Should I buy this used Note 5? - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have an opportunity to buy a Note 5 that the seller claims to be in perfect condition except for a crack on the back of the Note 5.
The crack runs all the way from the far left to the far right.
The phone is ~$100 cheaper than the others I found in perfect condition.
Are these cracks purely cosmetic? Or do they effect the phone's functionality somehow? I will be using a cover on the phone so it won't be noticable.
Thanks in advance.

Cracks can and will get worse. They will more than likely after time affect the touch screen response, it costs a fair bit to replace the screen. Do yourself a favour and get a brand new one. It's not worth the risk. If it was 200-250 less. It would be

Edit. I read it wrong. If it's just the back. I'd say go for it. But I would test everything else out before you buy it.

You can send it off to LG, I think it's like $130-$150 to get it fixed. Given it's just cracked in the corner, a case would probably cover that up in the mean time.

Well, in Indonesia, LG replace the broken screen for the first 6 months warranty for free, only for LG G2.
yep
I have this issue too. Dropped mine (in the included case) and it fell out of the case , gently tapping the ground and I have about an inch crack down the left of the screen. Only hairline but still it's noticeable during use. Might give it a go replacing myself as I'm not paying LG £100.

The guy is pretty damn slow but i get the idea. heat the screen, wedge it off the lcd. Clean, stick new digitser on.
what is the cleaning solution he used? Just, that is going to be a key part, as it needs to be perfectly clean before you put the digitiser glass over it, or I will forever have to put up with a sticky horrible looking screen! Any tips, advice, and your recommendations for screen cleaner would be great.
I asked LG People They told that they will fix it for 130$ and I can't claim the warranty as it's physical damage..

90% alcohol to clean the LCD and you can use a razor blade to scrape the big stuff off. Be warned I fix phones as a hobby that pays and separating the glass from the digitizer/LCD is not easy! You should look it up on YouTube there are a lot of videos of it being done with Samsung phones. The key to it is the right amount of heat (too much will damage the LCD) and going very slow. If you crack the LCD it will cost more to replace it than the cost to have LG do it. The guy in the video was a little too rough in my opinion and I suggest using a plastic pick. Be very gentle and take your time all the way through. Good luck!

I'd just put a znitro tempered glass protector on that with a case and be done.
I replaced my screen (water damage) with one from Ebay. Cost $120 and I did the work myself. Though, you really don't need a new screen.

(UK) Screen Knight Edge-to-Edge Screen Protector

If you're in the UK and desperate to get your screen protected until something better comes along, I can personally recommend this product.
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=161994219563&alt=web
It is of the wet apply variety however what I like about this is it has very low friction (rubbery feel) under finger like some other I've experienced in the past. Seller is UK based. I collected from Argos the day after I ordered it.
I've had Zagg in the past and considering how much they charge this is somewhat comparable in terms of quality. For £4 it will more than suffice until (read if) a decent tempered one hits the shelves.

FYI I'm using the Samsung Clear View case absolutely fine with this screen protector. Obviously it's wise to let it fully cure (dry) before putting in the case.

Perseverance to be honest. I found that the main screen piece held in place quickest. I squeegeed out excess liquid via the edges. Then started to work on the edges. Took a few attempts but eventually the edges held good enough in place. For several hours after while watching TV I used a combination of thumbs and fingers to smooth out any noticeable liquid. I also used a rubber pencil eraser to smooth out. Kept working on the edges too. I'm a bit anal about things like this so I kept at it until the whole screen surface was satisfactory to me lol. Next day it had cured fully.
Just found my first issue with these . Put in my pocket while I biked to work took out of pocket when at work and it had lifted. And also it's scratched like mad I know it's meant to protect the screen underneath but it looks awful. Also if it scratches in my pocket what's it going to do if it meets anything sharp. Think I'll be looking for something else. Gutted

Must've been chaffing on the phone quite a bit for it to lift! I can run my finger quite hard against the edge and no lift. I can see what you mean about the other issue though. I'm using mine with the Clear View case from Samsung so hadn't noticed. Ran my finger nail down the screen protector and it does seem to leave a little mark. It's protecting the screen so I can't complain too much plus you only notice the marks when angled in the right light.
As I say, for £4 - which is basically nothing - and quick UK delivery, for me I'm treating this as a cheap and quick method of protecting the screen until something better comes along.

S-Pen WAAAAAAY too sensitive to write properly

Hello all.
I've looked through as many threads as I can on this, but I don't see any answers to the specific issue I have regarding my S Pen.
Basically, my pen is so darned sensitive that when I print and lift up the pen to go to the next letter, it leaves a trailing mark. I'm no longer touching the screen, but it is still writing. It looks awful. I'm trying to sign some documents and it looks more like a Kindergartner has been trying to sign something than an adult.
I have changed the nib out with two different tips (gray and white) to no avail.
Any help or tips would be very appreciated. Thanks!
there could be several solutions
1) try to write with another stylus ,your stylus could be defected
2) see if the nib of stylus is loose, try to fix it
3) try removing the nib of stylus (if its possible) , and then try bringing the pen near the screen & see what happens
4) and finally restart the mobile

Very nice of you to reply. I should have stated that this has been going on for a while, so I've restarted many times. I've also changed out the nibs with two different tips and that hasn't worked. Appreciate your help!

Unfortunately, no. I don't have another stylus. I went into the TMobile store to see if I could use their display model's stylus. Believe it or not, they didn't have one in the store! They remove them from all the units since they get stolen so much. CRAZY!
I have this same problem. I've tried the above, settings are fine and I've tried 3 other pens and they work fine. It's just mine. I'm super irritated that there's no solution. I can't write with this thing.
Oddly enough.
I've had my Note 5 since the first few weeks it hit the shelf and I've been through a bunch of them and it has done that to me. I don't recommend doing this but if you throw the pen on the clicker side on to your carpet that has stopped the over sensitive clicking. It sounds worse then it is but if you do it a few times like I have you it only takes one throw oddly enough someone has let me know about it. But if you get a new one get a OEM one off amazon for $20 cause you get what you paid for and tried the cheap ones and just threw them in the garbage where they should have been shipped to in the first place. Haha

Any UK Users struggling with updates?

Hi
I have a Nokia 6.1 bought through Carphone Warehouse and don't get automatic updates as Nokia are blaming the carriers.
Are there any issues with updates in the UK for sim free phones with the 7 plus that anyone is aware of?
Thinking of moving up to the 7 plus if it gets auto updates.

No issues with my 7+ I bought it from carphone warehouse also.
What I was say it to try a different SIM, EE have blocked the updates before and putting in a O2 SIM made it work.

Nothing worked apart from hard reset, stopping google play updates on start up, installing vpn and connecting to USA. Updates work then.
Nokia blaming carriers but most carriers are saying that they have no reason to block any updates on sim free phones.
Thanks for your reply
No issues here either. I bought from Carphone Warehouse also and use an EE contract sim that I got with an LG G6 (which has just been updated this month to Android 8) which was the reason for getting the 7 plus.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
As mentioned a number of people hae had issues with EE and BT mobile sims and not getting updates, specifically the one from 8.0 to 8.1. I think it's been resolved now but when I picked up my Nokia 7 Plus the other day I started it without a sim and it performed it's updates just fine.
Same here I get instantly all the OTAs both for Oreo and Android P, but I still haven't inserted a SIM.
Gone for it. Got myself a 7 plus today. Already much happier than with the 6.1

As the edges of the screen are slightly curved I've struggled to get a decent glass screen protector that fits, most cover the flat part of the screen which is not quite all of the visible area and the others cover the whole amount but lift up at the edges
Please let me know if you find a decent one.
