode. The csfb issue is at fault,as said above. So you have to leave LTE off. Still waiting for a damn resolution.
Is this still an issue in today? Just curious

Before I switched to Verizon (thank God) I had no issues using my Nexus 6 on Sprint in mid 2016. You know, other than the typical Sprint issues like poor coverage, no VoLTE, frequent 3G or 1x signal rather than LTE, etc...
Hi
I am having a rough time finding the right phone. First I bought a oneplus one used it on Tmobile and had trouble with coverage AND wifi call wouldnt work because no Tmoble phone.
Then I got the Moto X and loved it, but on Verizon and no way to root. And back it goes.......
Now I am playing with the thought getting a Nexus 6.
Question 1 : I understand I can root that and it comes unlocked from T-mobile right? ( traveling a lot and need a phone I can slap a sim in while I am traveling).
Question 2. : can I after I rooted it still use the wifi call feature?
Thanks in advance
K
Yes to both of your questions. Though #2 will only be available here in the USA I think...

Once rooted wifi calling should still work. It has on every other T-Mobile device, at least that I know of. You can probably flash custom ROMs and kernels while keeping it as well, at least in theory.
That said, the Nexus 6 doesn't have wifi calling yet. It is supposed to come early 2015 in an OTA, but as of today there is no wifi calling feature on the Nexus 6. So if wifi calling as an extremely important factor, the Nexus 6 may not be for you just yet.

What ROM, kernel, mods, etc are you running? Is your APN set up correctly? This could be caused by a number of things.

Did you use the sim from another phone in the note 4 like I did? Or did you get a new sim when you got the new phone? I just talked to AT&T and they said my sim is not on their network, so I should go get s new sim tomorrow myself.

No sir. Used the new tmo Sim that came with the phone. Had the phone since launch, issues started a month ago.
The worst part is I can see all the networks, I just can't register to them!

I bought a note 4 from t mobile a month ago. My girlfriend got her s5 from them the next day. I have a cell tower less than 1 mile away serving up 4glte. Her s5 stays connected to 4glte constant and consistent. Note 4 will not stay connected to 4glte. It connects to G and mostly E. A royal PIA. I have to manually re-connect, sometimes several times to get back on 4glte. What I have done to try to fix: New SIM, Factory reset, Manual re-connect via T-Mobile. Also run with no apps.
Now keep in mind the tmo s5 is working perfectly.
Tmo's solution: Send them 20 dollars and they send me a refurbished phone(to replace my 1 month old flagship that hasn't worked right since day one).
F**k T-Mobile

I have been complaining for a month now. Got a new Sim and no fix. They are sending me a replacement phone for free. Tried to charge me $5 but I complained and they removed it.
Not sure the replacement will do anything but hoping for the best.
Try to ask more. Some agents seem more willing than others to assist.

All of the agents have been pretty good at attempting to remedy the problem up to phone replacement. My problem is they will not guarantee that I will receive a new unit. They have the refurb option which is complete bulls**t on a brand new phone. Especially when TMob separates the phone from the mobile plan. "Buy a new phone phone from us and if it doesn't work properly out of the box we'll send you some other persons problem for a slight fee" should be their slogan. And they are trying to pound on Verizon lol. I hope you get it working on your end. Good luck.
So I was going to go ahead and order a Pixel 5 but I'm reading on Reddit where several folks are reporting issues where they cannot make calls/texts using known working sim cards. Functionality resumes after reboot and then drops out either quickly after the reboot or at some unknown time. This is specifically on Mint Mobile but I've found a couple of instances on other carriers as well. It seems hardware related (when you know your sim was fine in your old device, what's the obvious point of failure....).
Has anyone here experienced this bug? Is anyone here having a great experience on Mint with the Pixel 5? I just left Fi and paid for 3 months on Mint so I'm dating this thing into 2021 at least.
I'd do a little more research before I write the phone off. A few isn't a fraction of the people using the phone and I doubt you'll get a lot of failure reports here.
I definitely don't want to write it off. I've already bought accessories before the phone. ?
I've been looking forward to it ever since the first leak. I just don't want a neutered experience until a patch comes.
I have Mint mobile on the P5 and it works great. 5G is not fully available in my area, but 5G does work on Mint mobile when I go into a 5G area.
Mint mobile is - T-Mobile.

Happens to me in the USA on AT&T (roaming). Call dials but never connects, then phone drops 4G data connection completely for several minutes before it recovers.
No issues if I force it to connect to T-Mobile.
can you add the link to this reddit thread? I bought a pxiel 5 for my wife and we're on Mint Mobile and occasionally she can't call out until she reboots the phone
