[SOLVED] Main camera lost quality - HTC One Mini 2

Hi,
One month ago, during a hiking, rain entered the phone. Then my phone screen became dark and inresponsive. My phone went to repair shop and I got it back in the night. The probem was only the battery. Weird I thought it was the screen. Since then, the 13 mpx camera lost quality and take blurry pictures. What can I do? Send it back to repair shop?

First, I was not able to pull out the screen/hardware from the rear housing cover and I was too scared to break something in the hardware. Few hours later, I took a deep breath and managed to open my phone. Then I cleaned the lens and the camera. I reassembly the phone and first I was happy because the camera focus was able to take clear pictures. But I figured out when the phone was heating, fog was spreading on the lens, making cloudly camera screen. I reopened it but the camera went back as bad quality as before. I reopened it again and now it works, but not perfectly. :victory:

[Q] Camera issues

My phone dropped from about a meter (3 feet) off the ground the other day on to some concrete. Luckily there were no cracks or scratches on the phone so I thought it was fine.
A little while later I used the camera and noticed it looked a bit weird. The screen had lines all over it and the photos came out with a red tint. I thought that maybe it was just the app screwing up, so I tried a different camera app but came out with the same results.
I recorded a video of it happening: (but I can't post links since I'm a "new" user. So here's a gif and the picture I took.)
The front camera is completely fine, so I guess something in the rear got damaged when it hit the ground.
Is this problem fixable? Or is the rear camera broken for good? I'm thinking of buying a replacement lens online somewhere and opening the phone and swapping it for the broken one, but I'm not sure if the water resistance will remain intact.
That's unlucky man I'm guessing you will need a new lens and I'd probably get someone proper to do it so you can blame them if anything happens
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
I doubt it's the lens. Broken camera module.

[Issue] blurry pictures

Every picture i take is like the one I've uploaded very very blurred. I've tried many things but none of them worked ... any advice? thanks
Edit: i guess now after a research that maybe my lens have water in it.. i will put the Z1 inside a box of rice and update.

Water is not for sure, water make unusable the camera. Did you put you phone under water? To me the focus option do not work properly so maybe is an defected camera or lens. Focus option is also can be software related so in this case I don't know if any update will help you or not. Try the app A Better Camera and see if anything change. If you don't find any solution I guess you should go for a replacement via warranty.

Thanks for replying. Yes i put the phone under water, 2 days ago the photos were normal so I think is something i did, i read in forums that condensate water on lens maybe cause issues on focus so i don't know :/. I've tried lots of camera apps and configurations none of them worked. If i cant solve this problem i will try warranty.

Before you put the phone under water the pictures was fine?
Condensate water on lens will cause much more worse pictures than that, actually you will can't make any photos at all, even with a small drop of water or whatever. From the picture seem like the focus option do not working properly and I don 't know if is because you put the phone under water. Not sure. Try to be sure if the water didn't come inside the phone and get a replacement.
I just realized I had some similar picture 1 day when I was on manual mode without Image Stabilizer enabled. Did you check that?

Camera overheating???

Today i had a stupid issue, while using the camera, main sensor created fog under the lens.
I used a hair dryer to clear it but as soon as i used the camera, lens got foggy again...
Both GCam and nokia cam used, fog kept re-appearing in the lens.
I left the camera to cool down, used the hair dryer again, cleared and reinstalled apps, restarted the phone, seems to be fine now....
Stupid question: Is there a possibility one can kill the camera sensor with a wrong app??? I was currently using GCam Unix 4.0

Wtf lol
1st backrider & 2nd urnyx05. The others are latest back rider. Looking at these and looking at specifically picture 1st & last picture it seems as though there's a effect happening with seems apparent in higher lighting shots. Seems foggy/cloudy on certain parts of the picture. Is this what u was dealing with? Last picture was shot before I noticed the fog

Note 9 Problems after replacing rear camera

Ok, so I am a serial note 9 breaker. This is my 8th one since they came out. Mostly I'm a klutz and I drop them, although I have had a couple stolen and a couple sent to me that were already defective before I could break them myself. The latest one.... I broke the little piece of glass on the rear facing camera. So I ordered that, and replaced it but in between the time I broke it and when I received the piece of glass the lens must have gotten damaged because the thing wouldn't focus on anything even somewhat close up. (I have a business reselling and take pics daily so this was a major issue) So, I decide to get a whole new rear camera and replace that. Which I did earlier today. I watched videos, and carefully completed each step. Twice. I know I put it all together correctly... took all the pieces of protective plastic off... didnt touch the lens.. I was very careful. But now when I turn it on and go to the camera app I have a black screen and it won't let me select any of the modes.. won't let me take a pic, won't let me touch the photo replay button.. it freezes and I have to close it out through the recent apps to be able to exit. I have reset the camera, wiped the cache and data, gone in to all the dang settings and did everything I can think to do.. I did a partition wipe... I'm stuck and about to go all Office Space on this damn thing and smash it to bits in the middle of nowhere while listening to gangster rap. And I really don't want to do that as I need my phone for my business. Someone please help? Did I miss anything.. is it possibly a bad part? I just don't know what to do from this point. Please and thank you

My bet would be on one or both cameras being non functional.
Had the same problem, broke the camera glass on the right camera. wile waiting for the glass i covered it with tape, just the glass hole on the right camera. Just this tape over 1 of the cameras made it non possible to use the left camera at all, black all the time but the camera app wasn't behaving like yours.. Looks like it need both cameras working together.
Have you put back the old module to see if the focus problem remains but at least the camera app working?

I've got the same problem. The p30 pro overexposes erratically when shooting outdoors. Even when forcing the app to focus and measure on a specific part of the image (by tapping on the screen on specific spots of the image), the exposure is too bright. Even when a temporary improvement can be noticed the image will return to an overall overexposure after a few seconds.
Switching to the PRO settings in the camera app, and making adjustments by hand, gives no solution since the overexposure persists.
This behavior started approx a month ago. I'm currently on build 10.1.0.161.
I would appreciate your feedback.
An example: i.postimg.cc/fbfhZXD9/IMG-20201104-103830.jpg
And even worse: i.postimg.cc/G2PPXLPr/IMG-20201104-102341.jpg
The last picture on the same moment with an Huawei Mate 20: i.postimg.cc/8zFhqBdZ/IMG-20201104-102415.jpg
The same here
Have the same problem with 2 devices, 1 device was tried several times to repair but does not work at Huawei service, I got a new device at the end. Other device here with me is and I've tried everything, but does not work normally. Tried downgrade from 10.1 to 10.0 no success, then downgrade to 9.1 no success, if TOF sensor shut then no overexposure, I suspect the TOF sensor is broken.

Anyone managed to solve this issue? Have sent my phone into Huawei Service centre and they replaced the mainboard and camera setup but the issue still persists.
looks like a hardware problem

I did a full reset of the phone but the problem persists. The overexposure makes me think of a charge building up on a sensor. Hence the erratic behaviour and the preference for overexposure when outdoors.
My device started overexposing after the backplane was replaced. Seems to me these things are hard to disassemble and even harder to put together again without wrecking something.
Anyway I sent it in for repair. We'll see what becomes of it.
I've noted this problem on my p30 pro... I did rest camera app and delete cash files but the problem still... Do you find a solution
I also encounter this ob my p30 pro. Isnt there any official statement on this? If the problem is the TOF sensor xan we turn it off
any uddates, same problme here after screen replacement...
Focus on the wall or another area if you want focus on sky?
I don't have this issue on my P30 Pro - VOG-L29 - 11.0.0.138

this happens because inside, there must be a rubber grommet around the sensor. I opnened my phone and is missing, because huawei replaced the screen and didnt put it back again. Im going to have to go again to the store and make them realize, luckyly i have 2 p30 pro and i can show them the missing piece. But to solver ur phone must be oppened
I have the same problem, pls can you show me with pictures how can i cover the tof sensor. I covered the tof sensor (this eye under the flash) with duct tape but no fix. The problem appeared after screen and back cover replacement. When i don't put the back cover i dont have the problem, its working good so im little bit confused.

The problem is the rubber grommet that is written above. I accidentally lost this part but thank god i have similar spare parts from other phone and i managed to install it to this phone. And voila the problem gone.
also encountered this issue, i thought the reason its just after i upgrade the emui 11. But its not. I remember after i brick my lcd and replaced it, in the back camera in TOF sensor there is a rubber surrounding the tof and the "Flood illuminator aperture", they forgot to return back the rubber surrounding it.
The purpose of this rubber cover surrounding it is to protect the too much light ambient that reflects it to the flash and asl aperture reflection glass. But since the technician lost its rubber that surround the tof sensor, we put a small black tape between the als aperture reflexion glass and the flood illuminator aperture.
After we done it, my camera exposure back to normal. Hope this helps. Thank you.

Hi, but in this case all looks that phone has been opened by someone - I have just bought now one - Believe is new - but form the description and solution you are giving, looks that has been only sold as a new, not refurbished.
I have new emui 11.0.0.159.
Phone is still with warranty - I think will have to go to the Huawei Service to manage it, because opening phone by myself will crash the warranty.

I am currently traveling through Asia and I thought it would be a good idea to visit the official Huawei Service on my last day in Kuala Lumpur for a battery replacement. Well, the battery is great again but all my pictures are overexposed now so I bet they lost that rubber part. Problem is that I already traveled to Indonesia so I can't bring the phone back to the store.
Taping the TOF lens with black electrical tape didn't do the trick for me although it seemed to work when I was covering the sensor with my finger. Now I'm wondering if it is really a problem with light leaking and not heat?
PS: after going to Huawei in Malaysia, my German Huawei warranty is void. This sucks!
