Nexus 4 Android 4.4 Kitkat Zip Image - Nexus 4 General

Note: I've posted a flashable factory image and radio posted by Imparticus in the Stock Kitkat thread over the Nexus 4 development section.
Hey everyone, I've seen people post instructions on where to download the 4.4 update for the Nexus 4 but I haven't seen anyone post the .zip version of it yet.
Another user, Imperticus, posted these flashable zip files of the rom and radio respectively.
Here's the Kitkat ROM: https://mega.co.nz/#!eJEh0SpT!TERt-SwkNKuAYgVCEvX1NmmxR_R8MFET15uhjAB-9tM
And here's the radio, which you should flash AFTER flashing the ROM above: https://mega.co.nz/#!iRcgEZJB!YBn6d1jE9OGesABJ8OaKyH34o9QStz1OlO6OUJCf6dI

Hey, Benn waiting for this. You the man! Quick question, will this update radio, binary, etc?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

Can I flash your .zip over a custom ROM? I'm using that previous build that PA made over KitKat's source.

Rooted, stock 4.3, TWRP recovery.,stock kernel.
Try to flash through recovery and it fails without any informative error message. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?

Reboot to bootloader then go to recovery. If this doesn't work (seems odd but some people have gotten it working after rebooting to bootloader first), just boot to bootloader and then:
fastboot erase recovery

fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img

+1 on the failed flash.

Go for it. Seriously, flashing the images takes about three minutes or so and it's safer. Just remember to boot to recovery afterwards to do a factory reset and wipe cache to prevent a bootloop (this will wipe your storage so make a backup first).

For both zip files that have come up tonight I can't flash them, ended up just flashing back to my CM 10.2 nightly. Just gives the same error.

What recovery (version) are you using?

I've confirmed this isn't working
Deleted.

This could be wrong but wouldn't this need to be flashed via stock recovery or ADB?

Hi there, use CWR latest.......But take note that it will be a clean Boot ( pls back up your data )......which mean when you boot up...everything is stock ( root remains). ..flash radio and super su after you let the rom running for a while.:good:

Does someone flash the flashable zip of KitKat over stock 4.3 with custom kernel and root and can confirm it will boot without wipe?

Flash it! Its a .zip, no renaming or fastboot needed.
Im curious as of now if there is a way of going back to the .33 radio if this ends up making my service worst for some reason. I just got my phone today and might rock .33 a few days to get a feel before upgrading

[MiniTool] [Flashable Zip] [CASUAL] [4.3+] Nexus 4 Stock Recovery Flasher v0.6

Nexus 4 Stock Recovery Flasher v0.6
Have you ever get into a situation where you have a custom recovery on a stock rom and then get a OTA update then you find out that you need to flash the stock recovery to flash?, well this Nexus 4 Stock Recovery Flasher will sort it all out.
DISCLAMER: I am not responsible for ANY damage to your device what so ever, if your device flies away then that is not my problem.
NOTICE: This will flash the Android 4.3 and above stock recovery so if you have issues with the recovery just by having anything that is suppose to be running on Android 4.2.2 or below then that is your problem, it is possible to get the Android 4.2.2 recovery but it is pointless really since Android 4.3 is the latest version.
Also, PLEASE make sure you flash the recovery which is intended for that Android version so for example 4.3 recovery for 4.3 and 4.4 recovery for 4.4.x.
Be sure to donate to me if I really helped you.

Minitools:
Version 0.1: Initial Release
Version 0.2: Fixed Echo commands and added a command that I forgot to add. [Last 4.3]
Version 0.3: 4.4 KitKat recovery added (Replaces 4.3 Recovery)
Flashable Zip:
Version 0.1: Initial Release
Version 0.2: Unknown, I forgot to add that "minor" incremental changelog ages ago. :S
Version 0.3: Now works in all recoveries thanks to Flintburg. [Last 4.3]
Version 0.4: 4.4 KitKat recovery added (replaces 4.3 Recovery)
CASUAL:
Version 0.2: Initial Release (based on the minitool).
Version 0.3: Added banner.
Version 0.4: Fixed commands, this will fix the execution issues so I would upgrade unless you want to have a broken version, turns out that the CASUAL I am currently using is missing Fastboot, I will look at this and try fixing it in a certain future version.
This will set a new requirement which is to have a custom recovery as it is the only way to replace the recovery that way (this uses the Flashable zip since there are no other methods), it will remain like this until CASUAL supports Fastboot.
Version 0.5: Added the latest Flashable Zip (as of this date which is v0.3), should work in all recoveries now.
Version 0.6: 4.4 KitKat recovery added
What features/files does the minitool contain?, well...:
The Stock Recovery Flasher (obviously), batch file updater to update the file itself so you don't need to waste your time downloading the file again as an update, ADB files, Fastboot, wget for Windows to download the file which is required for the updater and of course the stock Android recovery.
If you want I can give you the Android 4.2.2 recovery.img image for the tool.
The updater was introduced from the Soft-Brick Recovery Project for the LG GT540 which I created myself.
Anyway post your results below so I know if it works or anything like that.
By the way in case you where wondering why all the files are in one place its because that I cannot find out a CMD command to move a file back one directory for the updater, if I do my method then it has to be in a certain directory so unfortunately that's how it is going to be until I find out the command.

Yea I do not know how to get into recovery. I locked my bootloader while rooted with s-off then did the ruu to 1.29 stock, did the update, up til 4.3 and everything went fine. I Unlocked bootloader again with the unlock code from HTC and my phone shows unlocked. However I cannot get recovery to work, I fastboot flashed the newest version of twrp several times and it would say successful. When in bootloader I click on recovery it brings me to the htc screen with opening recovery on top, and the bottom saying that this is for experimental purposes. The screen hangs there for about a minute then it goes to black and the phone resets itself. If someone else had this happened to them and got it working respond, it is annoying that I am unlocked with s-off but I cant flash a custom recovery.

Any thoughts?

Dear all;
Today i finally decided to unlock the bootloader and s-off the device..but after these..my wifi was not working ...and still stucked at the turning on wifi phase.
Factory reset wiping cache did not help
I found out that i should flash a newnstock rom...but to be honest i did not find the stock 4.3 for the european device (ruu).. i found some zips but the recovery stopped at verifying package when i said install from phone...so to be honest i have no clue how to proceed
How to flash it what to do? The guides are not always complete or the links were not working... i need help i will post the info on my device..
Would you be so kind and tell me what to do?
In details of course)
Thank you very very much

Or flash only the boot.img from fastboot.

Umh, download the stock rom from mike's thread.
Now, do a nandroid backup from recovery and after flash the rom.
I think there isn't any stock rom for your version main, so the easiest solution is this
However, you've tried to erase the cache from fastboot with the command: fastboot erase cache
??

Defo kernel issue.
- Get odexed from here
http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.no/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html?m=1
Or whatever you desire
- Put the downloaded Rom on to your SD.
- Enter cwm/twrp recovery and do a nand (=backup of current ROM)
- install zip of new stock Rom.
Reboot when done.
Either this or just flash bulletproof kernel from flar. see if it gets sorted.

Well I installed TWRP, did a backup, with the default selection, after that I booted, and copied the files.,
Then I copied the odexed file to the device, booted into recovery, and installed it.
Now Wifi Works , and everything is on the "latest" release and still stock.
My question is:
What ROM-s can I try out? Only Odexed? Or Google Editions as well (from the link you provided) and if yes...
I just make a backup from the current setup, and copy it, and then recovery from the backup am I right?
But mainly my problem has been solved... So thank you very much !
Odexed or deodexed, whatever rocks your socks.. if you are gonna do some themeing of icons you need deodexed.
You are S-off and are free to flash loads of stuff.
Google edition? Sure test it out if you want to.
Sure, just back up current Rom and keep it safe on your phone if you can. Any problems occurs you can just restore it.

Thanks for the link playful. Got a question though. I did the three wipe method (dalvik, cache, and system) like you said and flashed the cm11 both downloads I download numerous times ,I thought maybe I got a bad download. And both downloads every time I flash comes up "failed" I'm on 4.2.2 rooted with twrp installed. I reran your freedom apk to make sure the f340 aboot was installed. And still nothing. About 10 sec after the "updating partitions" line comes up it pops up in twrp "failed". Any suggestions? Hints?

Your instructions I see don't actually say to wipe system does that make a difference? And also your instructions describe the cwm recovery options. Should I be using cwm instead?

Twrp doesn't like 4.3 and higher. Don't have a clue why. Cwm Will do the trick. Which is a bummer for me because I really prefer twrp.

It's old school button style but it has the swipe left or right for back and enter. Doesn't work that great though.

Still didn't work. Gave me "error 7". "Wrong boot.IMG this software is for d950, f340, and d959. Your device is ls800"

ummm, cwm should be touch now and I'll have to check my imgs, purdy sure I had fixed and updated twrp to work too. Will check and test those.
@mattwheat WTF do you have installed for it to say its a ls800?

thanks man, if we could get twrp to work, I would feel much safer testing and trying different things out, but, with no custom recovery, and after already bricking this thing once, I prefer to leave well enough alone...
