As long as your phone is not a 64 bit phone that wasn't made outside of the USA you can get it s-off by paying a fee to use an app called Sunshine that will do all the work for you and make sure your phone is compatible first before doing anything so it won't break but you'll have to remove the custom recovery and put the original back on there and lock the phone's boot back up! If you need help with the app you can either ask me here or you can go to http://theroot.ninja/ and see if @jcase is available to help via the live chat system!
Thank you very much! finally...

any one has an idea how to unroot the sensation XL.
I have unlocked boot-loader and s-off ON.
Please help
Its very simple mate. Relock the bootloader using command fastboot oem lock from bootloader screen. Once done phone will rebbot into bootloader again so you can flash any of the ruu.exe from runnymede official rom thread

Same as the post before
but since your using Linux a quick search of the forums brings me this;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711298
thanks for your quick answer. but i do have to install adb tool or/and sdk before locking the bootloader again, right?
or can i do it without it?
I thought the link may have explained it? you will need to use ADB to relock it then continue
Do I unlock my bootloader using HTC.com website or should I wait for a developer to create a S-Off method? do we really need S-Off?

S-Off doesn't really have much use on this phone. Since it's Qualcomm, kernels can be flashed in recovery anyway, and the only real reason for S-Off would be to downgrade to previous firmwares.

so if I use HTC.com to unlock it, I will be able to flash roms and stuff from recovery as normally I do with my HTC 4G LTE ?(been doing it with the EVO and EVO 3D also)
i think the s-off method is preferable above HTCdev.
Warranty wise that is.
if you are s-off you won't be registered @ HTC for having unlocked your bootloader and thus reduced your warranty...

what if you don't want htc to know that you are rooting your phone for warranty purposes
any way of doing this? anyone working on s-off?
No idea if the phone has had a chance to reach anyone outside of the EU (and slow roll out even over here.)
I'm guessing that when the phone is in the hands of a lot more people the race will be on to be the 1st to deliver s-off.
Until there's a desperate need for me to flash an updated radio or maybe a bootloader I don't appear to need it though.

Until there has been worldwide release of the phone I doubt anybody will of even started work on it. I'd assume we might heard word of it about June time? Regarding people working on it that is.

Are there any custom ROMS for salsa which is rooted but S-oFF?>?
To install custom-ROMs you need S-Off or an unlocked Bootloader. What does your bootloader show (which version, s-on/s-off, **locked**/**unlocked**)?
Those ROMs come often with Root but sometimes you have to install Root access manually.

ROM's do not come with S-OFF, you make it S-OFF which isn't a good idea personally, i know this from experience. as i am S-OFF and have unlocked bootloader.
theschneidi is right check what u have first then respond
I have unlocked the bootloader from htcdev and installed Clockwork mod recovery and also rooted my phone but it is S-OFF so can I install any custom ROM on it??

NO because that would be infringing the XDA rules(Search function or check other Salsa rooms)., and YES I'm sure or we wouldn't be sitting here with a custom rom and huge internal space.
My HTC Salsa touchpad becomes insensitive. some keys doesnt work occasionally.

Being fair, i request you go back into our general section and search for it.
If you don't know what root is, i'd suggest you find out before venturing any further.
But to flash u have to unlock your bootloader, and then flash a recovery program. Lots of guides in the main sections, use search if lost.
The guides were made by me and designed/written so a kid can follow it. If you get stuck in some places i can help you. But if you haven't a clue, read first then attempt it.
I'm always around, so if your desperate PM me or Email me via my profile. I am on Hangouts(Talk) also using [email protected]

Hmmm. Not Fine. For HTC Devices the Filesystem ist not writeable without s-off. I want to delete the HTC_Sense5_Boot.mp3. It ist the Boot Sound. It there a other way to make the Bootsound silent?
Thank you.
1. Everytime you shut your phone down you mute the media sound.
2. you let an app do that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antweb.silentboot

That depends if you don't mind your warranty being void, you can either unlock the boot loader and flash a custom Rom or, get s-off, which will cost $25 and run an unbranded international ruu, either way your warranty will be void.
Hi there
The warranty is void anyways. I am not too bothered about that. I just want to get rid of Vodaphone presence on my phone and install a fresh copy of android.
Thanks

Ok, I feel your pain, I used to be on Vodafone UK firmware too so I know the bloat your talking about.
I paid for the s-off way myself, but there's no shame if you don't want to, it just makes things a bit easier and you can modify more.
Personally talking i think Vodafone just goes too far with its 'bloating' software and really there is NO need for it all.
What i am rtying to do is to unlock the phone and then install a fresh copy of android (not sure what version yet).
So, first step is to get 'S-OFF'.............. i will see how to get that done....
cheers

Do you know how to use adb and fastboot ? Do you also have your phone drivers installed on your computer ?
Once all that's done, or if you can post the info listed in your bootloader then we can tell you which s-off tool to use, it depends on which hboot you have on your phone.
To get to the bootloader, hold down the power button till the restart menu pops up, select restart, whilst the phone is going off, hold the volume down button, don't let go until your in the bootloader, post all that info on that screen here.
