I have already written once about this problem, it worked for a while on the old rom (Mokee) but now the probblem appears again. When I open the camera app, rear camera works fine but as soon as I switch to front camera it crashes and says "Unfortunately, camera has stopped".
I tried doing a full wipe and reflashing the cm11 again, also tried another camera app but it still doesn't work.
If anyone has solved this problem, please help!
I'm running cm: 11-20160208-NIGHTLY-p880, kernel: 3.1.10-CM+

Right out of the box the front camera works fine for maybe 15-30s then freezes and force closes. After that the camera app won't start but gives error "Camera failed". Same with front camera in all camera apps. Factory reset doesn't help. Does anyone have the same problem? Maybe another firmware would help?
I got the same probrem my front camera works fine but my rear camera doeen't work in any camera app, tried restoring updating but no help

Did you flashed any MOD Kernel?? if so flash Stock Kernel and ROM and see, if it doesnt work then go for warranty replacement.

I own XT1068 device, currently running Minimal OS 3.0 ROM. Today, I noticed that my front camera is not working. I don't know when it stopped working but came to my notice only today. In stock camera app, if I change to front camera, I get an error message stating "Can't Connect to Camera". Tried different apps but either get the error message or the app force closes. I have even tried changing ROMs but all in vain. I feel it must be a hardware issue.
Any experience or troubleshooting tips?

I had this same problem a few months back while using Blisspop. I guess there were some conflicts (I suppose) so I Factory reset first (including internal storage) and flashed Tesla. Problem got fixed. Reflashed Blisspop to check and never had the problem again.
So my solution is factory reset and try and flash another ROM.
Zuk Z2 Pro with MoKee 71.1 nightly OS gives bad error. There's no connection with the camera anymore. What should I do? Read on ZUI fans Europe that I should flash fastboot ZUI to fix it. But I want to use MoKee. Also want to try LineAge OS, but install did not succeed.

The "no connection error with camera" error of the official mokee nightly is not the "ominous" camera bug. The error is shown bc the camera in this ROM (in every camera app) is not yet capable of shooting pictures with flash.. Just disable flash in camera settings. Reboot and it should work again.
If you update camera to 4.0.13 (or something like that) remote update, then camera works again!
Which camera app do you mean? ZUI app? I use Open Camera, but like flyfire04 says, no camera app works on MoKee rom.
Nearly all camera apps I tried worked in mokee.
But the camera from open gapps is updated via playstore and do not work after update. Remove update and it works again.

I'll try to keep this as brief as possible. Yesterday I flashed LineageOS 16 + GAPPS on my MI 8 which at that time was running MIUI 10 Global without any issues. However, after flashing Lineage my camera started acting up even though everything else worked like a charm. Everytime I tried to open my camera app, I would get a message saying "The camera device encountered a fatal error" which I could report or dismiss. Both resulted in the app crashing to my home screen after which I repeated this process 3 times, but the problem remained. Someone mentioned that the GCAM app that I was running was designed for Pixel phones and wouldn't work. I used TWRP to delete CameraGoogleLegacy which worked. I then installed a camera app but again the camera would give a black image (front and back). I then repeated this process, but I tried installing the Pixel Experience ROM this time instead of Lineage. Again everything worked flawlessly, except the camera.
Then someone asked if I flashed the correct global firmware & vendor before flashing Lineage. I wasn't too sure, so I decided to flash MIUI 10 global 10.2.3.0 again. Much to my surprise, the stock Xiaomi camera app now doesn't work anymore either, nor does the Gcam port I was just using yesterday on the same ROM.

i tried to use a gcam. it lag soo bad so i tried to flash the 'fix' , after it succeeded i open the camera but it crashes, i tried to launch the stock camera app and it crashed too. every other sensors are working except the camera app (both stock and the third party). Im using an android 10 custom rom
