XT1096 CM13 -- Screen stays on while charging, no charge animation - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since updating to CM13 daily from stock last week, I haven't been able to charge the phone (while powered off) without a fully bright screen. And after disconnecting USB, I need to hold the power button a while to force the screen off. I thought it was an issue with the specific logo.bin I was using (to get rid of the unlocked warning), but I've had this problem with every other logo.bin I've tried. I've mainly been testing with the "minimal" logo from here. Charging while the phone is on works fine.
Anyone else experiencing this? Searched around and found similar issues with previous versions of CM, but nothing for this phone and CM13. For earlier CM, some people recommended disabling "Stay awake" in the developer options; that's off.

yip same issue on NEXUS 10.1 AOSP ROM... hopefully will get fixed in next release.

Check in developer options to see if the "stay awake" is selected. Not 100% this will fix the issue but worth a shot.

[Q] My O2X turns BSOD when charging

Hi I have problem with my O2X (P990). When I plug phone to charger with screen off, phone gets black screen and I cant do nothing, till I remove the battery and put it back and start it again. I use latest CM10.1 and its known issue i think. Is there any solution for this? I turned on option "Stay awake" but its not practical - when im plugging phone to charger screen must be on - then there is no issue, but i cant think all the time about turning phone on when im putting it to charger. Thanks for any advice.

Do the leds light up when you click the power button?
If so, try to click the power button a few times with 1 or 2 seconds in between, the sceen might turn on again. I got the same problem with my P990.

No its absolutely dead, but thanks for trying.
Change rom or kernel. BSoD mostly caused by kernels.

Hey! Sorry to barge in but i have a similar problem thou i'm on stock ics with touch recovery and root. Weird thing is that this was not happening before. What gives? :-?
If i plug in the charger with screen on then it works but if the phone is in standby and i plug it it stays "dead" and only option is obviously to remove battery.
Had this problem on the old bootloader. Use one of the new bootloader ROMs (tonyp's CM10.1 or pengus77's CM10).
thing is i'm using the new boot loader (stock ics is on new boot loader) but it didn't happen before so i'm suspecting either the battery or the phone.
i will try to eliminate one of the "suspects"(replace the battery) and i hope it does the trick....
I suffered from the same problem, and so the only solution that I was easily able to implement was enabling "keep screen on while charging" in development options. When the phone is charging, the screen will dim, but not turn off. It can be turned off using the power button, and the screen will turn off but device will stay awake, which will prevent the BSOD. I wasn't able to test if it was a battery problem and I didn't want to change the kernel or rom. I am using Temasek's CM 7.2 with Stefan's latest Symbi0sis Kernel. Hope I helped.

i think i'm misunderstood :-? the phone charges just fine, it's just that i have to plug in the charger while the screen is on (if i don't do this the phone remains shut and becomes unresponsive hence the "pull out battery" solution).
Oh, my apologies. I thought you meant that the phone BSOD whenever you plug in the charger and leave it for a short period of time, whether the screen was on or off when the charger was plugged it in. In that case, I'm not sure I can provide a solution. Sorry, and good luck.

ok now it works :| wtf? .... will further test but i did install greenify and auto memory and tweaked here and there some apps... could it be software problem? anyway thanks for reply, sorry for highjacking the OP and will come back with feedback.

I have exactly the same problem since i updated the software,
I am on New bootloader,kernel KK124, and temasek latest CM 10.1 based ROM(v 75).
I always connect the charger with screen on and when it starts charging i put the screen off then no issues.
Another issue i am having is keyboard related .
When I type 2nd alphabet the keyboard goes off. Tried all latest ROMS ,and all gapps its the same.
The only gapps which works is the one provided in PAC man thread ,but it seems to work only with PAC MAN ROM.
But it has other issues( Any contact storage gives an FC,and a bit slow compare to avatar and temasek ROMS)

[Q] Red charging light on when unplugged?

Last night, I plugged in my Sprint HTC One (launch day device, if that makes a difference) and this morning, I couldn't use it. I say I couldn't use it as in the red charging light stays on when unplugged, pressing the power button yields nothing, and holding it down only makes the capacitive buttons at the bottom blink on and off as long as I'm pressing the power button.
I can't turn on my device to get all the device info, but here's what I remember:
Rooted, S-OFF
Running a stable 4.2.2 ROM (Outside of screen responsiveness issues which could be due to me dropping my phone sometimes, I've never had issues with this ROM)
Either stock or stable custom kernel.
When I plugged it in last night, the battery was definitely above 40%.
No one touched it between the time when I plugged it in last night and this morning when I went to check my texts.
Currently, the red light has been on without it being plugged in for about 20 minutes. I have tried the fix found in the FAQ, but it was unsuccessful.
Any ideas? I'll just keep fiddling with it in hopes of it working, but that's all I've got.
I think you broke your phone by dropping it sometimes

[Q] Z1 4.4.4 build 154, Stock, lots of issues.

If Anyone can help me I'll really appreciate the tips.
First, My Z1 is completely stock, Android 4.4.4 build 157.
After no apparent reason the following issues started:
1- After depleting the battery, the phone just didn´t charged and a red light blinked 3 times. Solved this out of nowhere, it charged and was running ok
2- when charging the phone while it was on, when the capacity reached 96% the screen forced to be on, even if I hit the off button, it turned back on. I can charge it without a problem with the phone off.
3- If I turn the phone off another problem arises, he starts to boot, shows the Sony logo, turns off, and again, shows the Sony logo.... indefinitely!
Before this issue I was getting around 4h to 5h30min of screen, now I get around 2h.
What I tried to do:
- Hard Reset using the hardware button, didn´t do anything.
- Hard Reset using recovery mode (safe mode), deleted all apps and files from the phone... didn´t change anything.
I Would Like to remain stock, but if the only solution is to root, I don´t mind.
I had all the samsung S line (expect S5) and I've rooted and installed custom rooms in all of them, but in this one, the updates are fast and stable, that's the reason to prefer to stay stock.
STILL SAME ISSUES
I´ve rooted the phone, intalled recovery and wiped the phone... Problem rermains.
Installed a Costum rom... Didn´t solved my issues.
Can someone help?
1. The red lights, they blink when you plug the charger because you have totally drained your battery, so it will blink until you have the minimum amount of power to turn the phone on.
2. Go to settings, dev options and see if "STAY AWAKE" is checked. Uncheck it.
3. Software or hardware issues?
Following my phone problems (while in stock when I turned off my phone it keeps boot looping into the sony logo and the screen stays turned on after 96%, now 90%, while recharging), I've installed the DstrikerZ1Kai rom (LB) and since the problems didn´t disapeer I want to go back to stock.
My question is how? Where's the stock unbranded rom? I've backup the TA files.
The option to stay awake while recharging was off, I've turned it on, 90% and over it turned on, now I've turned it off and will see what happens.
Thanx in advance.
I think you should restore stock firmware and restore TA , then send your phone to sony, i used the 157 update for 2 weeks it only had a battery drain issue.

[Q] Phone charges with screen on on CM?

Hi Guys
I am running Cyanogenmod 12.1 nightly, and have the following issues:
1) If the phone is off, and I put it on charge it boots into a sort of "battery charging mode" which shows a big battery with the capacity charged inside it. The problem is that even when the picture of the battery goes away, the screen backlight remains on throughout, which obviously simultaneously uses power and consequently takes longer to charge. Is there any way of getting the screen to switch off?
2) If I use the phone until the battery is dead, I cannot obviously reboot. Then I plug it in, and it boots into the mode above. Whilst plugged in and the battery is dead, it will not boot up (on the factory rom even if the phone is dead, as soon as you plug it in you can boot it and it will chrage whilst the ROM is booted up). I then have to wait until it has charged a bit in the mode described in (1), unplug it, then boot it up, and let it charge whilst booted after I manage to get it booted. This whole process entails at least 10 minutes of downtime
Are there any ways around this? It is properly irritating
Bump
Does anyone else have the same issue? Is it normal?
confirming
can confirm it's normal. Having this on PAC. Just keep an eye on your battery and don't let it die I guess?
What is PAC?
Are there any roms as stable and sleek as CM, with good battery life and consistent development, which doesn't have this problem?

PAC is another ROM. Unfortunately Paranoid Android is the only ROM along with Omnirom not based on CM sources, so no, there aren't any AOSP roms without this issue I'm afraid.
OK cool thanks. Guess I should move back to the oem rom

Phone always shuts down when plugging in charger

For quite some time I already have the problem that the phone almost always shuts down once i plug in the charger.
It reboots to the bootloader, recovery selection and then briefly shows 65% battery and then the actual battery state.
I'm currently on AOSP 6, however this problem was already present with older versions. I also tried using different basebands without success.
This issue has been becoming quite annoying as I always have to manually restart the phone again to actually boot up instead of showing the charging animation when turned off. I hope you guys can help me with this.
