[Q] No bootloader

Hey guys,
My friend gave me his Ace (S5830) that he had managed to soft brick while trying to root it. He also wanted CM10.1 on it. I found tutorials online, and flashed what claimed to be a CWM recovery .tar and the OPC in Odin, so it now boots to how he had it before. However when I use any tool to boot into recovery, it soft bricks again, with the Samsung logo and web link, so I have to use Odin to fix it again. If I try power+menu on boot it just shows the logo and link, however taking the battery out lets it boot normally. Should I install a stock firmware from sammobile.com, or give up?
P.S. If stock restore, how?

You can get Official firmwares from here

Nexus 4 Android 4.4 Kitkat Zip Image

Note: I've posted a flashable factory image and radio posted by Imparticus in the Stock Kitkat thread over the Nexus 4 development section.
Hey everyone, I've seen people post instructions on where to download the 4.4 update for the Nexus 4 but I haven't seen anyone post the .zip version of it yet.
Another user, Imperticus, posted these flashable zip files of the rom and radio respectively.
Here's the Kitkat ROM: https://mega.co.nz/#!eJEh0SpT!TERt-SwkNKuAYgVCEvX1NmmxR_R8MFET15uhjAB-9tM
And here's the radio, which you should flash AFTER flashing the ROM above: https://mega.co.nz/#!iRcgEZJB!YBn6d1jE9OGesABJ8OaKyH34o9QStz1OlO6OUJCf6dI

Reboot to bootloader then go to recovery. If this doesn't work (seems odd but some people have gotten it working after rebooting to bootloader first), just boot to bootloader and then:

Go for it. Seriously, flashing the images takes about three minutes or so and it's safer. Just remember to boot to recovery afterwards to do a factory reset and wipe cache to prevent a bootloop (this will wipe your storage so make a backup first).
For both zip files that have come up tonight I can't flash them, ended up just flashing back to my CM 10.2 nightly. Just gives the same error.

Rooting tab 8.9

Hi, I have been trying to root my P7310 tab using the instructions and root files I found in several threads. My problem is that when I boot in recovery mode I don't get in the list of options the one that says 'apply update from SD card', I only get the option of updating from external storage or cache.
Anyone could help me with this?
Thank you,
C

Use the guide from here by nirogu325 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406137
It has all that you need. And when in recovery, it's not necessarily 'apply update from SD card'. Just choose the zip file that you have to flash to gain root. I suggest that you use TWRP recovery on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602188
Thanks for your help, I will try the instructions although they look a bit complicated for a near novice like me. My problem with the zip file is that when I am in recovery mode I cannot select any path leading to the SD Card root folder where the zip has been uploaded. It drives me nuts, it seems to work for everyone else but me!

The original gingerbread recovery had an option to flash zips. The ICS recovery did not. Rooting was way easier on GB because of this. The only way to root ICS is to install a custom recovery to flash a root.zip file.
Make sense, something to keep me busy next weekend...

Instructions from the guide are relatively easy to follow. Just read the whole lot. I think it would be better if you upgrade to ICS first if your still in Honeycomb.

Ok, I think I need some help. I cannot flash zip drives from the standard ICS recovery as I do not get the option of accessing the SD card (see photo attached) so I can't either root or flash CWMR zip. As suggested I have tried Odin but there are no instructions on how to flash a CWMR zip in the tread, only how to flash ROMs. I have tried to search with the PDA or BOOTLOADER buttons but I cannot load a zip file in Odin. I am really not sure what to do now?
can you help?

CyanogenMod instaled and unusable, I have installed GoogleApps separately but they do not show up anywhere. The browser does not work so I cannot try to access gooleplay. The PC does not recognise the tablet any more and I cannot transfer files. Well done me!
I suppose I could go back installing a stock ROM with Odiin, the problem is that the only post I have found with stock ROMs has links to Hotfiles.com which is no longer in service. Can anyone direct me to any other link where I could download a stock ROM for P7310?

Well yeah I didn't mention that you should do a full wipe first because I thought you already knew that
anyway, hopefully messing up with your tab won't be necessary, cuz stock ICS is the best, personally I use this tweaked one:

It is the best!!!:victory:

Agree, I've tried the 10.1.3 and 10.2 CM versions before. But IMHO, overall performance is not on par with stock ICS.

[Q] How to get 7.0 on rooted N6

It's been a while since I've played around with my phone. I've been rooted since day 1 and run a few custom ROMS. However, obviously I'm not getting the pushed OTA. How can I get 7.0? Will I lose root? I don't mind if I have to re-root, just wondering.
Un-root your device and install the N firmware and then reboot. That way I'm sure you won't get a boot loop upon restart.

If you want to have root, and you have run custom ROMs before, why not just run a custom 7.1 ROM that already has root. YOu would just need to upgrade your bootloader and radio to the latest and flash a 7.X ROM.
