My at&t s6 edge is running on 5.0.2 OE2. It's rooted using pingpong root. Because of some reason I'm not able to create mobile hotspot. I wanna factory reset the phone but since it has locked bootloader and everything I'm scared to do so. What exactly will happen if I factory reset my phone? Do I need to unroot first?
anyone? pls help!
It will stay unlocked and rooted. However all of your apps, settings, and data will be deleted.
It resets your phone as if you just flashed a new rom.

Hi, I just flashed my firmware to JM9 and my phone where rooted before I did.
So I was wandering if my root acces where removed when I flashed the phone?
And how can I check if my phone is rooted?
EDIT:
I installed busybox which says my phone wasn't rooted. So I guees flashing firmware does remove root acces.
That's right when you flashing a new firmware, it's will cover the old things. but if you want to have a good results, before. You flashing a new firmware, you need to daily *2767*3855# refresh your phone and clear the data.
I unlocked bootloader flashed TWRP 2.6. both no problem. This was done with the help of qbking77 youtube. Made an unrooted backup then flashed super su. Went to root checker and says I'm not rooted. I got a message when I opened supersu saying something like I need to reroot due to the fact that I was already updated to 4.3. Any suggestions? I'm at a loss right now. If I install my unrooted back up, where will that leave me? Can I relock the bootloader at that point and remain stock unrooted? Thanks in advance for any help I can get.
I have the update and root. It appears I will need to either send it in for repair or get a new one. If I reset to factory, will it reset it back to the update and blow away root? That's what I want it to do though I don't want to test it.

you wont be able to factory reset if you used one of the root exploits for unlocked BL. pwnmymoto, motoroot, or rockmymoto. You will need to rsd back to stock. There will also still be a flag stating that you rooted your phone. There are instructions on how to remove this but you must be familiar with fastboot and adb I believe. I had to do it with one of my phones. I doubt they will check to see if the phone had been rooted if it has stock firmware on it without root. But they may. I did it jsut to be safe. But i had never done that before when returning a rooted phone and never had a problem.
You can't do a factory reset with those root exploits because they hijacked teh stock recovery so the factory reset wont' work.

That's kind of what I suspected only there isn't a fxz for the update yet and I rooted after the update (RockMyMoto). I guess I'll have to wait.

What carrier is your device for? I thought almost all the fastboots have been posted for the device after the OTA hit

Yes. Best bet to return to 100% stock is to use RSD Lite to flash the exact same firmware you already have. Example: if you are using 4.4.4, flash 4.4.4.
This will remove everything from the device, and return it to 100% stock out of the box condition.
My D950 came stock with 4.4.2, so I do not want to downgrade. Can someone please help me with unrooting the phone? This last update has almost made my phone unusable, because it keeps trying to force the fota. Since I no longer need it rooted, I would just as soon unroot the damn thing and go back to my stock 4.4.2. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
You can use supersu to unroot its in the settings tab called full unroot
