Plz help me to fix all this..
Sorry for bad English
1. After plugging your phone to your pc, scroll down your notifications, you will see usb for charging, you have to touch that for more options and then select transfer files (MTP)
2. Not sure about this one . hopefully someone else can help you out.
Note : I use an otg cable for sandisk flash drive and asus file manager detects it no problem.
Not working.
none of your solution are working for me as u say to select MTP from notification and still it shows only blank memory card and second i have installer asus filemanger but no luck with otg..thanks for your reply..
I use "Use USB for Marshmallow" Xposed module. Works like a dream, couldn't live without it.

Can someone please help? I have downloaded a .cab file to my pc; however, I cannot copy it to my device through Windows explorer or ActiveSync. The "no" sign shows up when I try to drag and drop. I have tried unchecking the Advanced features on USB to PC. Any suggestions?
Use the microSD card reader

I'm not sure whats causing that if the device is properly connected and synchronised but a surefire way will be to copy the cab to your microSD card using the cards USB reader and then put the card back in the phone and run it from there. Are there any other problems you're getting with regards to activesync and what are the rest of the details of your setup (both phone and desktop)?
Thanks for the reply. The issue is resolved now.
gents, some files & folders are not showing in windows explorer when i connect to PC by USB in MTP mode. but i cant see those files and folder from from phone explorer like ES explorer...
can you please help me, i need to copy some huge number of photos from my phone SD card, which is showing in phone.
i tried: SD re-scan apps too, but no luck. and restart phone, no luck. :crying:
don't suggest to use AirDroid as files are huge.
I am using: stock ROM JB 4.1.2 (leak)
last sentence is the hint: known problem with the leak. No solution until know - at least I don't know any.

So I am forced to use AirDroid or KiesAir ?
EDITED: I managed copying those huge files by turning on USB mass storage utility from Settings > More Settings > USB utilities.
I hate MTP now
Thank you.

Hi! I am having problem with using a usb thumb drive. When transferring multiple files/picture from phone to the drive, the transfer would freeze. And then it would disconnect the drive by itself.. Any advise is greatly appreciated!

hi ,
firstly ,
with your limited info etc ,it is difficult ,to pinpoint your problem ??
However ,i can give you insight in my setup and use ?
I have a Note5 N920 C model ,not rooted ,stock rom .
I have 2 x otg devices that i use and they work fine .
I can transfer multiple file ,pictures etc .no problem .
I use a 3rd party file manager Fx to do the job .
i have found that the Touchwizz file manager ,
to be sometimes unreliable ( on some of my other devices gives a error/force closes )
I thus use my preferred file manager Fx .( i have configured it t,o open if otg is inserted .
if stock /Touchwizz file mananger opens first ,i press back button out of My files and and normally Fx is also open under My Files app .
The way i see it it could be numerous reasons ..eg.
...is otg compatible with your device ?(it should be)
Have you cleared My Files data and cache in Application manager ?
I t even could be that you disabled a service /(eg Package Disabler )
and it thus have a knock on effect ?
resulting in the freezing etc ..?
If you rooted ,it can be many more other reasons .!!
Bottom line it should work ???
good luck
It's most probably the otg thumb drive you're using: i used to have the same problem with one i bought from amazon. In the end it stopped working (corrupting my microsd card along the way) so i decided to try one from Meenova next and have been using it for over 6 months now without any problems. Even just now i copied over 10Gb of data to the OTG drive without any problems.
Any photographs that I take with the cameras on my N6 are placed in the directory Internal Storage>DCIM>Camera.
However, when I connect my phone to my PC, I cannot see this directory in Windows Explorer on my PC - all I can see is Nexus 6>Internal Storage>DCIM (which has a subdirectory .thumbnails in it).
It doesn't make any difference whether I have the phone set to "Use USB for File Transfers" or "Use USB for Photo transfer (PTP)".
However, if I use ES File Explorer Pro on my phone, then I can see the Camera subdirectory (and I can see the .JPG files within that directory). I can also use ES File Explorer to copy the .JPG files from the Camera directory into a new directory that I have created in Internal Storage. I can then see this new directory (and the copies of the .JPG files) in Windows Explorer on my PC.
Any suggestions as to how I can get my PC to see the Camera directory?
(Phone is a Nexus 6, rooted, running 6.0.1 MOB30D and Cataclysm. PC is running Windows 10).
boo in twrp recovery, connect phone to pc,mount internal storage and see whether you can see on pc or not.

Thanks. Yes, that works - I didn't even need to mount the Internal Storage. I can see the Camera directory and copy files from it to my PC.
Not sure what that tells me, though.
I use this app Media.re.scan. Depending on how a file is saved the media journal may not be updated which makes certain things not see the new files namely MTP and PTP functions in android. Run that app and tell it to scan and it'll make all new files show up.
I have a Samsung np700z series running W10 with 2 USB 3.0 ports and a 2.0. I've always had trouble with the 3.0 ports on W7 W8 and ten. They work fine for anything else except cause the problem you describe. Using my 2.0 I don't have nearly as much trouble. I know the Samsung hardware and windows has this issue and it's never been resolved. Sometimes it takes a few plug unplugs and sometimes it doesn't recognize it right away. This problem has persisted from a note 2 to N6, from KitKat to N which leads me to believe it's not the phone or phone OS. Fwiw.

I just got the Prime R1 HD 16gb today and did TWRP and root. The only issue I've had is for some reason if I move a file onto the phone from my PC with a USB cable, it wont show up. E.G. If I move a file to my downloads folder, it wont be there, but if I download the same file through the phone from the internet it works. I can still see the files I've moved onto the phone from the PC if I use a file explorer, but it wont let me do anything with them. I tried going into the TWRP menu and switched the system off of read only thinking that may help, but it seems to have not done a thing. Complete beginner when it comes to this kind of thing if it isn't obvious. Any ideas?

That sounds familiar to the mtp "bug" Android has had for years.
The media storage database does not update when files are added from mtp.
Some work around that are listed are to use USB transfer instead. (Not used that one before)
Disconnect usb cable clear the data if the media storage app and force close it, then reconnect usb is should rescan the media and rebuild database.
Or just a reboot(I have done this and it usually works)
