★ What do you mean by "Safe Upgrade"?
The latest N910VVRU2BPA1 bootloader is incremented; i.e., if you take the OTA or flash the official firmware via Odin, you won't be able to downgrade to rootable KitKat 4.4.4.
For Retail Edition: This is very important if you want to gain ROOT access when available & keep it over OTAs then.
For Developer Edition: If the bootloader is incremented with any coming OTA, it'll block your unlocked bootloader for good & you'll end up with a Retail Edition.

Thank you very very much.
I'm not exactly certain how this all works so please bear with me. Does it matter which version of firmware is installed before I do the update?
My Verizon Note 4 is currently on the safe upgrade to BOG5. So, can I simply flash this new firmware to directly upgrade to BPA1, or do I need to downgrade my firmware to some other version first?
Thanks again.

Fantastic work, and I thank you very much. With that said:
I'm really curious how a safe upgrade works. I was under the impression that any tampering of the official file (without root/an unlocked bootloader) would cause it to fail/trip the unofficial firmware message, which is why you can't simply put root into the file and flash it. How did you find a way around this?

Safe Upgrade includes official IMGs signed by Samsung, but it's diffrent from their official Full Firmware that increments the bootloader and prevents downgradeability to previous differently-incremented versions. Rooted IMGs fail in signature verification.

Just flashed it for my retail Note 4. Worked flawlessly. Thanks again!

Can this be dirty flashed, or should my phone be wiped? Coming from KK.

I dirty flashed from the first 5.0.1 update. No problems yet, but it's always recommended to wipe. Coming from Kitkat might be a little different, too.
In other news, 5.1.1 is noticeably smoother. Big difference.

I'm on the retail Note 4, still on 4.4.4 ANI1. Do I put the N910VVRU1BOAF_Bootloaders.tar.md5 file in BL section in Odin?

Been patiently waiting for this. Thanks for all your hard work hsbadr!

can i rollback ( twrp ) to BOG5??

not so fantastic - I am in bootloops. I was on BOG5 Jazmine ROM 3.1, upgraded to BAP1, and bootloops. Trying to recover T2 / A2 still, but we shall see - stand by...

I have Dev Edition and got a |tz|Fused 2 > Binary 1. Tried flashing the BOG5 version back but same thing. Does anyone know how to get the phone back to operational and not lock the bootloader?

This is for the original DEs with KK or OAF bootloader. It won't work if you have incremented partitions (e.g., sent your DE to Samsung for repair and they updated the bootloader). So, you already won't be able to roll back to KK.
I'll create a sepecial version for you. What's your current bootloader version?

Yay, thank you so much hsbadr! I've been waiting patiently for this!

This means you've incremented bootloader, but I'm asking about the bootloader version. Anyway, I remember that Samsung upgraded your bootloader to N910VVRU2BOG5. Check your PM!

Thank you! Is there a way to look without being able to boot into the bootloader? I have sent the phone back to Sammy to have it fixed once. When I got it back (around 10/20/2015) I followed radionerd's instruction here to hopefully prevent sending it back again. Maybe there's something in the backup I took that will tell me? Also, I'm not quite sure how to use the backup either.

Thanks @hsbadr the firmware is running flawlessly

[ROM][STOCK]Sprint One Stock Odex and Deodex 1.29.651.10 || Updated 5.17.13 ||

Here is an almost stock 1.29.651.10 ROM, both Odex and Deodex, based on my Sprint One system dump (I RUU'd, took ota, HTCDev unlocked, TWRP, dd'd /system). I flashed both and everything appears to work fine. If anyone finds an issue, I will correct it and re-upload. You can flash this right after you flash TWRP (read below), as this has root and system write protection already disabled (read here).

downloading now, Thanks Viper
Thanks again, Viper!
Would downloading the odex version of this and flashing over stock rooted be the best way to get the OTA updates, without having to set our apps gmail, etc. up again, or will there be a recovery flashable .zip in your opinion, that will do the trick?
I'd like to stay stock as long as possible so I can better support my clients on stock.

This is a flashable .zip for recovery. You could dirty flash, but I never do. I use Titanium Backup to backup everything, full wipe, flash new base, set up accounts again, restore apps and data.
Yes, thanks, I know that is the preferred method. I guess I am just looking for a flashable .zip of the the OTA that will just update the stock with the new files, so that it still shows stock in about phone, etc. and is as close to stock as possible while rooted and able to add most of the goodies...LOL.
I guess I should just flash the new base using TiB as you said, and let my staying with rooted Sprint Stock obsession go...I mean, I've already installed MoDaCo to get rid of the darned menu bar!
Thanks again for all your hard work and patient answers...When my clients finally pay me for last month's work, I'll be sending a beer or two your way!
So wiping and flashing this is equivalent to taking the ota??? Or is ruu than take ota than root again than flash the way to do it???? I just wanna go the best possible way. Thanks

I see what you're asking. The issue there is that it shows every apk and framework file is different from the last base because the version numbers were bumped. I'm not going to go through almost 300 files to see if it was just the version numbers that changed if you dirty flash this (no /data wipe), that would be like taking the OTA but I can't promise that it will work properly.

Just out of curiosity, what is the order you're recommending here? Are you meaning wipe System, flash, wipe data or wip data, wipe system, mount, move ROM over PC, then flash it? I'm not quite sure what is the order of everything you're recommending.
Also, I had flashed CM10 to try it out and it borked my file structure. Will this cleaning fix that issue?

Kernel was updated, baseband I'm not sure. I did the RUU and then the OTA, so it would have flashed any firmware (stock ROMs intentionally do not touch firmware) but mine says 1.00.20.0315 for baseband.

Any chance this might be doable for the Droid Mini? I'm assuming (yeah, I know) that if done it would be flashable on a current Mini with 4.4 (locked bootloader/unrooted) since it's still considered a "stock" 4.4. ROM?
Since the Mini only has 16GB (about 11GB usable at best) every little bit helps...

How would you flash it with a locked bootloader and no root? You can't flash in stock recovery.
RSD Lite, perhaps? Honestly I didn't think about it at the time I made the post, having a "senior moment" I guess. Getting sick of flashing anything, actually.

this is intended to flash it on custom recovery with obvious rooted and unlocked bootloader, not on rsd lite.
i really wish you can flash it on a locked device.
Jaocagomez, are you using this ROM now? How much is the storage used by AndroidOS in "Settings->Storage". My phone is using 6.52GB, even its de-bloated (So I have converted many apps to system app to use the FREE debloated space). If yours is showing less usage (it must be) and you are NOT having any issues (even using as daily driver), then its one of the best stock based ROMs available here, imho.
Thanks...

The system partition is what it is. You can't adjust that. The 6.52GB is the same across all stock roms.
Dear akellar, Thanks for the info...
@ OP
Whether OTA is blocked in this ROM? I mean sir, have you removed MotorolaOTA or one such app too? As OTA will fail in this ROM right?
Thanks for this ROM, as it will save lots of time debloating, when we have to flash a stock 4.4 ROM.

i didnt remove motorolaOTA from the apk's but i think it wouldnt work. if a new android version comes out i'll just debloat it as i already have everything setted up.
A system update will fail using this because it is debloated you will have to fxz to get the bloat back and take update
^^^^
Yes. To get OTA, we have to return to stock using rsdlite. and get ota.
Though OTA installation will fail, there is a chance to download the OTA, if we are less careful - which may lead to consumption of data. Thats why I have asked so.
May I request OP to remove MotorolaOTA apk files too in the next iteration (say for 4.4.2 or 4.4.3 in future), if its not going to be a tedious job. Hats off to you sir for your nice efforts. Sorry, if I said anything wrong or asked too much...

Sorry for the noob sounding question, but what recovery would you recommend for this almost stock rom?
I have tried CWM - 6.26.6~ which was modified by another dev -
but it would not load this rom just got stuck in a boot loop -
did work with Cyanogen so not sure what the difference was, but they do not have a stable build for my
Moto Maxx Dev edition -
Any better suggestions for the recovery?
Thanks,
I am looking forward to a debloated 4.4 rom -

Firmware Update rolling out for AT&T Atrix HD (05/14)

RELAX!!!
Now I think they're releasing this update just to mess with us. Go to About Phone and check for updates. I haven't installed it yet, but most likely a patch for Heartbleed, or something.
Enjoy? :silly:

Unlocked bootloader patch as well as a heartbleed fix is my guess.....forgot to charge before bed last night and I only have 43% battery....Once I'm charged, I'll flash back to stock and I'll upload this new OTA for us all. Give me about 3 hours......luckily it's a rainy day and I don't have crap to do.

Probably just trying to prevent others from unlocking; like what the last Verizon JB OTA did to the XT926.
BUT
There's speculation on the RHD forums that the kernel used in the XT926 OTA will able to be used in unlocking the bootloader. Only time will tell, but that's good news at any rate.
now at 82% charge....
In any case i think this are good news, maybe the kitkat update its not that far away... update installed

i noticed that my phone cant stop rebooting with this update. It asks me to install untrusted zip and i say yes but it reboots again. maybe its the CWM recovery?

I will, but it's going to take a bit longer than I planned on. Just got a call and I gotta run some errands for work. Not sure when I'll be done. Probably 3 to 5 hours. Pisses me off. I was looking forward to an update, even if it is only for AT&T JB.
That's not what I expected from ATT but at least, they dont forget our update. Hope that kitkat will come soon.

Using the Settings>About Phone way, I updated it with Philz CWM installed and it's working just fine. Looks like it contains the heartbleed fix. a modem update, camera/various lib updates....Not sure why it's labeled Blur_Version.98.4.20.MB886.ATT.en.US.zip when it installs 98.5.38...though I'd have preferred a 4.20 version
EDIT4:
Forgot to mention. You HAVE to be running the latest stock AT&T firmware to install or even flash this. It won't work for any other Atrix HD JB rom, stock or custom.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but me using Philz to take the OTA lets me know that it does work as well as knowing that others shouldn't have a difficult time with it. Besides, if it did go bad I had a terminal open with all the fastboot commands ready to go...I was prepared for a soft brick.

I think the reason for the stockrestore is to make sure you are flashing on top of unmodified system files.

Wow, OTA on Thursday, DE upgrade process on Sunday. Thank you for your hard and quick work!
Unfortunately i followed the steps right but when i go to factory reset it says failed then reboots. also when it does, i cant turn the screen brightness down at all. im trying another factory reset and see what happens. hopefully this is a minor glitch and not something that everyone will go through.

Same thing here. It might be a bug in lollipop or it could just be the update. Hopefully it's fixed when the Odin tar is out but this is good for now. Things are running smoother for me.
Install a power toggles type app and see if that can turn it down. Please let us know if it helps. I'm staying on AICP if the brightness can't be adjusted.

[Guide - back to stock][KDZ][V40020B] - LG G Pad 7.0 v400 WIFI (e7wifi)

Hello if you own an LG G Pad 7.0 v400 and for some reason you didn't get an lollipop update or you coming back from a x ROM and want to flash
lollipop immediately instead of downgrading to KK and then updating it I have a KDZ for you.
*Due to locked bootloader on 5.0.2 you can only root it, flashing custom recovery will brick your device.

Actually it might be due to locked bootloader on 5.0.2, tried flash something via Flashfire but it says it cannot overwrite anything over existing data, or simply just says flashing was successful and boots LG's soft..
Maybe we could make something in the future. I'll keep trying and thinking.
Thank you for your work
Just to be clear I have some questions :
1 - Will I be able to flash KitKat KDZ over any ROM via this guide? (Can I downgrade from Lollipop?)
2 - This should help me after downgrading to root then install TWRP and then basically any ROM I need.. right?
3 - I heard about some devices (v410 specifically) when downgrading.. It makes the internal storage only 4 GB.. Do we have this issue on any of our KDZ on v400?
4 - and only two last questions that are unrelated to the topic (sorry)
Does this tablet support OTG?
And when installing CM12.1 can I have OTG (if supported) and IR working?
Thanks again for your time.. Have fun making our LG tablets better
Kindly press thanks if I helped

1 - Yes you can, when I was making this guide I was downgrading to the stock 5.0.2 (the one in the guide) from cm13 android 6.0.1. When you downgrade it to either KitKat or Lollipop (KDZ) from any ROM it will bootloop, you need to factory reset it manually and you're ready to go! It is the same for downgrading it from this 5.0.2 kdz to Kitkat. If you anyway want to downgrade it straight to KitKat just use V40010c kdz instead, it is available from a while..
2 - Unfortunately Lollipop 5.0.2 in this device has a locked bootloader what means you can't do anything, anything except root (same method as on 4.4.2 confirmed working) but that's basically all. If you want to flash the ROM as I do you have to downgrade it straight to KitKat, root it, flash recovery via app like flashify ( for some reason it does not support fastboot ) and then flash the ROM.
3 - I'm not actually sure what you mean but in this tablet (doesn't matter what ROM or firmware you're running) you'll always have 4GB of memory for your usage. partition is divided into two: 4GB of memory for you and 4GB is taken by the system. I'm pretty sure cyanogenmod needs less space but I never tried messing up with my tablets data partition. I think it is possible though but I just don't recommend it, high risk of literally breaking your tablet. I tried to extend data partition on RemixOS, I did something wrong and it never boot up. Tablet is not a memory stick, you can't just format everything.
4 - Yes, it does support OTG, confirmed working on firmware 5.0.2, CM12.1 snapshot, EuphoriaOS and CM13. Doesn't work in the recovery. And about IR blaster - Simply no, cm and other ROMs are almost stock android that doesn't even know what IR blaster is and any LG APP cannot be installed on different source code than their's.
Thank you so much for your explanation.. When I meant 4 GB.. I mean 2 or even less available for user.. The default in this device is 8 GB.. 4 GB for user.. But it seems like there's definitely no issue at all when installing ROMs and moving between them.. Thanks again..
Kindly press thanks if I helped

I think you didn't my video's description properly, 5.0.2 has locked bootloader so you have to return to kitkat to flash the recovery. You can revert to kitkat by following this tutorial with the exception of using this kdz file: http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=FW975106432109876543213/V40010c_00.kdz

Which kdz? 5.0.2 or 4.4.2? For 5.0.2 use Androidfileshost link from first post, for 4.4.2 use the link from the post you have quoted. It does work, download starts automaticly

Thanks man, I don't know why my Google Chrome shows a blank page and don't start download so I used a download manager and it's downloading.
Last question, can I use this KDZ (4.4.2 V40010c) on my tablet (V40020b)?

Now I swear that's really the last question
My tablet will stay in portuguese using the V40010c? Because it's a Brazilian version and I'm brazilian.
