I rooted my Fire and have Google Play. Most of the other apps I have from Play are working. This is the only one so far that fails to start. I removed the system Kindle app, Goodreads, Audible, and Whisperlink apps before I installed Kindle from Google. Also, it seems that the Kindle app from Google Store can't seem to start Whisperlink in the background on startup.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

As always I am running a non stock device running honeycomb. Your mileage may very, yada, yada yada...
So the apps from the Kindle Fire have been laid bare so we can all have a chance to play with them. Well from a viewsonic stand point my experience is thus. The Amazon video app works up to the point you attempt to rent a video, them it FC on you. the Kindle reader from the fire immediately FC as does the browser. The e-mail app seems to work but is nothing to write home about. The app store app seems to be functional, and will tell you you cannot download the fire version of apps, it will also find apps you did not download from them and try to update them. The live wallpapers all seem to FC. So what else works the amazon shop works, the Quick Office works. the 3D gallery works. I have not tried all of the apps so maybe the facebook app is better then the stock android one?
As to the kindle fire launcher this has been a no go as it seems to want to pull up the amazon browser immediately, and this causes a FC.
Oh here is the XDA Kindle fire dump thread.

I was looking at getting this, but then I heard that, even though its Android based, it doesn't have the standard apps (maps, gmail, etc.) and it doesn't have Google Play allowing you to download apps...? Thanks.

Amazon wants you to stay in their own ecosystem. You will need to root your kindle fire HD in order install the google play store and to properly install some of the other google apps. The play store however is not a 100% sure way that all apps can be downloaded because it will still tell you on some apps that "this device isn't supported" so you will still have to side load anyways.

Within the last few days, Amazon updated kindle fire is to include a bunch of new features. Before the update, I had side loaded many of the Google apps, including of course the compulsory Google play services.
However, after the update, I could not start the YouTube app whatsoever. I tried many combinations of old versions of the YouTube app, and old versions of the Google play services app, but it still did not work. I then tried using the google play music app, which told me that google play services was not supported on the device. I could not even open Google settings.
The update was to kindle fire os 4.1.1, and to android 4.4.2.
Is this a problem that many people are having, or is it just me? Are there any work arounds?
Hello!
I recently inherited a 4th gen Kindle Fire HD 7 and it's cool, but I currently use Google Play Books to read, but unfortunately, I cannot get it to work on the Fire. I have tried a method on Gizmag (can't post link) but it still doesn't work. I was able to get Google Play Music to work. Everything installs fine, except Play Books continually says "no connectivity". I've tried resetting and installing everything again and my date and time are correct.
Any suggestions or methods to get Google Play Books working on a 4th gen Fire?
Thanks,
Jacob
I installed the Play Store on my Kindle Fire HD 10 & it is allowing me to add free & paid apps. My problem is for apps I've already paid for, but when I go to Play Store online (from my Mac), it is not showing my Fire in the dropdown for me to "re-diliver" to a device.
From the Fire, it shows the app is purchased in the Play menu, but tells me I already bought it, if I try to re-purchase it.
I don't recall this problem on THIS tablet previously, but I had to factory reset for a battery issue last night & now I can't get all my apps reinstalled.
Thanks for any suggestions or proven solutions.
