If I'm going to buy one cash to use on AT&T getting the T-Mobile version is better? If I recall T-Mobile version has unlocked bootloader and AT&T does not, correct? Any other reason one better than the other?

Actually AT&T version got 5.1 while T-Mobile is still on 5.02. However unlocked bootloader is the biggest advantage over the AT&T version by far. So many ROM options.

I agree about the bootloader, but T-Mobile released 5.1.1 on Nov 30.
Sorry actually meant to say AT&T got it Oct. 10th and T-Mobile November 30th.
In this case AT&T got it way before T-Mobile. I actually emailed T-Mobiles CEO
and asked him why we didn't get it after my friend on AT&T got it.
But you are correct in saying T-Mobile has it now!

Hey guys - I currently own the One on AT&T and am loving it so far.
Are there any advantages to owning the AT&T version vs the USA unlocked version from HTC?
I'm thinking of returning the AT&T one and getting the unlocked version mainly so I can get HTC updates directly from HTC rather than waiting for AT&T to roll them out.
Both have LTE bands for AT&T, so that's not an issue.
Any reason why I should keep the AT&T one instead of the unlocked?
Thanks in advance.
The AT&T version has a fantastic logo on the back of the phone.

Also with the AT&T version you might have to wait an extra day to get a flashable ROM of the latest OTA

Since you can unlock the bootloader via htcdev and then load whatever rom you want it's probably not worth the hassle and restocking fee. Although I have the dev version it remains to be seen how htc will update this device or at what frequency. An update is already out for the international phones that has yet to make it to the dev. edition. I'm keeping mine stock for now, but may go the customer route at some point. Either version is a great phone.
If you would rather stay stock and still get the latest updates, get the unlocked or developer edition. If you don't mind unlocking your bootloader and flashing an RUU or custom ROM each time an update is released by HTC, stick with the AT&T version.

At least the unlocked and dev editions are already running a version of the 1.29 firmware though. The AT&T variant is still on 1.26, two major versions behind (1.26 -> 1.28 -> 1.29).

Camera is better. There are bluetooth fixes. Speakers can no longer go as loud (not all changes are necessarily positive depending on your point of view).
Search XDA. These changes have already been well discussed.

Strictly talking about the build number, 1.26 vs. 1.29 is major, whereas 1.29.xxx.3 vs. 1.29.xxx.13 is minor. Right now the AT&T version isn't far behind, but wait until something like 1.50 or whatever Android 4.2 corresponds with comes out and the AT&T version is left running 1.26 unless you unlock and ROM.

Are they updating the USA 32gb unlocked at the same frequency as the 64gb dev version? or will they update the 32gb the same time they update intl phones.
Also, if I flash new roms as they come out through the hacker channels, will I need to reinstall everything from scratch for each Rom upgrade?
Thanks again.

Also consider this, the developer edition comes with NO ATT BLOATWARE.
I have the 64 mb developer edition, just installed Visual Voice mail, LTE speeds are incredible,
and the IMEI was able to be used for the ATT network. This is as close to perfect
as you can get! Incredible piece of hardware.

Unless you're looking to get the phone subsidized, I see no reason to buy the AT&T model over the unlocked or developer one.
Only reason I can think of is dealing with AT&T for warranty issues is easier and faster than HTC.
I got the HTC unlocked 32GB version direct from HTC (arrived early...it was backordered and I paid for 2-day but HTC upgraded it to 1-day delivery. They shipped Saturday and I got it Monday).
What I noticed (coming from previous AT&T Note 2, S3 and Infuse) on AT&T...
1) no AT&T bloatware (as others have mentioned)...I was shocked how few apps were actually "running"...just a handful. I liked it.
2) tethering (no rooting required) for my occasional use of my iPad mini while on the road.
3) LTE is extremely fast compared to my Samsung's but not sure if that is a unlock versus AT&T issue?? Previously I just assumed LTE coverage was poor in my home. But with the HTC One it screams. Really surprised.
that's it.
So far I have avoided rooting since I want to become familiar with stock Sense, etc...then decide how much I want to play. I do expect to root eventually but stick to the popular stock-like roms (personally can't stand the CM's, etc.)

Anyone know if there are any radio differences between the GSM DE and T-mobile versions?

Unfortunately the only rumors I've heard have said November for Moto Maker on other carriers, so that would be more than 30 days. That might be a good idea for me when my contract is up next month though.
I understand that the T-Mo version has its many advantages of having its unlocked bootloader, DEV support, SIM unlock, etc...
Price point aside, are there any major advantages/disadvantages between purchasing the T-Mo(N900T) or the Intl version (N9005)?
Every stat comparison seems to be similar, ROM support and all the freq bands are there.
Looking for some definitive answers from the community before spending big bucks on a new unit.

On my way to the T-MO store then. :fingers-crossed:
Just so I get this straight,
1. Purchase the N900T.
2. Purchase a $10 or $20 SIM card. (then insert it and use the phone) Required?
3. Bring it home and use the service on CellUnlocker.net
4. Wait for the unlock codes then ENJOY! (Change APN settings)
Optional;
Follow the rooting/recovery guides in the T-Mo thread.

Thanks for the update on that. You did not have to put a T-Mo SIM first? I thought that was required for the region unlock issue?
How are the actual LTE speeds? Others have mentioned a drop in speeds due to AT&T not giving top priority to the T-Mo IMEI.

+1 on this question. How is the signal strength as well compared to a true AT&T phone in the same area?
Galaxy Note 3 Active
I was in the T-Mo store today looking at the Note 3. Ready and willing to go ahead and pull the trigger, then the rep says they are all out of the white one. They will have more in by the end of the week. Then mentions, they do have some at another store about 5 miles away though. He looks at me looking all disappointed and says, have you heard the rumor about the N3 active? No, I said. He says, if you can wait to get a new phone you might want to read up as it looks like Samsung is going to be going ahead with the release very soon.

It's because their stock of N900T's have been blacklisted by US carriers. Meaning they were obtained from the gray market. T-Mobile and AT&T have a database of IMEI's that are blocked from their network.
N900T vs N900A
I was reading the thread and was wondering why folks would prefer to buy the N900T vs N900A (especially when they are planning to use if for AT&T and will be required to unlock immediately)? Is there hardware/software advantages for the N900T over the N900A?
I'll add my 2 cents on this. I had originally purchased the T-Mobile variant (N900T) of the Note 3. I loaded up a custom rom and it was perfect. Shortly after that, I noticed my LTE signal (not HSPA) would be very low (-110dbm) in areas where my AT&T branded phones would sit on -94dbm. I flashed back to stock and noticed the same thing. Overall, LTE reception on band 17 on the N900T was very poor. Its probably because the N900T isn't optimized to use Band 17. Using the device with T-Mobile service, I had no LTE issues.
Now using the N900A for AT&T and get great LTE reception.
A buddy of mine has also noticed the TMO Note3 gets a lower reception when compared to my ATT note3. We are both on ATT as well.

Hello,
I did some research recently, and this caused a little bit of confusion, so I'll post a quick question:
I'm trying to buy this phone on ebay (since I don't have a US CC card), which one should I get, the T-Mobile or AT&T version?
Requirements:
- to unlock it for Europe GSM
- install CyanogenMod
As of now I was going for the T-Mobile, since I've read it's easier to unlock the bootloader, but now I see that the CM is only for AT&T phones? Or am I mistaking?
Thanks!
It doesn't matter any more. When you purchase from the Moto web site you ask for the GSM version. There is no more differentiation between the T-Mo and AT&T versions. You'll get the XT1053, the former T-Mo version.

Yes, it does. Looks as if they changed it again. I didn't get that selection panel when I bought one a week ago. I guess you can still get the XT1058 model for AT&T. Maybe they were temporarily sold out of the AT&T model? There is some LTE band on the AT&T model not available on the XT1053, but if I remember that band isn't used currently by AT&T in the USA anyways. People might also want all that wonderful added value bloatware software not on the XT1053 and have the inconvenience safety of a locked SIM.
