I have the SGS GT-I9000M from Bell, was running Froyo 2.2
Decided today to dabble around with rooting and roms.
Followed all the directions to installed Darky's v9.2 Extreme Edition w/ Voodoo 5.4.1 kernel.
Everything went flawlessly and everything runs slick. Except for one small issue.
Now I seem to be losing network connectivity. Sometimes it will remain on "Bell", other times it will just display "No Service" or "Emergency Calls Only".
Have I missed something or done something incorrectly?
Any insight on this would be great.
Thanks in advance.
Also, is there a way to revert back to stock 2.2 if necessary?
Revert to stock via Odin
Darky problems check Darkys posts and FAQS .
jje
Tried and failed.
Went through every Darky's post I could find and can't seem to see anything like this being mentioned.
I even tried the Resurrection version, now my phone is a brick.
Does nothing but reboot over and over at the start.
Can't get into Recovery, only Download mode..
Suggestions?
Go to sam firmware.com download the android version 2.1 update 1 ughj2 or whatever its called. when its done downloading put your phone in download mode but first open up odin. select 512 pit and check repartion. Choose the firmware as pda and connect your phone to the computer and press start wait until odin finish flashing it and comeback and tell us what happened
I was able to get the phone working again, pretty much what you just said.. but with 2.2
Only issue is now I have no data network connectivity.
Zero options for it in the settings, and I've even called my cell provider..
They keep telling me to wait a few minutes and it will reconnect..
It's been a few hours..
Hello everybody.
I am having serious trouble with my phone and I was hoping some of you might be able to help me out.
I just bought my SGS 3 days ago. It came with android 2.1.1 eclair installed.
I had read that that version was not the best ( the first thing I saw when I opened the phone actually was an error screen, and the lag was horrible) so when I got home I decided to try and upgrade it using the official software for it (Kies).
Unfortunately Kies would simply disconnect my phone when I told it to upgrade, after which it would ask me to upgrade again >.>
So I decided to use Odin to flash one of the newer 2.2.1 versions.
I flashed a 'JS3' version with a repartition to 803 pit , but it crashed after rebooting with the dbdata error (which as I learned later was caused by not flashing a full firmware).
I flashed JPU after which worked great. It was fast and responsive.
However my phone kept crashing. Whether on standby, using apps, or just trying to dial a number, it would freeze, start vibrating, and sometime reset, other times just stay frozen until I force shut down it from the power button.
I flashed JS5 afterwards, with full cache clearing, factory reset etc. Still crashed.
Then I tried flashing Darky's 9.2 Ressurection. Loved it but I couldn't even set up my google account because it crashed constantly.
Then I went back to what I believe is the current official version for my location and carrier (Vodafone Romania), JP9 .
After flashing it didn't crash, but after a while (one night), it started crashing like crazy, even wound up with weird gray lines and a freeze in the morning.
I was hoping someone here might know what is wrong with it. I already sent it back to be serviced but I am thinking maybe I broke it somehow and would like to know how so I don't do it again.
The phone is network locked, which I later learned is usually a bad thing for flashing, unfortunately I didn't know about that when I started.
well first of you want to remove the network lock so try these:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913681
next step is to register on www.samfirmware.com (its free) and here is where you will get all the latest official firmwares from samsung..
what you want to do is download (XWJS5) with all 3 files and PIT and flash that through odin with RE-PARTITION..
Before you do that, put your phone into recovery mode (volume up + Home button + Power button ) and do a factory reset / wipe cache ect...
so when you have done that and flashed the new firmware. let me know what the outcome is..
another thing.. ALWAYS MAKE SURE KIES IS CLOSED.... EVEN IN THE ICON TRAY... AND MAKE SURE DRIVERS ARE UP TO DATE.
other than that you shouldn't have any problems
hi, thanks for the advice.
I already did most of that however. I did a factory reset numerous times, and I also did a full repartition flash more than once, to no avail.
I am waiting to get it back from warranty service now but I am wondering what went wrong.
Was it broken when I bought it or did I damage it somehow by trying to flash it while network locked ?
flashing with network lock wouldnt make everything force close. the worst thing that could happen when flashing with network lock is not picking up a signal and possible IMEI corruption.
i think you may have just flashed the wrong ROM, it happens to us all, but the more you do it the more experienced you become and you soon learn methods to restore things..
dont worry too much it will be fine when it comes back from samsung, just be sure to read up properly if you have any doubts.. or ask a question first you will get a reply quicker than you can Unbrick your phone..
My phone seems to hate the 803 pit file. Lots of force closes when I used it. Try using 512, see if that works any better.
I tried 3 ways.
cellphone: Samsung Galaxy s3 gt-i9305 android 4.3
1) Kies3, kies to connect the computer recognizes that there is a upgrade and follow the steps. do the backup, press on with the update and after spending hours downloading files from the update tells me it does not recognize the device even re-installing the drivers. (That and I have done several times and always wasting time waiting hours while kies download again and again the firmware).
2-) OTA, is the upgrade for the phone right? Good tells me there is a new update android 4.4.4 OS weighing 592MB, unfortunately I have no wifi so I tried to update it with my telephone mbs plan. But there comes a time when the download is falling and losing 64% mbs.
3) Odin online there are many tutorials and I've tried several times also, the version I've used is the v3.09, the tutorial says it must recognize the disposito yellow leaves me but I like light blue. Similarly I follow the process but always remains in "odin get pit for mapping" after a few minutes out failed.
Well I tried these 3 ways to upgrade and I could not, now I have several problems with the phone the greater is that sometimes get calls and sometimes not.
please help.
Good day everyone. Dear friends problem briefly as follows: After 1 week ago Cyanengenmod 11 version (4.4.4) I have installed on my phone Galaxy S Advance. 2 days later I came back with something using Odin to stock 4.1.2 JB samsung original version. But after his return did not setup wizard. I threw format again Recovery phone does not go directly to the setup wizard after opening format. I installed 2.3.6 SW problems still remain. CM 11 out of kurunca setup wizard. But the phone is opened without leaving the setup wizard in the original Stock ROM. Inside your interest
The thank you.
Edit : Format does not appear after installation wizard
not sure I completely understand what you're saying. BUT, if you can use odin, just return to stock root it. you can bring it back to what ever you want from there.
Hello XDA, I'm having a problem with my grandmother's phone, and I'm in a hurry to get this fixed because she needs it for business. Her phone is an AT&T Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900A unlocked to T-Mobile. It was running Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and I tried to update the phone as I did with my grandpa's, who has the same exact phone before we switched to T-Mobile. Because it was unlocked, the phone couldn't receive the OTA Lollipop update due to the SIM card not being AT&T.
After spending 4 hours searching and trying solutions, I came down to one thread on XDA Forums here. I saw it and I ended up using Odin 3.09 to flash the All-In-one/Non-Wipe Tar file onto it, now my phone is stuck in a boot-loop. Strangely, the Lollipop update seems to be installed as when I plug her phone into my PC/charge it, the battery screen is different than the old one which looked shiny and not flat and material like the Lollipop one. Knox has not been tripped, system status is OFFICIAL, and every time I turn on the phone, it proceeds to boot until the AT&T logo screen, where it freezes mid-way vibrates 2 times and boots the same way over and over again.
Is there anything I can do aside from doing a wipe or factory reset, as I mentioned before she has to use the phone for a business she works for and she had somewhat important work on the phone. The worst part of it all is I was stupid and ignored the warning to back my data up first in the firmware thread. Please help, I'm in a very big hurry to solve this and finish the updating/problem.
P.S If it's not a boot loop and it's called something else, whatever. xD
Did you try using Smartswitch to see if it can see and repair and/or reflash? A factory reset may be the only way to fix it because I believe the file layout for KK and LP and different.
