Hello!
I'm new on this forum, as I'm new on Diamond stuffs. Didn't mean I doesn't have any knowledge about modiles. But, beside this and the search that I perform, let me ask:
The Motorola S9 Bluetooth headset works fine with Diamond? I know it's the phone have all profiles inside (A2DP, HSP, HDF and AVRCP) but I wanna read some experiences with.
Can I pick a call and still listen my music after drop the call? Everytihng works fine with this device? If yes, I'll buy it on saturday. Didn't not to mention the fact of Diamond headset be a worst piece of crap (IMHO!).
Please, forgive my terrible english and thanks for all your answers!
Hi,
Yes, everything works well with the Motorola S9. I use it every day. The only issue I have, and its been discussed elsewhere, is that the remote control for music only work with Media Player and the touchflow 3d music player.
DT
Works fine, although I do think that the audio quality is better with my moto v3maxx, but still far better than the Diamond headphones. I think i saw a mod somewhere for those headphones, to wipe out the static.
note if you get the S9, try looking for the S9 HD, it wipes out static on any phone.
They took so long with the S9 HD. They announced them several months ago and they're still not out; have to wait till Q4 for them :\.

Hmmm... I'm not a Windows user; I use a Macbook to sync my stuffs with Diamond. That's my point: my music stills in M4A format, so... only the Pocket Player (from Conduits) is capable to play them with all tags correctly displayed.
Should this program works with S9? And I didn't see the HD to sale on my country (Brazil).

I got an official Spanish ROM...
Marcos,
I live in Brazil too and I have a S9. Be very careful where you buy it from, because most of what is sold is fake.
I bought mine from EBay, and it costed US$ 105 shipped. If you find it for much less than that (< US$ 70) it's probably fake.
Ask the seller if it comes with a hologram wrapped around it, because the original one does.
Now about the Diamond don't know, I use my S9 with my Motorola A1200. I didn't buy a Diamond yet because I'm waiting for Touch Pro.

US$ 105 ? That's pretty expensive for such a pair of A2DP headphones. It has major problems with outdoor interference-resistance and can get bad very easily if your ears are sweaty (you for example run / jog while listening to music), unlike with larger headphones.

Hi Smaniac!
Well... I found it in a mall (SP Market in São Paulo) for R$250,00. I'm not worry about price, but the full compatibility itself. BTW, the hologram looks like in this photo? And you get the red, blue, green or black device?
Thanks for your reply!
For me, the headphones have been nothing but perfect whether i'm outside or inside. I don't run a lot but play a lot basketball but don't where them so i can't comment on that. At the ATT store, they retail for about 100 and through Motorola, 120 :O.
Well... I'll buy it on saturday!
I'll tell yours my impressions after get it on my hands.

I had the sbh80 for 2 and a half years before they broke. I can tell you one thing that I was fully satisfied with paying 115 pounds for them. The sound quality is great and the battery life is also good about 9 hours with music play back. They have great bass and can reach loud volumes. When you put the sbh80 on in the morning you will notice they are there but very quickly you will forget that you are wearing them, very comfortable around the neck and very light.
If i was in your position I would purchase the sbh80 if you can still get them and make sure you get them in black the white ones will get dirty.
I use these at the gym, and they are pretty good, with excellent battery life:

Thanks a lot Amar . You seem to be from Mumbai. Do those fall over the neck while running? I do a lot of commuting in Mumbai trains. I thought SBH 80 was launched in Sep 2015.

Nope I'm not from Mumbai. Huge giveaway in my reply to you was that I said 115 pounds indicating that I am from the uk. Anyway the sbh80 aren't really good for running they will start to slide around you neck and will eventually fall off. But if you want to use them for running you can get some earphone clips and attach them to the earphones and then clip the sbh80 to your shirt to stop it from sliding around.
Here is a picture of the clips I'm talking about:

Also the sbh80 were released in March 2014 here in the uk.
Get the Samsung Level U Pro or the new Active Noise Cancellation ones - superb

I have the LG HBS-1100 tone platinums. I listen to audiobooks all night at (8-10hrs) everyday and they are awesome. The retractable earbuds alot better to deal with then the previous designs.
If you can get the Samsung Level U Pro in-ear phones, go for them. They work amazingly with the phone and the quality is superb. The Level app is awesome as well. It may end up slightly beyond your price range when on sale, but not by too much.
I just upgraded to the from the Level U pro to the ANC version, will write a review but in short made a superb product even better

I am on Sprint and currently have the LG V30+ someone I know has a Note 9 that I can buy for $475 cash. I'm big on photos and play some games like PUBG and a couple others. I understand on the tech side the Note has more RAM (4gb vs 6gb) and the upgraded processor (835 vs 845). Just want to make sure it makes sense, any input appreciated!

I just went from LG V30 to Note 9 snapdragon, and I can (anecdotally) say it is better in almost every way, with the exception of sound. The DAC on LG is way better. But display, camera, battery life, and processing speed are better on the Note. There is also the S pen, but I have yet to find a use for mine.

Good to know, that's what I was hoping to hear. The last Note I had was a 4 and it was awesome. I do like the DAC but it sounds like there is way more positives.

Definitely more positives. But man, after having good sound, it's hard to move to something inferior. Around 60% of my phone use is music, whether it's at home, on my car, or outside. I just wish I had gone for the Exynos version so that I could at least root and add viper. But it's the only thing I miss.
The software is also more polished, and Samsung adds a lot of value with their custom user interface. Some may consider it bloat, but I like it.

For 475 buy it. I'd buy them all day long at 475. If you don't like it, sell it and make a couple hundred dollars on it. No brainer IMO.

Hi, I also listen to music a lot. And I also have a Snapdragon Note 9. I have a couple of questions, as you seem to really enjoy your mobile music as well..
1 - Is it not good enough using the Dolby Atmos + Equalizer provided by default? Would Viper be much of an improvement? I can hear a considerable difference using these two, compared to no tuning at all.
2 - For wired headphones VS bluetooth.. I know Bluetooth is still not comparable, but I got the Jabra Elite 65t and quite enjoy it. Sometimes I still use my wired ones though. Does Viper work well for both wired and Bluetooth? Does it really improve the experience?
3 - Apart from Viper, any personal recommendations that might make listening to music a better experience?
I went V30 to Note 9 Exynos and it's been great, the DAC in the Exynos devices is really not too far from the V30's.
Plus just saw a video of a real day use of the camera on note 9 vs pixel 3 xl and apart from front and night shots note 9 did better then the pixel.

Appart from an old set of 3.5 apple eardbuds, I listen mostly via Bluetooth. Atmos makes a little improvement. Problem is there is no custom option. I have a Pixel 2 XL as a backup phone, and I use it more than the N9 because of viper for Android. The amount of control on viper can be overwhelming, but if you take the time so can be the results. It works on all my apps (Spotify, Pandora, Play Music and TuneIn) and you can save a different preset for every Bluetooth device if you want to. Viper might not make Bluetooth headsets as good as wired ones, but it makes damn close.
Besides viper I have used Equalizer FX. It does give you some control but it does not work with Pandora or TuneIn, sometimes you have to restart the app, and with pie beta it does not seem to work at all.
I posed the question last month to see if anyone had used an external DAC with their phone. I am always keen to get the best Audio experience I can and was actually looking for a phone with a 'hi-fi' DAC like the tope end LGs and HTCs come with.
Once I cam across the Mate 10 Pro however i've not regretted a single thing. exce[t what i might be missing out on the Audio front.
I use 3 different Sennheiser headphones.
Urbanite over the ear
HD497 (must be 20 years old now)
and some Momentum M2.0 in ear for when I'm commuting/travelling
Not the highest of high end headsets, but a huge leap from the basics.
After some investigation into capabilities, bit rates and cost I purchased a Cyrus Soundkey from Amazon (£99). I didn't want to make a huge investment (some cost hundreds more) in case I was really wasting my time, but I wanted to do what I could to improve what I get our of the Mate 10 Pro.
It plugs into the phone using a provided OTG connector. You need a USB C adaptor or (as I did) you can get a USB C to micro USB lead (9" with a 90 degree USB C connector)
After some fiddling and ensuring it actually produced some sounds I got hold of some FLAC (lossless) files that I had down loaded previously and stuck them on my phone. The Cyrus can deal with 24-bit/96kHz FLAC Audio so I plugged in the Momentums and sat back to listen to Fleetwood Mac's The Chain. It was like listening to it again for the first time, but after having my ears syringed. So much detail and clarity was leaping out with every note. I did some more digging and found some of my favourite tracks in FLAC and went through the same process. Rush - 2112.. I've been listening to that album on and off for nearly 40 years. More detail than I ever though possible was leaping out at me. I am a very happy user, despite the wires and extra dongle bit hanging about.
For me as a music lover I have to say that it is a very worthwhile upgrade that I can take with me when I change my phone next.
It's not ideal when listening to 192 kHz files as it does have the occasional drop out. I am converting these to 96kHz as I type and think this will fox the dropouts
Here's what I bought
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cyrus-SoundKey-Mobile-DAC-Black/dp/B073RFVHVY
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B078163B16
In summary, I think if you love music and are mad about the quality (and have the funds) give it a try.
Mike
Hello.
How do you guys rate the sound quality taken by a filmed video or a call, does the Mic sounds good enough for this device?
Btw, what about Bluetooth or Speaker, are all well playing or is there a lil inconsistency in lac of bad output?
How's the sound quality using wired earphone? I plan to upgrade from G6 with quad DAC but I'm afraid with the sound quality.

I went from HTC 10 to this phone, the difference is definitely there
The included adapter is an analog one (meaning no DAC, just wiring from phone's internal audio dac)
I wouldn't say it's *bad* per se, it's just the most generic solution by qualcomm implemented. No fancy stuff.
However they did implement it good enough to be used by most ppl, but it's probably coming up short by audiophile standard.
The sound is flat, damp, and just a bit loose in my personal opinion. It just somehow got just a bit of sound stage in there though so that's arguably a plus.
I ended up with an external DAC by moshi as daily driver.
So if you're expecting the internal DAC to be as good as some high-end smartphone, probably not. However if you're mostly using it for web video / streaming, and can accept the sound is just damp, it's good enough.
P.S. You're going to use an typc-c to 3.5 mm adapter anyways, so just get a decent adapter (moshi adapter on the cheap side, audiolab p-dac on the higher end side), and call it a day.

thanks for your explanation!
I expect the sound quality at least to be on par with my old S6 (which is a bit lower than G6). I tried my friend's new mi9 and I found it so dull and lack of everything (I'm only using low end cans 1more triple driver).
Do you find moshi DAC is on par with G6 (or maybe HTC 10)?

Well if you're using e1001, that's definitely good enough to hear the difference TBH. The integrated stuff is flat at best, but I'd call it pale (and damp).
And yeah, the moshi dac has been working out pretty well for me, I'm mostly in for the 3yr warranty but the sound is at least on par, if not more than HTC 10 in my opinion. To be fair HTC did a nice job on their audio on 10 so that's saying something.
But I mean, for $25 on a 24/192 audio adapter I'm happy with what I have. (It also works on PC, but I think most external DAC does.)
If you want something more close to sony A-series walkman quality, you'll probably have to check p-dac.
Also, mandatory:
* audio is a very personal experience, these are my personal experience and preference, you should probably try before you buy and shop around. *
