Ubuntu Touch on LG Optimus 4X HD - Ubuntu Touch Ports to Android

Dear Members,
I would like to ask some help.
I tried to build Ubuntu Touch (Phablet) onto my phone (LG p880). Seemingly the kernel is working, because the recovery image operates perfectly. But the boot image is not working. The booting process cannot step over the bootloader. Only the LG logo is seeming.
Have somebody ever met similar issue? What can the problem be? In my suspect, the ramdisk can be wrong, cannot it? How can the 2nd stage be debugged? (e.g. via USB)
Thank you for your help in advance.
Regards,
Csaba

secure boot is the problem
qualcomm chipset and lg lock the boot loader so no fastboot so no flash. "bump" boot.img and that should go away. suprised it didnt soft brick your device

Please download link file rom Ubuntu for p880

How to get your 2X into fastboot mode

A quirk of the Advent Vega (also Tegra) that allows you to enter fastboot mode also applies on the 2X (Thanks Bumble-Bee for the tip!)
Basically, if you wipe the boot partition (e.g. 'dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5') then reboot, the device drops to fastboot.
Handy testing feature for devs.

That sounds great!
Does fastboot boot work? Does fastboot flash work? Any other lockdowns there?

Fastboot boot did, didn't try anything else yet!

Fastboot flash works, ish.
I could flash recovery, but not boot. What would be nice is a radio in .img format so I don't have to backup and restore the bastard thing when a new one is out.
Ahh this would be so awsome.. since i Smartflash can't detect my P990
(so i can't flash the latest basebands or revert them)
Gief Radio in .img format !
Would anyone Know how to get the radio as .img ?
Would this work on the T-Mobile LG G2X?
Good question.
I expect the boot partition is different, so don't blindly follow the command here.

I did follow the command blindly with my P990, but no boot for me. Luckily there's an escape with the NVflash stock ROM.
It's fine on the P990, it's meant to 'not' boot, it's not broken at that stage, it's in fastboot. You can fastboot boot your way out of it.
Is this a safe option to try on my v10D? Fastboot decreases boot time by how much really?
That's not what fastboot means, to be honest, this isn't going to be for you
Hey All,
I was trying to install GingerStreak 2.4.4 from GingerStreak 2.4.3.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1333010
According to the instructions, I flashed
amss.mbn - http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/amss.mbn
and
dsp1.mbn - http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/dsp1.mbn
(got both the files from the first link above)
Then when I tried to reboot into Bootloader (Power+Vol Up+Vol Down) but nothing happens apart from the Dell logo being displayed.
I try to boot normally, still stuck at the Dell logo. The phone never even reaches the boot animation.
I try to go boot into fastboot (power+camera key)mode, but the phone never even boots. The screen stays off, so do the LED lights.
I figured out that the files downloaded above were incomplete(due to slow speed Chrome showed incomplete files as download complete).
amss downloaded: 111KB. Actual Size: 15.41MB
DSP1 Downloaded: 250KB. Actual Size: 8.94MB
So, I flashed the wrong files.
Now, I guess, the phone is bricked big time.
I need big time to get into fastboot mode (to flash the correct files) or anyhow get my phone working.
Guys, need help. Please help me out and get this issue sorted out.
You should maybe consider the Streak forum...
Sorry, my bad. I just searched for my problem an found this thread. Poured out all my worried without bothering to check on the device name.
Thanks anyhow!

Bootlop afrer changing boot anipation

Hi every one, I have problem with my Flex D955 phone cause today I've changed my boot animation to new using the app "Boot Box" animation was have probably biggest or smallest resolution like my display in phone, and now I have boot loop, somehow today I'm get into download mode also LG recovery works, phone is rooted and have stock KK firmware
Can some one help me resolve problem
Greetings Artur
Hi it's me again I finally think that I found resolution of my problem, using some tutorial from internet that looking like that
HTML:
The final solution is getting your bricked LG G Flex to the same exact state in which it was initially purchased. In order to do so, just install stock Android OS by following these steps:
Download Flashtool V1.5 from here and install it;
Transfer the Megalock.dll file to C:\LG\LgFlashtool;
Enter download mode on your LG G Flex;
Connect the bricked device to the computer, open ‘Device Manager’ and choose COM41;
Open Flashtool and choose .dll and .tot file;
When the ‘Ready’ message is displayed, you have to push the USB out and plug it in again in a few seconds;
The Flash tool will start running;
At the end of the procedure, your LG G Flex will be back to the stock / official Android version.
But I have problem i do not know where can find that both files .dll and .tot files
That files must by for LG G Flex D955
Sorry I know that I forgot write the model on my phone in first post, before I was using Samsung phones and it was easier
Ok guys my phone works again I used tutorials from our side

Help! my son ruined my LG Optimus 4X HD

So he was trying to install the "latest android" but he only managed to ruin the phone, it doesn't turn on, it just stays at the LG logo screen with some red text on the top left corner that says: " [LGE_SECURITY] ERROR: boot image signature Critical Failure: unable to start kernel. Unrecoverable bootloader: error (0x00000002)." He says he saw a tutorial on this board that explained how to "unlock and jailbreak" the phone so that he could install anything on it, problem is he didn't follow the instructions properly he forgot to "unlock the bootloader" whatever that means and now the phone won't start, any ideas on how to fix this?
Hi,
I have a feeling he may have flashed a lollypop image not made for that device. If so, a service center may be the only way to fix the device hopefully.
I will have your thread moved to your device section for other opinions.... Here,
> LG Optimus 4X HD > Optimus 4X HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
There is some kind of lg protection in bootloader, it says same thing if you flash custom recovery (I think in your case kernel) without unlocking bootloader. (it happend to me when I was unlocking my phone)
Anyway you can easily fix it by flashing stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723
Just advice for you if you try to flash it - there is a step in that tut where you put out battery - I wasn't able to power on my O4x without battery (of course connected to pc), so I did it with battery in phone. Just power off your mobile and hold volume down button and connect to your pc.

Thank you for your help and response. I followed the steps as you mentioned. On step 3 when I run the Flashbat file, It gives the below error, and the phone never started

Hi @dadm I could not get my SIM card detected in RR rom and tried to flash stock again. Now I am in a bootloop whatever I do. Which stock did you use to revert back? And is your SIM card detected?
I have a few questions if anyone could answer. I am looking to get hands on this phone but making sure everything goes as I expect.
1.Does any member have knowledge which of this Device variants (XT1942-1, XT1942-2, XT-942-3) qualify for "Unlocking Boot-loader" and which variant does not support unlocking. I am lookig for 4/64gb Chef.
2. Is there Any Custom Pie Rom with Solid stability + Efficient & Effective Kernel?
3. Does stock Motorola Camera app works 100% in a custom flashed Rom as it does in Stock Rom or we have to use Google Pixel Camera apps as an alternative?
4. Is there anyway to get back to stock image from Custom rom.
5. How to recover the device from a Hard Brick.
6. Not but least. How well this device performs while playing PUBG.
