So I was going to go ahead and order a Pixel 5 but I'm reading on Reddit where several folks are reporting issues where they cannot make calls/texts using known working sim cards. Functionality resumes after reboot and then drops out either quickly after the reboot or at some unknown time. This is specifically on Mint Mobile but I've found a couple of instances on other carriers as well. It seems hardware related (when you know your sim was fine in your old device, what's the obvious point of failure....).
Has anyone here experienced this bug? Is anyone here having a great experience on Mint with the Pixel 5? I just left Fi and paid for 3 months on Mint so I'm dating this thing into 2021 at least.
I'd do a little more research before I write the phone off. A few isn't a fraction of the people using the phone and I doubt you'll get a lot of failure reports here.
I definitely don't want to write it off. I've already bought accessories before the phone. ?
I've been looking forward to it ever since the first leak. I just don't want a neutered experience until a patch comes.
I have Mint mobile on the P5 and it works great. 5G is not fully available in my area, but 5G does work on Mint mobile when I go into a 5G area.
Mint mobile is - T-Mobile.

Happens to me in the USA on AT&T (roaming). Call dials but never connects, then phone drops 4G data connection completely for several minutes before it recovers.
No issues if I force it to connect to T-Mobile.
can you add the link to this reddit thread? I bought a pxiel 5 for my wife and we're on Mint Mobile and occasionally she can't call out until she reboots the phone
There are several on the Mint Mobile Reddit page.

Has anyone else been missing calls occasionally with the Nexus 6 on sprint? I seem to miss atleast one or more every day with it. It is very intermittent but it does happen, but it's not good because some of them are important calls.
Any information or help would be appreciated!

Are you using Google voice? Just curious because I've had it happen, but very rarely. By the way, check out my thread in general. Lots of Sprint users to ask.

It happens to me 2-4 times everyday on my Sprint Nexus 6 with Android 5.0.1 (latest OTA). I got Nexus 6 on Dec 22 and missed calls 3-4 times a day that I know of. It happened very intermittently especially when I'm connected to WiFi at home. I went to Sprint store and they said it could be network related problem and they opened a ticket. Sprint rap from store mentioned that it could be issue related to CSFB on Spark network. Sprint never called me back regarding the issue. I decided to returned with restocking fees (they refused to waive the restocking fee) and got the HTC One M8 and issue went away.
Yesterday (Jan 8) I had to buy new Nexus 6 and activated on my sprint account (for work related reason), BAM! the missing calls issue showed up right away. From my experiences, I've other Spark phones (S5, LG G3, HTC One M8) and this issue only happened on Sprint Nexus 6.
If it is CSFB issue, it should show up on my M8 and it did not. Looks like this issue is Sprint Nexus 6 and Sprint network since I don't see other people reported on other network like ATT, T-Mobile and Verizon.
I searched for "Nexus 6 missing calls" on google, you will see a bunch of people reported on Sprint Community forum and issue is still not resolved.
The only work around is to put the phone in 3G mode. The csfb issue is at fault,as said above. So you have to leave LTE off. Still waiting for a damn resolution.
Is this still an issue in today? Just curious

Before I switched to Verizon (thank God) I had no issues using my Nexus 6 on Sprint in mid 2016. You know, other than the typical Sprint issues like poor coverage, no VoLTE, frequent 3G or 1x signal rather than LTE, etc...
I'm sorry if this is the wrong section but does XDA even have carrier specific sections? I tried Googling AT&T forums and XDA and pulled up nothing. Maybe I just didn't look hard enough but I thought I would ask here because this is somewhat specifically about the AT&T N6.
SO I'm loving my N6. Big upgrade from my old Sammy S3. I've totally gotten use to using the 6 inch screen and when I tried to use my Step-son's S3 the other day it seemed too small.
My only complaint is signal strength inside of various buildings I work in. I did get some dropped calls on my S3 but for the most part it was acceptable and I normally just send texts anyway and those normally always got threw.
I'm finding this is not so much the case on the N6 though. I noticed that I have a lot of time with no signal and texts don't even get out unless I go near a window.
I know AT&T had talked about Wi-Fi calling and I'm just wondering does the N6 support this? As the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus does, I assume the N6 does too. Has anyone seen any realistic ETA's on when AT&T might roll this out? I know they had thought maybe 2015 but I'm wondering if it's going to be sooner than later and I thought maybe someone who keeps up on AT&T carrier news or works for them maybe had heard rumblings.
I'm almost thinking about just getting a SIM for my S3 and putting a line on it just so I have a cell I can use in my various offices where my S3 had worked but now my N6 doesn't.
I have 7 different buildings I have an office in and I'm pretty much dead in about half of them! I'm always on the run so land-lines are worthless to me! Almost thinking about buying a Cisco VOIP portable phone to use over wireless.
Thanks!
The Nexus 6 doesn't support Wifi calling right now, but it is coming in a future update. Supposedly this update is coming in Q1, rumor is Feb, perhaps this is in the rumored 5.1 update that is supposed to arrive around the same time.
The info about wifi calling is mostly from T-Mobile though, so what that means for AT&T, unsure. I don't believe they offer it at all yet, just a "soon" sort of thing. Even once they offer it, I am unsure what that would mean for the Nexus 6 and AT&T. For example I don't think the iPhone 6's wifi calling works on Sprint, or well at least the last time I talked to a co-worker she said it didn't.
Also rumors are the same update will bring VoLTE which is a big deal to everyone except those on Sprint.

Need to know if the problem is with the phone or provider.
My husband went back to Sprint due to lack of coverage & these service issues.
We still have the same problems. Almost every time he calls me, regardless of where he is, the call does not go through. It rings a few times and then just drops or goes to voicemail, never ringing on my end or showing a missed call. On the 2nd or 3rd try it goes through and I get his call. Now this also happens when I call him. There are also many times when we connect but one of us cannot hear the other.
I am mainly at home, while he travels the U.S. as a truck driver. Tmobile did provide me with some type of signal booster for the house, but it doesn't seem to have really done anything to help with these issues.
We now are paying for 2 plans and for 3 Note 4 phones through Tmobile. This is hurting us both emotionally & financially. My husband hates to call me and our 10 calls a day has become much less & when we talk he is already upset having had to call me 2 or 3 times to get through.
At this point he wants me to join him on Sprint, but we are already paying more than when we left Sprint & we are by no means rich.... The worse thing is We are paying for 3 Note 4 phones that cannot be used with Sprint. I had to downgrade him to a Note 3. Worse I sold our Sprint Note phones when we moved to Tmobile. This is just such a nightmare.
I have to find a way to fix the issue or I will have to go buy another phone & go to Sprint & continue paying for Tmobile until all 3 phones are paid for
I had similar problems, you can try to turn off VoLTE, voice over LTE. What number has your signal transmit booster? How many bars has the receiver booster? How many bars you have without the booster?
Edit: Welcome to XDA!
wow that sucks... ive experienced similar issues. im pretty sure its a service problem. i cant imagine 3 different phones have the same problem but then again im in that exact situation. ( all 3 note 4s have the same issue). try putting you sim in an old phone and see if it clears up. try to isolate the problem to either the phone or service.

Well first it might be ur phone. If ur signal is not strong at home tell Tmobile and u will get a booster for your house. Also have them refresh u on network. On his end if he a truck driver T-Mobile nor any carrier covers all of the USA. You gonna have dead spots while driving thru ghost towns. If he is in major city then he should be good. No phone works every place. I have had them all and while traveling Verizon was the best but my ass bleed paying 400-700 a month for my phones as data was a killer. Now I don't travel as much and Tmobile has been great.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Thanks for replys... it was a defective phone!
I cannot believe after over 6 months with the same problem no one at T Mobile ever suggested it was the phone. in the very beginning they did replace the SIM cards our phones but it did not fix the problem. after giving it a lot of thought I realize that my phone was the common denominator in the problem. I put my sim card in our backup note 4 phone that my husband is obviously no longer using since he went to sprint. All weekend my service was fine. my husband was able to call me and get through and I was able to call him and get through every time. T Mobile is going to send me a replacement. Very happy that it wasn't the service and that I'm not going to have to switch to sprint which would have been a severe financial hardship for us. thank you to those who replied trying to help me with this issue. Much appreciated

BAD ASS NOTE 4
So I'm just reaching out to see if anyone else has had any weird issues like I am using Verizon on the OP 6T.
When the phone has full control over band steering it appears to hug on band 13 for its primary band even when band 4 has plenty of SNR (20 plus DB)
I know the cell config's in my area allow for dual band 4/66 primary 20MHz + 10 MHz and 1 Band 13 10MHz 3CA on most cell sites (confirmed on the cell site on testing on with a Pixel 3 XL).
I've also forced band 4 by disabling band 2 and 13 (the low bands) and it work's great!
It hinders upload performance by a decent bit, usually the cell config's only allow single channel uploads no 2CA around here so if it picks 13 for the primary I'm usually only getting about 15 Mbps up vs 50 ish on band 4.
Possible modem firmware bug?
I really don't understand what are you talking about xD
For sure about something wrong with Verizon signal in mid range (that is all I got).
I have the OP6T on Verizon in CA. Tell me what is that app and I can give you my results. So we can be sure that is not a problem with the phone (probably)
Cheers
I have no issues with my OP6T on Verizon. I got it day one and once I got the CDMAless thing straight, It works very well. I get a better signal at my house than I have with any Verizon phone before it. Mine seems to stick to Band 4 wherever it is available.
I have no issue with Verizon where I live. I never even had to call in to enable CDMA_Less. My phone hangs around LTE Band 13 and XLTE 4 most of the time. I live in a central city and there is good service anywhere so that may not be the case with you.
What app is That and how can we help test our area?
Edit, it is called Network Signal Guru in the app store, not sure what to make of it.
I use Network Info Lite in the past. But this is all above my head and knowledge what TS is talking about..haha

It is check box on your account that when the 6T launched you had to call and get a Verizon tech to do on your account. At first the Verizon system was not recognizing the devices correctly. Without them changing that you could not get MMS messages. I assume that is not needed anymore.

IDK, I had to call them, because my texts wouldn't work. Came from a Pixel and Essential phone with my Sim. Put it in the 6T 2 months ago, phone worked, calls, but not text. Called VZW, the person with support handled it immediately, powered the phone...all good after that. So not sure if people still need to call, but doesn't hurt. They are eventually moving to all CDMAless from what I understand in the future?!?!
I went to order a pixel 5 yesterday and all they had in stock were the Fi variants (ordered anyways), after some quick research I discovered that they were the same phone as the unlocked version. I'm a T-Mobile customer, with 2 numbers, one for personal and one for work. I read where some people have said the esim is tied to Fi, I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on that as my plan was to have T-Mobile activate the esim for one of my lines and using the traditional sim card in the slot. Anyone done this?
Also, I've read where they say 5g isn't an option with dual sims, yet I also read where changes were pushed to allow 5g with dual sims... Anyone have an answer on that as well? Thanks.

The only difference with the Fi phone vs. the Google one is who supports it. If you have a warranty replacement it will have to come from the Fi team and not Google. Weird but true. Otherwise they are exactly the same. That includes not being branded to any one carrier. If you have a Fi account when you set up your phone it will automatically download the eSim if you want but if you don't then just pop in your physical sim and you're off to the races. Then contact the provider for a scan code for the eSim. I've not done it with TM but with Verizon and all works easily enough. Get yourself a 5G sim too while you're at it.
Now the big question, lol, I do not have 5G with both my sims active.. yet. I do not have the December patch from VZW either so I can't say if the merged code made it into the patch. I've asked all around and no one even responds to my inquiries including Android Police and 9to5 who initially reported it from the XDA feed. But supposedly Monday I'll get the Dec build and know one way or the other.

Thanks for the reply. I assumed as much but you know what it's like after you do something, you begin to wonder lol. I do not have Fi, hopefully if I have an issue, that won't become one.
Hopefully the 5g on both sims made it into the update, or will be making it in shortly. I'm coming from a OnePlus 6t and dissatisfied with how OnePlus has been handling their updates. Phone gets great updates, timely and functional for 6 months, after that it's mainly focused on the newer models and the updates slow down but do still come, 12 months it starts to get left behind and now, they throw a security update at you occasionally. Been on lineage for a while and just decided spec wise, modern phones do all I care for them to do so the pixel 5 looked like a nice offering even if it's not "top of the line". We'll see I suppose.

You'll be happy with the phone. It's the right price, right size and battery lasts all day no matter what you do to it. At least for me, lol. There have been some issues with Fi support buy you really won't be dealing with them unless you have a hardware issue. As soon as I get the update on Monday I'll chime in here but you might get the device before that. Make sure you are there to sign for it as I've heard of some empty boxes arriving on doorsteps.
As for 5G if you need it you can toggle off a sim very quickly and bring it back online just as easily. If I toggle off my work number 5G pops right up. I don't usually do it but I will on the weekends sometimes. I don't find it any faster than lte at this point but perhaps TM is better the VZW. Then again I've yet to connect to the super duper 5G they are touting.

Yeah, I received the phone Sunday actually, surprised me they delivered then as it was scheduled for Monday. I wasn't home, they delivered it regardless, another surprise as tracking said signature required and I watched on my camera the FedEx guy walk up, put the phone by the door and walk away... Worked for me I suppose.
My time with the phone so far has been good. I'm coming from a OnePlus 6t that I was happy with the performance of the phone but it was starting to have gps issues and would drop calls fairly often. This phone is much smaller but I like it. I'm 6'4 with large hands but it still is a nice size. Performance wise, if I'm honest I can't really tell a difference. Sure, benchmarks likely would suggest different but I don't use them, I use the phone and in that regard, the pixel 5 is fine. Camera, even with it's aging hardware takes much better pictures. I can't comment fully on battery as of yet but then again my 6t would easily outlast my usage per day anyways.
